Go to Apple Menu>About This Mac>More Info>USB
Check if your "USB High Speed Bus" is active. If it is, you probably have an issue with a USB cord or something.
If it is not active, you might have a motherboard problem. That needs to go to Apple for repair.

Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
If not successful, then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • MSI VOX TV Tuner USB 2.0 - POWER ADAPTER WHERE TO BUY!

I purchased a generic power adapter from radioshak.
it works perfect to power the msivox box.
    It has selectable volts on it. 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9, and 12
    2A
I have it set to 4.5 volts, as 6 is to much and 3 is not enough.
you might be able to find something with more options on it.
The beauty with this thing is that you can purchase ANY
end you want, and it just happens that radioshak
also carries an end that fits the MSI vox.
The end is classified as "A" size.
When you plug the end into the power adapter,
make sure that you align the word TIP (on the p.a. cord) with the (-)negative side of the size "A" end  you bought
The cost was around $1.50 for the end
and $20 for the adapter, however, I had it before I bought the msivox. lucky me!
There is a slight humming noise if I push the size A end to far into the msivox, I assume this creates
some sort of interference, so to eleviate the noise, I just slowly remove the end until the noise stops,
but before the unit loses power from loss of contact.
    hope this helps.

A generic adapter should work just fine although you may need to install drivers for it.
Incidentally the new 2nd gen X1 Carbon uses a proprietary connector, not USB. You can buy a replacement for it from Lenovo or less expensively by googling on the FRU number and buying from an independent seller. The advantage of using the proprietary adapter rather than a generic USB adapter is that it saves the USB ports for other uses.

  • Power adapter port frying power adapter?

    sequences of events:
    1) travel with madsonline power adapter, months ago when plugged in, cord is yanked, bent the met ring around the male part of the adapter, pried it back to a sort of circular shape, fits back in adapter port and with proper placement charges machine
    2) after months of using original apple adapter at home, always detected and charges, and the madsonline on the road, with some proper setting into the adapter port will charge, when on the road the machine stopped detecting the power adapter
    3) bought new apple brand power adapter, plugged into port, circle is green but machine did not detect the adapter, no charge
    4) went to local apple sales and repair place (not an apple store) and while there, using another adapter, machine detects and charges (the tech at store heard some sort of short or electrical event when connecting), then I used my new adapter and worked, recall slight short/shock noise, the old madsonline did not show anything.
    5) came home, new adapter plugged in, ring goes orange, goes to full charge, remove the adapter and there is a noise like a short, pluge it back in and the adapter ring has no light, machince does not detect adapter.
Q1) Could it be that the damange to the adapter port killed the madsonline and now killed my new apple adapter?
Q2) Since it appeared an adapter we used at the store also made that electrical noise, may replace the 3 day old apple adapter with a new one but if it just shorts another one I guess it is the DC-in adapter port. Anyone guess that this behavior means a replacement for the adapter port?
Sorry for the long story, looking for some feedback or confirmation if anyone has had this type of behavior.
    thanks
    Craig

    update to story, day 2
    1) went to store where bought the adapter, they tried it on a display model and it worked fine so assumed my port on my machine was bad
    2) get home, power down the machine, plug in the adapter and it works, and is working, charging. I still heard some type of pop when connecting it to the machine so something must not be totally correct.
    3) saw the DT&T service as an option, was going to ship it but will determine if there is a way for me to connect and unconnect the power without losing the ability to charge (i.e. always when powered down?)
    I have reset the PMU.
Any suggestions for attaining more reliable power connection or if anyone has this behavior?
    thanks

  • Can get past the "Power adapter plugging into wall" icon

I just got my brothers older 60gb Photo ipod and am trying to get it working on my computer. Did the whole restore thing, but now it is stuck at the Power adapter plugging into wall icon. I didn't have the original wall plug so I got a universal one at Radio Shack. Only the ipod still has the darn icon on it and I can't get past it. Any suggestions>

Lets do a trick. Connect the iPod and the cabel. The USB connector has 2 prongs that stick out a little more than the rest the goal. is to push it in a little so it charges but does not sync. Give It A Try.

I have had IPhones since their inception.  Last phone was the 5.  A few months ago, I upgraded to the 6 Plus.
    Here is my issue.
On my 5, my car radio (which has USB port) allowed me to plug in and listen to radio or music from my phone and the bonus was it charged the phone as well. All worked great.
Now with the 6 Plus, neither of things work.  The message on the radio (Kenwood) says I Pod error.  The message on my phone say's "this device is supported".
I have called on this before and was told you are aware and that the issue will be addressed in a future update.  There have been several updates on IOS 8 and the issue remains.

