My wifi connection only partly works?

I am currently connected to a wifi network at an office building.  I can connect fine but for some reason facebook chat and notifications will not load.  Is there a reason for it?  And my facebook will let me login on chrome, but it won't let me login on safari?  I really don't understand why and I could really ues some help.
Thanks!

i sometimes have the same problem. when you connect to wifi at any place like when you go to starbucks or whatever, they can set up who can use what and they can select if you need a password to connect and use there wifi. and they can do the same thing for what people can use. and sometimes they only allow you to use certain things when you are connected to it. i dont think you can really do anything about connecting to facebook and your network at your office building maybe really crappy also. hope it helps:)

  • My iPad 3 wifi connection has been working perfectly.

My iPad 3 wifi connection has been working perfectly. Now I have lost automatic connections and when I join wifi told it is the wrong password. IT IS NOT. I have reset the network settings and can then connect with no problem. Keeps happening every time I try to join another wifi connection. Seems I can only store one connection at a time. This is a new problem and previously all of the connections I am tying to join worked absolutely perfectly. Is this a software update problem?

Thanks. Seems unlikely that several Wi-fi routers that were working fine have simultaneously stopped doing so.
Have tried a full system reset and set up the ipad as a new device again. Will find out whether that has worked when I try to connect my next wi-fi router tomorrow morning. I will also double check with the other ipad users whether they have been experiencing any problems with the router I could not connect to today until I reset the network settings.
    Thanks again

  • Ios 7 wifi connected but not working

my iphone 5s running ios 7 is connected to my home wifi but its not working, but my pc is doing fine on that wifi. and when i try connecting my iphone to other wifi it seems to work without any problem. i've reseted network settings many times and reseted all settings once but it wouldnt work for me. so whats the problem and how can i fix this?

Try power cycling your router. Remove the router from power for about 30 seconds and then start it back up again. After it is finished configuring, try connecting your device again.

  • Iphone5 - Downloading application from app store takes more than 24 hours to download and install, even if the memory size of app is very small about 2 MB. WIFI connection seems to works well - because the webpages browsing using safari is very fast.

I face problem with downloading application from apple store.
It took more than 5 hours to install google maps application and many other application took more than 24 hours.
It is very worst to see such downloading performace with my new bought iphone5.
My WIFI connections seems to be very good. As I can able to open many webpages at very high speed.
I can able to see my many HD videos open and play immediately once I touch.
Though i cannot able to test the speed, as the www.speedtest.net also not working in my iphone5.
When i launch speedtest.net app i get the message "Finding closest server" forever and it is never showing the speed details.
My laptop shows the 10Mbps speed with speedtest.net on the same WIFI network
I got much frustrated with iphone5. Can someone help me to fix this issue ?

  • Ios 8.2 wifi connection no longer working

"upgraded" to ios 8.2 on iPod touch 5 and now no wifi connectivity no matter what steps.  Already did the reset, hard reboot, etc .

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost Likely you did this but not sure what a hard reboot is)
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • [SOLVED] WIFI connection is not working

    Yet Another WIFI issue
    When I try 'wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -c <(wpa_passphrase "mylongssid" "mylongkey")'
    I receive this error:
    Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
wlan0: Failed to initialize driver interface
I was on my wifi at home this morning surfing the web and then I went to school (So I hopped to a different WIFI in other words)
It seems no matter what I do with netctl, iw, wifi-menu, and ip link that nothing works.  Currently I do know how to set wlan0 up/down, restart my netctl profiles, display iw stuff, scan with iw, etc.
But I do not seem to know enough.  Can anybody help by providing some debug commands?

Some Broadcom chip that has b43 firmware.
I will post the output of the lspci in a few moments.  I have to transfer some output via a flash drive.
Here is the output of some stuff:

My drivers worked fine this morning at my house, and they usually work at school after a reboot.  So I am not sure why you need driver info.  My question was what debug commands can help me diagnose my wpa_supplicant error?  As in what log files can I check?  If I could find a log with a more descriptive error, I might be able to fix my WIFI.  Or possibly some logs for netctl?  I really do not know, since networking is usually magic in all the easier linuxes I have used in the past.
Thanks for the really quick responses by the way   I have never had such a fast help response for any other distro.
Edit: I should note that both my home and school networks have the same type of WPA security.
Update: When I booted my labtop at home, I ran wifi-menu and voila my home network was working.  I will try the WIFI at school again tomorrow and post another update after that.
Update 2: Running wifi-menu at school worked today.  I have no clue why it did not work yesterday.  (I really should setup netctl-auto)

  • Home wifi connection only worked first time?

