My wireless keyboard keeps losing connection but this is random

after upgrading to mavericks i can log on to the operting system but sometimes this can happen right after log on or this might take hours or a few days. my keybpard will just stop working.
this is a new keybpard only 1 month old the apple wireless keyboard. and in the bluetooth in seems connected fine.
but for no reason at all i can link to any action my keyboard will just stop sending keystrokes to the computer.
1. the keyboard is on
2. the bluetooth shows the keyboard and i can selects disconnect and connect.
the only way i can reconnect the keybpard is reboot. by holding the power button in.
i have a spercial mouse with 6 buttons on as i need this to work and that mouse works through another dongle bluged in via usb. i have tried disconnecting this but the keyboard still wont connect.
this is really getting bad now as i have 3D renders going on in the background 24 hours a day. and a reboot rrally upsets my work.
i have a mac 27 inch mid 2011

Hello B:
One thing to try is to make the devices "favorites" Directions for that are in other posts of mine.
However, the keyboard (from your description) could be faulty. Since it is less than one year old, I suggest you call Applecare with a warranty issue. I had a KB replaced (in warranty) a couple of years ago. Apple replaced it and paid the shipping both ways.

  • Wireless Keyboard keeps losing connection, anybody else?

    Hello all.
In the last several days my wireless keyboard (aluminum) keeps dropping it's connection. I can understand if there's a power-down-if-not-used-function built in. But this is happening while I am typing, or if I stop using it for, say, 30 seconds, e.g., while searching this forum for a similar post, the "lost connection" window popped up three times.
It's NOT the batteries. I used to use the widget "Mighty Monitor" but I found that it was not giving the same information as the Sys Prefs keyboard and mouse battery status. My sys prefs say that both keyboard and mouse still have 75% full batteries.
It's NOT the distance, the keyboard is 18" from the Mac.
It's NOT other bluetooth devices...I don't have any, except my Blackberry, and BT is turned off.
I have just installed the latest updates, including one for the Aluminum iMAC. Could this be the problem?
    Anybody????
    All the best,
    Steve

I have also started having the same problem after a month or so of owning my iMac. In addition to the keyboard I also have the wireless mouse and when the keyboard goes dead the mouse becomes very jerky - as the Mac searches for other bluetooth devices? (I say this because the mouse responds in a similar way when I sync my phone via bluetooth).
A quick search for other bluetooth devices reveals a mobile phone which isn't mine - possibly one of my neighbours? (I live in an old block of flats with thin walls!) Do you think this other mobile phone could be interfering with things? I thought one of the strengths of bluetooth was its ability to operate in an environment with multiple bluetooth devices - although I realize my mouse comment already brings doubt on this.
It just feels like something Apple would have thought about. What happens in a room full of iMacs with wireless keyboards?

  • Wireless Keyboard keeps losing connection

My wireless keyboard started getting hung up on a key and continues to to type it until the KB loses connection. Then it reconnects and sometimes repeats this several times before it starts working normally again.
It has also just been randomly losing connection without hanging up on a key.
Batteries are new and the iMac/keyboard and mouse is less than a year old.
    Any thoughts?
Mouse is losing connection too at times, but nothing like the keyboard.

  • HT2845 why does my wireless mouse keep losing connection?

    Good morning,
My wireless mouse keeps losing connection...my batteries are at 100% and the "discoverable" option is checked off.  Why is this happening?

    Hi:
PRAM=parameter random access memory - reset like this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243
SMC=system management controller reset like this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Sometimes resetting these "fixes" odd problems - and it cannot hurt.
To make a device a favorite, go to system preferences>bluetooth.  Highlight the device.  If detailed information is not shown, click oin the little gear>show more info.  Then click on the gear again and make the device a favorite.

  • Wireless Keyboard Constantly Losing Connection

I have been having trouble with my wireless keyboard for awhile now. It constantly loses the connection to my iMac.