I have a Kenwood KDC-X695. When I purchased this stereo and had it installed, I had an ATT iPhone 4.
It worked with the stereo, but had a few issues. I had purchased a few audio books that I would listen to while driving. When I plugged it in it would immediately begin to play the book from the beginning or if I had been listening to music, it would start playing the song that was at the top of the song list.
The stereo came equipped with Firmware version 3.05. I upgraded to the iPhone 5 a year later. I had that phone for approximately 2 years. The song or book issue remained the same.
I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 and the Bluetooth function still works, however the USB port on the stereo that the phone plugs into to allow files on the phone to play through the stereo no longer works.
I contacted the service provider (Verizon) and after speaking to several different technical support technicians, they provided me the phone numbers for Kenwood and Apple because they were unable to help me.
I spoke with Kenwood technical support the following day and after a few fumbling miscues from the technical advisor, it was suggested that I upgrade the firmware, even though the Kenwood literature warns against this if the Bluetooth portion is working, because if there is a problem with the upgrade, it can render the Bluetooth useless and non-functional. The advisor did suggest the latest firmware on the second or third attempt, after I pointed out what I was able to glean from my initial search.
Later that day, I went back to the Kenwood site (from their homepage) and by using their selection tools, discovered that this particular model was only ever intended to be used with the iPhone 4S (the technical advisor was not aware of this, even though I mentioned this during my phone call earlier in the day). According to the Firmware selection tool, my iPhone 5 should not have worked with it.
I performed the Firmware upgrade, and it took 13 minutes. This was less than the 15 minutes that was forecast in the Kenwood literature. The Bluetooth still works but the USB cable connection still causes the unsupported device message that I received prior to the upgrade. I am incredibly annoyed and disappointed.
By upgrading to the iPhone 6, I have three choices; (1) only use the Bluetooth for phone calls without the ability to play other files from my iPhone 6 (2) forced obsolescence of my stereo, requires buying a new stereo (3) return my iPhone 6 and go back to my iPhone 5.
I do not believe that I should have to be a software/Firmware/hardware engineer, vetting every single device that I own; prior to upgrading a cell phone.
I am incredibly annoyed with Apple at the moment.
I have a separate Bluetooth headset that worked with both my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 that the iPhone 6 simply does not recognize. That is another story for another time.
Currently, I am incredibly underwhelmed with Apple.

  • Powerbook G4 won't charge battery or run with power adapter plugged in.

My Titanium Powerbook G4 will not charge the battery or run with the power adapter plugged in. When plugged in the power adapter doesn't change to amber showing its charging. Instead it has a green light that flashes off and on. I thought it was a defective power adapter but when its plugged in to another powerbook its seems to be working properly. I reset the PMU but that didn't help. I have been unable to find anything that would tell me what a flashing green means.
    Powerbook Titanium G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi, Marshall. With no power being supplied to the Mac for several months, not only has your main battery gone flat (and may never again be able to take a charge), but your internal backup battery has also gone flat. A Tibook with a dead backup battery generally will not start up at all, even with AC power connected.
Try this: remove the main battery and leave the AC power adapter connected overnight in an attempt to recharge the backup battery. If the Powerbook won't start in the morning under AC power, the backup battery is shot, has lost the ability to be charged, and must be replaced.
If the PB starts up in the morning on AC power, set the date and time correctly, shut the computer down, insert the main battery, and allow 48 hours with AC power connected in an attempt to charge the main battery. Then disconnect the AC adapter and try to start up under battery power. If that doesn't work, and no lights or only one flashing light appear when you press the power-indicator button on the battery, you'll have to replace the main battery.

  • Macbook won't sleep with power adapter plugged in

    Hi,
My Macbook has stopped going to sleep if the power adapter is plugged in.
I have the power adapter energy setting to sleep after 30 minutes. When I got the Macbook (about a month ago) the thing would sleep until I pressed the spacebar.
Now, the screen blanks but otherwise the Mac remains awake.
If I close the lid the Mac immediately goes to sleep.
I have reset the SMU but this didn't fix the problem. I also checked disk permissions and verified the disk in Disk Utility - all good.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks,
    John

my MacBook has also stopped going to sleep with the power adapter plugged in or when using battery power, unless I close the lid. Did you ever figure out the problem? Did you try calling Apple Care?
    thanks,

  • Power adapter plugs - all the same?

Is the removable plug for all white power adapters, regardless of wattage, the same? i.e. - Could I remove the extended adapter plug cable on my iBook power adapter and use it on my MacBook Pro power adapter?
According to Apple's store description of their world power adapter plug kit, that would seem to be the case. However, the new MacBook is conspicuously absent from their list of compatible devices. Surely this is just an oversight, but it makes me pause for a moment to question the inter-compatibility of these plugs.

It's just a cable - If it fits yes.

  • Using an existing USB Auto DC power adapter question please...

    Good Morning.
I have an exisiting USB Auto/DC power adapter for my GPS unit.
Can I used this for the Iphone please?
    Thank you.

You shouldn't have any problem. Car chargers use a trickle charge, not a full powered charge.

  • Is it better to use my Pro with the power adapter plugged in or out?

After charging my MBP's battery to 100%, which is better?
    - keep the power adapter plugged in to the laptop and resume using until you want to turn off the laptop
    OR
    - because the battery is already at 100%, unplug the adapter and resume using until you feel like you should charge the laptop again (maybe around 80%-90%)

If you are convenient to an AC outlet it's fine to use the adapter. However, keeping the AC adapter connected will not have an adverse affect on the battery. Once the battery has been fully charged it will stop charging. Recharge will begin once the battery's charge drops below 95%. LIthium-Ion/Polymer batteries do not exhibit memory effects. • 2009 Macbook Pro's fan spin faster with power adapter plugged in?

I was playing restaurant city on facebook with macbook pro with the power adapter plugged in
    ( a flash game)
after a while, the fan starts to spin faster and faster and made noise, and the body of the laptop starts getting hot too.
However, when I play the game without the power adapter, the laptop stays more quiet, and the i can't hear the fan spin anymore...(which sounds good)
but what i am worrying is that, is the hardware SUPPOSED to get hot and the fan is supposed to spin faster? the reason why it is not is because the computer recognize the power adapter is not plugged in, so it forced the fan to stay at a lower rpm to conserve power? (which do harm to my hardware?)

    Hi
that sounds normal to me - charging the battery produces heat, which must be removed via the fans.
They didn't run slower to conserve power, but because they weren't needed to remove the heat by=product of charging.
Flash is a real cpu burden.
