My website crashes Firefox 4.0.1 but not 3.6.17, how can I fix this? Or can Firefox 4.0.1 be fixed for this?

I am using Windows7 64 bit on my PC, plus I WAS using Firefox 4.0.1 very happily and enjoying the new tabs in groups etc, but I just discovered that '''''that''''' version of Firefox crashes when attempting to access any of my website's pages.
My Website: [http://www.franontheedge.com My Main Website] www.franontheedge.com
and [http://www.franontheedge.com/animation My Animation Website] www.franontheedge.com/animation
I discovered this when adding a new page to my website to display resource images for a challenge on Renderosity's Bryce forum. The page I added is this one:
[http://www.franontheedge.com/animation/stills_inspiration.html New Page added] http://www.franontheedge.com/animation/stills_inspiration.html
in order to continue working, including working with my website, I have had to uninstall Firefox 4.0.1 and re-install Firefox 3.6.12, which today wished to update itself to Firefox 3.6.17 - which I allowed it to do - checking that my website was still accessible from the updated 3.6.17 version - which it is.
I tried to update my plugins thinking that might be my 4.0.1 problem - but even after updating all my plugins, Firefox 4.0.1 still crashed every time I tried to go to my own website - this is very dispiriting!!!
I could maybe understand it if Firefox 4.0.1 crashed just on pages of my site with video on it, but it does it on pages with just images and text on it as well.
Is it possible to:
a) Install both Firefox 3.6.17 '''''AND''''' Firefox 4.0.1 on this my 64 bit Windows7 PC?
b) Fix Firefox 4.0.1 totally?
Is Firefox 4.0.1 a 32 bit system? or is it 64 bit?
I have program files for both 64 bit and 32 bit on this PC, and can run other 32 bit programs with no problems at all.
I have no problems accessing my website with Google Chrome either, nor with Opera, but I '''''liked''''' Firefox 4.0.1 - and would like to be able to go back to it, but I won't if my own website is not accessible on it.
Please can anyone help?

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

  • I have to open website which opens only with google but not from safari. how can i get such google?

i have a website which opens only with google, but not google from safari. how i can get google w/o using safari?

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • When downloading/uploading any file with Firefox, Finder shows date but not time

On my iMac, as I either upload or download a file using Firefox after installing Lion, the Finder window that opens for me to tell it where to either download the file to or upload it from, shows dates of all the existing docs there, but not the time. How can I make it show the time as well?

    I have found the problem.
A download manager had been installed for a specific website and it was butting in all the time. Even after removing it with 'Add or remove software' it still had its hooks into the system and it was impossible to download anything as it now would not run.
Had to do an XP 'System restore' before I could get rid of it.
The offending program was MD_setup.exe size 3,045KB from the themediadownloader.com

  • Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows 7 (64-bit): ALWAYS get "Firefox is already running but not responding..." error and need Task Manager to close/restart Firefox.

I run Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows 7 (64 bit) and I get the "Firefox is already running but not responding. In order to open the program you must close the existing window." error. EVERY TIME I try to start Firefox. The posted solution works to start the program, but it is not a permanent solution. I go through the Task Manager and end the old Firefox process, then I can open a new window. While working, I can open multiple tabs and multiple windows, everything seems to (usually) work the way it should. Then after I completely exit Firefox, in order to open the program again I need to fix the SAME error again. Every time. It doesn't seem to hurt anything really, but it is quite annoying.
I used to get this same error on some of the older Firefox versions but it was only once in a while. With the new 29.0.1 it is literally EVERY TIME I TRY TO RUN FIREFOX!!!!
So, down to the big question: is there a permanent fix for this yet? Or will there be one included in the next version update? Or am I going to have to go back to Internet Explorer? I know I am not alone in this experience; i've seen several other users posting similar questions but none of them received satisfactory answers. So what's the story here, team Firefox?

  • On switching on, a message says 'Firefox is already running but not responding...........' then tells me to close it and restart but how can I close it when the page isn't yet displayed?

When I switch on my computer I get the desktop then I try to click on Mozilla Firefox but get the message, 'Firefox is already running but not responding. To open a new window you must first close the existing Firefox process or resart your system.' I looked up how to close but I need to click on 'file' then 'exit'. How can I do that when I can't see the page yet? IE is working fine.

  • "Firefox is already running but not responding" - have tried all the usual solutions.

The message I'm getting is the standard: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding." I'm using a PC with Windows 7.
    I've tried:
    - Opening task manager and manually ending the process. This didn't work because the process is not listed in applications, processes, or services.
    - Deleting the parent/lock file. This didn't work because the file is not in any of the firefox folders. I've checked APPDATA/Local/Firefox as well as APPDATA/Roaming/Firefox, and the original install folder just to be thorough. It's not a hidden file either - I have those set to display.
    - Creating a new profile and importing settings from the old one. I can't import settings because the old profile is still running.
    - Restarting before and after each of these potential solutions, including restarting in safe mode, shutting off the computer and waiting a bit before restarting, etc.
All I really want back are my bookmarks, which I've spent quite a while creating. Unfortunately, there is no file I can find for the default profile that has the bookmarks stored. When I created a new profile, a folder appeared with its name in the APPDATA/Roaming/Firefox folder, with all of the bookmarks, etc. There is no such folder for the default profile though - which is the one I want. I've even tried switching to Chrome and importing bookmarks, but that doesn't work because the bookmarks can't be imported while Firefox is still running.

    Does a new profile work?<br />

If there is no profile present then you also get that error about "Firefox is already running but not responding"
If you uninstalled Firefox at any time in the past and removed your personal data or deleted that profile folder yourself then you no longer have a profile to start with or restore files from.

  • Firefox is already running, but not responding to open a new window

I closed the only opened Firefox process that was running. Then clicked the Fox to start Firefox again. I received a message: Firefox is already running, but not responding, to open a new window. A few times a week

Firefox is shutting down windows I want to remain open. Example: I am done viewing one window. I click the X to shut the window and it shuts two windows. Every single time, attempt to close one windows, two windows close. Lately, I have been opening several windows with nothing but google search, just so it will shut that window and not something else I want to remain open. I could understand this if I was using tabs, but I am not. This has been going on for over two weeks. I don't like going back to history to open a window, I did not want closed in the first place. Isn't that what 'Windows' is all about? Any ideas?

Openning a Link from MS Office OneNote 2007 launches MS Internet Explorer althoug FireFox is my default Internet browser. Any idea how to cause OneNote 2007 to Launch FireFox instead?

Below is how it is being done.  This worked perfectly for years. MS Office 2007 does complain that the file extension does not match the data format (it's a tab delimited text file but I'm pretending it's an Excel file so they'll be prompted to view it as a spreadsheet in Excel) but you just click open and it works fine.  This issue with IE is new.  Let me know if you have any more ideas.
