My wishes to Adobe

Hi.
I've been a fan of Cool Edit Pro/Audition since I first discovered it while it was still called CEP.  Since then, I upgraded to Audition which was better.
But, I stalled at v1.5 because all the other versions totally redid what I was working with for years.  But that wan't a pronlem since Vista & Win7 weren't out at that time.
So, I decided to buy Windows Vista Home Premium and Audition 1.5 installed correctly (except for the WMA plugin) but a problem arised with the new UI : It was disabling Aero which I love.  But on Vista, even without Aero on, it's still really beautiful.
But, on Windows 7, it still installs fine and works.  Awesome.  But, like Vista, it desactivate Aero and Windows 7's Basic Theme is UGLY.  F* UGLY.
So, my wishes are that Adobe comes back to v1.5, updates it for Aero and make it a free download for an older version.  And those that needs or prefer the newer versions will have to pay for it.  I don't like the free counterpart like Audacity.  I don't want to upgrade either because all the effects settings and how it works changed and v3 IT LAGS LIKE HELL on a Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB of RAM, GeForce 8500GT.  No way, I'm gonna work with that.  Also, I use Audition for Audio Editing and Stereo Mix/Mic recording mainly.  I do not use it in a professional environment (studios, etc).
Anyway, in summary, my wishes :
- Enable Aero for Vista & Win7
- Free for the old version (1.5(.1?)).  Pay for new one (v3).

It must have always been very difficult for Audition's developers to resolve the issues around the widely varied requests that people make of them - whatever they do, somebody's going to complain. And invariably, to minimise the complaints, the product gets stretched in directions that aren't exactly compatible with themselves... and that's even before the changes in the OS come along as a curved ball to screw things up even further.
As far as the look of the thing is concerned, if you maximise Audition on your desktop, the OS interface is immaterial, isn't it? So all that M$ garbage can go completely as far as I'm concerned. Every machine in this house (not just mine) runs with the Windows Classic desktop and all 'enhancements' turned firmly off - and it will stay that way as far as we're all concerned. Life's too short to wait for Bill Gates all the time!
Yes, Adobe are missing an important trick by not having an Audition 'lite' version - especially one that can be handed out free to college users. It doesn't seem to occur to the marketing department that this is effectively how CEP got such wide acceptance in the broadcast field - off the back of CE2000, which many users could operate quite happily with without paying anything (albeit with a few restrictions). They got hooked on the interface, and the rest followed natually. But not any more - now users have to pay up front whoever they are, with very few concessions indeed.
Audition's primary market is the broadcasters though - and pretty much what they want is what the rest of us get, in the end. Needless to say, even though I'm not currently working in the broadcast area very much, that doesn't bother me in the slightest because a lot of what I do uses the same basic approach and facilites - just not in quite the same way.
Yeah, Audition 1.5 is good. In fact, if it had just one of the features introduced into Auditon 3 added, (the crossfade system) I'd probably still be using it for everything. As it is, I use AA3.0 and put up with the idiosyncracies of ASIO, and somewhat reduced overall efficiency - but I can get away with this because generally, I don't use loads of tracks at once. Worst case is probably 3-4 stereo tracks plus the odd mono fill, and it can cope adequately with this; the start delays are just about acceptable at that level.
But the bottom line is that whatever any of our wishes are, Adobe will do what the big customers want. I may be 'officially' to blame for the MIDI sequencer (oops - apparently I'm not supposed to call it that, despite that being blatently what it is) being completely hidden from normal view, but believe me, if that was really true, it would be very much the exception, not the rule...

How can I lodge a complaint about Adobe Flash Player? When I updated Adobe Flash Player this morning it also installed a McAfee scanning software without any warning or notification. I find this totally unacceptable. But I cannot find any information on the Adobe website that will allow me to lodge my complaint. Which I also find totally unacceptable.
    Ho hum.

