My Windows XP failed to install Adobe Reader XI Int Explorer script error?

On my Windows XP, I failed to install Adobe Reader XI  because of Internet Explorer script error - how can I overcome this?

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you may download the full offline Reader installer for the version you want from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Installing firefox brings up internet explorer script error

I've clearly installed some kind of malware, etc... Now, I'm trying to install firefox completely new and right upon startup, directly after asking if I want to run the install I get a popup "Internet Explorer Script Error"
An error has occurred in the script on the page.
    Line: 3
    Char: 4412
    Error: Object Expected
    Code: 0
    URL: http://d1w1h2aw6b6mz2.cloudfront.net/?v=7&aff=A004
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
If I click no another of the same window will show up with different text. If I click yes, then the installation window has a a blinking textbox that I was seeing in firefox before I uninstalled it, "You may be the 1,000,000 visitor". The installation window itself reads about ConstaSurf program.

And... after Firefox gets installed, before you run it, try creating a clean profile that won't be affected by your earlier settings file and extensions.
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested (i.e., skip the button that lets you change the folder). Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
Cleaner?? If so, we can point you to articles on restoring your last bookmark backup to the new profile, and moving over any other critical data.
Or you can try to clean your old profile, which might be less work in the end.
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • Failed to install adobe Reader

Tried to reinstall Adode Reader with the help of your technician . Got an Icon on my windows, but when I click on it I just get an Adobe black page.
The tech then advised me to ask for your help as i am doing now.
I am on Windows XP, and when someone sends me an attachment to open, it opens in my Adobe Photo Shop which you can't read because of the checkered background. I hope you can help me with this matter? Thank you. Oliver L. burger

Sounds like Reader is opening fine, you just aren't opening a file. Try opening REader again then use File>Open to open a PDF. What happens?

Your file associations are messed up. You can highlight a PDF then right-click on it to get the dialog box. Choose Open with>Chose program, choose REader then check the box that says "Always use this program to open this kind of file".

  • Error 1500 - windows 8 - cannot install adobe reader

    Hello everyone,
I have a new computer with windows 8 and tried to install adobe reader. During installation an error occured (1500) specifying that another installation is in progress. I tried through the simple installer and the one from the page http://get.adobe.com/pl/reader/completion/?installer=Reader_11.0_Polish_for_Windows. In both I get the same message. No need to mention that I am not installing anything else. As for the anti-virus programme I just noticed that my trial subscription is over so probably it is not the problem - the McAfee is not running (?). Could you please help me with this problem?

    Hi pati-wiewiorka,
Follow the steps mentioned in http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/error-1704-or-1500-install.html
    Thanks!

  • Problems Installing Adobe Reader 11

When I try and install Adobe Reader I get an installation error which says the "setup was interrupted before AR 11 could be completely installed. Error code 150210"   My OS is Win8 Pro 64bit ( is that the problem) I've closed all running programs and disabled my AV software all to no avail, searches of Adobe and the Internet have returned nothing.

It is possible that the link provided will not help.
All errors between 150130 and 150213 are extraction errors - AdbeRdr11000_en_US.exe file from the link is self-extractor, which means that it might fail as well.
I suggest to use MSI version (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi) from
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/
    Good luck

  • I am using Windows 7 and have installed Adobe Digital Editions 4. When I try to borrow a book from the library, it says it can't find the program

I am using Windows 7 and have installed Adobe Reader 4, in order to use a Kobo E-Reader.  When I try to "Borrow" the book from the Library, I get a message that it cannot find the program to use to open it.
This problem started about 2 months ago.  Up to that time everything worked well.
    Hoping for a solution.
    Any answers?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Bookmarks+not+saved#w_places-database-file
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
    See:

  • Cannot install Adobe Reader 9

    Hello,
I have problem to install Adobe 9 on two Terminal Server.
Windows 2003 French R2 SP2 with Office 2003 and all Microsoft Updates.
Previous version of Adobe Reader was 8.1.3.
When I install Adobe Reader 9, I have this error message (translated from french):
"Program have not enough rights to access folder: c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\9.0. Impossible to install.
Open an administrator session or contact your system administrator."
Of course I'm Domain Admin. And I have access to the folder.
I have try to manually create the folder 9.0 in c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\ and it gives me the error:
"Error when creating the folder "c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\".
I test with an other admin account, and with the "run as" command, same problem.
I have test Adobe Reader 9 in english: same error:
"Error 1303. This instsaller has insufficient privileges to access this directory: c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\9.0. The installation cannot continue.
Log on as an administrator or contact your System administrator."
It's very strange because now, I cannot reinstall Adobe Reader 8.1.3, or 7.1.0. Nothing happen when I click on the icon.
I never have trouble on those servers to install/uninstall applications. And never have trouble to install Adobe 9.
Any idea? I will make some searches about the #1303 error.
    Thanks

I have try this solution for the same error for other Adobe products:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405850
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=332541
    Ok, it works.
I have to apply full rights on folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\application data\adobe for the local admin group, and not the domain admin, and it works. :)
    Thanks

I already pass various reg cleaners, I try with regassasin, I try to change permissions but I can't solve the problem, I can't delete the key too.
    Someone can help me?

    Hi,
in the previous post I leave out that everything starts with the automatic update.
The update of Adobe Acrobat didn't finalize and leave me a message like before I reported. Then I tried to uninstall AR 9 and the process still finalized with error but now, maybe I could solve the problem...I uninstall the program with Revo uninstaller and download the new release of Adobe Reader 10, that maybe do not use the registry key corrupted like the update of AR 9 did.
So, I still have the problem in the registry probably but I could install Adobe Reader.
I think I can leave the key in the registry without any problem, I hope it doesn't affect any program or application.
    Thank you anyway

  • Partition changed on computer, cannot install Adobe Reader 9

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo computer that had a quirk from the factory.  It was partitioned into two drives, a C drive and a much larger D drive.  I started running out of space on the C drive, so the tech wonks at Lenovo walked me through how to eliminate the D partition so that C would now get all the remaining space on the computer.  So now I have only a C drive.  However, there are some holdovers (files or programs) on my computer that still must be operating with D drive addresses, and I don't know how in the world to fix this.  Apparently the Adobe installer must somehow have a D address, because I have been trying to upgrade from Adobe reader 8 to Adobe reader 9.  Problem is, when I try to install Adobe reader 9 I get an error message saying that there is no such address (D).  I have tried to completely remove the Adobe Installer, and yet it keeps coming back with the error message about the wrong drive.  I am also starting to get messages from my personal firewall that Adobe reader should be upgraded, but I can't upgrade it under current conditions.
If anyone can tell me how to fix this address issue, like going into the computer and changing all the old D addresses to C, since there is now no D drive, I would appreciate it.

After lots of searching I found a fix.  It was a problem with some wrong drive paths listed among several hot keys, after the D drive partition was removed on my computer.  A few drive paths retained the D address, and as a consequence Adobe and a few other programs would not update.
Anyway, it was a matter of getting the correct hotkeys within the registry, and following instructions on how to change the addresses that were still D drive.  After completing the changes, everything was back to normal.  I was able to download Adobe Reader 9.
Thanks for your help.  Luckily, there was no need to remove and reinstall the OS.
