  • Personal Hotspot, all looks fine, but mac cant conect to internet...

Ok, so I have an iPhone 3gs running on version 4.3.5, and a MacPro on SnowLeopard.. Everything is up to date.
I'm with a Brazilian carrier, in Brazil, and the carrier has the option for inernet tethering, wich I have used many many many times befor.
On my phone, the Personal Hotspot (still dont know why they changed the name, its still tethering) option appears, turns on, all is normal. Phone signal is great and 3g is working fine on the phone.
On the MacBook, it finds my phone, with the cable and threw blue tooth, and it connects ok to the phone. BUT it is not able to transfer the internet connection, even though on my phone it shows one user (me) on the personal hotspot...
I updated about a month ago to 4.3.4, tethering worked for a wile, then one day... stopped working. Just updated to 4.3.5 and still is not working....
I read threw a lot of threads, her, on google.. And I cant seem to find anything that can help me fix this. I have rebooted, reorganized, renamed.. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks...

I think you need to work it out with your phone carrier.

Check the IP address assigned to your iPad (touch the ">" next to your network name in Settings > WiFi). If it starts with 169 then your router has not assigned a valid LAN IP address to your iPad. It might appear to be connected but you will have no success on the internet.
Sometimes restarting your router by temporarily (30 seconds) removing/restoring power to it will solve this problem. If it doesn't check that your router has up-to-date manufacturer's firmware and test your iPad on some other networks to see if it works properly there.

Which model iMac do you have? Which OS system is currently installed on your comp?

  • My ipod will connect to my wifi, but it cant access the internet

Okay my problem is, that my ipod touch 4th gen, will connect to my wifi, it will even have full bars, but when I try to go onto the internet, it says "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet." What is wrong and how do I fix it?

    - Can you connect to other networks?
    - Have y successfully connect to this network before?
    - Try powering off and then back on your router.
    - Reset your iPod.  Nothing will be lost:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset network setting on the iPod: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

This is the iPad forum. The Imac forum is here: https://discussions.apple.com/community/desktop_computers/imac_intel
Your post will likely be moved there shortly.
Anyway, you need to give them some information:
What type of device is providing the internet.  Type, make and Model.
Can the iMac see any other wireless networks?

If these don't work you may have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for an evaluation or contact Apple Support.

  • My phone got very hot, now I cant conect to internet, what do mI need to do ?

Can ypou please help me, my daughter left her Ipod touch in a tent and it got very hot, now we cant get acces to internet, I tryed rebooting the I pod, and still cant get internet acces

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If that's the case, here are some standard repair procedures.  Hopefully there is no hardware failure.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • This page can't be displayed because your computer is currently offline - Wifi is connected, but cannot connect to the internet! :/

"This page can't be displayed because your computer is currently offline" - what exactly does that mean? I've gone through and repaired by hard drive, and there didn't seem to be a problem there. I've manually entered in an IP address several times...and I've checked that there are no proxies selected. Any suggestions or thoughts on what I could do?

    Here's a little background info:
Connection is to school wifi. I traveled out of the U.S. and connected to a university wifi - authenticated the 802.1x there...so - i've corrected that problem so far.
I've rebooted my computer several times, checked the hard drive for "damages."
I've made sure to have the correct username/password combinations.
As of right now, the 802.1x won't authenticate, but I don't think that's what's causing me to have an "offline connection"

  • Wifi says connected but can't connect to internet, email etc

my ipad wifi says it's connected but can't get internet, email etc.

Try unplugging your WiFi router for a few seconds.  Then reset the iPad network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect to the WiFi.

  • I can not use wifi on device but 3g is connecting to internet fine. help?

My BB curve is a UK vodafone based phone and I have had no problem with web connection until I moved to Ireland. I put an irish vodafone sim card in and could not use my wifi any more. When I am back in the uk and put my original uk vodafone sim card back in my device I cannot get the internet through wifi either. 3g connection works fine where ever I am situated. In both instances my device is showing it is connect to a wifi signal but I cannot browse the web as a window is poping up stating there is a problem/cannot connect. Vodafone staff have been unable to help me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Try repair Quicktime.
    START/CONTROL PANEL/PROGRAMS n FEATURES/highlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR button

  • Wifi is working but cannot connect to the internet

    I am using windows 8.1
My wifi is working - my iphone and ipad can use it and my PC is connected to my broadband but I cannot connect to the internet. I have turned everything off and on a number of times.
I am totally stuck as to how to fix this.

Presumably you are connecting by Ethernet. Has this just started to happen or have you never been able to connect?
Have you tried changing the cable, is it plugged in correctly, have you tried plugging it into different ports on the homehub?
Have you checked that the computers firewall is not set to block connections, see link
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/windows-firewall-from-start-to-finish
If you are not using the Windows fiewall have you checked to see if your antivirus/firewall is blocking connection?

If Join was on then your home wi-fi must be set to Non-Broadcast.  If you did not set this up (maybe your provider did) then you will need to find the Network Name they used, and any password they used.  The SSID is Security Set ID and to see more try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSID .  Basically it is the name used to identify your router/network.  A lot of times the installer will leave it set as LinkSys, or Broadcom or whatever the manufacturer set it as for default.  Your best bet is to get whoever installed it to walk you through how they set it up, giving you id's and passwords so you can get in.  HOWEVER, if you are not comfortable with this (if you set security wrong, etc.) you would be well ahead of the game to hire a local computer tech (networking) to get this working for you.  You can also contact the vendor of your router and get help (if it is still in warranty), or at least get copies of the manuals as pdf files.  Sorry I can't give you more help, I hope this gives you an idea where to go from here to find more.

i cant connect to wifi but my laptop can and my other phones can.ived done all the recommendations in ipad support but still cant connect..what else shall i do?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