This is a an old complaint. I would have thoughtas much bad karma as Adobe has received would have stopped this practice espcially since it found that many time McAfeee either gets protection signatures wrong or cause more problems than it fixes.
I don't know whether mailto:[email protected] is still effective.
At one time a disgruntled Adobe products user created a FaceBook or twitter page. And many in past have claimed when there complaints got ignored or laughed at by Adobe. They suddenly got action whe airring their complaint on this FaceBook or Twitter page.
There should be a big warning Box stating:

  • Bridge with Adobe Not So Raw

Okay, I've become totally spoiled by Bridge and ACR. Now I want a program that opens up just the large preview of my TIFF files in Bridge and lets me make some simple curve / color adjustments which Bridge then batch applies to the TIFF while I sleep (or whenever). No that is not Photoshop - in PS you have to open up the full TIFF file and that takes forever for large 16 bit per channel scans. A pain when you have a bunch of them. And batch actions in PS don't work unless the color corrections are all the same - or you use "auto" which is, well, sometimes less than a "best" correction. I know you need to open up the actual pixels in PS to do things like cloning out of spots etc. etc. (which are now not so much an issue with digital ICE) but I *like* the way Bridge and ACR operates together and I really would like that for TIFFs (and JPGs, BMPs, etc.). So does anyone know of a program that does that? I wish that Adobe would add that as a Bridge "plugin" (or whatever) but since that is probably on the Bridge list somewhere between never and eternity I'd be willing to use something else for a while... I vaguely remember that the old dead "Live Picture" software worked a bit like that - but I'm not sure if I still have the disc and it wasn't integrated into Bridge - which of course didn't exist back then. Surely something or other current works like Bridge/ACR but on TIFFs without actually opening the whole TIFF file? Or maybe I just want a TIFF to DNG converter so I can do ACR-like batch things to TIFFs. Yeah, I know that is impossible...hence the request for a minimal TIFF/JPEG/BMP editor in Bridge that adjusts color based on the Bridge preview... I'd even pay extra for it. I'd even tolerate sidecar files!

Like Curt stated, in PS go to menu Photoshop / About Plug ins / Camera raw. This brings a window showing the correct version number of Adobe Camera Raw (it should state 6.7 and only one version visible.
On you system it should be in this location:
In Finder use column mode and click on your disk with the system on it (normally it shows 4 folders: Library , Users , Applications and System) Click on Library and follow this path / Application Support / Adobe / Plug-Ins / CS5.1 / File Formats. Inhere should be only one file called "Camera Raw.plugin"
If you click on this file the info next to it should show the version number, in your case 6.7

  • Problem in Adobe Media Encoder CS6 Presets

This Problem appears to me when I want to export a project in MPEG preset:
I can't export an MPEG Video.
but H.264 and MOV is working.
My program and version is Adobe Media Encoder CS6. And the same is happened in Adobe Premiere CS6 and Adobe AfterEffects CS6.
So my question is: I want a link to choose and download presets fro Media Encoder (New presets or update the standard presets).
With my best wishes to Adobe to move forward.

    OK, give this a shot.
FAQ: Why are some codecs and sequence presets missing from my installation of Premiere Pro?

  • My wish for a Mac version of InDesign and Creative Suite

Adobe seems bent on making both the Mac and Windows versions of CS4 be exactly alike. I truly wish that Adobe would add some things that are available on the Mac, even if they are not on the PC. As long as the core of the program is the same, this should not be an issue.
I'm speaking of being able to hover my cursor over some text and typing Control-Command-D to bring up the pop-up dictionary. Having an Open In Dictionary option in the Control-Click contextual menu. Even access to that awful looking Apple Fonts palette because I do make sets of font in Font Book and I cannot see those sets in ID's font menus. How about access to the Character Palette in the Edit menu? Do I need more? Yes! Why does the new version of ID default to taking up the entire screen as a Windows program? This is not the Macintosh way, I think.
Microsoft learned their lesson a long time ago when they released a version of Office that they bragged was exactly the same as the Windows counterpart. Well, it was very, very slow to launch and I think it sold miserably. After that, they have gone out of their way to produce Mac-versions of their programs, I think, even having that Mactopia website for a while. I wish Adobe would learn this lesson, too. Besides pricing CS4 upgrades awfully high, I think, same as Windows approach is one of the major reasons I will not upgrade to CS 4.

You can change the display option so that Id CS4 looks more like a Mac app from the Window menu by deselecting Application Frame. This feature is also in Ai and Ps CS4.

