My very unique issue

here is one for the powers that be. I have no one else to share this with so I thought I would share this here and hopefully some one will hear me. I knot it's long but please read this
I bought a new mac mini (mid 2010) replacing an early 2009 mac mini. i put the new one in the exact same place as the old which didn't have any problems and didn't change where any of my other equipment was placed. For a while I had no issues with the new mini but soon after (i can't remember when exactly) the computer would sporadically stop responding to my apple remote (both the aluminum and white remote) For a while it would only happen late at night usually around midnight and wouldn't start working until morning (wether the remote was paired or not) it would get progressively worse and it respond unless i paired the remote again even if it was already paired. (yes it would still pair even if was already paired and not responding. It eventually got so bad I called apple care multiple times after trying different solutions to try and find the problem. I eventually took the computer to the genius bar where they tested it for several days and ended up replacing the ir board and cable. I happily brought my repaired mini back home to play and only a few hours later i was still experiencing the same issue. I gave the weekend to see if this was just a one time issue but it continued getting worse. Took it back to the apple store this time they kept it for 2 weeks and no matter what operating system they used (local or network) they did not see any issue with it. They called me and we talking about it possibly being a software issue and seeing that I could handle that I opted for picking the computer up and trying it myself. Under their suggestion while i was experiencing the non responsive remote issue I switched to a different user and no response. next step was re-installing the operating system. Once i finally got everything updated and no 3rd party software installed i still had the same problem. So I did a clean install wiping the hard drive and installing again after to many problems getting it back up and working i still had the same problem and it was not software. I took the mini back to the apple store where they had already agreed to replacing it with a new computer if I still had the same problem. So yesterday I brought home a new mac mini set it up and I still experience the unresponsive to the remote issue. today i removed the mac mini to the kitchen where it is currently and for several hours no i have had no issues. AND WHY IS THAT
My findings
since i went through my laundry list of equipment that was in the vicinity of the computer while in my room it was deemed that they were not the culprits is this bizarre issue. The only other piece of equipment near my room is the PG&E smart meter mounted to the outside of my bedroom.
So in conclusion i guess i'm asking is there anyone in this universe that has experienced anything remotely similar to this issue and should i call up PG&E and have them remove their so called smart meter from my property.

this isn't the most consistent of issues but I can give you more details.
The mini is sitting on a shelf below my tv, the cabinet doesn't wrap around the mini there are simply 4 columns holding the shelf the tv is on above the mini, and a set top box is sitting next to the tv. I don't have curtains in my room just shades and they are open most of the time day or night and the light in the room doesn't seem to affect the mini. Also the mini is sitting to the right of the set top box where as before i had it to the left and it didn't make any difference. I have even tried using different electrical plugs in the room and still experience the problem. Last night I tried to use the remote and nothing after several minutes, hoping that the computer just needed to wake up and still nothing. I was able to pair the remote even though it was already paired and it worked for about 30 seconds. I did more a few steps between pairing it to where it stopped working but i put the remote directly in front of the port maybe a foot away and it still didn't respond for the rest of the night. This morning i tried it about 30 min ago and it worked and is still working even though nothing had changed in the room(the shades are closed at the moment but they were also closed last night and turning the lights on and off and moving around the room had no effect) the remote isn't any more than 8 feet away from the mini and not more than 45 degrees of center.
The only other remotes in the room are for the tv and set top box but they are not used at the same time.

  • Files transferred to external HD end up in trash - very strange issue

    Hi,
    I seem to be having a very strange issue, hopefully somebody can help or has seen this before.
    Hardware: MacBook Air, Western Digital Passport external HD, 250gb, formatted NTFS.
    Software: OSX 10.7 Lion, Paragon (allows me to write to an NTFS formatted HD)
    Issue Summary: I copy something to the external HD; I empty trash; the file I copied is deleted from the external HD. It doesn't happen every time.
    I do also seem to have a persistent folder in trash called "WD Sync Data" that won't go away unless I re-delete it as it's also in the root of the drive. Not sure if this is related somehow.
    Recently I copied 3 video files inside a folder to the HD, then disconnected the HD. When I reconnected it a while later and noticed that inside the "WD Sync Data" folder in trash were the 3 files I'd copied. I then looked inside the same folder on the root of the drive and the files were there, instead of inside the folder that I'd copied to the drive, which had vanished. If I hadn't noticed and had emptied the trash, those files would've been deleted.
    It's definitely happened more than once; last time I actually deleted the files from my computer after copying, then emptied trash, and they were gone from the external HD also.

    Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

    Quick update: I ran a verify then a repair in Disk Utility as there were a couple of errors. Hopefully this has solved the issue, however it'd still be interesting to know if anyone's come across this before and what caused it?

    Please help me solving this urgent issue.
    created customer exit variable on characterstics version and also
    other customer exit variable on Value type.
    I coded that in variable exit. Problem is when I include these in
    restrickted keyfigure My query does not return me any data.
    But if I remove from restrickted key firgure and put it as normal
    charaterstics I see the variable is getting populated.
    Also in RSRT the SQl generated when these are included in RKF is not
    correct.
    I debugged and know they are getting populated. As when included in RKF
    I can also see the values of customer exit variables from information
    tab.
    I also know that there is data in cube for those restrictions.
    I posted one OSS Notes regarding this urgent issue. But got no reply from SAP.

  • Can't delete folder (or files in it) - VERY strange issue

    ok i know there's been tons of questions about how to delete/force delete a troublesome file or folder. believe me, i searched, i've tried them all, and still, i couldn't solve it.
    here's my problem:
    a) 4 files, in a folder called "as".
    - 06Jacksons Club "Sunspot".mp3
    - 11_Novelette Conclusion" excerpt_Lisa edit.mp3
    - 16_Green Tea At Denny_s _Mary P. _Aka High Places Singer, Bassoonist, Zine-Maker, BOO - The "P" Is For Pearson_].mp3
    - 20_"Arrival In Benaras__ From Merchant-Ivory_s Film __The Guru__.mp3
    b) things i tried so far, and what happened:
    - using the terminal with sudo/rm. answers for a file: "No such file or directory".
    - using the terminal with rm/sudo to delete the whole folder:
    rm: /Volumes/Untitled/as/: is a directory ... is the answer i get, and it stays there, doesnt move
    c) if i move it into trash, when i try emptying it, everything goes except for that folder and it's files inside, neither does force deleting it via the terminal make it disappear. the "crushing" noise is audible, but nothing happens. no errors or anything, it just stays there.
    d) if i click on one of the files, they disappear (!!!). if i play around in finder and come back to that folder later, they're there again. the folder itself can be normally copied, renamed, moved around on the harddisk and everything. if i duplicate the folder, the dublicate is empty, unlike the original folder.
    e) NO music player or anything else ever used those files.
    f) they are 0 bytes each.
    g) another note: the files and the folder are on an ext. harddrive. the harddrive is not faulty.
    h) i even tried deleting them from a windows computer, which keeps saying the filenames are too long or invalid, and it wont work either.
    i) the folder or the files are not locked, i have full read/write permission, i tried reinstalling several times, i also tried it from safe mode.
    j) formatting the harddisk is NOT an option.
    i would be very helpful if anyone could help me with this very annoying issue. i just want to see my trashcan empty for once.

    Try booting to Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while booting, restart may take a long time but let it go), sometimes just doing that works. Restart normally.

  • Unique issue with PDF to WORD .doc conversion with Acrobat Pro - any ideas?

