My wrt1900 is now unplugged

i'd say it started about 2 months ago and i had to unplug and go back to the old unreliable netgear router that is slow and keeps kicking android devices off.
I don't know what happened, but one day i could no longer log in to smartwifi, kept telling me my password was wrong.  Took some time but finally got back in.  Then it keeps telling me my device isn't connected to internet, funny, cuz i'm using the router as internet connection to log into smartwifi.
Keeps rebooting without notice.  Will be watching netflix and suddenly the movie stops, go look and the router is turning back on.  Again.  It will run ok for about a day, then it gets stuck in reboot loops for no reason.
Has rebooted and changed the device name back to factory and set the password back to factory.
Has rebooted and kept the factory device name and changed the password to something new.  Had to go to network and sharing, click on connected network, click properties, check box to show password to connect all my devices back again, and it still does constant reboot.
Router is curently in a box at new house and haven't moved internet over there yet.
Sure would be nice if there was a way like on other routers to just plug it directly into laptop and do setup and complete wipe/restore to out-of-box condition without having to use a website login (that keeps telling me the router isn't connected to internet)

The latest firmware helps with the rebooting issue on the WRT1900AC. I recommend reset to defaults before and after upgrading the firmware.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

1st problem was IMac running slow.  Shut down and unplugged several times with no correction.  Eventually, shut down, unplug and reboot resulted in wallpaper background eventually coming on screen but no icons.  Nothing after that.

Kurt, do you know which exact iMac this is?
Have you blown the dust out lately?
Does it do better if allowed to cool off for a couple of hours?
What do you see if you hold Option or alt key at bootup?
Does it boot from the install disc holding c key at bootup?

  • Network Cable Unplugged Status, PC to PLC

I am working with a PLC connected to the PC via Ethernet.  I would like to receive notification that the cable is unplugged.  Here is the scenario:
    1) Connect to PLC with ConnectToTCPServer (ok).
    2) Send commands via ClientTCPWrite (ok).
    3) Receive status back from PLC. (ok)
    All this works great.
Now unplug the Ethernet cable.  Go to step 2) and send the command.  CVI sends it and returns a -kTCP_NoError.  The PLC never responds, and the system is frozen.
Why do I not get an error when using ClientTCPWrite to an open/broken connection?
Obviously, Windows is aware of the connection, as I instantly get a "Network Cable Unplugged" notice in the taskbar.  Is there an SDK function to do this?
If you wait long enough, it will trigger the TCP_DISCONNECT in the callback.
    Thanks in advance, David

  • Tried to restore my 20 GB iPod. Now it doesn't work, and won't charge!

I could find no reference to my specific iPod issue in the forums search, so posted a New Topic. Here's the situation.
I was given an older 20GB iPod "Click Wheel" model. I was told it worked, and it would show the Apple logo when you tried to turn it on, but it wouldn't power on when I initally tried, and the battery indicator showed about 15-20%. So, apparently, the battery needed to be charged before it would operate. I borrowed my neighbor's iPod power adapter as they have the same iPod as this one. I plugged it in and the iPod battery immediately started charging, and everything look normal. It took about 4 hours, but it fully charged the battery and the ipod worked great at this point.
I plugged it into my PC, but it apparently had been Apple formated and it said it couldn't be accessed by my PC. The program asked if I wanted to "restore" it factory original settings and the set it up for a PC? Since all of my iTunes are on my PC, I elected to restore it to the factory settings, then use the PC settings. I did this, and everything seemed to go normally with the restore process. Near the end of the restore program, it told me to now unplug the iPod from the USB adapter, and connect the iPod to the power adapter to complete the "restore" process. I did this, only it won't charge the battery now, so it can't complete the restore process! The iPod screen shows an icon directing you to plug the adapter into an electrical outlet. Also, I can no longer access anything on the iPod, and it doesn't turn on. Oh, and now when I plug it in using the USB adapter, it's no longer seen by either my PC or my G4/867. Any help on what happened, and what I can do to correct this issue would be appreciated.