  • Adobe flash player 10 for Sony Playstation Portable

Dear Adobe company and developers, i know that you made adobe flash player for Sony PSP a long time ago, but that prooved to be insufficient.I consider that you abandoned the project because of some company issues between you and Sony, but we, the users of that platform, we don't care. I know you are the best in this industry, and i, like so many other users of the portable console, we ask you to release the latest version of flash player, because the browser of the console has full capabilities to play flash contents on the internet.
I humbly ask you to create this update, because version 6 was very good, but at it's time :(.... The majority of websites don't support it anymore, and we would be gladly happy to know that you didn't lost your interest in this platform developing.
The file should look like this: Adobe Flash Player Update EBOOT.PBP or Adobe Flash Player 10 EBOOT.PBP but i think you know very well the programming interface on that.
Please answer to my message to know that i receive a good news and i should be happy.
    Best Wishes for Adobe,
the Adobe and Playstation Portable users from Romania.

i would like to download this adobe flash player for sony playstation portable, because it is important to do thing that i would like to.
tnx for adobe. i can watch the video i want. godBless

  • Adobe Reader keeps telling me that there is no default mail client

Adobe Reader keeps telling me that there is no default mail client.  But I do have Outlook 2013 set as my default email client.  I really don't wish for Adobe Reader to be looking for an Email Client.  How can I get Adobe Reader to quit looking for an Email Client?

That's on a Mac, but it's the same in Windows.
After you click "Add Other..." use ANY email address (make one up if you feel like it)
Set it as your default. It should stop asking you to choose.

  • Juicebox/Showkase--wish Muse had this option

I keep wishing that Adobe Muse would develop a more web responsive design so that images will change size according to the viewer's screensize. A great example of this is Showkase/Juicebox. Since I'm not a web developer, I don't know what coding they use, but I wish Muse would step up and imitate this adaptive style.

  • A letter to Mr Shantanu Narayen

I recently sent this letter to Mr Narayen, in the hope that he will listen to us members of the Adobe forum that wish to see FreeHand co-exist with other more complex applications which Adobe manufacture.
NB: this isn't a dig at any particular application - it's purely requesting the right to choose which app we want to use in order to execute a job in the most effective manner.
I hope some of you find it useful or it peaks some interest and prompts more people to become active in our proposals.
the main site is at www.freefreehand.org
    =====
    Dear Mr Narayen
    Ref: Free FreeHand request
I am writing this letter to you on behalf of myself and my team of ten designers here in the UK.
I have been operating my own company for approximately fifteen years and was both Senior Designer at Chrysalis Records and a freelance graphic designer seven years prior to that.
Adobe has been, and still is, important in the evolution of my design career. I was a champion of the Acrobat PDF format in its early years and my agency was partly responsible for the instigation by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe of the PDF format as a successor to the standard repro workflow, the results of which changed the reprographic workflow for the entire computer game publishing industry.
As you are aware, small design agencies need to be flexible with working practices and embrace multi-disciplined approaches to project solutions. Inevitably, this means that we will use not only Adobe products but those from Quark, Microsoft, Apple. etc. Invariably, we will make decisions on how we resolve a brief by using apps which are the most time-efficient and creatively flexible, dependent upon the individual and the job they are working on. Certain decisions that Adobe appear to be making regarding FreeHand do not bode well for the effective running of my company and you are restricting both the creative process of my team members and the practical, economic reality of what we produce for our clients on a daily basis.
My request is a simple one. Whilst we will always embrace the creative tools and upgrades which Adobe release, I would ask that you continue to recognise FreeHand as the flexible, unique, effective tool that it is and either a) provide sufficient updates and support for it on the latest operating systems or b) If FreeHand bears little commercial interest for Adobe, release the code and the licence to the opensource community to allow further maintenance.
Whether Adobe recognise it or not, ALL creative industry tools are absolutely essential to the operation of agencies across Europe, North America and Asia, and specific applications cannot be imposed upon a creative mind. That is like suggesting that an artist use a particular paint brush when they are used to a pencil. Yes, we should expect to be flexible, but the graphics arts should not be suppressed in the way Adobe appear to be showing with their lack of support for FreeHand.
Please allow us flexibility in our workflow and the right to use the application of our choice. We won’t neglect your flagship applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects). Imposing applications on us and phasing others will not allow my team to execute their jobs efficiently and economically and enjoy the creative experience at the same time.
From an economical, business perspective, FreeHand helps my agency. For stimulating the creative process, FreeHand helps my agency. Please do not ignore or neglect it.
    Yours sincerely
    Eddie Deighton Founder/Creative Director
(email address included on original letter)