    Hello.
Second day with my new 3GS and it says 'unable to join the network BP'. When I first switched it on last night it found the network, I entered the password and it was connected. Even made a phone call via Skpye - very cool! Love this phone, hoping a simple glitch to fix this problem? Reading old posts I have tried restoring network settings, turning off, reentering WPA and SSID. Have checked Apple support page. Not sure about router settings - should I be calling Bigpond?
    Thanks.

You should not have enter the SSID unless your router withholds it to hide your network. I would try re-starting the router and the network should appear in the Wi-Fi network list and your iPhone should join your network automatically without re-entering the password and assuming it is in range of the router.

  • OS update 2.1.0.1032 now my wifi connection doesn't work properly HELP

My wifi worked perfectly until the recent OS update.  Now I can only get a connection to last for minutes before it stops working.  The green wifi signal will show but it won't actually work.
Is there anything I can do?  Try to reload the OS update.  I don't know if it makes a difference but I accidentally pressed the standby mode button during the loading of the update.

I would say my receiver is 80% as sensitive as it was on 2.0 but had no problems frequently disconnecting and it reconnects as soon as I move back nearer. You should try the usual router changes...
Make sure if you are on 802.11n (wireless N) you have encryption set to WPA2 (AES)
    Or change to 802.11g
Or debrick the playbook in extreme cases and reload the OS.

  • IPhones WiFi Connection Suddenly Stopped Working

Woke up this morning and my iPhone is failing to connect to my home WiFi network (Uverse through a 2WIRE 3800HGV-B router, WPA Personal security). My Macbook and my wife's iPhone are still connecting without any problems, so I know the network is good. I've tried reentering the password; rebooting the iPhone; and turning WiFi off, forgetting the network and building the connection anew, but no dice. I also made sure the iPhone's software was up to date (it was). Haven't had a chance to try any other WiFi networks yet.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Nate

Tried #1; didn't work. As for #2, since I synced after this began, wouldn't that just restore that last backup and thus be ineffective? And for #3, what's the best way to do so and then restore everything I want to keep (accounts, pics, etc)? (I don't want to try any of these more drastic measures before having a chance to see if the iPhone connects to other known networks, hopefully Monday or Tuesday I'll be near some).
As for the router/MAC thing, this iPhone has worked on this network without problem for five months, since I first set it up. There have been no changes to any part of the configuration.
    Thanks,
    Nate

  • My MBP 7,1 wifi connection suddenly stopped working. It was working fine before until the battery emptied. I turned it on but it froze so I tried to reset it. Then, after that it no longer detect any wifi signal in any areas I go.

Hi Everyone. My MBP 7,1 didn't have any wifi issues not until 2 weeks ago. The laptop's battery got empty and when I tried to turned it on, the computer just froze. So I tried to reset it. However, I noticed that the wifi or airport can no longer detect any wifi signal. There were instances that it wouldn't turn on when I shut it off but now, it seems okey. I tried the zapping of PRAM and deleting all the things needed as I saw in different threads but it still not working. The ethernet works fine but I still need the wifi. Its been 2 weeks already. I don't have an Apple Store near me coz I am in southern part of Philippines. Can someone shed light on this? Thank you so much.

Hi!! To add more to the issue, the other day, my airport card is nowhere to be found. It now says no airport card installed which is really crazy. I also noticed that my MBP freezes during start up and I had to zap the PRAM so it would open up. Anyone there who experienced the same thing? I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

  • Previously succesful public wifi connection no longer works for Ipod Touch?

I work at a small airport in canada. Free public wifi is available via an Aliant Hotspot. I've used my Laptop on many occasions there. When i purchased my Ipod touch, 4th generation, it worked fine too. Until recently. Now, the touch recognizes that the network is there. it connects, or so it appears, but the welcome page will not load to allow me access to the interent. Please help me! Normally, as soon as i choose my hotspot network, the welcome page comes up, allows me to select my language.... legal agreements... another page as a welcome, and then full access the internet.... now nothing.
I'd be so grateful for some help!

    Diane,
You're very welcome, I know that is some kind frustrating when a problem appears and it's quite difficult to find the solution.
    So let's trying with this:
Based on your feedback it seems that the iPod is receiving correct data from the router, what we can try here is the following:
Connect the iPod touch into the network, and copy the network data (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS) into a piece of paper, then in the iPod Options of the network, there must be a button indicating DHCP, now press a button that must say Manually and the network data will be erased, then you must capture the information that you had copied in the paper.
When you finish, wait a couple of seconds and then do a test.
Here I have a question, you said that the iPod worked fine until recently, so another tip is try to connect your iPod to another network, this may discard that the problem with your iPod could be a hardware problem.
But first try with the insertion of the data manually.
    We keep in touch!,
