My wife's iPad 2 won't update to IOS 5 on her iMac, my iPad 2 updated fine on my Dell PC- what gives?

My wife has a new (less than 6 months old) big beautiful iMac (of which I am extremely jealous-but that has no bearing on the conversation at hand) but every time she tries to update her iPad 2 to iOS 5 on iTunes she gets the error code 3259 at the very end of the 40+ minute download. I own a Dell (over 1 1/2 years old) running windows 7 and I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 5 when it was first released with no problems. I checked the message boards and they said that they were most likely experiencing an overload of people trying to download off the servers and that was causing the download issues. So I waited and tried again....and again....and again....and, well you get the idea.
I can not fathom how my PC updated fine but my wife's iMac (running the latest update of Lion and yes she updated iTunes and did the firewall settings correctly) can't/won't update it to save her life. Does anyone have any ideas????

Let's get your device working again! It's possible that your device just needs to be reprovisioned on our network. Please go to Settings>General>Reset>Subscriber Services>Reprovision Account. This may take several minutes. After allowing about 5 minutes for completion, please power your iPad off and back on, and test it again. Let us know if this takes care of it!

My Ipad Air wifi is extremely slow. I have seen online this is an issue. I have read responses but still confused. Ipad 1 worked fine.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I found the update function for Genius which is hidden in the Store menu but not in the actually Store. I repeatedly update Genius, get the message that it is communicating with Apple, then that Genius is updated but it never works. What gives?

Repeted updates to Genius do nothing. I always get an error message for all 13,000 songs I have. My disc drive crashed and its taken months to reload click by click every song from the cloud or my computer. iTunes repeatedly crashes if you try to load more than about 50 songs at a time, and always crashes around the 200th song. All my playlists were erased and when I synch one of my two iPods everything on that was erased including all the play lists, I don't ever want to synch my other iPod because it still has dozens of my play lists that it took years to create based on 13,000 songs. So warning iTunes totally ***** if this ever happens to you. My Zune account on the other hand was fine. Anyway back to the question at hand - Genius use to work for my collection. Genius still works for the iPod which I will never synch again, why doesn't it work for my collection now despite repeated updates. Suppose its just another buggy Apple piece of software. BTW don't ever use Apple's iCloud it eats your entire music collection, erases it from you computer and then doles it out one click at a time from the cloud - another stupid piece of software from the geniuses at Apple. But why am I surprised Apple destroyed the record industry, so why not destroy everyone's CD collection and just reduce us all to slaves of iTunes and its magic. I'm sick of Apple and its bloated reputation for great software.

Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install (Version 7.7.1). Does it go through properly this time?

I experienced same problem tonight and called Verizon technical support and they walked me through the settings on iPad. Took about 5 minutes. Basically it involved changing incoming.verizon.net to pop.verizon.net and changing outgoing.verizon.net to smtp.verizon.net. But it's worth the call to ensure other settings are OK. Evidently, change at Verizon was effective today!

I have an iphone 4s and an ipad mini, both updated to iOS 7 and they both will not connect to wifi. They will connect when I am at home or at Starbucks etc., but not while I am at school. My phone did connect at school last year, but has not been able to connect this year. IPad 1 won't update to ios 5

My Mum has been given an iPad 1 by a relative who has bought an iPad Mini as a replacement.
She uses a PC so I have installed iTunes onto it and am trying to update the iPad to ios 5 (as a number of apps I'm trying to install for her just won't load without ios 5). However, every time I try to update it I get an error message saying "the disk is full. Removing files and emptying the Recycle Bin will free up additional space". I've emptied the recycle bin but it still won't work and I'm pretty sure the disk is not full as she doesn't use it for much other than surfing the net.
Can anyone help?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

Any apps that were downloaded by the previous owner using their Apple ID can't be updated using your ID.

IPad Mini (first gen) won't update to 8.1?

Hi, I have an iPad mini (first gen 16gb with 10gb free space), and it won't update to 8.1.
I've tried doing it through iTunes connected to my Windows 7 laptop and I've tried to do it over wifi and cellular -- it will download, but when it "prepares to update" nothing happens. It just sits and hangs. For hours. It won't stop unless I delete the update off the iPad and force close iTunes.
The screen doesn't turn black or act like it's updating at all. It acts normal.
There's no damage to it, it's in a case and has never been dropped or scratched; it looks and acts brand new other than this.
What is causing it and how can I fix it?

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Apps won't update over wifi

Hi All my iPhone 5 and new iPad won't update apps or download music through wifi the message says unable to download (app name) please try again later with options of retry or done .
This problem of connectivity will only happen when trying to download through iTunes or the apple store if I then check a web page and browse it has no problems using the Wifi. My broadband provider is 02 I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem I have done a speed test through the iPad and I am receiving 5.88 Mbps any ideas ?

I also have the same problem but on an iPhone 5C. everything else like itunes radio work fine, it's just the itunes and app store. I have recently updated to ios 7.1 and some of my apps crash when i open them.

My wife's iPad 2 won't update to IOS 5 on her iMac, my iPad 2 updated fine on my Dell PC- what gives?
