My trusted device list is empty

I have an iPad2 iOS 7.1.1 and an old iPhone 3GS iOS 6.1.3. Both of them are associated with my AppleID. Both of them have Find My iPhone set up and show up under Find My iPhone under iCloud.com. However neither of these devices show up in Trusted Devices list under my AppleID under Password and Security. Anyone know why this is happening?

Trusted devices are associated with two-step verification. Without this feature activated, you will not have any trusted devices listed.

A trusted device must be able to receive SMS messages from "Find my iPhone" or similar. That excludes your macbook.
When you set up two-step verification, you register one or more trusted devices. A trusted device is a device you control that can receive 4-digit verification codes using either Find My iPhone notifications or SMS to verify your identity.

Can't set up two step verification - no trusted devices

Hi,
I can't seem to set up two step verification on my apple ID.
I can log in to manage my account and start the process, but when I get to what should be the list of trusted devices (step 1), the list is empty and I'm prompted to enter in a number than can receive SMS. I do this using my iphone number, and I recevie a 4 digit verification code via SMS/iMessage, but I can't enter this in to the setup process on the manage my ID site as there is nowhere to enter the code in to in order to have my iphone number tagged as a trusted device. So, I can't get past step 1.
I have been able - in the past - to allow a new device to use icloud keychain using another device to verify it.
All IOS devices are 7.1.1, and the mac is 10.9.3.
For info, I have an iphone, imac, and two ipads all set up using the same apple id, all are signed in to iCloud with the same id for keychain syncing, and all have find my iphone enabled. I can log in to icloud or use the find my phone app and see all my devices in the device list, and locate them. I've tried turning find my iphone off and on - no change, devices still don't appear in the two step verification setup process.
I've rung apple support and no luck - they suggested waiting 24 hours and trying again - but still no worky.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a problem that someone else has been bale to solve? I'd really like two step verification enabled but am stumped.

I had the same problem.
I don't know whether or not it was a coincidence, but I did the following:
Use a computer to Logon to www.icloud.com.
Go into Account Settings.
Click on Advanced.
Then click on logout of all browsers.
I was then able to log into My AppleID and start the two step authentication setup. When I added a new phone, it sent an SMS and it then prompted me for the 4 digit code.
Again, not sure whether this is a coincidence, but I never received the prompt to enter the 4 digit code until I accessed the iCloud website and followed the above steps.

How can I restore my iPhone 4's iOS5 backup without restoring iOS if the option to "Restore from Backup" doesn't appear when I right click it in the device list?

(Lengthy question, I know Let me explain.)
A few days ago, I decided to clear out the music on my computer. So, I copied everything out of iTunes to my external hard drive (podcasts, music, movies, tv shows, books, and apps) and deleted all that I could find, including the iTunes folder. I forgot that the iTunes library files were in there, and those went too; unsurprisingly, I was greeted with an empty library when I next opened iTunes. After adding all my files back from my external hard drive, everything's all good there - no lost files, everything seems fine. However, since my library is a "new" library, iTunes wishes to erase everything on my iPhone 4. Which is also fine, for everything except my apps. I'd really rather not lose all my application settings and data that are saved in my backup. But, I cannot just "Restore from Backup" by right-clicking my device in the list in iTunes, so... I haven't synced my iPhone since I did this, so all of my data is still on there, but it's in the backup as well. If I have to erase all iTunes content, I definitely have to be able to restore the backup over it since I don't want to lose all my settings and Springboard layout. I'd prefer not to restore iOS because I don't want to go from iOS5 to 5.0.1, nor do I have 8 hours to download the IPSW file on my super-speedy internet connection Any guidance on restoring my iPhone from its backup?

Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

It sounds like you are unable to see your contacts in the phone, but have confirmed they are still at http://www.icloud.com. I would next try these troubleshooting steps from the article named:

If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Contacts app on your iOS device:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Contacts preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Contacts app.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on:
Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn Contacts off. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/contacts and on one or more of your devices. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Contacts back on.
Restart your iOS device by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and then swiping the screen when prompted to power off. Then turn your device back on. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

I need help please...my apple ID has been locked after I sold my trusted device and now when I want to active that account the site want me to enter the recovery key and verify code from trusted device but I do have recovery key without trusted device but my password is correct but account is locked...what can I do?I just creat a new ID to write down this topic but my main ID is locked now...I know the answer of security questions but in 2steps system it is not asking anything about that...what should I do ???:(((

Trusted devices for 2 step verification

I have set up 2 step verification with 2 trusted devices - my iphone and my partner's iphone. The problem is that they both have the last 6 digits of the phone number the same. So when I get the option for which phone to receive the code I get a list of two phones with the last two numbers identical. ie I can't distinguish between the two phones. I have tried selecting the first and second and they don't seem to stay in the same order for subsequent logins.
Can anyone please help?

