MY TREO 650 INFO is erased on Palm when using ISYNC & Hot Sync Manager Help

MY TREO 650 INFO is erased on Palm when using ISYNC & Hot Sync Manager. The sync takes a very long time and eventually I get a message stating it has failed--any solutions?
Thank You

What is the specific message displayed as it fails, and what does your HotSync log say about the failed event? Also, who is your wireless carrier and did they provide this particular device to you?

When using Family Sharing, it appears that all family members have the ability to lock and erase all devices that are linked to the family account. This does not seem very secure. For example, I wouldn't want my disgruntled family member to arbitrarily lock or erase devices, remotely.

If your answer to these 3 questions is Yes, a logical next step would be to reset your Preferences.
    To reset Preferences:
If Photoshop is already open on your screen, close it (Quit). Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop.
A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (the "Settings"). Click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a new one will be created.

  • Palm Tree 755p + iSync/Missing Sync for Palm/iSync Conduit 1.2

I'm lost! Being stuck with a new Palm Treo 755p instead of the iPhone until my contract runs out. How do I get my Treo to sync with my Mac? There's iSync, iSync Conduit 1.2 and even Missing Sync for Palm. I'm willing to pay anything just to get things to sync with the Treo & iBook. But, after reading anything and everything I can find even on Discussions ... I'm more confused than ever.
Can anyone tell me what the real difference is between Missing Sync for Palm vs. iSync & iSync Conduit 1.2?
If I had that rebate check from uncle Sam maybe I'd go out and pay off Sprint to get out of my 2 year contract and then buy an iPhone, LOL. Oh, that's right we don't get the check until summer
    Any help is appreciated.

OK, I finally broke down and purchased "Missing Sync," after waiting for Apple to fix this problem. I'm sorry to say that "Missing Sync" does NOT solve this issue completely. It will sync the Address book, but will NOT work with iCal.
Apparently, "Mark/Space" (the makers of "Missing Sync") are aware of the problems, have identified the problem as Apple's, and reported it to Apple. Here are some of the issues noted on the "Mark/Space" web-page...
"This article describes situations under which The Missing Sync may report errors or perfomance issues. One error message is specific to iCal (part of Apple's Mac OS X operating system) and describes errors from iCal that are affecting the ability of The Missing Sync from performing sync functions properly."
"In certain situations, The Missing Sync reports an error message titled 'iCal Sync Errors'. This error is often caused when iCal is attempting to share data with Sync Services. Although this error has little to do with handheld devices, it affects the ability to sync data to or from those devices as Sync Services functions are compromised."
"THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO APPLE, INC. BY MARK/SPACE."
"Errors that are not reported in The Missing Sync log may be found in the Console.log file."
"Here are some of the error messages you may see in the Console:
    iSDSqliteRecordMapper
    SQLite locking issue
    iSynceConcreteSession
    NSInvalidArgumentException
    ICalExternalSync
    ISyncInvalidRecordException
These error are generated by Sync Services and reported to The Missing Sync."
So, for those of you hoping that "Missing Sync" will solve the problems we are having with various hand-helds, and/or cell phones, it doesn't completely. I am a huge fan of Mark/Space's "The Missing Sync" and have used it many times throughout the years. It's a great piece of software that does a whole lot more than iSync ever has, but it does NOT solve all of the problems that are being reported all over this forum in regards to iSync issues and hand-helds/cell phones.

  • Palm TX won't hot sync via wifi, but will surf the internet via wifi

My Palm TX will hotsync with Windows XP via USB only. I cannot get a wifi hotsync. I can get on my wireless home network and surf the net, but I cannot hotsync to my computer through my wireless home network.
I've tried everything I can think of. I cannot find my computer on my TX during a Hotsync search with the Firewall on, or off. I've hard reset my TX, I've hard reset and wiped my TX. I've entered my Computer name into the TX manually and I've entered the IP address of my computer. Nothing..... It does a USB sync just fine. I've checked to make sure TCP/IP connection was turned on in the Palm Desktop software . . . it just won't sync via wifi.