I've posted the following letter to Adobe executives Shantanu Nareyan, David Macy and John Loiacono:
    Dear Sirs,
For the past two decades FreeHand has been my core graphics application. I began using it in 1990 while an art director at BusinessWeek magazine, and then for 18 years designing props, set decoration, and sign graphics for motion pictures.  At right are just a few of the hundreds of designs I've created in FreeHand over the years, some of which you may recognize.
When Adobe purchased Macromedia, I like many others saw the writing on the wall for FreeHand's fate, but hoped it wasn,t so.  I'd wished that Adobe would take the best of both applications and create the greatest vector arts program ever. To date that hasn't happened, nor does it appear likely after observing Illustrator's evolution over the past few years.
I've great respect for Adobe's products and it's continuing development of applications for the graphic arts; along with FreeHand, I find Photoshop absolutely indispensable. I ask now that Adobe show that same respect towards the many artists who've been using FreeHand as their primary design tool for up to two decades or more. I believe the time has come for your company to commit to bring FreeHand up to date with current operating systems, or barring that, to release it to the open source community for further development.
I don't see how an update of FreeHand is a net negative for Adobe. Thousands have joined the FreeFreeHand.org site in recent months, and stated on the record that they would pay for an upgrade, myself included.  I don't believe that an updated FreeHand would be a threat to Illustrator, Adobe long ago won the war and made Illustrator the dominant vector arts program. However, isn't the economics of the matter simple? If Adobe creates a FreeHand upgrade that thousands want, the company will make money when we buy it, yet we'll still need Illustrator in our tool set complimenting FreeHand.
Like so many others, I too own Illustrator but find that while it offers much, it doesn't provide the same simple, elegant and intuitive environment in which to design. A major upgrade of FreeHand isn't a necessity, we just need to know that it will continue working, and that our old and able friend be given a breath of new life.  I've made a great investment in FreeHand over the years, and wish for Adobe to realize that such an investment deserves your respect.  We admire your other products and use many of them, that won't change. However we've no desire to let go of FreeHand, for it's quite simple, this product works for us in a way that no other does.  Thank you for your time.
    Sincerely,
    Eric Rosenberg

  • Printing Proofs in Lightroom

I'm using Lightroom for management of my digital images, and wish that Adobe would provide a way for additional output methods from the Print tab.
I recently had to output a large amount of proofs, and was able to successfully build the proofs in lightroom. I use the ColorBurst 7.5.1 RIP Server to run my Epson Pro 7800; have no problem with color printing from Photoshop on any of the media I use. Printing to this RIP works best when you are able to save an image file, such as TIF, and then drop the image in the Hot Folder; the RIP takes over from there.
I use an Xrite Colorimiter and the Colorbutst Spectral Vison Pro software to adjust my ink percentage and manage ICC printing profiles with great success.
I keep all my monitors calibrated, do so every two weeks, so basically, I don't have a problem with printing or color balance, except when printing from Lightroom.
Lightroom unfortunately won't allow me to output from the Print tab to a tiff file; I can choose PostScript or PDF, but then to preview the image using the ICC profile for the paper I'm using, I have to import into Photoshop, which is not that easy.
I tried printing the PDF files, and had a problem with the images rotating 90 degrees, and with the proofs being too dark.
Here's what I was able to work out, in order to print my proofs successfully.
After having my proofs set up in Lightroom, I selected the PPD for my printer, and hit the Print button. I then went to the PDF button, and saved the files as PDFs to iPhoto.
In iPhoto, I exported to TIF files, then opened the TIF files in Photoshop. I viewed the TIF files with the ICC profile for the paper I was using, then made necessay adjustments, and saved them as TIFs without any ICC profile.
After dropping these TIF files in the Hot Folder they printed correctly.
What would have saved me a LOT of time and ink and paper, would be to export directly from the Lightroom PRINT tab into Photoshop (like you can from Library or Develop), so I could create my output files directly from Lightroom.
If anyone wants to comment or offer suggestions on a different print workflow, I'd love to hear it.
    --Mark Johnson

    >What would have saved me a LOT of time and ink and paper, would be to export directly from the Lightroom PRINT tab into Photoshop (like you can from Library or Develop), so I could create my output files directly from Lightroom.
Check out the 2.0 beta. It allows for output from the print module directly to jpeg files in any printing profile or one of the three standard color spaces. The sharpening is also vastly improved there.

