The only way to do what you want is to log into your wife's iTunes Store account on your iPad. Doing this will lock you out of your account for 90 days.

  • Making separate iTunes accounts without losing previously bought music

I used my Mom's account to buy songs off of iTunes for the last few years but now my Mom doesn't want me to use her iTunes giftcard to buy my songs anymore. Is there anyway I can create my own separate iTunes account that I can download my own music to WITHOUT losing the previous songs I bought under hers?
    Thanks

Yes, you need to authorize the PC for both accounts. That means signing in and out of the itunes store with both accounts.
itunes menu > Store > Sign Out
Just make sure you are signed into your account when you buy stuff.
If you ever switch PCs, you will need to authorize both accounts again.

  • My wife and I have separate itunes accounts, can I merge the two

My wife and I have seperate accounts, is there a way I can merge the two or have them recongnized as being linked so she can use the itunes match account I set up.

No, sorry, you cannot merge iTunes Store accounts. She can connect her devices to your iTunes Match account, but she'll have to use your Apple ID and password and, to the best of my knowledge, content she purchased via her own iTunes Store account will not be included, though I'm not certain about that.
    Regards.

  • I just got a 4S but wife has one already & itunes account.  Need advice on how to proceed

We have Windows 7 and only use one user account.  I am not opposed to creating a new one if need be.  She has itunes & her own account for her iPhone.  We have always used that account for music & sharing it on my iPod.  I now have an iPhone also.  Do I need a new account of my own or am I better served just using the same account?  Any other suggestions?

But I was wondering if you share the same apple id for app store and itunes wouldn't every app that he purchased also show up on his wife's phone.
No, you can just delete the ones you don't want on each iPhone.  The apps will still be retained within iTunes, but each device can store different apps. You choose.

  • If I make a new iTunes account, can I transfer my music and apps to it?

Okay so about 2 years ago, I went to my friend's house so that she could put music on my iPod and ever since then I've had an iTunes account through them (using their apple id to have a playlist, get apps, etc.) but recently I had tried to get a new app and when I entered the password for their account, it said that it was an incorrect password. I tried the password multiple times to see if I maybe typed it wrong but still there was no luck so my guess is that they changed the password forgetting that I was using the account, too.
So basically I just made this iTunes account to ask this question and I'm onderin if I reconnect my iPod with this account will I be able to transfer my music? (If this helps, I have the iPod touch 4th generation)

I'm not using their money like I don't have any of their songs or apps. Everything that I have I downloaded it myself. The apps are no problem if they can't be transferred because they're all free ones I just want to know if there's a way to sync the songs on my iPod that I physically downloaded myself to my new iTunes account.

  • Bought teen a laptop, created her own itunes acct, can I transfer her music from my computer to her laptop/acct?

I recently purchased my daughter a new laptop. She now has her own itunes account. Over the years she purchased songs, etc on my account and I want to transfer them to her laptop/ itunes acct and get them off mine,. Can this be done without using the home sharing?

You'll want to start by authorizing her computer with the iTunes account used to purchase the media on your computer.
In iTunes, click "Store", then select "Authorize This Computer".
Keep iTunes open on both computers for the rest of the process.
Open iTunes on her computer, on the left you should see your iTunes library under "Shared"
If you don't see it then go to preferences on your computer and make sure that "Share my library on my local network" is turned on. That option is in: Edit>Preferences>Sharing.
Now, on her computer, select your library and you'll be able to see a list of everything in your library. (You can click the little arrow next to your computer's library on her iTunes to sort by media type.) Select the media you want to copy to her computer and click "Import". Now just wait until it's done, then if you want to remove it from your computer just right-click on it, on your computer, and select "Delete".

  • My wife has an old iTunes account as well as a current iTunes.  How do I delete the old one?

My wife inherited my son's older iPod touch and now when we try to update apps our current account comes up then denies us access.  His account then comes up and he can't remember the password.  We're looking for a way to delete his OLD account.

You can't without repurchasing them from the new one.

  • I am thinking of purchasing and iPad 2. Me and my wife both have iPhones and separate iTunes accounts. Is it possible to access both of our iTunes accounts on one iPad?

I have been toying with the idea of purchasing an iPad 2. Me and my wife both have separate  iTunes accounts as we both have iPhones. I just wondered if it's possible to log into more than one iTunes account on one iPad, or if not would we have to set up a joint iTunes account?

What you could do is have one of you with the main iTunes account and use home sharing to get access to your wife's iTunes music, etc.  my wife and I do this, but we each have our own iPads.

  • If I have an ipod touch and an itunes account, can i get a shuffle and transfer songs i have onto it?

If I have a Mac computer and have an itunes account, can I download songs onto an iPod shuffle if I already have an iPod touch?  If so, how do I do that?  I'd like to get an iPod shuffle for when I work out.  Thanks for your help!

    Yes.
Connect the shuffle to your Mac, launch iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar click File > Sync iPod
If the music stored on the iPod touch you will need to transfer iTunes purchases to the Mac first then sync the shuffle.

  • How can I set up my Mac Pro so that my wife and I can use our separate iTunes accounts? I keep getting an error message that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID even though the two accounts are associated with separate log ins!

I'm getting very confused with setting up multiple user accounts on my Mac Pro for my wife and I. We each have a separate iTunes account, and we want to keep our music libraries seaprate. I've set up two user accounts on the Mac Pro and I have my iTunes authorised and logged into my user account on my user account. Under my wifes user account (i.e. a separate log in on the computer) I'm trying to set up her iTunes account, but I can't download or play anything from the cloud - it just says "This computer is already associated with another iTunes Account" and tells me that if I 'transfer' then I won't be able to use the other one for 90 days! This is really annoying as my wife can't access music she has purchased on her iTunes account on the home machine. We're not trying to do anything dodgy, just access our music on our own accounts on separate log ins on the same machine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

  • How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone? Can this be done?

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.
    Kindest Regards,
    Phil T.

You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

Hello, thank you for your prompt answer. I did have an idea that Home sharing might be the answer but could not quite figure out how to do it. I have enabled home sharing in my iTunes account, put in username and password, clicked on creat etc. But the homs sharing icon doew not appear in the left side of iTunes. So I got stuck. Any further ideas?