I am having essentialy the same problem, but my iPod came from a PC and is now on a PC. The person who gave me the iPod didn't give me the wall adapter piece, so I bought a "Griffin" brand that was said to be compatible with this model. When I first plugged it into the wall, the Apple appeared with a bar underneath as though it was loading the new software. When the bar got to the end, the "plug into the wall" icon reappeared, but when I plug it in to the wall now, that icon is the only thing that shows, even after resetting and trying to run diagnostics.
When I doc the iPod on a charger I have or plug the USB into my computer and "reset" it, a battery with a charge icon appears, but there is no "motion" in the icon so it doesn't appear to be charging. The screen eventually goes back to the apple then to the "plug it into the wall" icon. HELP!!! Is is possible the wall adapters isn't the right one? Should I be charging through a firewire cable instead (which I also don't have...)?

  • Need help extending my current wireless connection

    Hi guys,
I'd like to extend my current connection so that it reaches the two back bedrooms in the house. At the moment, we're lucky if we see one bar there. A friend spent a few hours this week trying to figure this out and finally gave up.
Our internet provider currently has us set up with a:
    Huawei router HG655b
As options, I currently have access to an airport express (802.11n) as well as a Linksys E1000 wireless-N router and wonder if either could be used simply to extend the current wifi signal to reach the back bedrooms(mostly for ipads and ipods) OR completely replace the current Huawei router with either device to increase the current router's poor signal range.
I do most of my work in one of the rooms adjacent to the back two bedrooms and currently have a macbook pro connected by ethernet cable. I'd like to use this room to set up the airport express or linksys router if need be. On another note, the only system we have here with cd access is the macbook pro with Lion OS X. When I tried to install the Linksys router, we got an error message saying it wasn't compatible with Lion yet. Attempts to set it up without the cd have proven futile.
Thanks for any help in advance guys, we're totally clueless at the moment....

    Hi again huluvu,
Changing the security settings on my Huawei didn't seem to make any difference unfortunately. I'm really not sure what the problem could be with my express. I am living in the middle east at the moment but I don't think this should matter as I know lots of others here who are using various airport products.
The good news is that I was able to increase the signal strength by setting up and creating a new network on the Linksys router. We're now able to get two bars(hey, it's better than one) and I'm wondering if I can physically move the router to another room closer or actually in one of the bedrooms. I currently have the Linksys router sitting next to and connected to the Huawei by ethernet cable. I haven't tried it yet as I'm worried about causing problems with the newly created network but I wonder if I could now unplug the ethernet cable on the Linksys and move it and plug it in in one of the back bedrooms(without ethernet cable) or does it need to be connected to the Huawei by ethernet. If so, I guess I could run the ethernet cable into the bedroom as well but would prefer not to unless need be.
Thanks again for the detailed info. I had the iStumbler app before but am now using the KisMAC app which I believe does pretty much the same thing. I'm going to look at the "wifi scanner" app now.
    Cheers!

  • No sound with Pulseaudio, while it's working with ALSA only

    Hi!
I have no sound when pulseaudio is running, while sound works great using ALSA only, i.e. when I kill pulseaudio.
In pavucontrol, the volume meter is working in the "Playback" tab, but not in the "Output devices" tab. Is this normal?
I've tried changing the default sink in pulseaudio's config, did not work.
I've tried different kernels as well as different pulseaudio versions, but it looks like the issue comes from the configuration. Note that the Arch install is fairly old (~3 years), and since this is not my own machine, I am not fully aware about all what happened in /etc. I'm using the default /etc/asound.conf and /etc/pulse/*.
From what I can remember, Pulseaudio was working well at the beginning (i.e. 3 years ago), and I can tell for sure that it stopped working at least a year ago. I cannot tell what happened in between since I have not been using the machine.
I have one onboard card + one HDMI card.

Logging from a TTY or from a DM did not change anything: still no sound.
I've tried to reset all sound-related files in /etc as much as I could. Still no success.
Since I've been experiencing this issue for months and I'm totally getting out of clue, I decided to go the lame way and to install another Arch on a separate partition. This one was working out-of-the-box with Pulseaudio.
Then I've tried to make both systems similar: same configuration, same kernel, same packages, same users, etc.
The new one was still working, the other one not.
Some logs of the new system:

  • A Solution to the error 'no permission to copy document here' (hurray!)

