My wireless connection keeps shutting off in Mavericks
Is there a workaround that a layman can do?
Hi, JSerembe.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router and Mac can resolve the issue. However, try the steps in the article below to troubleshoot the Wi-Fi issue with your MacBook.

Also, see the article below to make sure the router setting have been optimized for performance.

Why does my wireless keyboard keep shutting off?
Why does my wireless keyboard keep shutting off?
It is not the batteries.More experience leads me to believe the problem is with the new iMac. If I get the network going by turning AirPort Extreme power off, then on, I see a good signal at my iMac. Experience shows the network drops off after several hours. But yesterday I turned the iMac off, and the network remainded up (I could see it on my iPhone and iPad) throughout the night. That's the first time that has happened since I got the new iMac. Never had this issue with the old machine. I transferred all file to the new machine from a Time Machine backup that was up-to-date. Am working with Apple support. They had me do a re-boot of the AirPort and will call back tomorrow AM to learn it did not solve the problem, but turning off the iMac does. Darn.

Hello JD_NINJA,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Error 9006 when restoring your iOS device indicates that there is security software on your computer which is preventing connection to the Apple server or your device. To troubleshoot this issue please follow the directions below.
Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can stop your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't blocking a connection to the Apple servers.

My iMac (2007) keeps shutting off when in Full Screen mode (DVD, iTunes Visualizer, etc.) This only happens when I have an external monitor hooked up HDMI. Help?
Try using another connection such as VGA or DVI to see if the problem repeats itself.

My wireless connection keeps failing.
My wireless connection keeps failing. I turn off the wireless and it resets and works however it is temporary. Any suggestions. I bought my Airport Extreme 11/2012
Hey there Chrismcknz,
It sounds like your Wi-Fi connection from your Airport is dropping and when power cycled works for a very short period of time before stopping again. I would next try a hard reset, and test the issue. Then if needed reset it to factory default and test again. The following article explains what the resets do, and how to do them:
Resetting an AirPort base station FAQ
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728
Hard reset: Resets the base station back to an unconfigured state, but retains the last saved configuration and any profiles so you can restore your base station from previous settings.
Factory default reset: The same as a hard reset but also removes any saved configurations or profiles.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

my ipod keeps shutting off when I plug it in to my computer to sync with itunes. how do I fix this?
With the iPod still connected, try resetting it by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Are you running Yosemite? 10.10.X?
If so this is a current issue in Yosemite:

My 1st generation Time Capsule/2007 keeps shutting off and disconnecting from internet? What could be the problem? How long do the Time Capsules usually last?
That it is still working is miraclous.. most have died.. lots started flaking out at 18months to 2years..
See deadtimecapsule.org
The few that remained now seem to have reached EOL.. you can repair if you have some skills.. fairly cheaply.
But it is well and truly time to replace.

Mac Pro keeps shutting off randomly
Hey guys,
My Macbook Pro keeps shutting off randomly. Its been doing it for a few months now and I was finally able to restore it to factory settings to see if that would fix the problem but it hasnt. Sometimes it will shut off every five minutes, other times it will be maybe once an hour. I've noticed that it is more likely to shut off when I'm visiting youtube or watching a video/viewing a site with lots of pictures.
By "shutting off" I mean that the screen goes black and I have to hold down the power button until it completely turns off and then restart it.
When I turn my computer back on it sometimes has a reason for the problem, which I copied and pasted below:

some 15-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pros are known to have a defect in their NVIDIA GPUs. Given the symptoms which you’d described, yours might have that defect also. Apple had a gratis servicing program for three years from the MacBook Pro’s date of purchase; they still offer the servicing, but it is no longer guaranteed to be gratis. I’d recommend that you make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service center, to have them run their Video System Test on your MacBook Pro, which will confirm whether or not its NVIDIA GPU has the defect. -
I was told that all of the Security USB connections was shut off in the BIOS. The only controls for this PC is USB ports for the mouse and keyboard control ect. How can I get into the bios without the keyboard and mouse in operation? There is no other way to control this model computer. The only connections on this PC is USB connections only. Again If I can, somehow get get into the BIOS I can turn the Security USB connections on as they should be.
Hi Big_Dave,Yes the ALL security USBs in the Bios are in fact shut off. I saw it done in front of me.The person was trying to install Windows 7 but the usbs in the bios stopped workingeach time he tried the install the software. He thought that shutting off the securityUSB in bios would stop the security only and allow windows to be installed. He thensaw that all the security USBs in bios had completely shut down the usb connectionscompletely. I didn't know that is what he actually done until he went through with meand told me everything that he had done step for step with me. Then it dawned onme that was in fact what I saw him do. Anyway the Security USBs are all shut off.Money is hard to come by here so it will remain disabled until someone can walk methrough getting it turned on somehow without working usb connections. I refurb.laptops but not PC desktops like this one. This is new to me also. I think I will stick torebuilding laptops after we figure out how to get into the back door or find a way tohelp[ him fix this problem if I can. Anyway thank you for your input into this problem.

Have iPod Nano Shuffle 6th Gen. I purchased it when I had Windows Vista. I have since upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate . Was fine with Vista. Now, it keeps shutting off during the song, 3 or 4 times. Have to press power button and then arrow to restart song. I went to my iTunes and ran diagnostics. Passed all until the end. The last test had a red dot failure. It said no iPod, iPhone, or iPad found. Does someone know how I can correct the problem? iTunes is always updating, so I am current.

Why is it that my iMovie app keeps shutting off randomly! I'm trying to export my movie and it shuts down each time it's a 1/4 of the way through downloading! Ah! Please help.
I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?
I am running Yosemitie on a iMac.

Why does my MacBook Pro keep shutting off while I'm using it with full battery?
My Battery is 100% full and it keeps shutting off randomly, how can I fix this?
This is something you should log. Whenever your machine shuts off randomly, make a note of the time and what you were doing on your machine at the time. You may find that the shut downs aren't random at all. I had a similar problem with "random" shutdowns, and discovered that there was a power supply issue.
Please post here with your results.
