My video is soo broken

hi i was wondering, i have a 30gb ipod video that kinda got smashed up during a concert and it opened up. the screen is broken and there is a pretty big dent on the top left side where the headphone jack is. nothing seems to be working on the ipod because of the condidtion it is in. well i checked the website and it seems that my ipod is still under warranty. is it possible that apple will take it back?

i doubt that apple will replace your ipod because of the state its in. the best you can possibly do is go to your nearest apple store and explain to them what happened i dont think they will agree with what happened with how it got smashed at the concert though....... try that when get back post what they had said.

The big iChat problems. Audio/Video (now completely broken in 10.7.3), the "not-authorized" problem

So, I am running iChat on OS X Lion 10.7.3 on an early-2011 MBP 13'' . These problems have been here for a while, though (I got my comp with 10.7.0). I have AIM/GMail/Yahoo connected..
One problem is the issue of non-authorized people. There is a list of "not authorized" people that I have to scroll past in my "offline" section of iChat buddies before I actually get to the real offline contacts. Big note here: All these people have the address (something)@aol.com. These contacts have come up as a result of my gmail connection. You see, a few months ago Gmail and AIM did this chat unification process where @aol.com contacts can be just added into Gmail for chatting. These @aol.com copies come up asking for an invite when the REAL AIM address person talks to me. The invites leave once I press decline, but then they stay on my list as not authorized. If I delete these "not-authorized" copies, the invites will come up again and the cycle will repeat. It is a nuisance considering how much of these false contacts are on my list.
Second problem is video/audio chat in general. This issue really applies on AIM/Yahoo—there is nothing for Gmail because people usually use the web interface which simply doesn't work with iChat video/audio. If the people used Google talk, the issue written below would probably come up.
See, what happens is that…(now in 10.7.3), video/audio chat is simply broken, simple as that. My contacts always tell me that an error has occurred when trying to accept my video chat invite. It simply doesn't work. They are using AIM desktop in most cases. When it DID used to work (to a very limited extent, I'll say; it was hit or miss earlier pre 10.7.3, now it's just miss), it was just video but NO audio. They could see/hear me, I could only see them. When I did audio chats, they hear me, I..don't hear them (so audio chats were pointless). The only case where this problem doesn't happen is where it's Mac to Mac, iChat to iChat. VERY limited in use of audio/video chat, if you ask me.

If AIM contacts have been added to your Google Buddy List then I would login to Google and remove them from there (the iGoogle or GoogleMail web pages will show the Chat option)
Whilst they are still in the List then the Authorization request will probably be resent (In this case it is probably being generated by the method Google are using to add the AIM names as iChat only sends it once).
Google/Jabber Video chats is only iChat to iChat and so is Yahoo with iChat 6.
The Yahoo App streams Video which People can be allowed to see and Audio is added in as an Audio Chat.
The connection Process is not the same and iChat/AIM
Jabber and Google use Jingle to Connect (in fact Google's version is not that compatible with other Jabber apps).
This means iChat to the Standalone PC app or any Web Browser using the Google Video Plug-in (PC or Mac) or to any Jabber app that is using a Google ID (or a Jabber ID) will not work.
On the iChat to AIM on a PC.
This has always been a bit of a hit and miss affair.
Some people have no trouble but other spend ages trying to set things up and never find the solution.
This is the Original Users Tip (up to about AIM5.9)
A "replacement" for that tip that has not made it across yet.
I have yet to try Video to the Web Login version that is now on offer.
However I would limit the Bandwidth in iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section to 500kbps (possibly try 200kbps for 1-1 chats) as you will not know the interent speed available to the Buddy if they are using the web login.
Comparisons
When you compare iChat actual functions to what you would like it to do it can appear to be limited.
On the basis that you would want your IM app to be able to have Buddies from other services listed in a Buddy list (combined) or Lists which apps do you know of can do that and Video to some of them ?
Adium and ProteusX can both have Buddies from the major Services ina Buddy List but don't do Audio or Video.
Yahoo and MSN both allow the other's Buddies in the list but I am not sure about Video or Audio chats
They cannot connect to Jabber or AIM buddies even for text chats.
Jabber does depend on the server you use and whether that does Transports for you to have text chats with other services.

Mercury IM is a JAVA version of MSN and still has not got to Audio and Video
Similar for aMSN
Gizmo5 and YakforFree both died...
Skype is Cross Platform but is only 1-1 in Video chat. (cost extra for 3 and 4 way chats)
Yahoo had dropped support for their Mac version now iChat has the Yahoo option (you can still download it - IT being the beta it has been for years).