Since I posted my query about this annoying error, I've noticed lots of other people are plagued by the same problem.
As I have FINALLY received a response from and Adobe support person - hey, it only took 35 days! - I thought I'd share it here for anyone else to use.
Below are the instructions I received to correct the problem, along with my notes where the instructions were not clear.
Solution 1) Unauthorize Reader and Reauthorize it. (note that I couldn't reauthorize until completing Solution 2)
    1) Open Digital Editions.
    2) Connect the Reader and open it. (turn on the reader and connect it)
    3) Press the keys Command + Shift + E on your
    keyboard. (Control + Shift + E on a PC)
    4) Now a Deauthorize screen will come up asking you
    to deauthorize your Reader.
    5) Follow the screen instructions and unauthorize
    the Reader.
    6) Now unplug the Reader and replug it.
    7) Authorize Reader from the same Adobe ID which you
used to Authorize Adobe Digital Editions. (I did this but Digital Editions did not offer to authorize my reader until I had completed 'Solution 2' below, so you can just unplug your reader as per #6 above and carry on with step 1 below)
Solution 2) Modify the manifest.xml file located in My Documents\My
    Digital Editions:
    1) Quit Digital Editions
    2) Make a backup copy of the manifest.xml (call it something like
    manifest.good)
    3) Open manifest.xml in notepad
    4) It will appears as one big long line of xml, and you are looking for
a tag called start at the begginning of this
and select until you the end of the tag that looks called <(>
<<)>/de:deviceID> (yeah, this is garbled! It should say Look for a tag called <de:deviceID>, highlight and delete it. Go alt, edit, find and type in 'de:deviceID' without the quotation marks, notepad will take you right to the part you're looking for and you can highlight it and delete it. I found 2 de:deviceID's with a bunch of letters after them and deleted them both completely.)
    5) If you have attached more than one Reader there may be multiple of
these. Delete all of them to make sure. like I said
    6) Save the file (manifest.xml) and quit out of notepad
    7) Ensure you have the Reader plugged in (Turn on and then plug in your Reader)
    8) Launch Digital Editions
    9) The Device Setup Assitant should come up.
    a) Do NOT click on the "Don't ask again for this device" checkbox.
    b) Do click on the "Authorize Device" button.
I am very happy to finally have the use of my Aluratek reader back. I missed out on quite a few requested library books that became available while I was unable to copy them to my Reader. Also I wasted a lot of time trying to get this sorted out. I have given feedback to Adobe that this seems to an issue that affects quite a few people and they they need to address it.
Hope this helps everyone stuck in that same annoying error-mode!

A solution for Sony Reader to avoid Adobe's Nazi (and incompetent) lockout of about half the books you buy is as follows.
Close DE (or not) click on the READER drive in MyComputer that pops up when the Sony Reader is attached,
Bore down into the Database ->Media->Books  drag and drop in and out whatever pdf's or supported documents you like.
If you want them to show up in DE you can copy and author Digital Editions -> manifest.xml to include or remove your books
(make sure you make a backup of the file first).
Better just ignore DE completely and control your own book library.
    Heil Adobe.