Not sure if this will help, but in my case the last one used has always been the top one in the list the next time -- i.e., when I used the 2nd one in the list, it was the top one next time; when I used the top one in the list, it remained as the top one next time.

There is no "DEVICES" listed on the left side of itunes.

itunes recognizes my ipod and my iphone.. However there is no "Devices" listed on the left side of itunes. My ipod, when I plug it into my puter and open itunes does show up on the row that has songs, allbums, etc on the very right hand side, just to the left of itunes store. when I click on it, "my ipod", it opens up the "on this ipod' screen. And "my ipod" then shows on the very left, same row. When I click on the little arrow just to the right of "my ipod" it shows a drop down menu thta has Music, Movies, tv shows, etc. However there is NO 'Devices" on that drop down menu.
"When in Manual mode, to add songs or playlist, drag them from itunes to the DEVICE icon in the sidebar" I cannot do this because there is no DEVICE icon in the sidebar.
What can I do to solve this please?
What I am wanting to do is to xfer songs that I have on my puter to my ipod. I have xfered them to itunes library. However if I try "syncing" them, I get the 'your ipod is synced to another library' message.
Please do not ask me to reinstall itunes. I went through the whole process of COMPLETELY removing any trace of itunes, quicktime, and all the other things listed in the How to remove itunes completely from your puter. I have checked that Apple mobile device USB Driver is up and installed and running. I have checked to make sure Apple Mobile Device support is instaled and OK.
What else can I do?

By default ringtones won't show up in the left hand column until you have downloaded some.
If they aren't showing after that, or you want it to show even though it is empty, in iTunes preferences you can specify what sections to show.

Re-installed OS X 10.4, now AppleTV will not display in device list

I recently re-installed OS X Tiger on my PB 12". I restored the iTunes library, but am unable to find the AppleTV in the devices list. I removed the connection to iTunes from the previous OS install, but it still doesn't display. I am wary to completely reset the AppleTV, because I have two movies downloaded that we haven't watched yet. Will they remain in the download list so they can download again if I do completely reset the AppleTV?

Well, that isn't the globe I was hoping for. What you see is the spinning colored ball, that means your Mac is still processing (in this case hung).
Did you try starting in Safe Mode? Did that work?
Did you run Repair Disk from your DVD? Did that work?
What makes you think your drive is failing? One more thing you should try is running is Apple Hardware Test:
If CD's came with your computer it is on a CD labeled "Hardware Test" To test with CD, insert the CD and restart holding the "c" key until you see the spinning gear.
If DVD insert DVD then:
1. Turn on or restart the computer.
2. Immediately press and hold the Option key. After a few seconds, the Startup Manger screen appearsThe Startup Manager scans for available volumes.
3. Optional: Clicking the circular arrow rescans for other volumes, including NetBoot Server volumes. You can eject any disc in the drive or open an empty tray-loading drive by holding down the Command (Apple) and Period (.) keys. The Command-Period key combination will also close the drive. After inserting a CD capable of starting up your computer, you could rescan for volumes.
4. Click the startup volume you want to use. "Hardware Test"
If hardware test does not mount or does not run bring the computer to Authorized Apple Repair.

How do I at my iMac, Macbook air and my work Dell PC to my trusted devices for the two step verification of my Apple-ID?

You cannot. The trusted devices are in 2 categories: 1) those that can receive SMS messages and 2) a device that has Find My iPhone, Find My iPad, or Find My iPod Touch enabled (note that Find My Mac is not included in that list).

IE 8 Trusted sites list and Group Policy

I have a problem deploying some IE trusted sites to all our users.
I have previously been able to do this by editing the Local Group Policy, but am finding that what ZCM is telling me now, doesn't make sense. Here's what I'm doing when I edit the policy:
GP Helper in the ZCM console brings up the Group Policy window, then I proceed as follows:
Local Computer Policy / User Configuration / Internet Explorer Maintenance / Security / Security Zones and Content Ratings, click Continue to the prompt about Enhanced Security Configuration, then click Modify Settings.
When I go to the Security tab and open Trusted Sites, the sites I entered are no longer listed (the list is empty), BUT if I try to add the sites back in, I am told that "This Site is already in the Trusted Sites Zone".
If I log on as a user that has this policy applied, the sites are not in the Trusted Sites list.
I really don't want to be in position where I have to do this through a bundle, I figure that's what policy is for! I'm also concerned that if this part of policy is showing some weirdness, maybe other parts of my policy are no longer being applied properly too.
Just a bit stumped at the moment. Has anyone else seen this issue, or has any suggestions for me?

