My wifi printer will work plugged into my iMac, but when disconnected by cable, it won't see the wireless printer
I can plug my wifi capable printer into my imac, and it will see it and print. When I unplug it, it states that it is off line. I am able to print from another laptop, so the printer is not off line - is there a setting I am missing?

I bought an iMac a week ago and installed Firefox via Safari. It worked fine for a while but, after a recently switching on, it won't connect to the web whereas Safari has no problems.
I've tried following the Firefox Help, looking into the iMac firewall, but still no luck.
I've no idea whether related or not but yesterday I had a system glitch where the iMac stated no wi-fi was installed and only connected via a physical lead to my house router. Also, there was no sound output via Safari. However, after booting up today all seems well – apart from Firefox still not working. It loads the start page but can't access the web.
I have Little Snitch running, and wonder if that's the culprit... but it's working fine with Safari, seemingly.
(Finally, how do I stop a dialogue box appearing on start-up saying that "To open “X” you need a Java runtime. Would you like to install one now?)
Any ideas anyone?

If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP. In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa. I am having exactly the same issues as above. When I connect my iPod Touch, it shows up in iTunes but not as a device in either iPhoto or Image Capture.
It was working fine earlier this evening, I had moved all my photos to my Mac (MBP w/ Mavericks), updated to the latest iOS software and said yes to a software update for the MBP.
Photos were showing up just fine, and iPhoto asked me if I wanted to delete photos from the iPod because they had already been imported. I said yes. It proceeded to do its thing, and then about 5 mins later was again showing photos in the device and asking me the same question. I said yes again, and halfway through deleting the already-imported photos from the iPod, it just stopped, and the iPod disappeared from the devices list in iPhoto.
I have not been able to get it to show up again as a device listed in iPhoto, nor in Image Capture. It does show up and appear to work normally in iTunes.
How am I going to transfer over photos next time?
I have tried shutting the iPod off completely, and turning it back on again. I have ejected it from iTunes, unplugged and remounted it countless times. It does not show up as a device in iPhoto or Image Capture. I am at a loss.
Lastly, when I updated to the latest iOS, I already saw the initial "Do you trust this mac?" in iTunes and I already said "yes" on the iPod. It worked fine, until it didn't. Unless there is another way to get the "Do you trust this mac" to pop up again to say yes a few more times, I don't know how I can try that "fix".
Any help would be appreciated... I tend to take a lot of photos/videos, so it won't be long before I'll need to transfer them over... -
I imported my i photo library into aperture.
I can see the i photo events in aperture library as events with the number of photos in each event.
When you click events in the aperture library no photos appear although if you roll the cursor over the event icon it show the photos. If you click on the event either on the event icon or in the library no photos appear.
HelpCheck, if you have any filters set. The search fields in the Insector panel and the browser should be showing "All items" or "Showing All".
The Browser search field could be set for each project and album individually, so you have to check it for each project.

For example: The projects count shows "20 items", but the browser is empty, because the project's filter is set to show only rejected items. -
My old iphone 3g has photos on it. When I try to get the photos off and onto my imac iphoto and image capture only bring up the camera roll. I have more pictures that arent on the camera roll there are albums and a photo library full of pictures that I want off of this dang phone. I have tried everything and I cant email them to myself because the service has been cut off of the phone. They are stuck on the phone there is there any way to get them off? Am I missing something.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.
Again, the photo sync is one way.
Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your old computer?
Not good. You can e-mail the photos from your iphone. You do not need to have phoe service for this. The iphone uses wi-fi. The photos will never be of the original quality, as they are reduced when synced to iphone. -
I'm travelling and trying to back up my new iPhone to iCloud. I have sufficient storage, am connected to wifi and it's plugged into a power source and yet it doesn't seem to work at all. I'm currently in India. Could that be the cause or can anyone suggest any reason why this wouldn't work?

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test: Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options. Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup. If that doesn't work, then this post will not help. If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup. If successful, keep repeating these steps. If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail. (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one. -
USB cable will not plug into my 6555.
The USB cable that came with my 6555 will Not plug into the phone. It seems to be slightly too big. The Nokia Accessories page lists CA-101 as the right one (for $30.00). However, the cable that came in the box has no designation so I cannot confirm the right cable was packaged. I bought this phone at Best Buy and there is no reference on their web site for a USB cable accessory. I do not want to order a $30 part to replace one that was mis-packaged. Does anyone have experience with these micro-USB cables and can confirm which is the right one and where to obtain one? Regards.

I went to Best Buy and talked to the sales team lead. The cable that was packaged in the 6555 box has a *mini* USB connection. The pjone requires a *micro* USB connection. So, my assessment that the cable end would not fit was accurate. The box was missing a small adapter that converts the mini cable end to a micro cable end. He offered to sell me a universal USB cable with the adapter included for half the listed retail price. I paid $8.00. (better than the $30 for a CA-101 from Nolia).
The adapter fits the 6555 USB port. I tried both the universal cable and the Nokia cable to link to 2 of my PCs (w/ Win XP) after installing the Nokia PC Suite. Neither worked. It seems that the PC does not recognize that the phone is there. I know there are other posts with related issues on this forum. So I will drop this thread and search for answers to the latest problem.

Keep receiving "USB Over Current Notices" since updating to OSX 10.6.8. I have no devices plugged into my Imac and running everything wireless. SMC/PRAM resetting did not work. Does anyone have some advice or can help?

Pretty strange, but...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, does it happen in Safe Mode? Reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.) -

Does Apple make Electric Guitar cable to plug into my iMac?

• To make a connection with a 1/4" plug on one side and a 1/8" on the other, you don't really have to buy an expensive new cable, a simple adaptor and a normal guitar cable will do. -
Ipod is dead when plugged into usb port or when using on/off switch
absolutely no displayPress and hold the power on button and the circle button on the front for about 10-15 seconds - If nothing try to plug in to the usb at the rear of the PC for more power and then try again.

I have a WD my book external hard drive plugged into my imac and I want to share it over my network with my apple tv. I went into system preferences > sharing, checked "file sharing" and added my external hard drive to the shared folder. So now it is listed in "shared folders" but under "users" everything is grayed out (it says "read and write" for "everyone" - but "read and write" is grayed out, and it doesn't let me add or subtract users). Now I can access all of the folders I shared from my imac except for the externalhard drive. I have a word document that I have put hyperlinks in and turned into a pdf. When I email and receiver opens in iPad the document is blank. When I do a file save as pdf the document appears and the hyperlinks work but the document has much of the content turned into symbols. What is going wrong?
You select the printer properties and set the appropriate page size (I think there is a place to set it in PDF Maker too, but not sure). In the printer, this is equivalent to putting the proper paper in the printer.