  • Iphone 5 is on recovery mode and USB is not being recognized by PC

Hello! I promise you this will be very usefull! just read!!
So I had this same problem and  I tried a lot of things including hitting on the on/off button along with the middle button at the same time but it did not work!!!! here's what I tried- all of what I'm gonna mention now in PART A didn't work because they were working perfectly on my pc so I didn't have to touch anything related to them, so if you have everything perfectly installed/updated and so on then please move to part B down there
I have found some very good info here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/usb-device-n ot-recognized-in-windows-7/8106a712-a13e-4ca5-b82e-c3961cc254b1?page=8
And I want to share it with you guys in case you got stuck with this issue of having an iphone 5 on recovery mode and not being able to fix the problem when the usb of iphone is not recognized by your PC.
    PART: A
First of all, check if all problems do not exist, like:
    1- Newest version of itunes
2-all necessary updates are done on your windows. ( if operating system is up to date ) just click on start and write updates and it will show alone click on it and check if you have necessary updates to make.
    3-check your security software.
    4- update security software.
    5-restart your computer.
If all of the mentioned above are working perfectly and the problem STILL persists then move to PART B : ( This has worked and because I was so much excited that it worked after trying and checking for answers for 2 days I thought about sharing it so you won't suffer as I did because I don't want anyone to experience that)
    Here's what to do:
Click the START menu , on the search bar:
    write: >> Device manager <<
*if you cannot find it through the start menu then go to control panel: Click on hardware and sound bar - after opening this you'll find a title with " Devices and Printers" under this title you'd find 5 options to do here I'll list them in order:
    DEVICES AND PRINTERS:
    ((    Add a device |  Add a Printer | Add a bluetooth device | Mouse | Device Manager    ))
Note that I have windows 7 and this is what worked for me, if you have other windows and if you cannot reach your device manager button then please do check that online to get the accurate details about finding the device manager, it's the most important step here that's why, for example write on google: how to open device manager on windows 8 or windows 7 or MAC etc..
Okay, so now you have the device manager opened ( before you do anything now unplug your iphone's usb from the PC) in Device manager's list of contents you will find " Universal Serial Bus Controllers " click on it to expand it,
after you expand it you will see many options related to USB's and stuff, find the one related to your iphone it will say " Apple mobile device USB driver ( recovery mode) click on it - click properties >> Uninstall -
after you uninstall this apple mobile device USB driver, open itunes ( must be in the very recent version) then plug the usb of your iphone to PC, you'll suddenly see the little bar down on the left side of the screen saying " installing new usb driver" something like that, wait till it's successfully installed then itunes will inform you about your device connection with it and how to deal with it through restoring it, you just click on restore wait few minutes and then smile your phone is back to live !!
I hope it works with you as it has worked with me!!
    Best regards,
    Rana Km.

    Back to life**
Oh I know there are many other vocabulary mistakes but never mind them I was just too excited when I wrote all of that while typing very quickly
P.S: if you have any question then ask and please do tell me if it works or not with u but I'm definitely sure it'll work so tell me this and we'll get excited together
Also if you have an experience to share then do share it as well please.
    Peace

  • Using AX as wireless router, how to set up w/ security and airtunes on XP

I previously had a Linksys wireless router. I just purchased an Airport express to use as the wireless router (and remove the Linksys router) as well as use the Airtunes functionality.
After some trial and error, I have been able to wireless connect my computer to the AX on it's own (the linksys router is now unplugged and out of the equation). I can connect to the internet fine on my PC (XP Pro SP2).
Trouble is, when I use the Network Setup Assistant, it shows the apple network listed, but it can't connect to it, no matter how many times I try, reboot my machine or reboot the AX. I've tried both the "setting up a new network" and "editing an existing network" option, and in each selection, after a few minutes of trying to connect to the network, I just get a failure message.
If I try and use the Admin utility, nothing shows up in the left-hand list window, and when I Press re-scan, still nothing shows (it doesn't even appear to scan).
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can't find simple instructions on how to set up the AX as the only wireless router for a PC and set up security and Airtunes (I'm assuming enabling airtunes is done in these applications, as I haven't seen anything about that yet either).
Any ideas on how this is done with a PC? Much thanks!
    Dell 4500 series