  • Problems syncing with iCal and Treo 650

I use iSync for syncing my iBook G4, .Mac, iPod Photo and Treo 650. It has worked fine until a month ago. The iSync conduit somehow works OK with the Contacts/Address Book, but doesn't for the Tasks and Calendar (iCal). It is a real pain the to write everything manually on the Treo and the iBook separately. Can anyone help me with this? I really don't want to replace (reset) all the info on my Treo; this will cause me to re-categorize everything in the Treo, for iSync doesn't take care of it as far as I know. Thanks, ~L

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
What does your HotSync log say about these unsuccessful attempts to synchronize your Treo 650?
While it is important to correct this problem, if you want support for categories, calendar colors, contact photographs or icons, extended electronic mail addresses, URL and birthday data, you should ditch iSync in favor of the Missing Sync for Palm OS, a much more powerful and reliable program:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
On advanced Palm organizers and smartphones like your Treo 650, extended support is available as outlined in this document, for contacts…
    http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=2560
…and this document, for events and tasks:
    http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=2563
In addition, it supports internet sharing, Finder mounting and file transfer with SD cards, conduit profiles, iPhoto and iTunes media file synchronization, the synchronization of AvantGo content, and network synchronization of supported devices.

  • How do i restore synching between Treo 650 and iCal & Address Book

prior to installing 10.4.7, i was able to sync my treo 650 with iCal and Address Book; iCal and Address Book syncs with .Mac and Entourage; Entourage syncs with Outlook on my office pc; and Outlook syncs with my Blackberry 8700. therefore, all i needed to do was enter an appointment or a contact in one device, and all the three other devices would be in sync.
i recently upgraded to 10.4.7 and now, i have problems synching: (1) iCal and Address Book can no longer sync with my treo 650, and (2) iCal and Address Book can't sync with Entourage either.
after installing 10.4.7, i noticed that my treo 650 cant sync with iCal and Address Book. i always get the error "isync conduit synchronization failed. ( the first time it happened, i checked isync, and i noticed that "enable palm os synching" was unchecked, so i enabled palm os synching. after that, i was able to sync my palm, but for one time only. after that, i couldnt sync anymore.)
at the same time, i noticed that iCal and Address Book wouldnt sync with Entourage anymore.
i also noticed that iCal starts-up even if i dont activate it. when iCal starts-up, the beach ball spins for around two minutes before it responds; if i click an entry to edit it, the beach ball would likewise spin for a minute or two before i can edit it. i went through all the entries and noticed that some have multiple alarm entries: i deleted these and iCal no longer slows down.
however, whenever i launch Entourage or iSync, iCal also launches. unfortunately, no synchronization takes place.
can somebody help? how do i restore synching between my treo 650 and iCal & Address Book? how do i restore synching with Entourage? thanks.

    Bon asis,
I have the exact same situation. Sorry this doesn't help, but wanted you to know that someone else is in the same exact boat.

  • Verizon Treo 650 - can't sync

I saw lots of postings about difficulty getting all data synced using iSync and Treo 650, but couldn't find my problem. iMac and the Treo 650 won't connect.
I've loaded Palm Desktop, I was able to register the Treo with the iMac (they see each other now), I've ensured my phone's wireless connections on the phone allow other devices, and I've enabled iSync connection from the Hot Sync manager.
However, after all that, when I try to sync from the Treo, iMac sees the phone, but I get the error that it can't connect. The Treo eventually times out and says the port on the computer is already in use.
I've also tried removing the device and reconnecting...but now I don't see the iSync option in HotSync anymore.
    Looking for help.

Have you recently used Wireless Sync, or have you not configured Wireless Sync to allow the use of other synchronization software? Verizon ships it's Palm and Windows Mobile smartphones with a Wireless Sync application, set by default not to allow synchronization by any other means. To 'correct' this configuration issue, do this:
Launch the Wireless Sync application on your Treo. Navigate to…
    Settings:Connection Settings:Advanced
Check the option to Enable other sync apps, and quit Wireless Sync. You will now be able to synchronize with the Mac OS X synchronization application of your choice.

  • Treo 650?

I am a fairly new PowerBook user, as well as fairly new to the real estate industry. I have had to deal with using Virtual PC to access my local MLS - I've gotten over it and it is working just fine. Now I am looking into purchasing a Treo 650 through Verizon. Of course, I will want to sync my Treo to my mac, but I will also want to use my Treo to access the MLS system (which uses Active X) - will I be able to do both with a Treo?

  • T|X hot synched to Windows 7. Bluetooth hot sync deleted all info on Palm creating .bin file on PC.

I realize the subject line may be a bit wordy...
I tried installing Palm Desktop on Windows 7 PC with partial success.  It appeared the Hot Sync Manager was operating, but the Palm Desktop would not load properly.  I tried hot synching using Bluetooth.  Hot sync deleted all information on Palm and created .bin file on PC.
Is it possible to retrieve info from .bin file and reinstall on Palm?

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
I have never heard or read about Palm Desktop creating a .bin file from a botched Hotsync.  If the Hotsync did not complete and the data is wiped from your handheld, I am not optimistic about restoring the data.  Do you not have the data backed up via Hotsync on a different computer?

