Hi saurabhsaini225,
Thank you for considering Sony Community!
Sorry to hear your issue. Let's isolate it by following these troubleshooting steps:
Test the Optical Drive in BIOS, and reset it - Turn off the computer -> press the power button and immediately, tap the F2 key repeatedly. Once in BIOS, go to Boot tab. Look for Boot Sequence and check if the Optical Drive is listed. If not then its already hardware issue. If DVD is listed, try to reset BIOS, go to Exit tab -> Get Default Values -> hit Enter ->Save the changes and Exit.
Power Cycle - Remove the battery and all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds OR, if the battery is not removable, remove all peripherals-> look for a battery off button on the bottom of the laptop -> push the button for 5 seconds -> you may use a safety pin if you see a pinhole.
Run Windows update and Vaio update.
You may also check for the latest drivers and software from Sony's support website based on your location or from where you purchased the unit.
Your Vaio SVF15318SNB is not a U.S. model and we have limited information and we do not have the drivers the support your computer.
For further assistance regarding your concern, please contact the Sony offices/Sony representative offices nearest to your place of residence in Asia Pacific region http://www.sony-asia.com/countryselector.html?hpid=countryselector:AsiaPacific. Hope these help.

  • My new HP laptop has stopped playing dvd's

Hello I want to first apologize as i'm sure this topic has been discussed before but i'm new at this and have not been successful in finding a solution to my problem.  I have previously been able to play dvd's with no problem but today I went to redbox to get a couple movies, came home to watch and my dvd drive just doesn't seem to be working.  I can't get it to automatically play.  I burned a few cd's today so, i'm not sure what the issue may be.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as one of the main reasons I purchased an HP system is from all the good things I heard about how they run.  I have only had this laptop for a couple months now and all of a sudden this.  Thank you in advance.

I believe I had been previously viewing dvd's with a program called power dvd that was somehow installed onto the laptop.  I apologize again for sounding "computer stupid" but it is what it is.  Thanks again and i'm open to any and all suggestions.

    Hi ther Troy
this sounds more like a software issue rather than hardware. i would recommend finding a new dvd software like Divx or try to update the software you have.

  • VAIO Shell has stopped working

When I try to open VAIO Care on my SVT15114CYS I get the message "VAIO shell has stopped working. . . Windows will close and notify you if a solutin is available.  I need to close this message. When I try to shut down my computer, I have also been getting the message "VCSystemTray.exe App Error.  The exception unknown software exception (0xe034352) occurred in the application at location 0x92c18b9c.  I need close this message before my computer will shut down.  Are both of these related?  If not how can I fix both? Appreciate any help. GlennS

    Hi GlennS,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
What is the current operating system of your laptop? When was the last time that you were able to open up the Vaio Care without that error message?
Please try the following steps below:
Take note that each step may resolve the issue. Try to replicate first before proceeding to the next step.
Boot the unit to Safe Mode then check if you can open Vaio Care without the error.
    Reset BIOS
Uninstall Vaio Care Software reboot the unit.
Reinstall VAIO Care™ (Desktop) Software from the website.
    Install all the available updates.
Perform a System Restore beck to an earlier date
I hope these steps help. Please keep me posted.
    Regards,
    Jen

  • IMac 9.1 has stopped playing DVDs, ejects them after about ten seconds without reading them

This morning my iMac has stopped playing DVDs altogether. It had been struggling to play them before, but now it won't even read them.
I'm running a 9.1, so the warranty is well past due. Not sure if there's anything I can do at this point to fix it, tried to manually eject the SuperDrive in Applications (as per a troubleshooting method) but that doesn't work either. Anyone know a way to fix this?

I would start first with some basic resets, do a SMC AND PRAM reset first, do each 2-3 times and then test. If you don't know how please click  Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets. If those don't work then I suspect your SuperDrive is either dirty or worn out. You can go to your local office supply store and get a CD/DVD cleaning kit. If that fails then take the machine in for service.

Bad RAM. Reseat it and see if that clears it up. If not then that need to be replace or the actual RAM sockets have gone bad.

My iMac (Intel) has stopped writing DVDs and CDs - what do I do first?