IPad video app (iTune) broken - Not showing downloaded videos

Recently, I began to have problems with videos that I purchased on iTunes, downloaded them, could watch them and then delete them so I could download more purchased videos, and then when I would go to download them again later (to watch them again), it would show in iTuned that they were already downloaded. In iTunes...The "WATCH" button appears where the "Download" button usually appears...and when you click on it, the iTunes Video App launches, but the video isn't there to watch.
Anyone else having this same problem? ...and how do I fix this APPLE? I have already done a factory restart and loaded my apps, etc...back on to my iPad from iCloud, but the problem is still there.

more that Two years ago I bought the laptop and one day the laptop couldnt start any more and only blinked next to caps lock in three times iteration. Was suspected Memory card but then once taken to a lab was determined that the Video card is defect and it is non repariable issue. My question is how could it be that after 2 years and just few months the Laptop brakes and cannot be repaired and what this imply on the relaibility of the laptop products of HP? please your advise what can be done, since I am very disappointed being a business customer that use to buy many HP products.

I got my ipod touch last week and it also has the youtube problem since friday, BUT now that seems irrelevent because when I try to view a video (one of mine) thats not on youtube, this is the image I am now getting

sorry, it was taken with the imac camera, but this is a view of a nelly furtado video that has gone all pete tong. All the videos look like poor special effects from the 60's. There is ghosting and some weird banding.
Anyone had this problem? I am now thinking it was not a good idea to buy it so soon.

Sorry for the reply, I rebooted and video is all fine now. I think it is still going back. These things should not happen.

Video playback is broken in trunk?

As of 2/21 my code started getting this error so I checked the example player and it too was generating the same error.
I was alarmed because usually the code is pretty stable and this error is fatal.
I noticed it excludes quite a few more classes so I tried comenting the exclude statments out to no avail

I do have the class but it must have been something like that because it is working after the last update, end of Tuesday.

2.0.1 video playback BROKEN!!!

after upgraded to 2.0.1, video playback is broken! there is no video but audio is coming through. This apply to online video playback as well like youtube. anyone facing the same problem? How can i restore to 2.0?

Just completed my update to 2.01 and my movies and youtube play fine. Not sure how to go back to 2.0. When you go into iTunes there is a restore button that you might try. Don't know if you can select to reinstall 2.01.

Servlet for writing Video bytes to response

I have developed an J2EE application that allows people to watch video and can see the application using mobile devices such as the iPhone.
Videos for the iPhone are currently encoded in MP4 format and have been tested to work. When someone hits a video URL we have a Video servlet thats writes the bytes to the response. The code is given below:

}This implementation is working fine for desktop browsers but when running it on a mobile device I hit a BrokenPipe SocketException.
What I have noticed is that with mobile devices the servlet gets hit twice - seemingly once as the users selects the link and then the browser decides that it doesn't know what to do with that MIME type then it initialises its own internal media player then the servlet gets hit again to try and play the video.
The broken pipe error seems to occur after the browser has decided it doesn't now how to handle the MIME type and thus any subsequent writes to the response/connection file.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Can anyone point out where I am going wrong?

Besides the error message you log does it actually work in the mobile device or not?
If it's working, then it works. The broken pipe simply means that the client is killing the socket unexpectedly. So...
As an aside wrap a buffered stream around your file in. Reading a file byte by byte is needless and painful and slow.

Video Input/Capture

I just bought a G4 ti4200-VTD64 with video capture and I can't get the capture to work. I have reinstalled the capture driver twice and I have tried both composite and s-video. I can get the video out to work, so I don't think it is a hardware issue, but I am beginning to wonder. I would like any suggestions. Thanks.

