My tv is in a different room than my landlord's wireless router- can I still use my Apple TV?

I just moved into a new apartment and want to start using my Apple TV, 2nd generation.  (The black one)  My landlord provides wireless and has the router at another location in my building.  Is there a way to bypass having to plug the apple tv into the router?  It's not possible to plug into the router and my tv at the same time.  Can I connect to the wireless in some other way or is there another piece of hardware I need to buy?  Thanks guys.

Apple TV works wirelessly too, so long as it gets the WiFi signal it will work.  The only issue may be signal strength and if multiple users are on the same network you may experience slow download times.

  • Hi my partner used my email address and iTunes account to set up his iPhone and now both our phones have merged! Does anyone know how to separate these? Can he still use our iTunes account with a different Id or email! Please help!!

HI my partner used my apple id and email address when setting up his iPhone so when he turned on iCloud our phones merged!! How do we undo this? Can he still use my iTunes account with a different Id and can he change the email on his phone without losing information? Also iPad is linked too, the family uses this and I would like to keep my phone separate! At the moment nothing is sacred! Please help! We are not very good with computers!!

Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies
I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have anymore question.

  • HOW TO?: Need help setting up 3 different iCloud accounts for my kids (so each has own iMessanger)using same Apple ID (mine) ....they don't have their own separate email addresses to work from...how do I do this?

Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account.  For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud).

  • HT3819 Why can't I use my apple TV to share more than one iTunes account?

My partner and I both have seperate iTunes accounts, understandably. And we both use our appleTV, understandably. Why can't we set up apple TV to play music / watch shows from both of our computers? I hope this is not because I haven't read the manual.

You CAN use the ATV to share more than one iTunes library. Homesharing however require you to use the SAME apple ID on both computer. I have homesharing turned on both my girlfriend and my computer with me signed in on both computers and the ATV. Both itunes librarie show up on the ATV as long as both computer are ON.

  • Cpu in different room than monitor and keyboard?

I was actually wondering of this was possible. I would like to have my G5 connected to a 10/100 ethernet network and have the monitor, keyboard and mouse be on that network in a different place (my kitchen). Is there hardware that will allow this?

    Hi MikeinVegas-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards
    The short answer is yes.
This is the type of unit that you will need: USB KVM Extender via CAT5
Two things to consider. First, most of these units use VGA video only so make sure your graphics card is capable.
Second, you don't actually use these device on the "network" per se, although they do connect via ethernet cable, which makes it easier to run and hide the cable than other solutions.
    Luck-

  • I have a new Iphone but it's with a different account than my last Iphone.  How can I sync my contacts???

I had an Iphone 4S from AT&T and now I own an Iphone 5S from Sprint.  the two accounts are mine but I have them under different Itune accounts.
How can I sync my contacts????

Thank you for your help.  Your answer helped me the best .  I have 2 I.d.'s because I my daughter was on my first account and I was getting all her text messages and it was messing up us both because I would get her stuff and she would get mine.  I use my phone for personal use and work.  I needed one separate account so my personal things stood personal. I'm sure there was a way to stop it but I'm always so busy working that I didn't have time and having another account was the easiest and least time consuming way.

  • I bought an itunes gift card in a different country than my account is reg to, can i use it??

my acc is reg in ireland, i am currently in new zealand and bought a gift card, i cant work out how to use it, help!

    You can't.
    They are country specific.
You could get a New Zealand address, then get a credit card that is billed to that address, then set up an account in New Zealand, and as long as you are inside the Borders of New Zealand, then you could redeem the card.

  • We downloaded maverick - have 2 Mac desktops in 2 different rooms that no longer connect wirelessly to the printer. It says it can't find the server.

Can't figure out how to update Airport utility. All of the sudden our printer isn't connected.

Is this printer connected to the USB port of an AirPort base station? If so, what is the exact model of the base station and the make & model of the printer?

  • I downloaded Mozilla when I first got my Mac.Is it a better than Safari?I tried Safari and I did not care for it. So can I still use cmd t or cmd n for opening multiple sites?

I downloaded Mozilla firefox when I first got my mac as I did not like safari.Thah being said, which is better? and lastly can I still use cmd t or cmd with firefox for opening multiple sites? Thanks,Ralph

You need to visit this page and learn all about Firefox's awesome features, don't ignore the add-ons, toolbar>customize or persona's they really personalize Firefox.
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/central/
Also you need to make sure your browser plugins are current for your whole machine, Safari included.

I hope one day Apple will make Safari as awesome as Firefox and allow the choice it has, but not today.