You can try one of the CD/DVD cleaning discs but I doubt it will work. Your superdrive has probably failed.
you can have Apple replace it, for around $120, or buy any brand external DVD drive that connects by USB port and it will work with your Mac. Most cost around $30.

  • The sound on my laptop has stopped working entirely, with and without headphones.  What should I do?

The sound on my computer has stopped working.  I have searched through countles google entries to try and figure out the problem but I can't find anything remotely useful.  I never spilled any liquid or anything on my computer.  I was just searching through youtube and when I clicked a video there was no sound.  Then I checked iTunes and tried to play some music, still no sound.  I played around with the preferences and volume control, still no sound.  If you have any advice please help.  Going to the apple store is so expensive and I don't have the time or money.

Did you try resetting PRAM and SMC?
Is there any red light visible in the headphone port?

  • HP DVDWBD TS-LB23L stopped detecting DVD/BLU-RAY

    Laptop info:
HP Pavillion dv8-1190eo (5 months old)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
In the middle of watching a DVD movie, the player stopped working. The movie "froze", didn't start on its own, so I removed the DVD from the tray to check for scratches and dirt on the DVD (and found none but even cleaned it anyway). This was the last time the DVD/Blu Ray player worked. It has been possible to play a single audio CD but other than this, the device does not even detect that any CD/DVD/BLU RAY is in the tray. I have tried with approximately 12 different DVD's, including DVD's that it has played flawlessly before, including brand new DVDs and brandnew writeable DVDs.
What happens on loading a disc in the tray is:
    1. it makes a sounds as if attempting to read the disc
    2. the small disc icon appears briefly next to the curser
but nothing more. When checking START --> COMPUTER it shows the Blu-ray Disc-ROM-drive but it doesn't show that any disc is in the tray. When double clicking the drive, the tray opens with an "insert disc" message.
With the aid of HP Phone Support over the phone, we have checked the registry to see if there were any conflicts (e.g. iTunes and similar). Everything was ok.
Then we restored to an earlier point where the devise was working but to no avail.
Then we downloaded the driver from HP's site and installed it, but to no avail. Upon a second attempt of installing the driver, we received an error message: "This software is for Windows Vista, Windows Vista WMC, Windows 7, Windows 7 WMC". According to HP Phone Support it is indeed the correct file for Windows 7 64 bit.
I have also tried running HP Support Assistant to trouble shoot, but this is not working as it asks that I load a writeable disc to perform the test. It does not detect the writeable disc I put into the tray, so I cannot perform this test.
According to device manager, the device is working properly.
HP Phone Support's suggestion is that I make a complete restore. This means taking full backup of all data (which I should do anyway), restore, and then install everything I have on my computer again. I am not happy to do this as it is quite a bit
of time consuming work. The other option is to let HP Support pick up the laptop and send it for repair and be without the computer for a minimum of 10 work days (which would easily be 3 weeks or more) which is not really an option for me.
I can see from these forums that I am not the only one experiencing problems with the DVDWBD TS-LB23L, although HP Phone Support refuses that this is a "known issue".
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your fast reply.
It is indeed HP warranty support that I have spoken with in length yesterday, and more briefly today. They give me the options between complete restore which they will guide me through over the phone (as stated above, this is a quite time consuming procedure with full backup, restore, then reinstall of all software, then backup copied back to laptop), or alternatively, to pick up the laptop and send it to repair which means I would be without computer for at least 2 weeks, but most likely 3 weeks or more - this is not an option to me as I don't have a spare computer, and there are obligations which I can't meet without a working computer at home.

  • Superdrive has stopped reading DVD's, replaced drive and have same issue

    Hello,
My G5 2.0 superdrive has been acting up for quite some time however it stopped mounting any DVD media from Movies to Apple OS Install DVD's. It reads CD's, both commercial and burnt. Every blue moon it will actually read a DVD but it is becoming few and far in between.
To make things even more interesting, I replaced the drive on my main machine with the identical perfectly working drive from my other G5 and I am still experiencing the same issue. The other machine reads just DVD's just fine with both drives.
I believe this is caused from software updates from what I've been reading around the web. I would like to hope that this is simply a preference that needs deleted or something that can be resolved quickly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am having the same problem which has been getting worse. I put in a DVD, the drive makes sounds as if it is getting ready to read it, but then just keeps making the same sounds over and over. The disk will speed up and then down. Every so often it will "catch" and read the DVD.
This is frustrating because I have the install disks for Leopard sitting on my desk but I can not install it. If I do get it to read the disk once, it asks me to restart and then will not read the disk the start the install, ejects the disks and boots back to 10.4 from my hard drive.
CD read and write just fine, no problem.
    Has anyone solved this problem?

