My whole computer freezes.

This just happened recently, but it seems as soon as my skype starts up, my whole computer freezes. Skype then eventually closes, and the freezing stops. However, when I open it back up again the problem persists and my computer proceeds to freeze up once more. I have tried everything to restarting several (about 20) times, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling (20 times). When I go into my administrative errors, this is the message I get:

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

    For a few weeks now, I've been getting the "Bookmarks and history system will not be functional..." message. When I clicked for more information, FireFox would freeze.

  • When I play Minecraft on my Macbook Pro the whole computer freezes

    After a bit of Minecraft on my Macbook Pro (the amount of time before the freeze is always different.  I can go hours without it freezing up but sometimes it freezes after ten minutes), the screen will get distorted and my computer becomes completely unresponsive.  The only thing I can o is force it to shut off and turn it back on.
    This happened before, and then my hard drive was found to be bad, so I got a new one... now it is happening again, and I would love it if I didn't have to replace the hard drive again...
    One of my Engineering friends thinks it might be my graphics card or the computer itself, another said he'd never, ever seen something like the problem I am having.  I'd like to know if there's something I can do to fix this problem.
    My computer has a 2.8GHz Intel i7 duo-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512MB graphics card, if that is of any use to anyone who can help me.
    On a side, slightly less annoying note, when I plug in my headphones, the volume stays constant no matter how many times I adjust the volume using the buttons on the keyboard or the icon on the top of the screen.  I have to go into the system preferences to change the volume.  Sometimes, when I unplug the headphones, the problem persists with the computer speakers.  Any ideas why this is happening or what I can do to fix it?

  • Splashy stopped working after update, whole computer freezes instead o

    I update by "pacman -Syu" yesterday, and when I started up my computer today (no restart yesterday) it freezes where everything should start loading.
    I get the splash image I have choosen with splashy, but it doesn't load anything, it just stops there.
    If I remove "quiet splash" from the kernel bootline everything works fine again, except that I don't have any boot splash.
    I'm running x86_64 version of Arch on my laptop (Acer Aspire TimelineX 3820TG).

    Same problem here, Splashy is broken, I had to go back with previous mkinitcpio to get it working again.
    Progress bar is frozen, I have to go with CTRL+ALT+F7 to get to my login screen.
    @ ennui : removing the hook in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and the line SPLASH="splashy" in /etc/rc.conf, then running mkinitcpio -p kernel26 as root should do the job.

  • When I connect my iPhone it says "unable to load data class information from Sync services. Reconnect or try again later." And then proceeds to try to sync my phone and my whole computer freezes. My phone and itunes are both up to date.

    I even followed the instructions on Apple support page to get rid of the "unable to load data class Info." But it is still popping up and freezing. I even restored my phone and completely uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and it is still giving me the same notification and freezing. PLEASE HELP.

    Doublechecking something ... by any chance are you running any Eset security software on that PC (like Nod32)?

    Im trying to sync my iPhone 3gs with iTunes but my laptop keeps freezing after 14 songs why is this? I have recently upgraded to ios5 so im guessing its because of this..how do i solve my problem?

    Do you have all the latest software updates? This seemed to be a problem with earlier versions but everything seems to be running okay with iTunes 7.7.1 and iPhone 2.0.2 (which came out yesterday)

  • Whole computer freezes when Internet connects

    My computer has been experiencing the beach ball of death. But only when it connects to the Internet. When the wifi is switched off and no network cable connected then it works perfectly. However when I connect to the Internet either through my iPhone hotspot or my home broadband it slows to an absolute crawl. This does not happen to other computers on the same network. I have checked the network and it seems to be fine. Can anyone help me? I can't find similar articles. I have a mac book pro on 10.8.4

    I have done as you suggest. Below is me connecting my wifi and then going to Safari and then opening a webpage. During that I got the beach ball of death twice.
    It seems to have I/O errors occuring at this point. From a very quick look around this seems to involve a problem with my hard drive - although this only seems to be occuring when I am connected to the internet and I don't get the ball of death othertimes...?
    Can anyone help?

