Probally something silly but please help!

Open Safari. Go to view from the menu bar and select "customize toolbar." Drag what you wish to the toolbar.

The main search bar lives in the Toolbar, so the first question is to check that the Toolbar is being shown.

Somehow deleted the broswer from firefox, cant type in websites? Help?

I had a ton of tool bars so I deleted those, but in the process I somehow managed to delete my browser from the top of firefox. I cannot type in websites, have no back button or refresh button etc. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but that didnt work.....Any ideas?

You probably turned off the display of the Navigation Toolbar. Be sure that it is checked.

I used to be able to type in things in the url bar and scearch things, and not I can't help?

I used to be able to type in keywords in the URL bar and it would automaticly do a google search on it. Now it doesn't.
I've tried everything,
please help I want my keyword search back.

MY URL bar disappeared!

I was using (as always) Safari 4 and by some weird finger movement I was typing something in google search bar/URL bar and then I heard "swish" (kind of similar to sound when you drag and drop into trash can)- I think I hit an F key by mistake- and then WHOOSH- the menu/URL bar disappeared and that side bar to directly put in a google search/keywords is also gone-- the Bookmarks bar is all up but there is NO WAY TO TYPE IN ANY URL ADDRESS OR EVEN GET TO ANY NEW WEBSITE OR DO A GOOGLE SEARCH- I CAN'T TYPE IN "GOOGLE.COM" ANYWHERE?! OR "YAHOO.COM" "MOBILEME.COM" ETC!!! I HAVE GONE thru prefs and such- but there is nothing- Even under "FILE" the "OPEN LOCATION" option can NOT be highlighted/used! What did I do and HOW do I get it back?!!! I relaunched Safari- new version 4.0.1 direct download from Apple- no luck. I restarted several times- but the URL bar is gone! PLEASE advise...

Found in a history topic- so just in case this happens to anyone currently (this was from a post yesterday!) and I didn't know what to call URL bar either:-)
Problem resolved- but interested to know HOW did I delete it by mistake??? I don't want to repeat that finger/keyboard action again:-0

From the Safari Menu Bar click View/Customize Toolbar. Just drag the default bar up or customize by dragging the icons up.

The URL bar autocomplete feature is not working correctly, does anyone else have this problem?

I was running version 9.x and had this problem, so I have just updated to Firefox 11 but this is not helping.
The issue is that the URL bar will not let me type a new address in some cases - prefering instead to refer me to a previously visited address. Perhaps it would be better if I gave an example:
I am trying to go to a site I haven't visited before, e.g. holden.com.au
I type 'h', and the URL bar suggests that I go to my Hotmail login page (the URL for this starts with 's'), and autofills the rest of the far (so now I am in the situation where I have an address in the bar starting with 's'). This means I can't continue entering the intended address.
Can this be fixed, or is it just an issue for me?

I have resolved this issue by going into about:config and toggling the browser.urlbar.autoFill setting. I think the default setting must have been changed in a recent update.

URL Bar disappeared, and Add-ons aren't coming back.

Hi Folks. Once again Firefox is making me mad, I woke up this morning, turned on the old computer, started Firefox, and I have no URL bar. I've been trying to restore it, but no luck. Been searching the Firefox forums for a few hours, found similar questions, but ...no cigar. I have version 36.0.4 of Firefox. Can someone please explain how it disappeared and how to get it back?
I uninstalled FF, fully. And re-installed it. URL bar still gone. Also, I signed in to my SYNC, but my add-ons aren't coming back either.

Do you still have the Navigation Toolbar visible with other toolbar buttons and the Tab bar?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear. UserChrome.css - difference between URL bar in Verified/Normal modes?

Just to make it clear at the start, I'm using the Pale Moon optimised build rather than normal Firefox - however, I don't think that actually makes any difference to this question.
As I never use the history dropdown button, the Bookmark button or the Go button in the address bar, I added three lines into userChrome.css to hide them:

#urlbar .autocomplete-history-dropmarker { display: none !important; }
#go-button-stack { display: none !important; }
This works fine and hides all three buttons. However, if the website you're on is Verified (i.e. you get the nice shiny colourful 'Verified by: XXXXXX' details on the left of the URL bar, there ends up being a little gap at the right-hand side of the URL bar that's not present when the website is NOT verified.
It implies to me that the Verified bit is a kind of optional sub-component of the main URL bar which leaves space at the end for any buttons, including a default gap between buttons, so when you hide those buttons all that's left is the default gap.
Is there anything I can do to stop this gap appearing when I remove these buttons?

Cant type in URL bar

A very strange Safari problem... everything works fine except when I attempt to type in the url bar or the Google search window... then Safaru crashes. I can access sites from my bookmarks no problem... Just cant type a url.
Tried all the usual stuff as well as re-installing but to no avail.
I installed iTunes 7.6 last night after the keynote. Could that be causing the problem???

Sorry... i reset Safari, turned off plug-ins, deleted plist file and re-installed. Anything else I shoudl do would be appreciated!

I have my settings to not fill in the URL bar when I type. Yet, when I type something, it's giving me a drop down of sites that match as I type. Why? And how do I get it to stop? It's really annoying.

Do you have an extension to make that setting or did you change the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.urlbar.maxRichResults browser.urlbar.maxRichResults] on the about:config page to 0 or -1?

Are you using the old Firefox 3.0.17 version (Help > About) that shows in your post or gives that the wrong version?
In the Firefox 3.0.x versions you are limited about what to do with the location bar.

How do I get my address bar back? If I type in the URL of a website I need to navigate to, instead Mozilla is doing a Google Search and giving those results. How do I get the address bar back?

My address bar where I type in the URL has disappeared. I've searched through Help options, and found only one piece of moderately useful information (following) in Menu Reference. It is: "Open Location… Focuses on the Firefox URL bar so you can type in a new location to visit." However, Open Location is not included as a menu item in the File Tab in my Mozilla dropdown menu. I am not in Full Screen mode so that is not the problem! I think this may have happened last night when I went into Tools, then chose Options. I had been looking around to find out how to set up multiple tabs to open at Start-Up. Both Internet Explorer and Chrome have that option, and it's an important option to me. Firefox apparently does not over that feature, unfortunately. After looking through all the tab choices under Tools - Options, I went to the View menu, and chose Customize. I tried to add the Flexible Space icon, and it ended up being a mess so I had to remove those. The only thing I can think of is that it may have happened then, but I am not sure. I need my Address Bar back so that I can type in the URLS and just go to the websites.

Open Firefox -> Go to View -> Toolbars -> Chechmark on "Navigation Toolbar"
this will bring back your address bar (where you type links to go to websites :P )
