My Video Podcasts have Disappeared

I do not have my ipod set to update any of my media, and I recently noticed all my video podcasts are no longer visible on the ipod. They are however visible in iTunes. Why is this and how can I solve this issue?
PC   Windows XP Pro

Masna, I appreciate your quick response however I do not believe this will solve my issue for the following reasons:
The video podcasts are already on my ipod. When I click on my ipod in itunes (when connected to my pc) I can watch the podcasts. They are no longer on my harddrive. However, when I disconnect my ipod I cannot "see" the podcasts. I could see them before but now I cannot. There is a little playlist icon below my ipod. I just checked the video mode on these podcasts and it is set to movie. If I set it to TV Show can I browse it on the TV Option on my ipod? These episodes were downloaded for free from the itunes music store.

  • Podcasts have disappeared

I recently added podcasts to my 80g iPod. Last night I watched a few of them and figured out that after I'd watched them - the little blue dot beside the title disappeared. Very cool - a way to keep up with the ones I havne't watched yet.
HOWEVER, WHERE did the ones I've watched go?!?!? Many of my podcasts have disappeared??
Anyone have a clue where they went?? Do they go to some different storage area after you watch them? If so, I can't find them!
    PLEASE HELP!

This issue is due to the settings in iTunes and/or iPod.
Blue dot indicates play for episode has started. Playcount will change when play finishes. This point is important.
If iPod is set to keep unplayed episodes and an episode is partially played, at next sync the partially played episode will be removed from iPod.
Easiest thing for me has been to set iTunes and iPod to download all episodes and to keep all episodes. This way if the episode is in iTunes it will sync to iPod and stay there. After I have listened to an episode I delete it from iTunes, this will then remove it from iPod at next sync.
Another common issue is episodes downloaded outside iTunes will not be in podcast section on iPod. iTunes has a hidden setting that, so far, only iTunes can do to allow episodes into podcast section. Other episodes will be considered music and stored in music section.

  • HELP!! : Music and Video lists have disappeared from i-touch 2nd Gen

    Hi,
I've got the new iPod touch 16GB.
Today after synchronizing, all my Music and Video lists have disappeared from the menus. It also shows nothing in the iTunes browser, however the Storage bar on the summary screen is full with "Other", in an orange color but there's no media on it.
Does anyone know what's going on here and why I can't access the files any more?
Apps and other data were still there and all working fine.
Any help would be really appreciated.....

Too much (more than a few hundred MB) orange "Other" indicates an interrupted or corrupt sync.
A restore will remedy this. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • Playlists for podcast have disappeared in the latest appleTV update!

Does anyone know what happened to podcast playlists? After updating my appleTV over the weekend the ability to view my podcasts through playlists have disappeared. I have set up individual playlist on my Mac separating my podcast/vidcast into playlist that made listening to my podcasts on my iPod and viewing video podcasts on my appleTV or iPad much easier. Am I missing something? I primarily use my appleTV to watch Netfix and view my video podcast. With this disappearing the ability to watch vidcast has become more difficult and I will probably use my appleTV less.
I have also noticed that ios5 took out a number of podcast features (2x speed, 30 second skip, chapters, etc.). Is their a reason they have done this, because I don't see any advantage to taking out useful features that they previously had in ios4. While I am happy with the majority of the features on ios5, what they have done with podcast have made ios5 useless for me to listen to podcast, because I always listen to them at 2x speed. Hopefully Apple decided to add these features back, but until then I guess I will have to use my ipod nano to listen to podcasts.

Never mind, don't know if this is new or not, but podcast playlist can be turned on/off in setting / audio/video / playlist options / music only or all.
When I updated to 4.4.1 my appleTV basically defaulted/reset so I had to set it up all over again. Just needed to look a little more. Also, with the podcast features removed in ios5, I guess I just jumped to the conclusion that it was pulled from the appleTV.
That said, I feel apple needs to get more consistent with some of their apps on different OS's. Too many feature variation from one to another.

  • Video podcasts have jerky playback on my iPod nano 4G

I've been enjoying Good Game video podcasts on my 4G iPod nano for several months:
    http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/
About a month ago, the videos started stuttering badly every few seconds.
I asked ABC TV is they changed something about how they encode the videos, and they say they haven't.
Is it possible that one of the iTunes updates has changed video playback so my iPod nano can no longer cope with decoding the video stream?
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this problem?
    Cheers,
    m.

