My Wireless J6450 printer repeatedly loses connection to my network & MacBook Pro running OS10.7.2

I previously had successfully set up my OfficeJet J6450 to operate on my wireless home network using an Apple Time Capsule.  Now that I've upgraded to Tiger (OS 10.7.2) the printer still recognizes the named network, but keeps losing connectivity and requiring the re-entry of WPA code to re-connect.    I can print one or two documents in the next couple of minutes and then connectivity is lost!  Again!  and Again!

So does the printer actually loose connectivity and you have to re-connect at the printer front panel or does the Mac loose track of it?
If the latter, let's reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

I have an Epson printer on a Wifi network. Windows 7 desktop is running the network, and my wife's HP Win 7 laptop prints to it just fine. My MacBook Pro running Yosemite won't detect it, and I do have the latest driver installed. I didn't have a problem when I had a Canon Pixma on the network, but when I replaced it with the Epson nothing seems to work. I go to add a printer to the queue and only the FAX function of the printer shows up - not the WS-4530 print function. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?  Please??? :-)

    Hi Kelly,
As someone who has to print from my Mac to a networked printer at home all the time, I can certainly understand how frustrating it must be to have that fail to perform as expected. Let's see if we can get you up and running.

Assuming this means the TV was not detected in any of these versions, this would not be a Snow Leopard installation or setup issue. I think that is what sig is trying to tell you.
If this is true, you might want to post in the MacBook forums to see if anyone has a similar issue. It would be a good idea to post the model number of your Toshiba if you do so, as this might be relevant. Otherwise, it sounds like the problem is in the TV, since the MacBook works with other displays.

Can't connect external projector to MacBook Pro running Windows7. Any suggestions?

Did you try a cable? The point is you did not provide any information about: what projector, how you are trying to connect, what happens when you try, error messages if any, does an external monitor work, what computer you have, what OS, etc.

  • Why do I lose connection on a 2010 MacBook Pro

My 2010 MacBook Pro has started dropping its connection. Every other wireless device I have does not lose connection, but the Mac does. I have to reset the router several times a day. I have tried 2 new routers (rented from ISP, gigaset router) and the firmware is up to date. My signal is good and I don't know where else to look. It looks like the 2011 MBP has had connection problems, but I have had this laptop since Jan 2010 and have not had any problems until recently (last month). I would think it was interference from another wifi in the neighborhood, but as I said, my other wireless devices do not lose connection.

    Hey mate!
If your signature is anything to go by, I would definitely recommend updating if you're still at 10.6.2 (even though you said the Firmware was up to date.)
There are a few things to consider.
    1. Interference, unlikely to be the issue if it's been working fine up until recently, and you haven't changed anything in your home/office.
    2. Change the Service Order: Go to System Preferences > Network > Unlock the window > Go to the 'cog wheel' > Set Service Order > Make sure Airport is at the very top. When completed, hit 'Done' and 'Apply' and test.
    3. What password encryption are you using? Mac OS has a reknown disliking for WEP, so if possible and it isn't already, set your password encryption to WPA2 (router settings, ISP may need to assist you)
    4. If that isn't working, create a new location from the top of the network window, once this is done, repeat step 2 to be sure Airport is the primary service, make sure to hit 'Apply' when done.
If that is still happening, we need to determine whether the issue is still Software/Hardware, find your Mac OS Install DVD and load up to it by holding 'C' on the startup chime.
Once booted, continue until you see 'Utilities' on the top task bar, click that and open Network Utility. Once that is open, go to Ping, type in "74.125.224.82" which is the IP address for www.google.com
Set to unlimited pings and see when/if the connection drops out.
Let us know how you go,
    Regards,
    Zet.

  • LeapFrog Connect quits unexpectedly on MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1

We have owned a LeapPad 2 for nearly a year now. LeapFrog Connect worked fine on my original MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. However, when trying to open on my new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1 I continued to get an error message as below:
Nothing seemed to work I couldn't find an answer on the boards at all. I finally found a solution after much trial and error.
Run the LeapFrog utility program found here. (This is a safe download from the leapfrog site itself).
Select the option "Uninstall LeapFrog Connect"
Select "Complete...like it was never there."
When the uninstall is complete restart your MBP.
Run 'permissions repair function' in Disk Utility.
Select your startup disk, click the 'First Aid' tab, and then click 'Repair Disk Permissions.'
NOTE: Disk Utility will reset any files and folders with incorrect settings.
    Reinstall LeapFrog from leappad.com/install.
Plug your LeapPad 2 into the USB slot on your MBP and open LeapFrog Connect.

  • MacBook and Wireless Epson Printer won't connect anymore?

I have a MacBook Pro running Lion OSX. I also have an Epson Stylus NX430. I had it connected to my laptop wirelessly and it worked fine. I went home for spring break and when I came back, I tried printing something, and my computer said that my printer was not connected. I checked the wireless settings on the printer and they were all correct. I checked my wifi settings on my computer and they were also correct. I couldn't get it to work so I unistalled the printer from the computer and tried reinstalling it. When I went to add wireless printers, my computer still didn't recognize the printer. Now I have to use a USB cable to print. How to I get my computer to recognize my wireless printer again?

Forgetting the Network didn't work.  It's dong the same thing.
So if it's a router problem, what can we do?
Two devices work, and two don't...I just don't understand why.
Could it be that too many people have logged into our wireless and now it's out of IP's? Could we ask people who have previously logged into our internet to delete it completely? I don't know if that would free anything up?

  • My Macbook Pro running Lion 10.7 will no longer connect to either my HP or Epson printers. Both printers report that they are connected to the correct wireless network and until 2 weeks ago work perfectly.