I have found the 'DHCP Reservations' option on the AirPort Extreme to be buggy.  I seem to remember it causing IP conflicts for some reason.  I think what I remember is that if the computer with the reservation was off, and the DHCP server then handed out that IP to another DHCP client, then there would be a conflict when the reserved IP computer was turned back on.  Maybe it was an issue in ealier versions of the AE or OS X as the case may be, and maybe it's been corrected, but I've never bothered using it agian since the method I describe below has always worked without fail.  Also, I'm guessing DHCP Reservations would work fine if one manually enters IPs outside of the DHCP range but in the AE 'DHCP Reservation Setup Assistant' the IP options provided are within the DHCP range which to me makes no sense and increases the potential for IP conflicts.
Here's what I do to setup a mixed environment of static and dynamic IPs on my network.  It works like a charm and does not require the DHCP server (beyond the distribution of dynamic IPs to hosts using DHCP).
For machines on my network that are accepting services from the public network, I set them up with static IPs using the 'Manually' option (System Preferences/Network/Ethernet/Configure IPv4).  The settings for 'Router' IP address and 'DNS Server' IP address should both be set with your gateway/router LAN IP).  Use an IP address below or above the DHCP range of adresses (in AE/Internet/DHCP/DHCP Beginning & Ending Address).
i.e. if my subnet is 10.0.1.1 and my DHCP range is 10.0.1.100 to 10.0.1.150, you could set the static IPs on your local hosts as 10.0.1.x where x = any number from 2 - 99 or from 151 - 200 as an example.
All other machines and devices that do not require static routing are setup as DHCP clients and get a dynamic IP from the AE.  To me it's a simpler setup though it might take a little extra time to setup initially.

  • IPhone with iOS 5 not recognized by Aperture Import

I upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPhone and when I upgraded to Aperture 3.2 (on OSX 10.7.2) Aperture no longer recognizes my iPhone as an import device. It recognizes that something was attached that had photos for uploading on it, but no device shows up.

This is a solution that worked for me that I posted in another thread.
Similar situation: none of Aperture, Image Capture nor iPhoto recognised my iPhone 4 (iOS 5) as a device to import pictures from.
    My solution
    1.  My setting for "When a camera is connected open..." was "No Application."  I changed this to "Image Capture" (as it is the fastest to open).
    2. I unplugged and then reconnected my iPhone.
    3. Image Capture then automatically launched, with my iPhone and all of its pictures ready for import.  The same occurred for Aperture and iPhoto (which I was just using to test).
I have now unplugged and reconnected my iPhone a number of times and have been able to import photos every time, using either Image Capture or Aperture.
    Hope that helps!

  • My computer is no longer recongizing my ipod

my ipod shows up with the usb port pluggin ginto itunes on the screen when i plug it into itunes it says the ipod needs to be restored but it is unable to restore the ipod bc it cannot find it. how do i get the computer to recongize my ipod

1st, Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
if you do, continue as follow.
Make Sure your iDevice is plugged in.
Right click on My Computer & Click Manage.
On the Left side on the Window, Click Device Manager (System Tools>DeviceManager)
on the Right Side, go to Portable Device and Right Click Apple Mobile Device USB Driver and select Uninstall.
Do the the same if you have several Drivers installed for your iDevice (iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc..)
Now unplug and plug your iDevice into your Computer. Driver should start automatically installing.
iTunes should now detect your iDevice.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

  • Headphone Jack no sound when plugged in ?

music plays fine , when i plug in the jack the music stops (as normal) but no sound from headphones/jack ? pleas help thanks....

emeres wrote: Do you look for something like this?
I am not sure. I had a look at the code (I dont know Perl, though), and it seems that, in the end, all it does is issuing
    pacmd set-default-sink x
However, when I do this manually, it doesnt switch the sound to the other sink.
emeres wrote: I would check if udev recognizes that headphones are plugged in/out (udevadm monitor), create a rule and a script setting the default output via pacmd. Or create a systemd service, or your own script periodically checking the status.
Unfortunately, udev does not seem to detect plugging in or out
(udev monitor doesnt output anything when I plug headphones in or out).
However, I can see the change in pacmd list-sinks as described above.
When I set pulse log level to debug, I also get some output from there, indicating that it gets recognized:

  • Wireless configuration for HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer on Ubuntu 10.04

