My video playback is failing only on twitch
I am able to watch videos on every commonplace video site such as youtube, vimeo, and independent sites. Except for twitch.tv in which the player does not load. I have the most recent addition of flash and twitch.tv works perfectly on other browsers such as chrome or even IE.
If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Video playback post iPhone 2.0 update
Hey world,
crazy I'm not seeing this problem posted. Ideas anyone? Since updating my iPhone with the 2.0 update, my video playback is audio only with a black screen for video. What's curiouser is that podcasts play back just fine. The problem seems to be with video that I've personally encoded for the phone. All of this video was fine prior to the update, which leads me to think that encoding parameters have changed with the update. Does anyone know anything about this, and if so, what those new parameters might be?
ThanksAll of my stuff and itms stuff still works on my 3g iPhone, encoded in H.264.
I have used visualhub, handbrake and the elgato turbo H.264.
I have no idea why you and some others are having issues. -
Video playback = periodic restarts
Recently, my video iPod has started to restart/reboot itself in the middle of video playback.
This only happens occasionally, not all the time. Maybe every 30 minutes or so.
I don't have any videos from the iTunes Store -- these have all been encoded by me using Handbrake -- so it's nothing to do with authorization.
I've already wiped it and reloaded everything again, and yet this still happens.
Sounds to me like it's a hardware bug or something, but I wonder if there are any other solutions out there. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!From the terms and conditions of this forum:

When I use my IPhone 4S to view the Shaw Go Movie Central App when I am at home I only use WiFi which is automatic, I start watching a show and sometimes I will get a message like "you can not use your cellular for video playback" or something close to that. Then I received an email from Telus saying I had used my 3G instead of Wi-Fi using 75% of my data. How can this happen when I'm on Wi-Fi at home? If it switched to 3G for some reason I should have been disconnected and not just transferred to 3G network using up my data. What is the fix for this??
It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
To answer your questions,
1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.
Let me know if you need any more tips for iPhoning across the pond. -
Video playback on external monitor only producing still frame
I am trying to use a HD TV as a playback device as managed to get it to work, however it has now stopped working and only produces a still frame. When I hit play it will play fine in the timeline but display only a still frame on the second monitor. I have made sure that the settings under video playback are set to full screen and that mirroring is turned off.
Even when I play back on Main the image on the main monitor only displays a still frame until the second monitor is unplugged.
Am I missing something?How is the TV connected?
If via firewire and an analog/DV converter, are you feeding the HDTV something other than a DV signal? If so, it won't work.

Video playback in ALL applications stutters while using battery only.
Video playback in ALL applications stutters while using battery only. All OK when running from power adaptor. New battery did not fix. Recently updated iTunes to 11.0.5 and Flash player 11.8.800.94 .
Thank you again andyBall_uk.
I have successfully run Apple Hardware Test and it returned the error code...
4SNS/1/40000001:VPOR
A Google search reveals that this is a sensor error. The "V" of VPOR indicates a voltage sensor and the "P" indicates the sensor is on the Power bus. However don't yet know what the "OR" refers to.
I have had a non operative optical disk drive for a year or more but the fault with the video only developed in the last week or two. Could the "O" in VPOR refer to the Optical drive?
By the way, I got the impression from the instructions on running the Apple Hardware Test that I had to use the internal dvd drive to run the APT program from the install disk. But this turned out to be not the case. Just put install disk ito an external drive plugged into the usb ports and use system preferences to set this drive as the start up disk. -
Swf won't load on web but ok locally (believe only video playback issue)
Hi all,
I am very new to flash....literally first day into it.
I converted a mov into flv and imported the flv with playback component. When I publish, I am able to see both (via the swf and the html) from my browser. Once I uploaded the swf and html onto my webserver (both files are stored in the same folder just like how I had it locally), the swf won't display the video.
Now, I have a button (when clicked, it skips the playback and go directly to the site) and the button works fine. So, I think it is only limited to the video playback.
Any help appreciated.Hi Ned,
I was just fiddling with it and it seems to be working now. I think your advice of putting the flv there helped?!?! Thanks a billion!
http://www.astoryconcept.com/index1.html
The only minor issue that I need to fix and not sure how yet:
-it stops during the initial playback (I guess my flv is a little large 4mb and I might have to optimize it to a smaller file)
-it didn't center itself when I drag the browser larger/smaller
Now that it works, I want to see if I could optimize it. Wandering if there is a "BETTER/EASIER" way to take me to a url at the end of the video playback.
What I did in here:
I created a cuepoint at 23 second (that's the end of the video) and it will take me to a url (here: adobe.com). Below is the actionscript I had in there (using code snipper) [One is for "Skip Intro" that will bring me to cnn.com; and the other one is the cuepoint that will take me to adobe.com):
================================================================
/* Click to Go to Web Page
Clicking on the specified symbol instance loads the URL in a new browser window.
Instructions:
1. Replace http://www.adobe.com with the desired URL address.
Keep the quotation marks ("").
skip_intro_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage);
function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage(event:MouseEvent):void
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.cnn.com"), "_blank");
/* On Cue Point Event Handler
Executes the fl_CuePointHandler function defined below each time a cue point is passed in the specified video instance.
Instructions:
1. Add your custom code on a new line after the line that says "// Start your custom code" below.
The code will execute when cue points are reached in a video that is playing.
import fl.video.MetadataEvent;
video.addEventListener(MetadataEvent.CUE_POINT, fl_CuePointHandler);
function fl_CuePointHandler(event:MetadataEvent):void
// Start your custom code
// This snippet code displays the cue point's name in the Output panel
// trace(event.info.name);
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com/");
navigateToURL(url);
// End your custom code -
Video playback on external monitor working. Only works when Print to Video
I'm having a problem. I'm using FCP 5. When editing, my video playback is not showing up on my external monitor (Sharp MiniDV camcorder). It does however show up on the external monitor when I "Print to Video." This is the first time using FCP 5. I never had this problem with previous versions of FCP. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Thanks
#8 External Monitor Viewing.
Shane's Stock Answer #8:
A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