Are you using the latest WDM drivers? I found 1.12 and up worked, but when I backtracked to 1.08 for bypassing Macrovision it would show up under Multimedia->Devices, but not in any app. I had to uninstall while in Safe Mode and reinstalled the 1.16 drivers.
Things that seem to affect it for me under Win98SE:
1) TV-out should be disabled (video properties, make sure monitor 2 isn't active or part of the desktop, it should be grayed out).
2) Under Advanced properties, Overlay Controls, if the "Check here if you are having problems with your TV Tuner" is checked then the video-in will be screwy and slow, at least on my 4400.
3) This might seem silly but make sure your SVHS or composite cable is plugged in *and* working! I had a bad one that made me think video-in was broken, till I tried another cable. My VCR's SVHS cable keeps coming loose from the switchbox whenever I swap out the output cable from the TV to the PC, and that made me think it was malfunctioning as well.
4) I think you already covered this, but selecting the correct input option (SVHS or Composite) is usually necessary since it wants to default to "tuner".
Aside from that, I had to reinstall my OS anyway because it was clogged up with old junk and drivers for my old GeForce2. If you're able to do it, a wipe and reinstallation may help.
WinProducer 2 is a BSOD piece of crap for recording, at least in MPEG-2 format, but WinDVR 2.0 is actually pretty good if you can find a copy. I'm in the process of copying over old VHS tapes. VirtualDub is great for capturing AVI, but you'll need to run the deinterlace filter after recording if you record over 320x240, then you can save to a compressed format like DivX. Get the HuffyUV lossless codec to record the raw AVI with.
One last hint: The 1.12 drivers and up have Macrovision built in so if you copy commercial tapes or DVDs you'll get a white bar across the image. It can be fixed this way:
Get a copy of the 1.08 drivers (you can web search for them). Extract 1.08 drivers to a new folder, and replace Nvcap.sys and Nvcap.inf *only* in the Windows directories(do file find on C:/windows to locate them) with the 1.08 versions. Reboot. Problem solved. I just found this tonight.
I hope some of this helps, I've had to tear my hair out as well over the past month upon getting this card!

Why I am experiencing video freezing using FaceTime.

Using an iMac intel OS 10.6.8 and connecting to MacBook Pro with FaceTime, I experience video freezes and broken audio. The other party (MacBook) does not seem to have the same issue leading me to believe it is something to do with the iMac. I tried restarting prior to the FaceTime session but this did not help the problem. I am connected via wire to a cable modem. I haven't found any references to this issue in the help menu nor any forums at this point. Any thoughts?

How to merge video clips?

I have a video that is broken into two files (the memory card had a 4gb file limit so it has two files under that size). I imported the two of them into FCPX no problem but I want to treat the both of them as one clip in the event browser. Is there a way to do this?

I would avoid compounds as much as possible.
And esp.just for organizing, the 'data base tool' FCPX offers with its tags, keywords, favorites, meta-info, search filters, smart collections etc etc etc MUCH more 'powerful' tools than just bins of single solid clips.
…Not meant as a personal offence, but I really recommend to get familiar with the NEW way, how FCPX handles 'sources'… just for organizing, compounds is really the wrong turn.... my 5¢.-
No I can't mark from one clip into another because they have different time stamps. I guess the camera marks the clips based on the start time. And there are clips in between these two clips.

Full Screen Videos = Frozen

I just got my computer back from a repair (the third one in a month) and decided to watch a video on it, fullscreen of course. About halfway through the video (20 or so minutes) the computer froze, playing the last thing from the video like a broken record. My computer completely froze..I couldn't exit the video or anything...I waited for a couple of minutes to see if it would unfreeze but it didn't so I turned it off using the power button. When I turned it back on it allowed me to report this issue to Apple, so I did. I tried to play the video again to see if it was just a one time thing, and almost immediately, it did the same thing. So, I turned the computer off again and then on and played a short video on you tube full screen to see if it had just been the video I had been watching but it did it again right away. Anyone have any clue as to why this happened?

What version of Flash player are you running? (I presume you're referring to a Flash-based video). If you're running 10.1, update to 10.2 and see if the problem is rectified. If your Mac is up to date (referring to Software Update here) then it may be a hardware issue but that's making a wild guess.

The selected original image (video) is either offline or not found.

I tried exporting a video from aperture to desktop. It apparently lost the file. I see the thumbnail with a yellow triangle. I read a lot of post here and did all three repair stages when opening aperture. Still no file and a thumbnail. I tried locating the file in finder and cannot locate it. I looked in aperture library in the masters and still cannot locate the origianl file to reconnect the video file.
Any help will be much apperciated

what happens, when you select the video with the broken reference in the Browser and use the command to "File > Locate referenced file"?
In the "Referenced Files in Selection" window you should be able to see the path to the original file, where it should have been. Have you searched this folder?
Or is the problem, that Aperture does not allow to use the "File > Locate referenced file" and gives the error message "The selection does not have any referenced files".
In that case the original movie should be in your Aperture library, and you shoud look inside the folder with the date you imported your movie - the Aperture library "Masters" folder is organized according to "Import session". To see the "Import session" of a version, edit a metadata preset in the libaray inspector info panel to include the "Aperture > Import session" tag when you are viewing a version.