I have bought a HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer CN557A, which I want to use with ubuntu 10.04 64-bit as a wireless network printer.
Before i bought i checked compatibility on www.hplipopensource.org and www.openprinting.org, and all was in order.
The machine is autodetected and fully functional when connected with a usb cable, but i have not managed to get it to work as a wireless printer.
    This is what I did:
I configured the printer on the wireless network (through the printer interface), and it connects. It prints out a "Wireless Network Test Report", and everything works. I can ping to its local ip adress, and access it through the browser. HP eprint also works.
I installed hplip 3.11.10 and dependencies manually. I did this because the default hplip in ubuntu 10.04 did not recognise the device.
I ran 'hp-check', which gave no errors or warnings:

    2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
    3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

I then ran 'sudo hp-setup', chose the device (which was detected), chose my wireless network, entered the wireless security key. On the configuration results dialog I get two messages:
"Your printer has been succesfully configured on the wireless network. You may now unplug the USB cable"
    and
"The Ethernet cable is plugged in which will prevent you from connecting to a wireless network. To connect wirelessly, remove the cable and try again. (VSA000)"
There is no ethernet cable plugged in, so i can't remove it. I unplug the USB cable and click 'finish'. This makes the 'hp-setup'-dialog start over again, and the printer has not been installed.
In the terminal i have the following:
    tjoff@mek-403-jakbo-01:~$ sudo hp-setup

A friendly soul on ubuntuforums pointed out to me, that the wireless configuration is only necessary when the printer is NOT connected to a (W)LAN. So all I really had to do was to configure the printer in the CUPS administation page, and it worked. Problem solved. Silly me.

  • Laserjet m175nw connecting to wifi

    Hi,
Can someone please tell me how to setup an HP Laser jet 100 color MFP M175nw for wifi?
    From a Mac running 0SX 10.6.8?
I did the installation from the CD but the "HP setup assistant" says "The selected device (my printer) is not configured, Click continue to configure the device". However when I press continue - nothing happens.
I reinstalled the installation software from the HP support site to check I had the latest version. Same problem.
    I installed the latest firmware.
    Same problem.
So a) does it matter that the "HP setup assistant" gives that error?
    b) is there another way I can set the device up so that it is accessible through Wifi.
By the way, I tried reading the manual but and tried  Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). But it doesn't seem to work. But if I can't get that working how do I change the SSID and network password on the printer? Can't seem to find anyway to do this.
Many thanks for any guidance at all.
    Pete

Sorry, my bad.  Your printer has a different printer control panel than I what I thought.
You may want to check on the HP website for the latest MacOS installer update if you haven't already done so.
OK, so lets try a different approach using the printers embedded web server (EWS).
First, connecting your  printer to your network via an Ethernet cable.  If you don't have an available opening on your existing wireless router, you can even just connect your mac directly to the printer with an ethernet cable (if you do connect this way, you may have to temporarily turn off your MacOS wireless but probably not).
Open Safari on your Mac.  Look at the bookmarks bar that runs across the top and look for an icon that looks like a Book opened up.  Select that.  Once that opens, select the printer menu on the left.   On the right, you should see your printer listed.  Double click that to open the printers EWS.
Select the Networking tab in the EWS, then select the Wireless Configuration menu item under Configuration.  Now select On if not already on and hit the Apply button at bottom right of screen.   It will ask you again if you want to proceed, click on Yes.   The screen will now expand with more options.  It will have a status message that you must unplug the wired ethernet cable for your printer to function on the wireless network.  That is ok for now while you are configuring.  Once you are done, simply unplug the network cable and your printer should be on your wireless network.   You can probably even run the HP printer installer (ignore anything about wireless or usb connect though, simply select as if you had a wired printer (this will keep the installer from 'helping' you reconfigure the wireless network again.)
Now that you are in the EWS with wireless turned on, Select Join an existing wireless network (it usually will default that way).  You should see your wireless router show up in the Network Name (SSID) list below.   Select your wireless router.  If your wireless router has a password, the screen will prompt you for one.  Hit Apply at bottom right of screen.  The status area at top of EWS will show activity.  If all goes well, you most likely will see the same status as before (as opposed to a different error).   Now unplug your ethernet cable.  If you turned off wireless on your mac previously, turn it back on.
Now you can print from an app, the printer should show up as a choice and when selected, will search for a driver and then automatically setup your print queue.  Alternativly, you can go to the MacOS setup and select print&fax.  Select the plus key.  This will bring up a list of printers.  Choose your printer.  It will then try and match the right HP driver.   Acknowledge and you're done.
NOTE:  If you connected a USB cable it's possible that the MacOS automatically set up a print queue.  Once you've configured your printer for wireless, it's a good idea to delete the USB print queue for your printer (do that in the print&fax in setup - it will show usb next to printer (your wireless printer will show Bonjour).   What can happen is that you start printing to your printer and nothing happens because your print job may be going to the USB print queue which is no longer attached.  Either remove that queue or make sure your wireless printer is set as the default printer.
    Good luck!
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own.