My Macbook pro running Lion 10.7 will not connect via a wireless network to either of my printers, Epson and HP. Both printers report an excellent connection to the correct network. The Macbook reports "printer not found"
Until 2 weeks ago all worked well. Both printers makes me think some setting in the computer must have changed.
    Any suggestions?

  • IPad3 loses connection to home network and same happens to laptops.

I purchased the new IPad a week ago. Since then, I often lose connection to home network. Cannot join network unless I power off and on the modem/router. This also hapens every morning. The same is now happening with our  wireless laptops.  Never had any problems all these years until the iPad was introduced to our network. Our Internet provider confirmed that modem/router protocols were set per advice from Apple Support and they did additional tweaking but problem persists. I am thinking of getting a new modem and router but wonder if it is worth it. Has anyone had similar problems where their other devices are having the same connection issues as the iPad? Thanks.

  • Having network printer connection problems using a Macbook Pro

I hope a "greater mind" can suggest a solution to the following problem:
Up until 2 days ago, I was successfully connected to the network printer at my office using both my Macbook Pro at work and at home (both wirelessly, OS 10.6.8). From yesterday, however, I now only receive the following message when I send a file for printing: "network host (and then its IP address) is busy. Will try again in 10 seconds."
All right, my system admin. advised me to re-install the printer on both computers.  I did. In printer set-up, 1) Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD; 2) Address: the IP address of the printer; 3) Queue: secinmac. This is the queue name specifically for Mac use and given to us by the company who installed our network printer; 4) Name: we use the printer's IP address; 5) Location: left blank; 6) Print Using: Generic PCL Laser Printer. Further for 6), in the "installable options" dialog box, I click "Duplexer". Then, finally, I click "ADD". The printer is added.
However, when I try to print a file, I continue to get the "busy" message.  The file spools for about 3%, and then the "busy message" appears, and I cannot print.  You can imagine how frustrating this is when the problem has arisen from one day to the next!  A colleague who also uses a MacBook Pro sent a file to print on the network printer today, and he had no problems!  I, however, have no success !
Any ideas that can help me?  Thanks, in advance!

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Yes, I tried this when I was reading a bit of Apple communities history on this matter, and it did not work.  I also tried this, and then rebooted my Mac, but to no avail!  While I was at the office today, my system admin also logged into our network and tried to get something to print on his Mac, but he now has the same problem as I do.
He gets the "busy message", too !
I'll try to see if I can get a solution from APPLE by going through my support service agreement.....From reading the history on this issue, I would have thought that APPLE would have worked on this to come up with a fix by now...!
Thank you again for your suggestion!  Cheers.

Yes, I could connect them by ethernet if all I wanted to do was transfer files, but I would like to network them so I could use wireless internet.  The machines are not always so close together, I did that to simplify the testing.  With the very slow transfer speeds I am reluctant to move ahead with the internet step.

  • I am getting a printer message "on hold, Authentication required" when directly connected (USB) to any printer I try to install to my MacBook Pro.  Any ideas?

I am having trouble with printing from my MacBook Pro.  After succesfully installing a printer, sending a print job results in a alert in the print que that says "on hold  Authentication Required"
I am fairly new to Mac and have not the slightest clue what I am doing wrong.  Please help!
    Thanks, Slojon

After upgrading to OSX Mountain Lion on one of our home computers and having no difficulty with printer access for months, after a glitch involving loss of power, suddenly "On hold (authentication required)" started showing up.
When I deleted the printer and then tried to add it back using the default listing for the printer I got the message "Unable to download the software from the server at this time."  I felt I was going backwards.  The whole situation was maddening for a couple of days.
    Details:
Older G5 Desktop Mac running OSX Snow Leopard wth an HP Color LaserJet 2550 attached via USB.
Early 2011 13" MacBook Pro running OSX Mountain Lion.
    Airport WiFi network.
This is really two problems: how to add a printer successfully and how to print without authentication.
    How to add a printer
Do not use the default listing for adding the printer that shows up in the popup menu, instead use the generic "Add printer" command, then select the printer and printer type from the secondary menu that comes up.  This worked fine for me.
How to avoid the "Authentication required"
    Software update on both machines.
Reset printing system (Option & minus "-" key) on both systems.
Add the printer back to the server (older G5 Mac in my case) system.
Ensure that both the printer sharing is selected for the printer and …
… that printer sharing is turned on globally in the Sharing System Preferences
Add the printer back to the client system
I was also able to work this through the CUPS system described in other posts (http://localhost:631) but I always prefer to let Mac OSX handle the UNIX details since I have greater confidence I won't be inadvertantly messing something up.

  • How do I get my macmini running Mountain Lion to see my Canon USB printer connected to my Airport Extreme? I have a macbook pro running leopard and that works fine. The versions of airport utility are different and I can't even see the printer from new 1

I am having trouble seeing my usb printer from my second gen airport extreme using the newest version of airport utility under Mountain Lion. UGH! And while I can see and network to my Canon IP5000 from my macbook pro running leopard, I can't from my new macmini running Mountain Lion. Any help would be appreciated in configuring my macmini so it can see the Canon IP5000 on the airport extreme. Don't want to "share" the printer from the laptop because that would be a cludge. Thanks ahead

I solved this one based on another post. Turned out I needed the snow leopard IP5000 driver. I had just copied over the leopard driver (I had saved my .dmg file) and installed that but it didn't work. So I downloaded the latest driver which turned out to be for snow leopard and I am guessing since it is 64bit that is why it worked and the leopard driver didn't. Anyway, I also had to hook the printer up via usb to the mac mini to get it to work locally before the O/S would see it over Bonjour via the airport extreme.