  • Premiere Pro 2.0 - AME Won't open!

Hello. Trying to export simple small AVI file to Quicktime. Premiere Pro 2.0, Windows XP, etc.
1st two attempts: Export/Adobe Media Encoder, chose Quicktime format. Encountered some kind of problem, error: Invalid profile file!  I think this is an audio issue, but not sure yet.
Subsequent attempts: Export/AME will not open - nothing happens when I use this menu sequence. Tried exiting Premiere, retried, same result.
    Ideas?
    TIA

    OK, thanks for trying.
There were no updates (to my knowledge) for PrPro 2.0, so that should not be an issue.
Next, and even an uninstall/reinstall will not address this - trash your Prefs file. Now, the process differs by Adobe products, but I think that PrPro will reset these, if you hold down Shift, and continue to hold it down when you launch PrPro. If that is not it, then I'd try holding down Ctrl. I wish that Adobe was common with this, across all products. PS is Shift+Ctrl+Alt, while launching.
One can also find the Prefs file in Documents & Settings/[User Name]/Application Settings/Adobe/Premiere Pro 2.0/2.0, IIRC (will go check on my XP machine and report back). The Prefs file can be Renamed to say Adobe Premiere Pro.Prefs_old. PrPro will regenerate this file upon launch. You WILL need to go into Edit>Preferences and reset things, as they will be set to the default.
    Back in a moment,
    Hunt
[Edit] Here is my Path: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\2.0. The file is: Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs. Change that to Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs_Old, or Move it elsewhere, say to an "Old Prefs" folder.

  • Installed RoboHelp 11 for trial and it overwrote Acrobat 9 pro with broken version of Acrobat 11 which I can't uninstall.

The subject says it all. I installed Robohelp 11 to try it. Without my permission, the installation nuked my perfectly functional Acrobat 9.0 Pro and replaced it with a completely broken of Acrobat 11, which I neither wanted nor needed. I went to control panel to get rid of it so I could re-install Acrobat 9 Pro, and Acrobat 11 doesn't even appear as an application that can be uninstalled. Yes, the installation is that broken. So now I can't work with PDFs at all. I am more than happy to uninstall the trial of Robohelp to get back Acrobat, but I'm not even sure that will fix the issue since the installation program seems so squirrely. Anyone else had this problem. If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned in my post, when I went to Control Panel to uninstall Acrobat 11.0, it wasn't listed among currently installed apps. However, after going back and looking through the Installed On dates in Control Panel, I realized that for some reason, it's called Adobe PFD Creation Add-on XI, rather than Acrobat 11.0. Interestingly, the program folder name in Windows Explorer still uses Acrobat 11.0.
Fortunately for me, I always have disc versions of my software. So I was able to re-install Acrobat 9.0 once I got rid of Adobe PDF Creation Add-on XI. I really wish that Adobe made clearer what extras they are installing with these trial versions :-(
    Thanks again.

  • Acrobat Updater plug-in fails to install

I'm running Mac OS 10.4.11 on Mac G5 Quad, 6.5GB RAM, and whenever I run the Adobe Updater for my CS3 programs, I get a dialog box that says, "A new version of the Adobe Updater is available for installation. Click OK to install it now.", so I do, and it downloads and starts to mount a dmg or something, then I get an error message, "Adobe Acrobat Updater plug-in failed to install.", so I never know if it updated the rest of the Suite or not, can't find any info about this. Has anyone found the answer to this? Thanks! :)

    Hi Meisha,
I have had the same problem for months now and cannot figure out how to solve this. I have seen another discussion with the same topic "Adobe Acrobat updater plug-in failed to install" but am unable to reply to the discussion for some reason. I'm new to using the forum.
Someone in that discussion (Donald Raymond) posted a command, but I don't understand how to effect the command nor how to reach him to ask him to clarify. The discussion link is here:
I wish that Adobe would address this issue and give a valid solution. Otherwise, I'm unable to update my CS3 products on Mac OS. I also tried to install a download of a new Adobe update manager, but that didn't solve the issue.
I hope someone can help us!