  • Itunes has stopped detecting my ipod nano 7th generation

Hi I have recently bought an ipod nano (7th generation). Initially I connected it to my computer and everything was working fine but it has now stopped appearing when I connect it to iTunes. It connects - the ipod screen shows it is connected - but I cannot sync it or transfer music.
I have tried it on my wife's computer and it works as normal but all my music is on my laptop. I don't know if I need to download a mobile support or something but it's very frustrating. I have the latest version of iTunes on  both laptops/
I've followed the steps on the online help but the ipod isn't even appearing in my laptop's device manager. Gratedful for any help

It's working now, apple must have updated itunes that fixed the issue, not sure.

  • My brand new HP 15-F111DX laptop has stopped working

I bought this laptop last week.
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-amd-a8-series-8gb-memory-750gb-hard-drive-bl...
From the start it ran extremely slowly. I uninstalled a couple of programs (the Cyberlink stuff) and downloaded a few programs like Audacity, Malware Bytes and Avast. I've been told the anti-malware/anti-virus will only make it run slower, so I was going to uninstall last night, but when I started up my computer everything seems to have crashed. I can't connect to the internet (I have internet access at home on my desktop) and it doesn't seem to even recognize any internet connection hardware. It won't play sounds, again no hardware recognized. The HP Assistant keeps crashing, so I uninstalled/reinstalled, still no go. I tried running a system recovery but the Recovery Manager crashes. Do I have a lemon? Why has everything just crashed? I can't do anything with this computer. I'm not very computer literate, but I can't imagine I've done anything to completely wreck my computer in such a short amount of time. Any help is welcome.
    Thanks

  • My DVD drive has stopped reading DVD's. Help?

I have owned my Pavilion S5165-uk for merely a few months now, and now my DVD Drive is refusing to read any DVD's. CD's are fine, but when you're a student such as myself, there's no better way of spending time that you're meant to be spending doing private study other than playing The Sims 3. I have tried multiple DVD's yet my drive is refusing to pick up anything other than CD's. I have tried every solution the HP troubleshooter has to offer and am beginning to feel a little stumped. Any Ideas?

Hello George_Clark, Many times when this occurs, the DVD laser has become faulty. These multi-purpose drives have a CD and a DVD laser. This might explain why the CD still works.
If this is the case, the only option would be to replace the CD\DVD drive.
I have been successful in cleaning the laser in a few DVD drives and managed to get them working again, but that is quite involved and not easily done, and after the hard work, may not be successful.
DVD drives can be purchased at inexpensive cost now, so if I suspected the drive to be faulty, I would just purchase a new one.

  • Superdrive has stopped reading DVDs/ CDs!

Hello helpful people, i am having various problems with my emac with regard to reading DVDs etc. all of a sudden my drive no longer accepts any of my DVDs and struggles to read audio CDs. when i insert a DVD (that worked fine a week ago) i here a clicking noise and after about 5 seconds it just spits it back out. i initially thought it might be a scratch on the disk itself but then realised that it other DVDs were also being rejected. Audio cds occasionally work but this is often after alot of unpleasent noises and long wait. Does my superdrive need to be replaced or is there anything else i can do?
    please help.

The very first thing I would do is Repair Permissions.
This will many times resolve a minor glitch.
Other times it may require you to reset the Pram.
Have a look at Gullivers recommendations on System Maintence.

My Imac wont play store DVDs.  It will read files from a disc but not play movies.  It ejects the disc.  I recently upgraded to OSX Lion could that be an issue?

How to reinstall just OS X or erase/install OS X
I double Lion is the cause, likely a DVD region issue or a bad Lion install.