Am I the only person who has problem with video playback ?
I'm having problems with the latest nvidia driver and it seems that nobody wrote about it on the forums.. After installing the latest nvidia driver (169.07-1), the video playback with xv selected will be played in purple and blue colours.. Generally red will not be shown.. So human faces are colored with a combination of purple and blue.. Everything is normal on the other hand.. Sound works perfectly, the movie can be watched smoothly even on fullscreen.. With x11, all players can show the colors but...
1) The movie quality in Totem is very bad then...like the image is gathered together by 3x3 pixels..
2) mplayer shows everything fine but it can't get fullscreen..
I created a nautilus script for a workaround that let's me watch the movies with fullscreen using the -fs -zoom options..
But this problem is really annoying..1.0rc2, with some things disabled that are enabled in the Arch package (lirc, samba, and that live-media thing).
$ pacman -Qs mplayer

I should probably also mention that I'm rolling my own kernel, and as such I'm not using the package from testing. Building it manually with the PKGBUILD from ABS though so it shouldn't be any difference though.

Video playback very slow/failing with both iGPU and dGPU enabled simultaneously
Until a couple of months ago, my PC was running with an i5 760 and my current Radeon HD 7850 on Premiere Elements 11 just fine - playback was smooth and I could edit my videos just fine.
However, recently I installed a new CPU and motherboard - an i7 4770K. The key feature here is that it has an integrated GPU (hence referred to as "iGPU") which can run in tandem with my current dGPU (discrete GPU, the HD 7850) by having encoding jobs such as rendering videos and transcoding sent to the iGPU in a feature called Quick Sync. In order to utilise this, I had to bind a virtual monitor to my motherboard's VGA port (as according to this post made by vaesauce on the OBS forums), and for all related applications it worked perfectly (HandBrake transcodes really quickly, and I can stream with OBS with negligible performance overhead). Except one - Premiere Elements 11.
When I booted up Premiere Elements 11 to edit a short clip yesterday, I was greeted with a screen that informed me I had incompatible drivers. I went and checked my video drivers for both of my GPUs - both up to date - reinstalled them and rebooted. Tried once again, same issue. Going on to try and edit just resulted in audio playback, and a complete failure of video playback. I found the solution was to disable my iGPU in device manager, then it works fine.
Now, here is my question - how can I have both the dGPU and iGPU enabled and still be able to edit videos with Premiere Elements 11? While it does work in this fashion, the constant going into device manager before and after editing a video is very annoying (also, I'm sure PrEl 11 could itself benefit from the QuickSync!)Don't disable the Intel GPU. Causes more problems then it fixes. Here's your solution believe it or not. Go to download.com and find the K-Lite Codec Pack_Full and install. It seems that the new updates have been messing peoples system's ability to read Codecs. This fixed my problem and I've been searching all day every day for over a week now.