  • A whole world of problems....

    Hello Adobe Edge Animate Forum,
FIRST, I am requesting that an Adobe Edge Animate programmer please take a look at this discussion.
I really love the program, and it's promise for what it does.  I am spending countless hours in it, creating
a more media rich version of http://www.pazzaria.com
I am getting frequent errors, hang ups, and parts of the program that just don't want to work.
Attached, you will se the specs of my computer.  My HD is a 250 GB SSD.
I have been in digital media, and, thusly, have been using your programs for over twenty years.
I wish that Adobe Edge Animate had an option for me to increase/decrease the amount of RAM allocated.
    My issues:
    1) Attached, you will find an error message that comes up, when I start up the program.  Now, of course,
it's b.s., because I just OK, and I can use the program.
    2)  Often, when I try and rename either a group, or a file in the Elements menu, or the Timeline, I can't.
I highlight the file, type in the new name, and it just reverts back to the old name.  Very, very frustrating.
    3)  This is a new one, as of today.  I tried to resize one of my graphics, and the handles didn't show up.
The rotate symbol came up, and I accidentally tried to resize it, but ended up rotating it.  No worries.
         I just command z-d it.
    4)  Often, smart guides just come on when they want to.
I have trashed not only the Edge Animate preferences countless times, but, also, one time, I trashed
all the preferences on my machine, thinking that that would help. It has not.
I also repaired disk permissions on my hard drive several times.  No luck.
I have also trashed, and resisted the program about three times.
Every time I do any of the few fixes above, I also restart my machine.
The bottom line is, this program should really still be in beta.  It needs a lot of work under the hood, still.
It's a lot of little things, that, at the end of the day, just add up to delays on the project, and are frustrating.
The problem is not with the file, because I have experienced similar errors in another file.
I know that you just through with a whole round of updates, for this.  In my experience, it didn't
    fix a lot of stuff.
Is the fact that I have an SSD an issue?  I hope that you have tested the program on a wide variety of
    machines.
Please advise, as I am a paying CC member.
I would really like Adobe Edge Animate to be as smooth as your other programs, in terms of functionality.
    Adobe is better than this!
    Thanks!

    Hello Vinod,
I am very glad that Adobe is taking a look at these forums, and trying to help out.
I am using the latest version of Adobe Edge Animate.  All of my s are running the latest OS X OS.
Please.  Issue an update soon, to cover these issues.  Why is EA so buggy?  Hasn't it been in development long enough?
I am really enjoying the software, but, of course, when bugs happen, it's annoying, and slows down workflow.
I would like to take this opportunity to say, however - BRAVE ADOBE!  To not only pose the question of, how can we make a program that creatives can make an HTML 5 website, without knowing how to code, AND, to have the brilliant idea of utilizing an After Effects interface to do it with is just pure genius.
You guys have something awesome going on here.
Here's the manifesto, that will be on my website, once it goes live:
pazzaria.com 2.0 is wholly unlike any website that you have ever encountered.
It’s much more media rich, immersive, and engaging.
This is all totally on purpose, you see.
So many websites are still, unfortunately, stuck in this “digital magazine, or newspaper” mentality.  Whoever said that the web had to be that way?  Many websites want to stuff information into rectangles, boxes, and grids, with little regard to motion, audio, or, heaven forbid, story.
We, at Pazzaria Productions, see things in an entirely different way.  We are incredibly lucky, and grateful for Adobe creating Adobe Edge Animate, for, without this software, what you see could simply not exist.
What, you say?  There is Flash?  Indeed!  Flash has been around for a very long time.  But, Steve Jobs bequeathed that Flash shalt not be on iOS devices.
Adobe Edge Animate renders everything in HTML 5, so, there is no excuse, and no devices
which websites created with it cannot be accepted.
    Please enjoy http://www.pazzaria.com .