Have you reconnected your iPod since listening to the podcasts in question? If not, then you need to do that so that the iPod can update. The podcasts won't delete from the iPod itself after you listen to them until it is updated. (Someone correct me if I am wrong)

  • Where's the missing 13th video podcast from ricky gervais?

  • Why do my podcasts keep disappearing after I download them to my computer.

Since updating iTunes to the newest version, I have been having problems with my podcasts.  Specifically, my episodes keep disappearing.  The first time I figured it was a fluke, but it happened again and again.  Every time I close iTunes and open it again, the podcasts have disappeared even though I have all my podcasts set up to keep all episodes.  The episodes are all still listed, but there is a little cloud with an arrow inside pointing down next to each one.  There are a handful of random episodes that are still there (without the cloud and arrow icon).  I searched for the files in my computer's music folder and even the files are suddenly missing and I know they used to be there.  I don't know why this keeps happening.  Is anyone else having this problem and how can I stop it from happening?

Same problem. I am a daily Podcasts listener, and podcasts that worked the day before will literally not work the next day.  All the podcasts on my iphone will suddenly be broken. This keeps happening to me, and it's most glaring when I try to resume listening to an episode I listened to half of on the previous day. I suddenly get the error message:
Episode Unavailable: "This episode is temporarily unavailable from [Podcast name]
This started when I got the new Iphone 5s (iOS7) and was forced to switch to using the Podcasts app outside of the Music app.  And now it's happening constantly to my regular podcasts. The listened to status is also sometimes wrong. Podcasts I've already listened to, and in some cases deleted, will show up again as fresh downloads.
I have to remove the corrupted podcasts one by one and download them again manually.
RIDICULOUS and UNUSABLE. This Podcasts app does not work.

  • Video podcasts won't transfer to iPod - it's not a format issue

I've been watching the video podcast "Wallstrip" www.wallstrip.com on my iPod. Just the other day I noticed a problem with my iPod software (v 1.2.1) and performed a restore. THAT problem was fixed (clicking play all in a list such as genre just scrolled songs but didn't play them) but now there's a NEW problem: The Wallstrip video podcast, which USED to transfer and play just fine, is now identified by iTunes as one that won't play because it's not the right format. Clearly there's a problem with the iPod. I've looked at forums and I am aware that one can manually convert it to "movies" but that's clearly not the problem. If it worked yesterday and doesn't today something's screwy. Ditto for the "Planet TV" podcast. Anyone know what to do?

i have the same problem. several of my video podcasts have stopped transferring with the same format error which i know is incorrect.

  • Can enhanced podcasts have 4:3 aspect ratio?

Wouldn't it be nice to use all the real estate of an iPod screen and have chapter marker images 400x300, the dimensions of a Keynote slide? One is currently stuch having a blank band at the bottom and top of such a slide. True, you can double click on your picture within Garage band to crop it, but it gets cropped as a aquare, not 4:3. I can't find how Garageband allows that currently, yet video podcasts have that 4:3 aspect ratio. If you know how to do it, please post here. If not, please let Apple know we would like this as a feature. To submit such a request, launch Garageband and then under the Garageband menu at the top pull down and select "Garageband feedback". That's how you let them know to add this aspect ratio feature. Thanks!

Welcome. Will just add again, it is more up to the TV being able to deal with it. But as mentioned, if the TV has the component (or is it composite, I always forget ... why oh why did they name them so close) jacks, I would say there is a very high chance it will work just fine. Believe the setting in the AppleTV at setup would be 480i (or 480p)...one of those. If you pick the wrong one, it will figure it out and restart to let you choose the other.
The movies I play all play fine. I will admit I get many from BitTorrent and convert them to MP4 and haven't had any issues. And those I rent/buy from iTunes all play well.
The only place that is really a pain is the browsing of movies in the iTunes store from the AppleTV when viewing on a 4:3 TV. It all gets scrunched so reading the words below the images of the movie is a bit difficult, but not impossible. That is really the only place I wish worked better, but do understand they never meant for it to play on a 4:3 set (even if that set allows it).

  • Video Podcasts and Audiobooks will not sync

I have a fifth generation Ipod 80 gig and am noticing that video podcasts have not been syncing. They show up in my iTunes, but not on Ipod. Also audiobooks that I have in my iTunes were not syncing, even ones that were bought recently. It is quite frustrating so I would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks,
    Raoul

Two questions for video? Are they iPod compatible? iTunes should warn you if not. Where are you looking for the videos? Check under videos menu of iPod then video podcast menu.
With iPod plugged in, go to audiobooks tab. Is checkbox checked to include audiobooks?