Several attempts to upgrade to iTunes 11 have failed. After an upgrade to 11 the error message reads: "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly." At this point--after the upgrade to iTunes 11--my PC running Windows XP loses audio playback for all functions--in iTunes, in the browser and the volume icon disappears from the System Tray. Only by removing iTunes 11, and then using System Restore to turn back the OS settings can I return the PC to normal functioning.
I did that. I reinstalled iTunes 10.5. Everything seemed fine, but when I try to plug in and copy a CD to my iPhone 4S an error message reads roughly: 'iPhone 4S requires iTunes 10.5 or higher to work.'
What might be the problem with my audio configuration?
Why doesn't my iPhone 4S work with iTunes 10.5? It used to work with iTunes 10.5.
Please advise.

Issue with video playback in Flash Player
I am currently doing some voluntary work for my mom for the local branch of the Alzheimer Foundation. Now I have encoded a video to mpeg4/h.264 and F4V using the Adobe Media Encoder only I am having not much luck to get it successfully played. Now is my question what could I be doing wrong? I already tried to use ActionScript 2 and 3 and disabled GZIP compression on the server and even tried different files like H.264 and F4V.
The strange thing is that the video always work just fine when being tested in Flash CS4 10.2 but when I tried it in the browser it fails. The Test Movie feature of Flash is using the following player version MAC 10,0,12,36. I am using 10,0,32,14 MAC in my Safari browser and their the movie plays fine once the file is fully downloaded (how can I change this?) only when let friends try it out which have version 10,0,32,18 or the same version it doesn't work for them. Also when I am using an older version doesn't seem to work. I thought that H.264 support was added in some version of Flash Player 9. One of the issues which I was getting that the video playback worked lovely in Test Movie with the below listed alzheimer.mp4 url but when testing after the SWF and HTML were uploaded to the webserver it failed to work and I was receiving a FileStructureInvalid error. Now I would expect that the video file would fail in Test Movie too when the video file structure is invalid.
I have tried the following video files both encoded with Adobe Media Encoder:
http://www.letslearn.it/dropbox/alzheimer.mp4
http://www.letslearn.it/dropbox/alzheimer08.f4v
The current player can be found at:
http://www.letslearn.it/dropbox/alzheimer.html
I have attached my As3 version of the Flash file which is normal easy video stuff.
Anyone happen to know what could be the issue here? I am getting desperate!Yes, I have just used the normal Video-object together with the normal trick to load Flash Video files with it. Nothing special only with a full URL for the play()-method. I have attached the source code for your convenience. The original files are edited in Premiere Pro CS4 and are based on one original ripped DVD vob file and a newly created Quicktime-based slideshow animation which has then be edited into one using Premiere.
After that I have selected the sequence of the Premiere project which I have exported using File > Export which is using Adobe Media Encoder. For the encoding I haved used the Export Settings: "Format FLV | F4V", Codec On2 VP6 and then altered the video size and bitrate so that the file size gets smaller this is for the Alzheimer08.f4v file. The other file used the H.265 Web Medium profile with also the video size and bitrate modified after it got encoded and uploaded to my webserver.
The original files used by the Premiere Pro project are:
VTS_01_1.dv
Type: DV Stream
File Size: 2.6 GB
Image Size: 720x576
Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
Compressor: DV - PAL
Quality: Normal (3.00)
SLIDESHOW 2.mov
Type: QuickTime Movie
File Size: 3.2 GB
Image Size: 720 x 576
Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
Compressor: DV - PAL
Quality: Most (5.000)
Above information is obtained in Premiere Pro by selected Properties-option of the submenu when selecting the file.
Hopefully you can use this information but I could upload the original Premiere Pro project over the next few days. If you would be interested in it.

Video playback hesitates in Audition 3.0
Hi All,
I mostly use Audition for recording music and for that I have had almost zero problems. But lately I've been doing occasional sound design work with an animator and every time I insert video in a video track the video playback will hesitate for a second or two before it plays long with the audio (which doesn't hesitate).
At first I ignored this because my computer was an older single-core processor machine with not very much RAM. But these days I have an Intel i7 920 processor, 6 GB of RAM, and a respectable video card and the video playback still hesitates in exactly the same manner as with the old machine. It's much worse with MOV files and less with lo-res AVIs. I've tried to make the video window very small and enabling "Low Quality" during playback but the hesitation occurs which makes tight audio sync with the picture very challenging.
Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance for taking a look.Then maybe DV is the ONLY format that works, I never tried that. But I know compressed avi, wma and all other formats with a sane filesize do NOT work reliably (AA1.5 handles them all perfectly). Besides, no producer will ever give you DV to work on.
I fail to grasp how can a reputable company publish software that's simply a mess in certain areas like video playback or timecode sync. If they cannot or do not wish to get these functions right, then they should omit them, not sell software in which some advertised functions SIMPLY DO NOT WORK. I find this appalling. -