  • Why does my iPhoto freeze the whole computer when editing?

    Every time I edit in iPhoto, the whole computer freezes after about a dozen adjustments of any kind. I have to manually shut down and restart as no key commands allow access to any other app or the Finder.

    The freezing has been happening for quite some time, since before I upgraded to Snow Leopard, before I upgraded to iPhoto '11 from iPhoto '09, before I upgraded my mac mini from a solo ore machine to a duo core with much more HD space, etc. I think it started when I first installed iPhoto '09 , but my memory fails me. I have had other events interspersed with this recurring annoyance, hoping that it would go away during one of the upgrades I mentioned. However, it persists. I have wondered about reinstalling iPhoto, but do not know if that means I will lose all my editing changes.
    I do not know about any Console messages you refer to, but perhaps I am missing something. How would I find out? I do know that I am exhausted and frustrated by this. When the editing process causes the freezing, I cannot use any of the key escapes, cannot even shut down other than manually. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you for taking an interest in my dilemma.

    Hi - I suspect my iTunes application is corrupted somehow. If I don't remove a CD immediately after I burn it, my whole computer freezes. Also, CDs that I burn show up with a mislabeled name after they're burned. How do I go about uninstalling iTunes, but saving my rather substantial (3,000 tunes) library?

    Hi kelly003... Boot from your Tiger installer disk, select your language and then from the menu>Utilities select Disk Utility. select your hard drive from the left side and then Repair Disk. see if that straightens out your issue.

  • Entire computer freezes when I attempt to sync my iPod

    Every time I attempt to sync my iPod (video - I think it is a 5th gen??) my whole computer freezes immediately. It doesn't even get a chance to show that my iPod has been plugged in. The iPod itself acts as if it hasn't been plugged in at all - it doesn't even charge (it does in my wall charger).
    I deleted iTunes and reinstalled it - but that didn't work.

  • Photoshop CS6 computer freeze

    I'm having a continual issue with Photoshop CS6 (13.0.6 x64) completely freezing my MacBook Pro when doing the following action:
    Edit > Transform > Scale
    I am able to use this action instead without any issues:
    Edit > Free Transform
    About my Mac:
    OS X Yosemite 10.10
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)
    Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

    If the whole computer freezes (can't force quit, have to reboot), then you are looking at an OS bug, a low level driver bug, or defective hardware.
    Applications cannot cause a system hang, shutdown, or restart.
    Given that MacOS 10.10 is a new OS version with a number of unsolved issues, it is most likely a driver or OS bug that you are hitting.

  • Computer freezes when trying to sync ipod touch

    I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 64 bit and I'm not sure if I had this problem. I have the 64 bit version of itunes downloaded and I got a new 32gb ipod touch for christmas today. I plugged it in and set it all up and when it goes to sync, it shows that it gets to the 5th song out of like 500? songs I have and my whole computer freezes. I have my itunes setup so that it gets my songs from my external hard drive. I don't know if that would be a problem by trying to send my songs from my hard drive to my computer and then to my ipod. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

    i am having some success with my touch now by right clicking on the itunes icon and selecting, troubleshoot compatibility, troubleshoot program, program worked on earlier versions,then select, win vista service pack2. this is probably not a permenant fix but for the time being it seems to work. hope you have some joy with your setup.   • CS5 crashes whole computer

    Working in photoshop when using Filter function with Lens correction/vinette correction, noise reduction, or unsharp mask, my computer crashes instanely, no messages, have to reboot, loose all privious work done, I was only working one photo at a time, jpeg file, no enlargement. Due to this problem I send the computer to apple and reinstall the OSX, checked all hardwares, start from a clean computer. can find out why this is, is there a plugin I should install to prevent it from crashing? thank you.

    Does the whole computer freeze or shutdown, or does Photoshop hang or crash?
    If the whole computer freeze or shuts down - then you're probably looking at bad hardware in your system. Bad RAM is by far the most common cause, followed by bad motherboards, CPUs and power supplies.