Similar problem here -- keyboard has brand new batteries. I go into System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Set up Wireless Keyboard. It shows the "searching" and wait cursor. If I hold the power button on the keyboard, the light will turn green, and then it will flash, and as it's flashing the computer will say "keyboard found". If I hit the "Continue" button in time, it will show 100% on the battery charge when it gets back to the main screen, but within 5-20 seconds the keyboard will disconnect, giving a "Connection lost" message

  • Wireless (WUSB54Gv4) - keep losing connection

I've been having this problem for the past few weeks with my wireless connection. When I first setup Arch things were fine but I think the trouble began after installing or upgrading a package, I don't remember exactly. Currently I'm using this script to connect to wireless (haven't bothered with netcfg or anything like that)
    modprobe rt2500usb
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    iwconfig wlan0 essid ddwrt
    iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:12:17:f3:ef:aa
    wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    dhcpcd wlan0
Sometimes the connection lasts all day, other times it'll go offline within an hour. I think another wireless driver may be interfering but I'm really not sure.
    lsmod shows this:
    rt2500usb 17249 0
    rt2x00usb 7057 1 rt2500usb
    rt2x00lib 28418 2 rt2500usb,rt2x00usb
    mac80211 189598 2 rt2x00usb,rt2x00lib
    cfg80211 126930 2 rt2x00lib,mac80211
    rfkill 12510 1 cfg80211
If anyone could help me with this I'd really appreciate it, thanks in advance.

  • Wireless mouse keeps losing connection.  Why?

My wireless mouse has been working well for about a year now but recently it's being losing its connection to the iMac a lot.  Like 20 times during an 8 hour workday.  Everytime it does I have to double click it and wave it around a lot before it reconnects. It's not the batteries, there are no new wireless sources that I can see via SSID, and I haven't played hackey sack with it or anything.  What else might be causing this?

This is probably a mechanical problem, not an issue with your Bluetooth conneciton or the mouse software.
The batteries are probably disconnecting - No power. No bluetooth.
    Try this.
Flip your mouse over and remove the battery cover.
grab your business card and fit the end of it across the compartment - you're going to create a little padding between the batteries and the cover.
Mark the width on the card with a pencil and cut the card to fit.
Place the card on top of the batteries and close the cover.
The switch is going to need a fingernail to slide it now, but your batteries shouldn't disconnect as you move the mouse around.
    Or try this.
Get a little aluminum foil, fold it up into a little square and fit it between the -ve end of each battery and the springy contact. Not as secure but does the same thing.

  • HT1338 my wireless keyboard keeps disconnecting for no reason, I press the side button and it connects again.  Frustrating.

My wireless keyboard keeps disconnecting for no reason.  Frustrating especially when you are going full on and nothing there.  I press the button on the side and it connects again.  Happening more frequently.  Purchased in March.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

I just have to ask, Is the battery due to be replaced by any chance?
    Hope this helps

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks my wireless keyboard keeps dropping. This stops me logging in! Can I fix this, or at least show the keyboard viewer to login?

Since upgrading to Mavericks my wireless keyboard keeps dropping. This stops me logging in! And I find I cannot reconnect the keyboard without switching the computer off. Can I fix this, or at least show the keyboard viewer to login with instead?

    This is getting annoying!
The computer goes to sleep. I can wake it by pressing a key on the wireless keyboard. It thinks for a while. It asks me for the password. I can't enter the password because during that time the keyboard has disconnected from the computer. I have no choice but to hard restart the computer.
Any and all ideas welcome. Thanks in advance.

there's no pblm with my connection but this error keeps on showing,

Stop with the silly and pointless fonts.
A simple search of the forums for the actual error would have revealed the resolution.
Temporarily disable all security software on the computer.

If you purchased the iPhone from Apple or an authorized Apple reseller,
contact them for assistance. If you purchased elsewhere, go back
to that retailer and get them to give you a new iPhone or your money
    back.
If you have checked the serial number carefully and re-entered it
and that gave you the same error message, contact Apple if purchased
from Apple or authorized retailer; otherwise you have been scammed
and need to pursue the matter with the business you obtained the

I have an ipad 2 with airport express that I use to play and change music whilst teaching ballet class. Recently, I keep losing connection and the airport express appears to be getting quite hot. I did use Archos but changed to Apple for reliabilty! Can anyone help or should I just buy a new airport express.

I agree that it's probably interference. Only other possibility, since you mentioned it, it overheating. Is the express situated so that it is well ventilated? That is to say, not buried under other equipment and laying on its side? What does the status light do when you lose connection?
