My volume button is stuck??

I plug my iPod 4 Touch into my tower speaker when I'm at work.  It has been running just fine.  Today, I went to change the song on the iPod, and it seems that the volume button is stuck. The volume won't go down, and when I try, it gets increasingly loud.  Any suggestions?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My volume button gets stuck when I keep pressing it, it's software or hardware issue?

Restore as new, if that fixes the problem it is something in your settings or backup that was causing the issue.
If it does not fix the problem, you have a hardware issue.

  • Volume button is stuck

My volume button is stuck and a sound effects icon is in the middle of the screen

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • The volume button is stuck on my (6th generation) nano, how much will it cost to get it fixed and is it covered in the warranty?

As it says up top, The volume button got stuck. So, how much do you think it will cost me to get it fixed?
And is this something that is covered under the warranty?
I mean, the rest isn't broken or anything and is in working condition, I just need the volume button fixed.

The Apple warranty is one year.  If you purchased your Nano less than one year ago, it is covered by the warranty.  If purchased more than a year ago, it is not covered by the warranty.  Apple has a flat rate ($80, plus tax) for an out-of-warranty Nano repair.

Your issue has nothing to do with Apple networking. You may get better results posting to one of iOS areas of the Communities.

  • IPad Mini decrease volume button suddenly stuck down... Overuse?

A few nights ago, as I was watching YouTube, my decrease volume button on my 1st Gen iPad Mini got jammed down suddenly... It literally was working perfectly moments before. If you press down hard you can still turn the volume down, but it seems to just be stuck down. My Mini has always been in a case (looks brand new, no dents and such) and the power, increase volume buttons still 'click' and work perfectly but I've had it since Christmas 2012 so I think it could just be overuse. Any ideas on how to repair it?
    Thank you!

    Hello thisiscourtney-
I’m not sure if Apple still performs repairs on 1st Gen iPads anymore, but my recommendation would be to take it to an Apple store or contact Apple directly here for more assistance.
My guess is that most likely it would be uneconomical to fix, but that’s obviously your decision.
    Thanks for posting!

Sync it from your iTunes library. Synced media like apps and music are not included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I received a new Ipad2 for Christmas, I noticed the few times i used it the volume button was stuck , it would stay on the screen and keep Turning up, it has a dent where the volume isin the middle, apple said I could send it for a replacement but...

She also mentioned if I had an apple store here I could take it in it may be faster, we just had a new apple store that opened in our mall so I took it in, talked to the tech and he pushed the button to see what I meant, then he says yeah this is broken and dented from pushing so hard on it, I said it wasn't really dented that bad just the middle, it came that way, then he's says well we aren't actually a apple store we just sell there product here so you are best to go with Apple and send it too them like they said, I was dumbfounded I honestly think he made this worse when he pushed on it, now I am scared when apple receives me iPad they won't replace it like they said, it was bought this way apparently a bad lot went into the store my husband got it and they told everyone to call apple to replace because they don't replace electronics, I am freaked out now I feel screwed all the way around, what do you think Apples reaction will be, how good is their customer service in Canada when sent away? I am just worried because this wasn't my fault

Big issue?  Really?  I'm on this forum just about every night and yet, I have not seen posts about such a "Big" issue with any regularity.  If your iPad was dented when you got it (sorry for not really believing you), why did you wait until just now to try bringing this to anyones attention?  My guess is you dented the iPad.  Initially it wasn't an issue, but after pushing on the volume control too hard, it is an issue and you want a free replacement.  I'm probably right on the money and you'll likely have a not too kind reply.  That's OK, because I'm not the one who will decide the outcome of this.  Apple will and for you to get an answer, take it to Apple.  But, don't be too surprised when they don't offer a free replacement and they offer you an "out of warranty" replacement at about 50% of the cost of the device when it was new.

  • Ipod nano 6g volume button got stuck!

Is there any way to adjust the volume now? I just want to put it on the maximum volume and leave it that way... please help... I cannot return my ipod because it's off the warranty

There is a simpler way to go about it. Try cleaning it with alcohol and cotton swab. The buttons accumulate dust and sweat around it and get jammed. I had similar problem and tried it and the buttons work !
    Good Luck !

  • My ipod 6th generation volume button got stuck!

My ipod was just fine and I listened to it and then I went to turn the volume up for a good song that came on and the button didn't work. I looked at it more carefully and the button appears to be jammed in. The button to turn the volume down works just fine. The settings has it so that the volume limit is as high as it can go, but I can hardly hear it. Help!

  • Ipad Volume Button Stuck/Dented

My iPad 2's volume button is stuck/dented, not sure how it happened but it's dented in in the middle and it's stuck on the volume up and I can't click it to turn the volume down. I heard it's expensive to bring it into the store to fix, anyone have ideas how to undent it/unstuck it?
    Thanks!

TThe volume button on an iPad 2 is a rocker type switch. It is lower in the center and that may be what you think is a dent. Try alternately pushing the up or down side of the switch while lightly pushing a little up or down. Hopefully this will free the switch. An Apple technician may be able to correct this problem Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Having a technician look at the iPad won't cost you anything and the switch might be easily fixed.

  • IPad mini top volume button stuck

My son just received the ipad mini for Christmas and the top volume button is stuck. Do I just take this back to the place it was purchased to get it repaired?

Oh, well, it may matter. You would have to ask the retailer what their policy is.

  • Volume button stuck in down position

my volume button is stuck in the down position on the + side.  How can I fix this?  Is there a fix for this?  Appreciate any help.

I had a broken home button within 6 months. It was replaced under warranty. Now I have a broken volume up button less than a year later. They want $65 to fix with 90 day warranty. This is a major defect and they should have recalled these units. It is insane that they are still ignoring this problem and telling people to pay to have it fixed. I'm filing a complaint against Apple.