    I have been unable to solve the following issue when converting (save as...) PDF documents to Microsoft Word .doc using numerous methods. This could either be an issue that would be fixed in Acrobat Pro itself, or in MS Word - posting to the Adobe forums first.
    PREFACE: I am attempting to use the converted .doc file with translation applications/software. Google Translator Toolkit is what I use the most, but ALL other translators are having this very same issue with the .doc file. --The source PDFs are product information from drug manufacturers in various countries that I need to have translated to English. I do not have access to their source documents, as they do not provide their own source docs for obvious reasons.
    ALSO: I cannot use Google Translator toolkit to translate from PDFs directly - if you do that, it will attempt to translate a PDF and then export in an .html file, but it does not get the exact spacing of the sentences correctly, which leads to errors in translating - key things such as "can take with alcohol" and "do not take with alcohol". So that's out!
    I am not having any problems with the resultant .doc file in MS Word itself. It looks right, the spacing matches the original PDF source perfectly, prints correctly, etc... Reference here on a product info sheet from Austria in German:
    The problem: This is a screenshot from Google Translator Toolkit - the right side of the image - the spacing in the lettering from the .doc file I am uploading is not being read correctly, resulting in untranslated gibberish. (Note: this isn't a problem with the translation applications or software -- all are having this issue with .doc files converted from .pdf - this issue isn't present with any old .doc file that wasn't converted from a .pdf) -- It's definitely got something to do with some kind of embedded data in the .doc file that I cannot isolate!!)
    My settings in Adobe Pro (convert from PDF to .doc):
    Page layout: Flowing Text (this prevents the resultant .doc from having all of those text boxes, which also don't then work in translators)
    Include comments: True
    Include images: True
    Run OCR if needed: True
    Notes:
    -I have run OCR text recognition on the source PDF files in it's specific language.
    -I have edited the accessibilty of the PDF and have run the tag recognition and quick checks (to see if they solved the issue, which it did not - tagged or untagged, same problems!)
    -I have exported the .doc BACK to PDF using MS Word's function, which results in a great looking tagged PDF. THEN I re-saved this new PDF back as a .doc - same issue.
    -I have tried saving the PDF in all of the other formats that the translators accept. All have different issues. The only one that works consistently is saving to a .txt (plain)... The best is a .doc to .doc conversion, with all the original spacing. (I am not spending hours reformatting a .txt translation in word)...
    I can't seem to find where this spacing data is in the .doc file!!!! (Changing the fonts, sizes, margins -- doesnt fix this either). I have tried so many methods...
    Any thoughts on other things to try in Adobe Pro (or Word)?
    EDIT: Here's an additional tidbit of info that may be the key to this... There's some kind of coding that is in the .doc that Adobe Pro converted from the source PDF that doesnt display in Word, but that is being seen by the translation programs....... I have no idea what these are, but I want to remove them!

    I would suggest you look at the fonts that are being used. It may be a font issue that is not properly being read by the translation program.

    Both the browser(firefox or IE) and the midtier (BlazeDS ,java) are on the same machine.
    Actual result:
    Everything works fine.  All the properties in the Flex Object could be mapped to the Java Class
    Scenario 2:
    The browser(firefox or IE) and the midtier (BlazeDS ,java) are on the different machine.
    Actual result:
    Sometimes it works fine.
    And most of the time it does not work fine. Only the data in List is mapped correctly. All the values of simple data type such as int are mapped to 0 .
    Let me simplify the problem.
    The objects of Class B is always stored in the ArrayCollection  assocItems of Class A
    Flex side:
    public class A {
    public var id: int;
    public var  name: String;
    public var assocItems: ArrayCollection=new ArrayCollection();
    public class B {
    public var id: int;
    public var  assocItems : ArrayCollection=new ArrayCollection();
    The id , name in Flex Class A and assocItems in Class B could be  deserialize to correct value .  But the id of Class B is always mapped to 0. This is not correct.
    The log level of BlazeDS is configured to Debug. From the log I can see that  each value is passed from Flex side to Java server side correctly.

    1. It’s an issue with only default types
    2. It does not occur every time
    3. It does not occur when the browser(firefox or IE) and the midtier (BlazeDS ,java) are on the same machine
    Have you ever run into the similar problems? And what’s your solution?

    I checked, when I hard-code the constant in linq, the generated sql is like this:

    The only difference is a paramter. I can't figure out why there is such a impact on performance.

    There are NO carriers that legitimately offer the iPhone in Ukraine according to this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937
    I'm not talking about carriers that support 3G, I'm talking about AUTHORIZED iPhone carriers. There is NO SUPPORT available for iPhones on networks other than those who are authorized BY APPLE to carry the iPhone.
    The iPhone should work with any compatible GSM carrier. If your carrier is not on the list I linked to, you will have to work with them to resolve any problems. There is nothing else anyone can do for you.

  • Ampersands in component names (very minor issue)

    This issue is not creating any problems for me, just something I have observed.  When an ampersand (&) symbol is inserted into a component name, the ampersand is not actually displayed anywhere once the change is made, but what appears to be an underscore (_) appears instead.  A space also appears at the beginning of the component name within the Object Browser.  Obviously a very minor issue but thought I should report it.

    they are seeing the application in planning. they created a scenario dimension containing , budget, actual and forecast.. but in the planing application they can only see budget. the rest 2 are not visible.

