My windows xp pro os freezes up every time I attempt to access itunes store

Hello iworld people, anyone out their having problems trying to access the itunes store, my operating system is Windows XP Pro, I can load and sync music no problem from cd's but I cannot access the itunes store my computer freezes up every time and I have to power down and re-start. Can any one offer any suggestions.
Thanks for your time and consideration.

XP is an older OS.  My work PC, just before I re-imaged it to 7, would randomly lock up on "cmd-E" to open a file explorer, forcing a shutdown.  XP was better than 2000 and 95, but needs re-build more often than 7.

  • Keep getting "Account Locked" message every time I try to access iTunes.

Every time I attempt to access iTunes from my iPod Touch, I get a box popup telling me my account has been locked.
    This is getting really annoying.
I have a Droid 2 and never have account problems like this.  What is up with Apples ignorance on this issue?  Hundreds of people have posted or responded to posts about this problem, yet Apple has no comment.
Also...why doesn't this web site scale to the iPod or iPhone?  Microfiche website does...but not this one???

No one from Apple responds to or comments about this issue on the iTunes discussion thread.  So I posted it here.  If they move it, then I know they are reading these thigs and simply choosing to ignore them.
The Apple Support Communities web site does not scale to the iPod or iPhone.  You would think that Apple would set the site up to recognize when a person is accessing via a mobile device and scale it accordingly.  Many website do that, why not this one?

  • ITunes crashes every time I try to access the store

Every time I try to access the iTunes store in the iTunes app it crashes. I am running Win 7 Home edition and the latest iTunes (I even uninstalled and reinstalled). Not only that but the albums that I purchased from the store only about 1/2 of the songs play. The other half give the message that I am not authorized to play the song. How can I be authorized for only half of the songs? And it happens on every album purchased from the iTunes store. (I tried everything in this support article iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases - Apple Support)

    Greetings donm_hawaii,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with iTunes for Windows issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
iTunes for Windows: System restarts, blue screen, or quits unexpectedly when accessing iTunes Store
When accessing the iTunes Store on Windows, your computer may restart or display a blue screen (Windows XP), or iTunes may quit unexpectedly (Windows Vista). You might also have issues opening iTunes if it is configured to open to the iTunes Store.
This issue is caused by outdated drivers for ATI Radeon 2400 series video cards.
Note: Some companies other than ATI may have manufactured video cards based upon the design of the ATI Radeon 2400 series.
A driver is a piece of software that allows your operating system to communicate with a piece of hardware. Your PC consists of many hardware components, such as your hard disk, optical drive (CD or DVD drive), USB card, and video card. All built-in and external devices require drivers to communicate with your operating system.
When iTunes is accessing the iTunes Store, it relies upon your video card driver to display certain animation and graphics within the iTunes Store. This can trigger an issue which is fixed in newer versions of your video card drivers.
To find out what video card and version you have:
Right-click My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista) and choose Manage.
Click Device Manager in the list on the left of the Computer Management window.
Click the plus sign next to Display Adapters in the list on the right.
Right-click the video card and choose Properties.
Take note of the name of the device.
Click the Driver tab for more details.
If there are multiple video card entries, repeat steps 4-6 for each entry.
For each driver listed, check the manufacturer's website to see if there is an updated version available. For more information on how to update drivers, follow Updating the drivers on your Windows PC.
If your drivers are the most up-to-date versions, from your computer manufacturer or video card manufacturer, you should consider installing the most updated driver from ATI.
    Learn more
This is different than the issue described in What to do when Windows displays a blue screen error message or restarts when syncing the iPhone or iPod touch. The similarity is due to both issues being related to outdated drivers and driver conflicts.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Bobby_D

  • Updated to iTunes 12.1, now iTunes crashes every time it attempts to access the internet through our internal proxy - cannot access store!

    Hi,
Does anybody have any experience of using iTunes with a web filtering proxy? My home is using the Sophos UTM home edition to provide edge antivirus and content filtering. More information available here: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-utm-home-edition.aspx
The proxy settings for the computer is set to use an automatic configuration script "WPAD" and the settings are locked by group policy and cannot be disabled or changed.
Now here's the problem, when launching iTunes, the iTunes prompts me to enter login details for the HTTPS proxy. That's all well and good, so I enter the login details and hit okay. But when I go to the store tab, iTunes crashes with javascriptcore.dll. This makes sense because a WPAD proxy configuration file is pretty much JavaScript code. But this should not happen, as now I cannot access the iTunes store.
Prior to iTunes 12.1, iTunes would sometimes freeze when attempting to access the store but it would eventually work.
The proxy logs are not showing that any iTunes requests were blocked, dropped or otherwise rejected.
Does anybody have any suggestions to get this to work again or at least work around the issue?
NOTE: Disabling the proxy is not an option because the proxy settings on the Windows computers are locked through group policy. I can however, edit the WPAD proxy configuration file and add exceptions to the proxy but I don't know where to start!
I will also post this on the Sophos UTM support forums.
    Thanks in advance.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • My mid 2010 macbook pro keeps freezing/crashing every time I try and play a game. Any help?

Every time I try and play either WoW or The Sims, my mac goes to black screen, or black screen and repeating last second of noise it was playing. I haven't upgraded to Lion and am still using Snow Leopard(??). I am by no means the most tech savvy girl in the world, but would appreciate any help, as this is driving me insane!! Thanks!!!

I don't know if it would help, but this is all the whoo haa from the last panic report thing. (about 5ish minutes ago)
I don't really know what any of it means, but if someone could help me decipher and tell me if there's anything I can do, I would be super grateful. (before I go into apple, that is)

  • How do I change the settings for when a password must be entered? I currently have to submit every time itunes opens, every time I want to access the store etc!??

Every time I open itunes I have to put in my password, I also have to enter my password to access the store, my account etc even though I have already entered it on openening the programme - it is extremely annoying!! I'm sure there must be a way to change the password settings but I can't seem to find how! Any help would be much appreciated!

Check the settings in Gmail for whether each email opens in a new tab or the same tab.

  • Unknown error -3212 when attempting to access iTunes Store (Windows 7)

This apparently is a firewall problem. I'm running Norton 360 on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. I managed to solve the problem by going into Security>Manage Firewall>Program Rules, scrolling down to iTunes and setting the the Access level. Apparently Norton 360 occasionally (not always?) resets itself to "Auto" when a new iTunes update is installed. I reset it to "Allow" and access to the iTunes Store is restored.

    Hello there,

  • TS1424 Every time when I open the iTunes store, it's always not responding. What do I do to make it stop?

Every time I open iTunes, and I go to the store, it always says "iTunes has stopped working." So what do I do to make it work normal again?

    Hi caitlin02,
If you are having issues with an iTunes update error message, you may want to double-check that you are running iTunes 11.1.2:

  • When using my iPhone (i5) at home with wi-fi i get an error every time I attempt to access google, I also get gmail errors. What is going on?

When at home using my wi-fi connection, anytime I try to connect to google I get an error that says "You attempted to reach google.com, but instead you reached a server identifying itself as icloud.com"
I also get prompted for my gmail password and regardless of what I put in it won't accept it, and I still get mail.
This only happens on my home wi-fi.
Does anyone know what's going on

Sounds like a reboot of your router is what you should try.
