My wireless keyboard is typing the wrong characters?

My wireless keyboard is typing the wrong characters and as a result I cannot log into my profile and check the system preferences?

That mapping is determined by the settings of your computer.  Go to system prefs/keyboard/input sources and make sure that only US is present on the list (or whatever language you normally use).

  • My Apple Wireless Keyboard keeps typing the letter x.

The wireless keyboard keeps on typing the letter x, so I tried to switch keyboards, which fixed it. The wireless keyboard has no exterior damage, but pressing the x key does absolutely nothing. I'm wondering how I can fix this problem.

presssing the x key one and off may fix it but at the end of the day the keyboard'x swich may just be broken and may never come around

  • My wireless keyboard is generating the wrong character for one of the keys.  Any ideas how to fix?

My wire2ess key board is generating a 2 as you can see in the word wire2ess.  Any idea how to fix?

Make sure that there is no entry in system prefs/language & text/text/symbol and text substitution which causes this.
    Try another keyboard.

  • TS3048 I changed the battery in my wireless keyboard and checked the batteries to make sure that they work.  When I returned to my computer (the computer was already on) the keyboard would not work, no response at all.  What do I do?

I changed the battery in my wireless keyboard and checked the batteries to make sure that they are good, I left the computer on while I changed the batteries. When I returned to the computer, the computer does not acknowledge the keyboard so I can't do any diagnostics. What do I do?

Hold the power key on the keyboard down for 5 secs to power off,  tap the power button once to start.   It should connect automatically.

I would think you'd have to change the language to British English to get the pound sign. THat or turn off your wireless keyboard and get the pound sign from the on screen keyboard, then turn your wireless board back on.

I typed the wrong email address into my itunes account.  Now I cannot retrieve my verification email.  How do I fix this problem?

This has nothing  to do with itunes U.  You may want to post in a more appropriate forum.
    Try contacting itunes support:

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.
You should be able to change that address at My Apple ID

  • Ipad doesn't recognise wireless keyboard apart from the function keys this has only just occurred . Previously no issue at all

Ipad 2 doesn't recognise wireless keyboard apart from the function keys this has only just occurred . Previously no issue at all.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • IPad will no longer sync with desktop Outlook programs.  Wireless keyboard cannot find the iPad.  Cannot reset the iPad.  What is wrong?

This problem developed in mid December. the synching worked perfectly on my 18 month old iPad 2 until then.  Now the iPad will not sink my calendar, contacts and notes from my desktop Outlook program.  It does seem to sync my pictures. the wireless keyboard had no problem recognizing the iPad until mid-December.  I tried to reset the iPad by pressing the on off and home button concurrently.  The iPad logo appeared but the iPad did not reset.  Instead, my full configuration on the iPad along with all of my apps simply reappeared.  I am at a loss as to what happened and what to do about it.

Your post indicates iOS 4.3 which is now quite old.  I am going to suggest restoring your iPad, which, among other things, will update your iOS to the current version.
I recommend restoring your iPad.  Make sure you have the current version of iTunes on your computer (currently 11.0.1).  Plug your iPad into your computer, let it sync, then press "Restore" on the right side when the summary page of the iPad is displayed in iTuens' display.

  • Does anyone else (or has anyone else) had an issue with their wireless keyboard connecting via the Bluetooth?

The first day I got it, it was fine. Then when I woke up the next day which was less than 12 hours after hooking it up, it wouldn't connect..it let me type a couple of characters to my password, but then literally stopped. My trackpad has yet to have any issues whatsoever. Even during the keyboard malfunctioning it's been fine. In order to get the keyboard to work, I have to log into the guest account, let it be discovered, then pair it. It as now happened on 4 different days, more times than that, though. I've only had it for just over a week. I don't think there's a problem with the computer just because the trackpad is fine. The keyboard blinks that little green light when it's having this issue, too. As you know, it's normally off. Today I tried to log in for the first time and it did the same thing as the first day. It let me type a few characters, then stopped and wouldn't connect. This time, though, when I went into the guest account to let it be discovered it wouldn't let me type the numeric code to pair it. I had to hold down my power button to restart it because I was logged in on another user and it wouldn't let me restart it the normal way without typing the admin username/password...which I obviously couldn't do seeing as how I didn't have a keyboard. Does anyone else think this is a faulty keyboard I need to return? Or is this unfortunately how it works...or what? Help please...
I was at the Apple Store that week 5 times for a messed up phone that they replaced with a total of 4 replacement phones because of different issues the ones they gave me had and driving there that much almost made me say screw it to the iPhone...now I buy this very expensive iMac spending 2 grand and this happens....I'm so mad I am thinking of just returning it and giving up on Apple altogether which Idon't WANT to do...but with all I've dealt with in a 2 week period with the iPhone and now this...oh and I bought a $100 cell phone case I had to replace because it wasn't working correctly. So you see, I am beyond frustartee over Apple.....if anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it. With all of my problems I've had, you'd think they want to do more than apologize for my inconvenience. Even the techs that helped me said it was ridiculous I've had so many issues and now I'm just adding to the list..

    Try this:
Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse.  ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse.  Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse.  It should work normally now.

  • "Sticky" keys on apple's wireless keyboard when typing on my ipad.

I am using apple's wireless keyboard on my ipad. It has worked fine for four months but then last night the keys got "sticky", typing any letter I'm hitting continually until I hit escape. Does anyone know how to set it back to normal typing?
The on screen keyboard works fine (I'm using it now), but when i switch to the wireless this happens:
    I   cannnnn't't't    tttttyppeeeeeeee      noormallyyyyyyy...............
I tried changing batteries but that didn't help either. Would really appreciate comments/help!!

Do you have a computer with Bluetooth that you can test the keyboard with?
Have you tried going into Settings on the iPad and under Bluetooth tried forgetting the device? You should see the keyboard listed as a device. Pressing the arrow in the blue circle should present an option to forget the device.

  • Wireless keyboard only typing numbers

    Hey community,
My wireless keyboard is only typing numbers and can delete those. I presume there is a num lock that have been activated, but I have no idea on how to turn it off.
    Help please.
    Nick

Though I'm using the short Apple keyboard with my iPad right now with no problems (nor when writing an email just a few moments ago), when I goto post comments on some websites, I then get the doubling.
My 'pad is version 3, its IOS is up-to-date 6.1.3, and the keyboard is model 1314 (bought in 2009 for use with an old, hand-me-down, Mac Mini). Batteries are fresh, just installed today, in case that was the problem -- alas, no.
Since the keyboard works flawlessly on this site, works fine with numerous  apps including WikiPedia, Final Draft Writer, Notes, and FileMaker Go, but does not work periodically on all the differnt sites I run to, I must conclude that the problem is not with either the iPad or the keyboard.
    I would suggest the following:
    a) Install fresh batteries to the keyboard
    b) Fully charge the iPad
    c) Turn off any other Bluetooth toy in the neighborhood -- just in case
    d) Keep a detailed list of what sites and apps do or do not work with the combination
    e) Try using the keyboard with a friend's 'Pad, Macs or PC's (yes, you can use the keyboard with a non-Apple system)
I'd run to the Apple Genius only as very last resort.
