My usb ports dont remember whats in them!!

Hi, just got my computer back up and running and now the usb ports are forgetting what I have in them every time I restart or fresh boot my pc. When in windows I have to take the usb connector out then reattach it and it detects it and runs. I’m using the ports on my computer not a hub.
They worked before on my old motherboard but not on my new one, it is a ms-6339 p4 1.7.
Any help will be appreciated.

With your current setup, do you just have drive C: for Harddrives?
If yes, boot from startup disk and use CDROM support option.
Once it's booted, make sure you have access to your CDROM.
If you don't, you'd be better off finding someone there to help you.
At the A: Prompt type "format c:" without the quotation marks. Follow the directions.
Once formatted, put Windows ME CD in drive and change to that drive by typing in the drive letter at the DOS A: prompt.
Should be drive E: (Will say when you boot)
Type "setup" and Windows installation should begin.

I’d like to help you with the issue that you’re facing and I need to confirm you that all the steps that you’ve done is absolutely correct,
And as I can see that you’ve followed all the steps that we can do inside the operating system,
And I’d like to advise you that we can try to perform a recovery to get the machine back to the initial state and am sorry to ask you to take a backup from the data you need as the recovery will get the machine back as a new machine and all the Data on C: partition will be lost,
Kindly turn off the machine and connect the charger and the battery and then press on the One key recovery button which is the small one with the curve arrow,
And then the system will be booting to the recovery,

Usb ports dont work

i was playing around in the library and in the applications and have deleted deleted for good some files....so now usb port dont work! what do i do? do i reset the whole operating system? please help! thanks

T400 usb port replacement-what to buy

The pins on both usb ports are bent;I've attempted to straighten them and that doesn't fix the problem.Anyway I will replace them and am not sure exactly what part to order. I see on ebay the dual port assembly and I see some with a cable. Which do I need? And I know soldering is required.I have experience recapping a dell motherboard so I figure I can do this. Just not sure what to order.

It will be easy if you get any USB port hub with multiple port which can be used with the empty port available on right side of the laptop, in that you can get various speed and with extra port in it, check the below link for further assistance.

HT1529 Usb Ports dont work after Mountain Lion?

I recently updated my macbookpro to Mountain lion Os X and now whenever I connect a Flash drive to my usb port it doesnt work. I connected my iPad and iPodtouch and it still charges from the usb port, but it doesnt connect to iTunes. Anyone have an idea on what is happening here?
I have a Mid 2010 Macbookpro 13 inch, I upgraded Snow Leapord to Mountain Lion

I would reinstall:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Just update iTunes to 10.6.0.40. Now does not detect my iPhone. Tried restart, different USB port. Now what?

Just updated iTunes to 10.6.0.40. Now it does not detect my iPhone (prompt says reconnect, could not detect). Tried restarting and different USB port. What next asside from system restore with my Windows 7.Cannot Sync or get photos. Have 3Gs with os4.

I removed iTunes completely, then reinstalled. Still not identifying phone. When iPhone connected, prompt says "iPhone detected, could not be identified properly. Unplug and try again." Still not working.
Tried by installing previous version of iTunes (10.5.0.142) which did worked. Would not open iTunes because it had been previously installed with a newer version.
Sucessfully reinstalled ver 10.6.0.40 again. Then tried again by removing iTunes, iCloud and QuickTime. Reinstalled iTunes 10.6.0.40 and same problem, detected iPhone but could not identify properly. What next?

Equium A100 - USB ports broken - all 4 of them.

Hi,
I dropped my laptop about 40 cm onto a wooden floor the other day.
Now both side USB ports are totally broken, and the back 2 are pretty much broken too (If I wiggle the mouse usb cable in the back one I might get lucky for about 10 mins)
What can I do to fix this? and if it's not going to be easy to fix, are there any wireless mouses available which don't need a usb connection?

You cannot fix this because the USB ports are a part of the motherboard and if you would like to fix this, then the whole motherboard should be replaced and this is vey expensive.
But as far as I know the notebook supports an PC Card slot. You can use PCMCIA cards, PC Card16bit and Cardbus (32bit).
You could purchase an USB PC card which provides a USB port functionality.

I've been attaching a portable hard drive to the back of my IMac OS 10.6.4 since I've owned it (1 1/2 yrs) through a USB port. Tonight, it suddenly said that I'm drawing on too much power through the same port and the port has been disabled. I'm attached to the same hard drive.
How do I get the port back in running condition?

everything else works except them. Never got them wet and fairly clean....seems like something in the system because i can charge it and use all the other ports....
this is on a macbook pro i bough in summer 2010

I haven't tried this myself, but you could probably use Home Sharing to copy your playlist to your other computer. First set up home sharing on both computers (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4620), then on the computer with the playlist go to iTunes>Preferences>Sharing and choose share selected playlists, checking the playlist that you are trying to recover. Then on the computer without the playlist, create a new playlist with the same name, then drag and drop the songs from the other computer into the playlist you just created.

cyndie, for that to work you would need to hold down the power button for a minimum of 30 seconds while the AC is unplugged and the battery is out. In this case I doubt it will help.

If you do have password setup on your computer & you get a window asking for one for an app, leave the entry blank and click the OK button or whatever button it has.