  • Upgraded to cs4 can I still use cs3 on a different computer

I upgraded to cs4 from cs3. Can I continue to use cs3 on another computer?

You can. But if you cannot have another person using the program at the same time you are using CS4. You can even have CS4 on two computers, as long as it is only one user at a time.
Many people keep both CS3 and CS4 on their computers because they might need to fall back to the older system because of a bug (when the program is new) or because they can do something quicker in the old version, at a later time.

  • Network Two Printer in Different Rooms

I currently have a airport extreme with a shared printer connected to it. My my two printers can print to this shared printer like it is supposed to. I would like to add another shared printer, however I want it in a different room than where my airport extreme is located. I was thinking of buying an airport express and incorporating it into the network with the other printer connected to it. That way it would be shared. Seems to work logically.
Does anyone have a working setup like I describe it above? One (1) airport extreme as the base, one (1) airport express as the network expander and two (2) shared printers (one on each airport).

    Let me suggest some things.
But first ask exactly what wireless router you have now and what type of broadband service?
Are you happy with the wireless on the current router? If so, then you can plug the TC straight into whatever computer you have by ethernet, short 1M cord with no connection to the network. And use it without affecting your existing network at all. This is trivial setup.
Although you don't say exactly what Mac and printer you are using, is it a desktop? Laptop it is definitely easier not to plug it in, but a desktop you can plug in the TC and it will all sit happily together.
How is the printer connected and to what?
I am not sure why you need such quick help.. this is all minor setup stuff.. and 18months in todays world is like permanent man.
Your multiple A, B, C are more confusing than helpful.
The best choices without more info.. are to replace the existing wireless router with the TC. ie your option B.. but how to do this depends on the type of connection. Is it cable or adsl? Can you easily bridge the existing modem router.. if that is what it is?
Think carefully in the ideal world what would you like..
    and what do you have..
We can probably suggest ways and means to fit what you like to what you have.. without introducing a stack of options that are doing your head in.

  • Bullet Using Different Font than Body Text

I would like to have a bullet that uses a different font than the body text. Say, for text I use Verdana, and for the bullet I would like to use a glyph from Zapf Dingbats. I seem to not be able to figure out how to set this up -- the bullet always uses the same font as the text.
    Thanks for your help.
    -- Stefan

If you Option-Click on the bullet character, you can select it on its own, separate from the body text. You can then apply whatever font you want, and in the Text Inspector, in the Bullets palette, you can type whatever character you want in the Text Bullets field. (If you want this character for all of your bullets, it would be easiest to do this editing on the slide masters, rather than the individual slides.)

  • AP On Different Vlan Than Controller

I have a 5508 controller at our headquarters and am installing some 3502 AP's at a remote branch.  Unfortunatly, the remote branch has a different Vlan setup for some reason and the vlan that is used for the WLC (90) is designated for telephony at this branch.  Can I put the AP's on a different VLAN (10) without having any issues?  I will still use DHCP option 43 to point them back to the controller. Below are the configs for the WLC interfaces and what I am proposing for the AP interfaces:
    WLC Config
    interface GigabitEthernet1/1/38
    description WLC01
    switchport
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 90
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10,50,90,91,390,410-413,610-613,800,810,811
    switchport mode trunk
    channel-group 5 mode on
    interface GigabitEthernet1/1/39
    description WLC01
    switchport
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 90
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10,50,90,91,390,410-413,610-613,800,810,811
    switchport mode trunk
    channel-group 5 mode on
    interface Port-channel5
    switchport
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 90
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10,50,90,91,390,410-413,610-613,800,810,811
    switchport mode trunk
    AP Interface Config
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
    description *** Access Point AP001 ***
    switchport access vlan 10
    switchport mode access
    spanning-tree portfast
    Will this work?

    Hi Pat,
When deciding to do LOCAL mode or CENTRAL SWITCH mode you need to consider a few items:
    1) NAT -- If there is a NAT between both locations almost all customers would rather LOCAL mode. Reason being is the ability to access local resources without nat issues. Remember, central model has all traffic and IP addressing coming from the main office.
    2) Internet / Main office connection - If the remote office is on a MPLS for exmaple. Using local switching is reartly used becuase if you lose the conenction with the main office you have bigger issues then having wireless access.
These are the 2 questions my customers always look at ...
    I hope this helps...

I set up my ipad a s new ipad rather than syncing with my iphone.  Can I still do this now that it has been set up or is it too late?

Depends on what you want to sync.
Contacts and calendars - yes with icloud.
photos yes with computer and future pictures with icloud.
Apps - does not make since, since apps are different for ipad and iphone.