  • Coverflow artwork for video podcasts

How do you set the artwork for a video podcast so it will show within the itunes library? I'm not talking about the end user setting the artwork but the podcast creator. Seems that itunes uses the first frame of video as a default but I have seen other video podcasts have a specific picture, not the first frame of video, as their artwork. Example, subscribe to Creative Cows Final Cut Pro Podcast and there is a picture in your podcast library.
    Here is my xml file
    http://www.ci.lakeville.mn.us/podcasts/meetings/podcast.xml
I use Lemonz Dream's "Podcast Maker" to create the xml files.

No bites on this one yet? . . . Okay, I'll have a go.
So what you want to do is set the artwork for your podcast . . . Fairly easily done, but you first need to understand something about artwork for your podcast FILE versus artwork for your feed XML. (They are two completely separate things!) In the case of what you want, your XML code (and the artwork linked therein) doesn't matter because it doesn't affect the podcast file once it has been put into a podcatcher of some sort (e.g. iTunes). The artwork from your XML is only really of use to the iTMS and sundry web readers. So, have no worries about what method/program you are using to create your code or the validity of your file.
To set/change an individual episode's artwork you actually have to edit the .mov (or whatever) file. Hold on - that's not as scary as it may sound. First, do you already have the artwork that you want to use? Or do you want to capture a "good" frame from your video and use that? If you already have artwork, awesome. If you want to use a certain frame from your video, all that you need to do is play your video and freeze it on the desired frame and take a screen capture. (To take a screen cap, use Print Screen or Alt+Print Screen on a PC; or Command-Shift-3 or Command-Shift-4 on a Mac -- crop it if needed, and save the file as a jpeg/gif.)
After you have your desired artwork lined up, all you need to do is open your .mov in iTunes. Right- or Ctrl-click on the file, and select the option "Get Info." A window should come up - the last tab will say "artwork." Select the artwork tab, select and delete the pre-fab iTunes issue artwork, and then click "add." This will allow you to select the file of your desired artwork. After you've added the artwork, click "okay." Your file has been successfully modified, and is now ready to be uploaded!
And ta-da, when someone downloads your podcast file, the artwork will show up when they play the file (or in coverflow). Why? Because the artwork is now part your video file, and it is included in the download of your podcast.
More info, and possibly less confusion, about what is going on with this topic can be found here. (When you're reading it, just replace "MP3" with "MOV" in your head.)

And now that my contract has expired, I have some options.  Last weekend, I called Verizon again threatening to leave.  The representative offered the same $75 rebate that was offered to me 6 months earlier.  I even offered up one of my device upgrades in place of a network extender, but that deal was knocked down.  And so now I’m left with the option to make a public spectacle out of this scenario and hope Verizon takes notice.  Failing that, I’ll be forced to leave Verizon behind.
I don't understand. If having service in your home IS important to you and you already know Verizon's policy, why have you not instead started to search for carriers which cover your home? It seems a pretty easy decision to me, at least.

I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.  For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large.  Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?

I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.

  • All podcast episodes have disappeared and I'm no longer ranking

I've successfully uploaded 6 podcast episodes over the past couple of weeks and had been ranking pretty well as of last night. Today I check and my podcast has disappeared from the ranks. When I search on my podcast, it is listed with artwork and description and ratings, but the episodes are all gone. I appreciate any suggestions or ideas on what happened and what I can do about it. Here is my link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/win-the-weight-game/id677470205

I would highly highly recommend if you are hosting with libsyn - use the libsyn feed - and not the one via powerpress.  Publish the episodes to your libsyn account - and then connect your libsyn account to your wordpress site via the libsyn Wordpress feature.
    http://support.libsyn.com/faqs/onpublish-wordpress/
There are so many tickets on here about issues with wordpress.
If you want your show to be in iTunes and be solid in iTunes - stick with the feed from libsyn and not from your wordpress / powerpress configuration.  In the long run you will have much much fewer issues - and libsyn support is there to help you for any issues you might have.
Email me if you want to know how to switch to the libsyn feed.
    rob (at) libsyn dot com
One of the best features of Libsyn  - is offering you a feed that works all the time with iTunes.
