MY URL bar disappeared!

I was using (as always) Safari 4 and by some weird finger movement I was typing something in google search bar/URL bar and then I heard "swish" (kind of similar to sound when you drag and drop into trash can)- I think I hit an F key by mistake- and then WHOOSH- the menu/URL bar disappeared and that side bar to directly put in a google search/keywords is also gone-- the Bookmarks bar is all up but there is NO WAY TO TYPE IN ANY URL ADDRESS OR EVEN GET TO ANY NEW WEBSITE OR DO A GOOGLE SEARCH- I CAN'T TYPE IN "GOOGLE.COM" ANYWHERE?! OR "YAHOO.COM" "MOBILEME.COM" ETC!!! I HAVE GONE thru prefs and such- but there is nothing- Even under "FILE" the "OPEN LOCATION" option can NOT be highlighted/used! What did I do and HOW do I get it back?!!! I relaunched Safari- new version 4.0.1 direct download from Apple- no luck. I restarted several times- but the URL bar is gone! PLEASE advise...

Found in a history topic- so just in case this happens to anyone currently (this was from a post yesterday!) and I didn't know what to call URL bar either:-)
Problem resolved- but interested to know HOW did I delete it by mistake??? I don't want to repeat that finger/keyboard action again:-0

From the Safari Menu Bar click View/Customize Toolbar. Just drag the default bar up or customize by dragging the icons up.

  • URL Bar disappeared, and Add-ons aren't coming back.

Hi Folks. Once again Firefox is making me mad, I woke up this morning, turned on the old computer, started Firefox, and I have no URL bar. I've been trying to restore it, but no luck. Been searching the Firefox forums for a few hours, found similar questions, but ...no cigar. I have version 36.0.4 of Firefox. Can someone please explain how it disappeared and how to get it back?
I uninstalled FF, fully. And re-installed it. URL bar still gone. Also, I signed in to my SYNC, but my add-ons aren't coming back either.
    I would appreciate your help.

Do you still have the Navigation Toolbar visible with other toolbar buttons and the Tab bar?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br>Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.
Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Safari URL bar disappeared

The URL bar on Safari disappeared and when I open a 'new tab' under 'file' a new tab appears but the tab says 'untitled' and a new browser does not open. I think I did something by mistake. What should I do? Please help me with a very non technical answer. I tried resetting to the default settings but this did not help.

I think I may not have explained my problem well. Until I did something which I probably should not have done, I could simply type a URL and the given web site would appear. Now, the only way I can get to a URL is to go to yahoo or google, do a search for the URL and then click on the URL when it is listed among the results for the search. I want to get the browser back to the way it way before and have it provide me with the option of typing in a URL near the top of the screen. I am neither asking how to include a URL in the toolbar nor how to include a URL as a favorite.
    Does this help?
    Thank you.

  • My Safari URL bar disappeared.. not sure how to fix it.

Well, it's just what the title says. I have my bookmarks and everything, but the URL bar is gone and I'm not sure how to fix it.

    Thank you so much!

  • URL bar disappeared???

I was messing around with my system preferences and somehow got rid of my URL bar. Now, the only way I can go to a certain website is by going through all of my bookmarks, some of which I do not have a bookmark for. I am also incapable of going back a page which is a big inconvenience. What do I need to do to get my URL bar back?

Assuming you mean in Safari, select View menu > Show Toolbar.
If it helps in the future, you can use Command + Left Arrow (home) as a keyboard shortcut for page back, and the delete key will also take you back a page if the cursor is not in a text field. Command + Right Arrow (end) is page forward.
    Hope this helps...

  • Where is my url bar? Why is this such a P.I.T.A? Thanks.

My url bar disappeared this morning and I have been trying to get it back for hours. Viewing and customizing my toolbar isn't working. I've tried the sychronized pressing control and + buttons to no avail. I can't believe that this process is so ridiculously, needlessly difficult. Can someone help me?

Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file  (preferences)
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari. Click View from the menu bar... click Customize Toolbar from the drop down menu.
If that worked, move that.plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.
If that didn't help, go to ~/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Try View > Customize Toolbar again.
BTW... when you post for help, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. Thank you!

  • Url bar

My url bar disappeared. "Show Tool Bar" doesn't get it back. Can anyone help?

My mom's url bar has disappeared also along with the back and forward buttons. In fact the entire line below the stop lights in safari. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • Where did my URL bar go?

I've been using Safari on my 10.3.9 eMac with Yahoo as my homepage since that is what I use for my email accounts. All of a sudden my google search engine and URL bar disappeared and the only way I can go to sites that aren't bookmarked already is use Yahoo's lame search engine to try and find them. I have to do the same thing to go to google's great search engine. Is Yahoo trying to dominate my web surfing experience? Any suggestions of how I can have a home page (I don't care if it's not Yahoo) that gives me easy access to my Yahoo email, Google's search engine, and a URL bar I can just type in web sites? Thanks for any help.

If you entire toolbar disappeared, that can be restored by choosing the View > Show Toolbar menu item in Safari.
But if your Address bar and Search bar disappeared, you can restore those by choosing View > Customize Toolbar… from the Safari menu bar and dragging them back into place.

  • Horizontal scroll bar disappears in URL isolation method iview

    Hello Experts,
I am facing a strange problem. In MSS --> Reporting, when the report is generated, it is shown in a new window. That iview is basically having URL isolation method which has been disabled i.e. it cannot be changed(It is an iview created by SAP). The problem is the scroll bars. The report is basically a R3 report which has scroll bars but when it is displayed in the iview, the horizontal scroll bar disappears.
The requirement is to have both the scroll bars.
The horizontal scroll bar appears for a while when we manually resize the window.
I have checked the windows parameters also in which the scroll bars are set to 1 through code in WD java(not in the iview properties).
    Please help !!
    Thanks & Regards

    Vikash,
Header and footer can be handled from the property 'tray' of the page and iview. But this is not a matter of concern. Try the following to see if the report is getting generated-
    1) Try toying with the properties of page- 'authentication scheme', 'initial state-open', 'isolation method-embedded','metadata for navigation hierarchy-cacheable'.
If the above do not help-
    1) Preview your iView from the admin console.
    2) Right click on the opened up window (where the report is getting displayed) and select properties.
    3) Copy the address URL from that.
    4) Create a URL iView for the above copied URL
    5) Use this new iView to see if it resolves your problem. OR assign this to a page and then see it that helps.
Its really strange to believe the above, but it actually helped me in one scenario. Let's give it a try and then I can explain further its reasoning.

  • Spry Menu Bar disappears absolute position

Hello all this is my first time posting on this site so bear with me. I have a semi-transperant spry menu bar that i inserted into the header div, over an image. I moved the menu bar -38px, when the position is set to relative the menu bar is visible, however the old position of the menu bar has a blank white space there. I think this is due to the relative position property. When i change it to absolute the whole menu bar disappears? http://www.brightlikethesun.com/index2.html (the position is back to relative to show the menu bar and also background for header is blue to show the space)

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

<p><img src="BLTS2.jpg" alt="BLTS" width="411" height="297" align="left" /><img src="BLTS font.jpg" width="340" /> is a Post-Rock band from San Antonio. They were born in early 2012 from the collective desire to make beautiful, thought provoking, and at times, chaotic music. Much like fellow Texan bands like Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You, they are entirely instrumental, and known for creating progressively intricate waves of ambiance that grow with intensity and an unabashed wash of emotion. Attuned to their affinity for dynamics, seeing them live takes the listener from deafening walls of orchestrated sound, to melodies so subtle that one finds themselves acutely aware of their own breathing. <br />
Bright Like The Sun&rsquo;s debut album, Coda Fin, was engineered/mixed by Alex Bhore (of This Will Destroy You), and mastered by TW Walsh (of Pedro The Lion). The record, which was self released, was made available on April 12, 2013.<br /><br /><img src="BLTS3.jpg" width="330" height="245" align="right" /></p>

