My volume buttons won't work on my 2011 macbook pro 13.

The sound preferences says there is no sound output controls. I have sound but have to change the volume through system preferences. When I plug in headphones it restores the controls. What could be my problem? I have recently installed a driver for the Native Instruments Audio DJ 4 but my problem happens when not connected to this device. Before this I upgraded my hard drive to the Seagate Momentus XT with the latest firmware. Thanks for any input.

i dropped my iphone in the shower. yeah, i know, stupid me. the sound still came out a little gurgled. i tapped it against my hand a couple times and it became clearer, figuring water was in the speaker area. i used a blow dryer to see if i could dry out the remainder, but that resulted in the phone going mute. now the volume buttons done't work at all. no volume bar comes across the screen at all. no sound comes from the phone except for when i make calls. i can hear phone calls but the phone itself no longer makes any sound and the volume buttons do nothing.

the fix was time. after a few hours, everything came back to normal.

You may need to make a trip to an Apple Store or other authorized place to have it repaired, assuming it's a hardware issue. Whenever i try to turn it up, it won't work. So i go to the music and turn it up that way, but it slides down and is silent. it will stay for a couple seconds but not for a long time. everything else works, even though the volume pop up that comes on when you fix the volume in an app or on the menu. it goes away when i play music, but it comes back when i hit the home button to go to the menu. i've had it in rice for awhile since it might be water damage, but i don't know what i could do to make it back to the orginal state. please help me?!

Have you tried reset iPad?
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

My iPhone will not play any sounds, except for phones calls and my ringer. The volume will not work; when I press them the volume icon pops up on the screen, the volume won't change and the volume bar doesn't move on the screen. You may have Do-Not-Disturb set on. If you can see a quarter-moon symbol next to your battery indicator, then it is on.

I have a late MacBook Pro, recently bought Mountian Lion hoping I would get Power Nap, but unfortunatly not, could someone be able to explain why Power Nap is only for MacBook Pro Retina and MacBook Air please?

Because they have the 'official' Apple flash storage. Other flash storage devices on stock 2011 MBPs - such as SSDs - don't have the necessary firmware that Apple-sanctioned flash storage devices have.
It was a bummer for me, too. I've a SSD and was hoping to use Power Nap on my late 2011. But I have a Crucial m4, not an Apple device.