It sounds like you are wondering about removing or adding trusted devices to use with two-step verification for your Apple ID.
You can use these steps to remove or add a trusted device:
As long as you still have your Recovery Key and remember your Apple ID password, you can sign in and add a new trusted device to your account. You can also remove any devices you may have lost, sold, or given away.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), select "Manage your Apple ID," and sign in.
On the Verify Your Identity screen, select "Unable to receive messages at any of your devices?"
In the pop-up window, enter your Recovery Key.
Then, under "Edit your Apple ID," select Password and Security > Trusted devices > Manage.
Remove the device you no longer wish to use to verify your identity.
Either verify another device already listed, or select "Set up Find My iPhone" to add a new trusted device to your list.

Remove old iPhone from Device List in Colorsync Utility?

Does anyone know how to remove an old iPhone (that I no longer have access to) from the Device List in Colorsync Utility? I've done a spotlight search for the text and have come up empty handed. It must be hiding in a plist somewhere...but where?

It seems that the device list is stored in a hidden preference file. You can delete the file, or you can edit it with a free application called "PrefSetter." Deleting it would be easier, but you'll have to recreate some of your settings in System Preferences.
Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
rm Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist

Apple TV does not show up in device list

I've read all the post with the same subject but still can not get the Apple TV to show up in the device list of itunes.
I have multiple computers on a wired/wireless network, one is a windows XP laptop machine and it sees the Apple TV fine, can sync with itunes works great. This machine is connected via wireless connection. This machine does not have my music or photos that I want to sync so I want to sync the Apple TV with my desktop, I was just using the laptop as a diagnostic tool and to better understand the interaction between itunes and the Apple TV. I have tried all the steps given and still can not get the Apple TV to show up as a device on the desktop.
I originally had norton firewall on the desktop, uninstalled that so it would not be in the way, did not help. Windows firewall is not enabled.
I have sharing enabled in itunes and I have look for Apple TVs enabled. I have rebooted the router, Apple TV, computers etc. Reinstalled itunes.
I have a linksys wreless router in the system. I have tried connectnig the desktop via a wired connection as well as a wireless connection, no difference. The Apple TV can get on the wireless network fine, it can access the internet fine to play movie trailer etc. I have also connected it directly to the router via a cable, does not help. I tried connecting the desktop to the Apple TV directly with a crossed ethernet cable, did not work.
The desktop can ping the Apple TV.
I am assuming I do not have a problem with ports as the laptop sees the Apple TV fine?
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the Apple Discussion Forums.
To summarise and for clarity: You have set up your laptop itunes library and it works as it should with the tv, now you are trying to add your desktop and it doesn't see the tv.
First point: the Laptop is your primary library, you can only have one primary library and if you wish to sync from the desktop you will need to make that your primary library instead of the laptop. You will need to turn of syncing for the laptop and register the desktop with the tv for syncing first and then the laptop as a secondary (streaming only) library. If you are trying to use your desktop without de-registering the laptop it will only ever be a secondary (streaming) library.
You may have realised this and if so all well and good, but if not you might want to continue to establish your desktop as a secondary library and satisfy yourself that all is well before turning off your laptop and setting everything up again.
On the assumption you are setting up the desktop as a secondary library at this time, how far have you got with registering the desktop, have you successfully entered the pass codes, did the tv show in the device list at any stage. As a secondary library itunes will only show the tv in it's device list when that itunes library is selected as the source library from the tv itself, could this be why you are unable to see it in the device list.

My MacBook Pro was stolen last night. I need the serial number. It is not showing up on my devices list. My iPads and iPhones are. I have used it to to sync my phones and pads as well having it registered with apple. Any thoughts? Thanks

SIgn in with your Apple ID, the same one you used to access this support forum.
Hopefully, you will see a list of all the devices you registered with your Apple ID, including their serial numbers. Let me know how this works out.
Edit to add: If you enabled "find my imac" on your Pro, you ought to be able to remotely lock it, or even wipe its memory. Click http://www.icloud.com/ sign in with your Apple ID and click the big green "find my iPhone" icon (nevermind the name, it will find all your devices provided they're running Lion or iOS 5).
Then file a police report and nail the b*****d.
