My wired keyboard will not work

Wired aluminum Apple keyboard with number pad is not working. When I forced a restart it started looking for a Bluetooth keyboard and would not stop. Got that to stop but keyboard does not work. Tried shutting down, unplugging everything and starting again. Still nothing.

Check another keyboard or buy a new one. They only cost $50 USD.

  • Touchsmart 520-1047c Mouse and Keyboard will not work after sleep mode

I have an issue which I need some help with. When my computer goes to sleep the wireless mouse and keyboard will not work unless I restart, however each one will wake the system up but will not operate after that. I have tried just making the display go to sleep, both go to sleep but that makes no difference same issue occurs. The only work around I have found is going into the power settings and turning the sleep mode off for booth the computer and display. This does not solve the problem it just masks it. New batteries, unplugged and replugged the dongle, updated the bios and all drivers. Don't know what else to try. Anybody know how to fix this? Thank you in advance for your help.

My Macbook Pro keyboard and USB keyboard will not work.  However, the trackpad and USB mouse will work.  Any help?
This is quite frustrating, since it randomly occured as I was browsing the web.  It seemed to happen out of nowhere.  I cannot login to my user account because I cannot type my password.
    Any help will be appreciated.

If you have another Mac, boot the non-working one into Target Disk Mode (holding down "T" at startup). Hook up the two Macs via a Firewire cable. The non-working one will mount on the other Mac as an external Firewire HD.
Next, download the 10.5.6 Combo update from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate .html
Run it. When it asks you for a destination, choose the other Mac that was mounted via Firewire. When it's done, unmount the computer and restart it. The keyboard and mouse should work now.

  • Keyboard will not work

My keyboard will not work. Last night I was using my computer and my battery died so I plugged it in and went to bed. This morning I turn my computer on and my login page appears but my keyboard and mouse will not work.

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    3. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
*Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

  • New Keyboard Will Not Work for Power On Key Combinations

I have a early 2006 model iMac with 20" display. I had to purchase a new keyboard and bought one of the new wired tactile Apple keyboards. I've upgraded to Leopard and also have the most current keyboard update to support this keyboard. Tonight I got into a situation where I needed to boot my machine holding down the "Option" key in order to select a startup partition. It did not work. I finally went and got an old keyboard off another Mac, plugged it into my iMac and powered the machine up holding the option key. They screen appeared allowing me to select the partition and I was off and running. What I have noticed is the new keyboard will not allow me to perform any of the startup key combinations like the ones for booting from a CD, or ejecting a disk, etc. Is there some driver or something I'm missing? • Case with Keyboard Will Not Work on my HP 7"1800 Android Tablet

I baught a HP 7" 1800 android  tablet and I resently baught a case with a keyboard and I can not get it to work. I have tryed every thing that I know to get it to work but it will not work! I would like to know how to get this keyboard in my case to work? Has anyone got any sugestions?

Is the keyboard using a cable or BlueTooth?  If a cable, it will not work. If using BlueTooth, I would re-read the instructions provided with the keyboard. 1. Be sure the keyboard is compatible with Android.  This should be stated in the instructions somewhere. 2. Put the keyboard into "pairing mode" per the instructions.  This usually requires specific button presses. 3. Be sure BlueTooth is turned on in your tablet, and you have told it to "Scan for new devices" while the keyboard is in pairing mode. I have successfully used an old Palm Inc. BlueTooth keyboard with many HP tablets. WyreNut

  • Software Update 7.0.1 says my Kaspersky URL adviser and keyboard will not work? Any way to avoid this?

I get prompted to do a software update, when I start it I get a message saying my Kaspersky add on will not work and be disabled until they are compatible. The URL adviser and keyboard. Is there a way around this? I don't want anything that affects my anti virus.

First off, updating Firefox won't affect the anti-virus part of Kaspersky, only a couple Kaspersky add-ons for Firefox. Second, check with Kaspersky to find out if or when they're going to have compatible Firefox extensions ready for Firefox 7.

  • Can not install windows 7 pro using boot camp as mouse and keyboard will not work Help please

I have a new iMac and trying to install Windows 7 Pro using boot camp. I have reached the stage of starting to load windows from the DVD then discovered the mouse and the keyboards not working so I could not interact with windows installation.

Open, if not so already, the Windows formatter. Identify the BC Windows partition. It will be the one listed with the proper size you created and/or will be labeled as a C: drive. Be careful you select the right one or you may be corrupting the entire drive.
    Format the partition as NTFS.

  • Some of my keys on my keyboard will not work. For example, if I type in an n it becomes like this n/. Also my zero button will not work. How should I fix this?

    How do I fix

    Fast answers:
    1. Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM and SMC. Doesn't usually 'cure' keyboard problems you report, but it costs nothing and only takes a few minutes.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3819550?start=0&tstart=0
    2. Try plugging in a USB keyboard. Doesn't absolutely have to be a Mac keyboard. A PC keyboard will work for a test. If the typing problem does not occur with the USB keyboard, you have a temporary solution until you can arrange to visit a repair facility.
    3. If your MacBook is older and has a user-removable battery, shut down the computer, remove the battery, and examine it for signs of 'bulging' or swelling. Then connect the computer to the Magsafe power supply, without reinstalling the battery, and turn it back on. If the keyboard problem has gone away, it was likely caused by a swelling battery.

  • Keyboard will not work properly

Only some keys function properly. No alphabet keys works and only 5 number keys. Mute works, volume does not. Scroll arrows do not work, but caps lock does, and so on. Late 2008 MBPro

Sounds like you have a bad keyboard or keyboard cable or a bad connection between that cable and the logic board. It does not sound as though your problem could be software-based.
If you have access to an external USB keyboard you could plug in and test with, that should tell the tale. If it works OK, you have a hardware problem.

  • After installing Lion my keyboard will not work at all and it will not recognize my wi-fi connection at times. Any ideas for a solution to this problem?

It will not let me type anything now and the wi-fi connection is not recognized at times! Please help!! This only happened after I downloaded Lion.

Now that you have restored it to Apple software, we can help - no kidding.
If WiFi is grayed out (tap Settings first) then you will not be able to select WiFi. See this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
If you can select WiFi, your touch will then detect WiFi networks that are within range. Networks that are protected by encryption will display with a closed lock. Open networks will have an open lock. Networks are displayed by strongest signal to weakest signal.
Closed/locked networks require a password or WEP key to join. Open networks often require that you agree to terms and conditions for that network. This usually occurs with a Safari-like screen that appears 15-30 seconds after you tap on the network. Until you go through that screen, it might look like you are connected but you are not.

  • Updated to iOS 7 with kensington keyboard, Bluetooth keyboard will not work, help

I Made the mistake of updating and now my Bluetooth kensington keyboard purchased with ipad won't work. Anybody know a fix?

    Reset Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.
     Cheers, Tom
