My unlock button is stuck. Won't respond.

I didn't drop it or anything just playing on it, went to lock it, wouldn't respond. The button is jammed and doesn't come back up. 4th Gen Ipod touch. What should I do? Does apple fix this problem? Can an Apple store clean it out for me?

do you still have one year warrntee? if yes go to apple and ask them if they can fix it. My power button (unlock button) doesn't work either and i can still turn it off and unlock, lock, to turn it on without power button is simple press home button and put in passcode and open settings app and goto general > Accessibility > assistive touch and click the off thing.

  • HT201406 I pod-touch touchscreen does not respond, when try to slide the slidder to turn unlock the device it won't respond

    Hello,
please help. when try to slide the slidder to turn onlock it won;t respond.

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Hold Button on Itouch Won't Respond

I just got my itouch a month ago and now the hold/sleep/power off button wont respond. No matter how long I push it, it won't do anything. So I can't reset my itouch either. What do I do?

  • Sleep button is stuck won't press down

My power/sleep/screen lock button on the top of my iphone 4 won't work unless I push down REALLY hard on it! It no longer has that springy clicky push to it anymore, it kind of just lays there and looks like it has sunk in a bit I have no idea why it would be doing this because my phone is well taken care of. I have a front and back screen protector on it and it has always been in a case and has never been dropped or exposed to water.

I have only had the phone since August of 2012

  • My middle button seems stuck and won't respond. Help?

My middle button for the iPhone 3GS seems stuck or sticky and won't respond. Voice control keeps popping up because the iPhone thinks I am pushing the middle button to make it do the voice control. Any advice on what to do?

    stoughie,
I'm sorry to hear that your phone is having data and power issues. That's never awesome! smashogre had a great tip, too. I hope it has worked for you. If not, I do recommend an alternative reset to return the phone to the factory settings. If after these steps, it still isn't functioning properly, please direct message me so I can assist you further.
    Thank you,

  • IPhone 5 touchscreen won't respond until lock button is pressed.

Got a wierd problem.  I replaced a cracked display in my wife's iPhone 5 and now the touchscreen is having issues.  It happens like this:
    1. Hit the home button, lock/unlock button or a call comes in
    2. touchscreen doesn't respond
    3. hit the lock/unlock button to lock the phone
    4. hit home button or lock/unlock again
    5. touchscreen works perfectly now
Happens every single time.  With or without case.  I was wondering if it might be a grounding issue, but not sure how to fix it.  What's the deal?

Bummer.  Try asking at http://www.ifixit.com or some place similar.
The iPhone is not considered user servicable. Apple does not sell iPhone parts. There are no legitimate sources for iPhone parts.
Now that you opened it yourself, Apple won't touch it in or out of warranty.

  • I tried double tapping home button and scrolling right but didn't work. I am trying to correct my message page that is turned sideways and won't respond to shake or turning phone around. What else can I do?

I tried double tapping my home button and swiped to the right but did not help me. I am trying to straighten my message page that is stuck sideways and won't respond to shaking or turning phone around. What else can I do?

Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).
    SCREEN ROTATION
Lock the screen in portrait orientation: Double-click the Home button, swipe the multitasking bar from left to right, then tap icon with the circular arrow in a square. Read this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3805

The Find my iPhone service option is given to you when you first set up the device. If you just reset it, you may have been given that option. So, in other words, the service may have been enabled even if you didn't realize it. You can then go to www.icloud.com and click on Find my iPhone, and have it play a sound. Or, you can use the Find my iPhone app on your mom's iPhone, but the service would still need to be turned on on your iPod.
Unlike Compukid said, Apple will not assist in locating a lost device without the Find my iPhone service.
I found that out 2 years ago, it's just that I thought Apple might have changed that.

  • IPhone 4 crashed, blank screen, broken home button, and iTunes won't allow access unless I "respond with phone," how do I reboot or get my data off this phone?

The power button on my iPhone broke a few months ago, so I have been using the assisted touch feature to lock the screen.  Last night, in the middle of using an app, the phone froze and nothing working except the assisted touch icon (I could use it and move it around). I locked the screen using this, which evidently was a mistake, because now I have a blank screen that won't respond to anything. When I connect the charger, the phone still makes the normal sounds and vibrations, but the screen is blank.  I can't do a hard reboot without the power button.  I recently bought a new computer, so today I downloaded iTunes, but iTunes wants me to "respond with the phone" in order to continue.  How can I at LEAST upload my contacts, photos and video from this phone?  Or is there a trick I can try to bring it back from this black screen that is non-responsive?  And NO...I'm not interested in putting it in the freezer!!

Honestly the hard really right now to say what you can do. How long have you had the device? If it's under a year you can take it to apple store and they can switch it out for free. If it's over a year then it would be at a paid cost cause they can't fix that issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS4268 when using iMessage, sometimes the send button won't respond.  I've tried restarting the ipad mini, but no luck.  It still works on my laptop.  Any suggestions?

How can I get the "send " button to work.  I've been using messages for some time, but occasionally it won't respond when I hit 'Send"??

Messages only works with other iOS devices, but if you were trying to text with a non Apple device you should see a not Registered error with a red exclamation mark. Maybe you are typing the message in the subject field by accident.
    Go to Settings>Messages>Show Subject Field>Off.

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    King P,
I have the same problem with Mail on an iPad 2, though the freezing has only occurred in the past few weeks and only when I'm deleting mail (with the Edit function, or swiping to the right, or tapping the trash icon). I had already tried your first solution (closing Mail in the taskbar), and I have just now tried your second (reset with Sleep and Home keys pressed simultaneously). Tried twice (I release both buttons when the white Apple logo appears). But no luck: I tap Edit, then tap each email in the left column to select. The first one or two I want to delete will go into delete mode, but then the whole thing freezes. I've deleted mail like this since last year, so I'm not doing anything wrong.
Whoops! I just tried again and the Edit-then-Delete function worked. Maybe I had to give it a 5-minute rest to get its marbles back in order. If the cure works, you have my heartfelt thanks.
Nope! At least not perfectly. It worked at first and I deleted a handful of mail, but when I tried to delete another dozen, I was able to select them all, but when I hit the delete button on the bottom ("delete-12"), it froze. Then, a minute later, without my doing anything (as I was editing this post), the selected emails properly disappeared. Maybe I'm just trying to work too fast?