Hello:  I have a Palm Centro (Verizon) and am having major issues hot synching to my new Windows Vista (32 bit) home PC.  I continually get the following error message:

  • Problem Hot Syncing my Palm 105 under OS X 10.4.4

I get the message on the M105: "Your handheld computer & the desktop could not be established ..."
I am connecting the M105 via a USB/Serial cable, which works when I connect it to the USB port on my PC laptop. I have had it connected to the IMAC at start up.
I have installed Palm OS 4.2.1. I decided to try iSync and enabled Isync for the palm. ISync recognized the palm and told me to press the hot sync button on the M105. Before Isync completed, the M105 gave the "non-connection" message above. Isync help info. suggests syncing with Palm Hot Sync manager before using Isync. However, I was unable to do that -- I kept getting the same message on the M105. The Isync log indicates that it connected, but the M105 sure didn't think so, and my address/date info is not in the Palm desktop.
The Missing Sync tool does not list the M105 as being supported.
    What to do?

Your assumption is correct -- that's what I'm trying
to do. The Radio Shack cable goes from serial to USB
and I hook the M105 to that cable and then into the
USB port on the Mac. It does work on the USB port on
the Dell machine. On the Dell, I do the same thing
I'm trying to do on the MAC. I connect the M105 to
the Radio Shack serial to USB cable and hook it into
the USB port. On the Dell laptop, I can also connect
the M105 without the Serial/USB cable to the serial
port on the Dell. Either way it works.
So, if I understand correctly, you're saying I need
to buy the kit from Palm, or if I buy the Keyspan
cable, does it also come with a matching OS X
    driver?
    Doesn't the Palm 4.2.1 Version A Desktop that I
download for OS X come with the matching OS X
driver? When I do the download, it asks me for the
device and for the MAC OS.
    Thanks again
I had presumed that you were indicating that you
intended to synchronize an m105, using its serial
interface, to a Macintosh. A serial to USB
    converter
is required in that case, similar to those
    suggested
above, because your m105 is a serial device and
    your
    Macintosh has no serial port.
The serial to USB converter is a kit, containing
    both
a hardware adapter and a matching OS X driver.
Without both, your m105 cannot communicate with a
    Macintosh through its USB port.
I have now successfully hot synced the Palm 105 under OS X 10.4.4. I purchased a Keyspan 19HS USB Serial Adapter. I tried the installation over the weekend, and it didn't work. I entered E-Mail on their web site to give details but didn't hear back from them. Today (Thurs. 2/9/06), I called their support telephone no. I nice tech support person guided me through downloading a beta version of their software, necessary for OS X10.4.4, and lo and behold, it all worked.
I'm giving these details in case someone else has this problem -- may save you some time.
Thank you to Michael Lafferty for his good advice.

  • Hotsyncing a palm centro using a bluetooth adapter and windows vista 64 bit

Please help. I have read and followed all of the other suggestions on this forum and nothing has worked.
I have a palm treo.  When I try to hotsync using the bluetooth adapter, it gives me a message stating:
"unable to connect, port is being used by another application".
I have rebooted, soft reset, etc.    and still get the same message.
I do not know how to set up another port on the windows vista program.  That was one suggestion.
I have selected both bluetooth and serial port under the hot sync manager.
    Nothing works.

Hello akashmedehrotra and welcome to the community.....
Windows Vista 64 bit is only sync with a wireless connection.  Either Bluetooth or Infra Red.  The M515 does not have bluetooth, so you would have to purchase an IR Dongle and sync using Infra Red.  You won't be able to sync with the USB cable on your desktop.

  • Need help to hot sync Palm with iBook

I have an "old" Palm product, m105, which hot syncs via a cradle that involves the old-fashioned serial port. I've been able to install and hot sync successfully on PCs before, but never could on my Macs because of the serial pins. I just received today a Keyspan USB serial port adapter from Palm, allowing me to connect the cradle from my laptop to the USB port.
However, I am unable to hot sync. This message appears on my Palm: "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your set up and try again." Nothing appears on the laptop computer screen.
I have checked everything I know to check, but, of course, I've been unsuccessful. I need some direction as to what else to do.
I'd appreciate any help, and let me know if you need more information from me. Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Generally, Palm cautions that "…if you use a Serial to USB adapter other than the one distributed by Palm - for example, the Keyspan USB adapter - it must be plugged in at startup and continue to be used in the same USB port."
Keyspan provides instructions for installing and using their adapter with Palm devices, beginning here:
    http://www.keyspan.com/support/macosx/usa/docs/html/homepage19.html
If you need more help, I think you'll find the technical support personnel at Keyspan much better informed and more helpful than those at Palm.