TOPIC: iTunes 9 – Backup doesn't function, Video playback is now slow, Requires a reboot to find the super drive when changing CDs or DVDs.
iTunes 9 has been difficult to say the least. We have a very large Video and TV library, backups are critical. When starting a backup to disc, we put in the blank DVD and the software reports that it will take XX (39 in this case) discs. After the first DVD ejects and the second blank is inserted, iTunes hangs.
Second: Watching programs on hulu.com the video drops frames and a very jerky playback experience sometimes including audio. iTunes 9 now works the same way, gone are the smooth video and audio. An authorized computer in our house can no longer play back any movies or TV that are located on the MacMini.
Third and most disturbing: Since the iTunes 9 upgrade, when listening to a CD on the Apple and it completes, if you want to listen to another one – it requires a Restart of the computer. It no longer knows that there is a super drive attached to the computer. After the restart, it works just fine for one use, CD or DVD and then you must restart to listen or watch another one. Using the super drive for data or programs works correctly and no problems experienced.
I want to be clear - none of these problems were happening before the forced upgrade to iTunes 9. After reading several posts, I don't want to sync my iPod Classic (80GB) for fear of what it will do to it.
The above is happening on a MacMini, G4 PPC, 1GB RAM, 80GB internal, 2 Terabyte external, OS-X 10.4 fully patched for operating system and applications.
We need to know when the 9.1 bug fix will be released? As long as it took to convert our library to 9.0, we don't want to try and back convert to version 8.x. In our case that would take feeding 221 backup DVDs and repurchase of several 9.0 only, episodes.
WE need the bug fix and fast!I am running iTunes9 on WinXP, and I also cannot get it to back up. It either hangs on the "initializing" phase, or it thinks that my blank disks aren't blank and keeps spitting them out.
Also, I've brought this up before, by why MUST we back up to DVD? Why can't we backup to a folder location (such as network share or external HD)? DVD backup is slow, problematic, and wasteful. Especially if it fails, and you need to throw out the disks it's already burned, and will not resume where it left off before the failure.
For a company that's usually known for its design and "it just works" philosophy, how can you keep making such a broken, buggy product? Here's a thought, before cramming more crap into iTunes, let's just get it working as advertised for once? That would be nice. -
Intermittent stalling during audio/video playback
This issue is driving me up the wall. I hope someone can help.
Often, while listening to (for example) iTunes, playback stalls and there is silence for several seconds. If I listen to music for an hour, I guess I might experience the issue anywhere from 3-6 (?) times — though sometimes I can go for more than an hour without it happening. But: it doesn't just happen with iTunes — the same thing happens from time to time when using VLC for video playback (usually accompanied by some video artifacts), or HTML5 video playback within Safari. (I don't have Flash Player installed, though I occasionally use Google Chrome for Flash content; if I recall correctly I think the same thing sometimes happens with Flash videos/audio within Chrome too.)
Along the same lines, now and then I notice that when attempting an action within Mail.app, a task will appear in the Activity Window that's something like, 'waiting for the hard drive,' with a barber pole and stop sign. This will delay my action for several seconds. I suspect this is a different manifestation of the same underlying problem that causes the playback stalling.
I DON'T typically get the swirling beach ball of doom when any of these things happen. Mouse pointer does NOT freeze, and the system seems responsive in all other ways during these episodes.
I'm pretty Mac savvy, and I make sure to do regular hard drive maintenance (verifying volume with Disk Utility, rebuilding directory with DiskWarrior, etc.). My startup partition is only about 2/3 full. This week I used iDefrag to defrag the hard drive, thinking it might fix the problem, but nope it still happens. SMART diagnostics have never shown a problem.
When researching this issue on the web, some folks have suggested keeping an eye on the log files (Console.app), and Activity Monitor. I definitely haven't found anything in the log files that coincides with incidents of stalling. And nothing in particular seems to 'spike' in CPU activity in the Activity Monitor at the same time as the stalling; at least not that I've noticed.
I'm pretty good about keeping apps up to date, and I don't have too many apps running in the background. But the problem persists even when I've quit everything else except the app that's doing the audio/video playback.
This has been going on for a long time, and nothing I've tried has helped. Any advice or suggestions, anyone??
- GordChecking Console.app messages once again, the following lines seem to coincide with at least some of the stalling incidents:
