My word application refuses to launch all of a sudden after 3 years

HI - ive been using my macbook for 3 years - all of a suden word within microsoft office for mac wont launch - an ideas ??

Which version of Office?
Do the other Office apps - Excel, Power Point, etc. - work?

IMac stopped recognizing my Internet connection (ethernet) after announcing an IP address conflict (all of a sudden, after 6 years). How can I get the whole network settings part back to default and start over?

Since that time, no matter if I plug it into one router or the other (I use a router in my office to share the one ethernet cable that comes down the hall) it claims that the ethernet is working and it knows that it is connected to the Internet,but it cannot access the Internet. IT seems to be stuck in a cycle of navel-gazing, constantly focused on its own ethernet IP address.
All I know how to do is operate the thing; we have no IT person here. A visitor set up our network for us a few years ago. Only the iMac has this problem; my PC laptops go online just fine. But all my work is on the iMac.

First thing to try is renewing the DHCP lease.
System Preferences > Network.
Do you have a green dot next to Ethernet? If so, with ethernet selected in the left pane;
Check the location is set to 'automatic'
Check 'configure IPv4' is set to DHCP
Click the 'Advanced' button
Check that DHCP is selected in that window for IPv4
Turn off IPv6 (gives a conflict on some routers)
Click the button 'renew DHCP lease'
That should persuade the router to give you a different IP.

Need help FAST Application refusing to launch

My PowerBook is refusing to launch an app, the app works fine on all my other computers. In the app's crash log I get this:

This computer used to run the app fine until earlier today when a folder named 501.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (the x represents numbers that I can't remember). I am loosing my patients with this **** computer and am about to smash it with a hammer if I don't get this fixed FAST.

If you really want this fixed fast, you should consider:
The more information you provide about the crash, the better. You didn't indicate what program you were using and you also seemed a bit frustrated when you posted and didn't quite finish the sentence concerning the 501 folder, which I can only assume, appeared in your trash, as I think I've seen this before after a program quits unexpectedly.
According to the crash report, it appears that the program that is crashing is Adium.
You can try reinstalling the program to see if something has been corrupted in the program package.
You can check to see if there is a more up to date version of the program. You might be dealing with a bug that has been fixed in a more recent version.
You can hunt for the preferences by doing a file search in the library/preferences folder to see if you can find all the preferences associated with adium and delete them. You will most likey loose all your preference setting and any login information, since it's an IM program, but at least you can get it up and running again.
Don't delete the preference files until you have verified that the other two solutions do not work. There's no need to go through re-intering the preferences you want if you can fix the problem by reinstalling the program, which doesn't mess with your preferences.

You likely didn't erase the ENTIRE drive of the later OS X operating system before installing Snow Leopard. You just targeted the Macintosh HD partition.
Try again, this time make sure to select the name and size of your boot drive at the top to catch the hidden EFI partition that's responsible for the splash screen at boot time (no screen = white)
It will take two reboots to reset the EFI again, so once Snow is installed and reboots, reboot again.

My Bill Payment became so high all of a sudden after renewing!

Around November 3 I reneweg my account for another 2 years getting some upgrade and discounts in the process. Before I renewed was paying about $165 per month for my three fios services. Around late November my upgrades and discounts would take affect. My first bill for theses new services was good. I only had to pay around $145 like the agent i spoke to prmised. However, for the new bill I just recieved today the price hiked back up to the $165 range. I compared the two bills closely and it seems the only difference was that this bill had about a $3 increase in taxes. Why did my bil payment become so high all of a sudden? Am I not getting the promotional discounts? I was told by a verizon agent that I would only be paying around $145 a month which is the reason why I upgraded in the first place. Please help!
P.S. I still have not recieved my $120 bonus prepaid card yet for renewing.

Apache refuses to run all of a sudden. How to debug?

I'm having a very strange issue I've never run into before. Snow Leopard 10.6.8
After doing web development on a MBP 17" for years, suddenly Apache will not start up.
I run the default Apple Apache install via Web Sharing, with a few added PHP extensions - mcrypt, memcache, nothing crazy.
I haven't changed anything in the configuration for months.
Web Sharing preferences says Web Sharing is running.
I have NameVirtualHost on and several dozen sites in ~/Sites/sitename.com - again, all working great for years.
Skype is not running and stealing port 80.

Wow, I feel silly.
I was tailing the wrong log file.
Tailed the right log file, reloaded http://localhost/ and Apache was not able to write one of the vhost domain log files:
tail -f
/private/var/log/apache2/error_log
(2)No such file or directory: httpd: could not open error log file /Users/me/Sites/logs/sample.com/logs/error.log.
Fixed the path to the error log file path in the sample.com vhost container... and restarted Apache.
sudo apachectl restart
I guess I didn't realize before that 1 issue with 1 vhost (in a config with dozens of virtual hosts) can bring down apache completely for all vhosts.

Applications Slow and Unstable all of a Sudden?

   I recently re-formatted and re-installed Mac. Everything was fine for the first day or two of using, however applications (as well as finder) are having some major problems now.
If I open iTunes, sometimes it will open instantly like normal; sometimes it will bounce once and then the entire computer will freeze (except I can still use Expose and Mission Control via gestures). Once an application is running, it seems to do okay, with the exception of chrome, which will cause the same problems as iTunes (sometimes even worse, forcing me to hold the power button until it shuts down. One of the triggers for freezing seems to be attempting to control anything other than the app that is in the foreground. If I try to click off of the window, everything will freeze. Force quit rarely responds in these situations.
I'm pretty upset at the moment, as I have noticed other unrelated performance dips as well, and can hardly multitask as well as my friends new $600 toshiba laptop. I paid a fair amount more than $600, and am incredibly dissapointed that this is an issue already.
The laptop was purchased late December, 2011.

Processor : 2.5GHz Quad Core i7
Ram : 8GB 1333MHz
GPU : Intel HD 3000 (512Mb) + 6770M (1Gb)
Hard Drive : 512Gb SSD
Display : Hi-res Anti-glare (1680x1050 I believe)
     I'm not with the computer at the moment so I can't C+P off of System Info.
        Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't afford to drop another $4,000 on a laptop, and need to fix this ASAP.

Boot up holding command-r keys into Lion Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
Restore from TM backup
Reinstall Mac OS X
Get help online
Disk Utility
First run Repair Disk and see what it reports... if there are problems run until repaired or states it cannot be repaired. Then,
choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install in place and won't affect any of your own data.

Photoshop won't launch all of a sudden

Why do my saved pics/images have a green mark on the all of a sudden after 4 months of non use on my G3?

Who is your carrier and what is your coverage with them? If you are with say Verizon, and have Total Equipment Coverage or Extended Coverage, they will swap it out for you under Manufacturer Warrantee.

Since you mention Firefox, I assume that the original problem is with Internet Explorer?
If so, check if that malware has the "kill-bit" set for Flash Player: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3432049#3432049
If you find that this "kill-bit" is set in your registry, don't remove it manually (unless you are very confident editing the registry); post back here, and someone will post an easy way to remove that "kill-bit".