    Before we started with the Patches, we had one Gig of free space on our hard drive, now we are down to less than 10 Megs!!!
    What happened is that the patches didn't work, we had to try them 7 times, and every time they created a 'temporary restore point' which we don't know where that point is.
    The server has crashed twice since, we were able to place it back online but we're afraid it will crash again.
    We have several customers on that server, we are very worried,

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 -very strange issue with the color tones and Preview-

    I deal with a very strange and not usual problem in Premiere Pro CS5.5 (also the version CS5). What I try to do is just a simple color correction. The problem occurs when I try to use Three Way Color Corrector but it happens with Fast Color Corrector also.
    When applying the Three-Way Color Correction and without changing anything else (just applying), can be seen in the preview of the soft how sudden changes in color tones. For example, the gray tone becomes a little more green, but also can be seen very easy a change in the other color tones too. In fact even RGB Parade show the same thing. This is very, very strange and unacceptable and saw that it happens when trying to use Colorista II too.
    I tried the same thing in Sony Vegas Pro 11 and I downloaded the trial version of Edius 6 to convince me if the same thing happens. Not! In Sony Vegas and Edius everything is working correctly, I have not experienced these problems in the preview's of this 2 others softs.
    This issue is very annoying because every possible color correction is based on what we see in the preview and if in this preview the tones are seen altered realize that can not make a decent color correction.     Yes Jim, you're right. No changes in the scopes when one just apply RGB Curves, Fast Color Corrector, RGB Color Corrector  or the Three way Color Corrector (last three thanks to the new update 6.03). I already wrote that Adobe team has been able to fix this bug for some of the tools/effects.
    But Brightness&Contrast? Change Color? Color Balance? Levels? MBLooks? Twixtor? Colorista II? Does it seem normally that all scopes or just one of them jump when you just apply one of these effects/tools? Not to say that in some situations even the tones change (especially in shadows&midtones).
    You say this is something "very minimal". I say it is not so. I don't find normally to make a very detalied CC with Three way Color Corrector and then when applying Colorista/MBLooks, for example, the scopes jump and inclusively some tones may be influenced. And I left clear examples in this topic where you can see that this is possible. I don't know if this is "very minimal" or not, but is really so impossible to edit in Premiere without this "very minimal" issue?!? How can it be possible in other softs (Edius, Media Composer, Vegas Pro) and in Premiere not?!?
    One more thing: many of us use intermediate codecs in the editing process. Do you find normally that a AVCHD video have the lumninance at approximately 110IRE, to export it directly to Cineform and then import it in Premiere, and the waveform shows the luminance at 100IRE?!? How is this possible?!? So the AVCHD video have a 110IRE luminance, you convert this video to Cineform without changing anything, and then this Cineform video have the luminance at 100IRE?!? And anyone can verify this example.
    So, how can one trust in this soft?!?

    I have a very unique problem, i have designed a small aplication involving MS acces and java. I am formatting the date into mm/dd/yyyy format using SimpleDateFormat.The application is running of 4-5 computers very succesfully but on a single computer the same application returning date in dd/mm/yyyy.
    What could b the possible cause..???
    plz help me out its really bugging me....

    Like I said, show the code where you are doing "formatting". If you are not doing it in the print statement, or when you define a String for the print statement, then it has absolutely no effect. A Date does not have a format, only its String representation does, and you have to format that representation every time you use it.
    If you are simply doing System.out.println(date), then it will print the date using the locale settings to format it.

    Since Nov 11 all Iphone and Ipad of our company have very big issues with email synchronization. We all synchronized with Exchange server.
    In the past nobaody had issue.
    Some of our users have IOS 6 and others IOS 5
    Messages arrived empty and it is impossible to download them.
    Nobody is able to answer ????
    I have the same issue with my personnal Ipad synchronized with exchange also.

    This resolution have to attend at the server not with the ios device. My employer's mail administrator reject me to correct it from the server. As his concern is, if ither ios devices works why don't mine? So I am helpless than changing my iphone. It works fine for early versions of ios and with androids. And also one of my friends iphone4 with ios 7 (similar as mine) works too. So I guess it's something wrong with my iPhones settings. But basic question I cannot understand is it works in my phone before this ios7 upgrading. And currently working with my yahoo account too. Favourable reply expected.