    What I see:
You need a width on the ul.MenuBarVertical style. Make it the same width as the ul.MenuBarVertical li selector.
Remove the float: none; from this style:
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul li
         width: 12em;
         float: none;
No such measurement as a half a pixel:
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul
         border: .5px solid #CCC;
If you want a border, 1px is minimum...you repeat this incorrect half-pixel in several places.
Running your page through the W3C Validator returned this: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.healthydirections.ca%2F&charset=%28dete ct+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
Your initial errors are not declaring a DOCTYPE, which among other things, does not provide the browser with any information regarding how you want the code interpreted for your viewer. Some browsers guess well, some do not (IE).
    This
         <html>
    is insufficient.
Apply this in its place, and run through the validator again.

  • How can I display the URL bar and bookmarks bar when I have the addons page opened?

It seems counter-intuitive to me that the Firefox addons page does not have the same toolbars that other tabs have, and I have not found an option to add them back in (or an addon to fix it). Instead of being able to enter a URL directly from the addons page or click a bookmark, I must navigate away from the tab before I can go anywhere else. Additionally, it graphically looks out of place when I shift through tabs and most of the toolbars disappear for a second as I move over the addons tab.
Some other utilities that use their own pages manage to preserve the toolbar customization without removing it completely, so I'm wondering if there's a way for the addons page to do it as well.
An example of another utility that has its own page without removing the toolbars is the Download Manager Tweak addon. One of its options allows the user to open their download page as a tab, which also contains the toolbar customization of normal, browser tabs.
    Thanks in advance!

    Just for reference:
The solution to press a hotkey to move the text focus to a hidden navigation item (e.g. the URL bar or the search bar) was only a temporary fix, and only worked for Ctrl+K (search bar, maybe ctrl+E too but I didn't test it).
The problem didn't really bug me all too much until tonight, so I installed the Stylish script from the StackOverflow link above and the problem is solved now.

  • Troubleshoot with Safari Internet URL bar

This is in regards to the Safari Internet. The link bar at the top of my internet browser is not showing anymore. That is, the bar to type in the URL of a site... www... has disappeared and i can't seem to get it back anymore. I may have clicked something accidentally and now i can't seem to figure out how to get it back again. Can something please help me figure this out. On the View>Customize Toolbar option, the URL bar appears in the toolbar, yet in reality, it really isn't there. Help? Thank you in advance!

    Hello an:
I think I understand your last post (maybe) as we may be having a terminology problem
When you open Safari you should have two "bars" - the toolbar and, under that, the bookmark bar.
As I understand your post, you still do not have an address field in the toolbar. Click on view>customize toolbar. Drag the "go to this address/google" item to the toolbar. After that, you may customize your bookmark bar any way you wish by showing all bookmarks and changing the bookmark bar items.

  • URL bar gone

I somehow made the URL bar at the top of Safari disappear last night and I have no idea how to get it back. I've downloaded the new Safari, but it didn't change anything.

    Hi Melissa,
Under the View menu at the top of the screen you should be able to re-enable it.
If it's already showing the back/forward buttons, then you will need to use the Customize... option to re-drag the URL bar back in place.

  • Url line disappeared!

    Hi,
I tried to add a new top site in an opening window and dragged url line down. It crashed like if thrown in a bin and disappeared!!!!
(I can't really open websites now, unless I go to history and google it.)
Could you please help to move the url line back? I already tried to reinstall Safari, but it didn't help.
    Thank you for some advices,
    Lenka

OK, with Safari open, go up to the "View" Menu, and pull down
    "Customize Toolbar."
Then you'll see all the things you can add.
Take the URL bar, and drag it over to yours.
    Easy!