  • HP Installer Fails on Windows 7 64-bit for CP1020 Series Printer

    Hello!
I've been trying to troubleshoot this for days, and I've seen lots of unanswered/unresponded to posts regarding the same matter so I hope someone sees this!
Product Name & Number: LaserJet CP1025nw color CE914A
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Error Message: HP LaserJet Installer has stopped working
Changes made to system before the error occured: We updated our router info, so I ran the installation disk to reconnect the printer wirelessly. It uninstalled the programs originally added to run the printer.
    The Details:
Alright, so 3 days ago we updated our router SSID and password for security reasons. Apparently, there's no easy way to update network details for the CP1025nw so I had to run the installation disk. It prompted me to uninstall the software, reboot and then reinstall. I run through the prompts, and then choose "Connect through a wireless network". After searching the network, I then choose "USB Setup of Wireless". I connect the USB when prompted, and as soon as the drivers are installed I get the Windows error message posted above.  I have attached a screenshot of what appears as well.
The frustrating thing is that the printer still works after installation, but only through USB connection! I need to get wireless working again, but without the installation software working, I can't seem to make this happen (unless someone knows a hack/work around).

I have tried a vast array of solutions and none of them seem to work. Everything from firmware upgrades, removing all instances of HP files including .inf files, installing with startup programs and services as basic as they can get, etc.
     PLEASE HELP!!

Alright, well this was a beast of a problem to say the least. I'm so relieved to be finished with this nonsense.
How it all started - a recap:
We changed the password on our wireless network as we were updating it for security reasons.  I couldn't find ANYTHING that allowed for me to update the network details (password or SSID) directly on my printer and everywhere said I needed to uninstall and reinstall everything (and re-run the connect to wifi via USB). This is not the case - there is a much simpler solution which I will also cover at the end of this post. Anyway, as mentioned above, during the stage of installing device drivers, the installer crashes with the Windows message "HP Installer Setup Has Stopped Working".
    How I fixed it:
    1. Printed a configuration page by pressing down the 'resume' button for a few seconds and letting go. I took note of the following in the upper right corner:
         Status: Not Connected
         Network in Use: None
         IP Address: 0.0.0.0
I got continued to wonder if I could connect to the printer directly through the ethernet port so I...
    2. plugged in a cat5 from my laptop to the printer.
    3. Printed a second configuration page. Now I got the following information:
         Status: Connected
         Network in Use: Wired
         IP Address: 169.254.71.50
    4. I opened my web browser and tried going to 169.254.71.50 but the page wouldn't connect. I recently just built a gaming computer and found a way to bridge internet from a wireless laptop to a wired device (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96Z1_6rX5qU) so I wondered if this would work with the printer.
    5. Bridged my Wireless and Network connections as per the video above.
    6. Opened my web browser and once again tried navigating to 169.254.71.50 and it WORKED! (Not sure if that IP address is unqiue to my printer, but printing a configuration report is the best place to find it.
    7. I clicked on the Networking tab and then selected  Wireless Configuration.
    8. From here I was able to enable my wireless connection, updated my wireless password, and choose the wireless network I wanted to connect to! This is how you can update your wifi information without having to do a complete reinstall!!
    9. I now unplugged the ethernet cable (as suggested next to the enable/disable radio buttons. My wireless printer light turned on and stayed on. I was now connected again!!
    10. I don't think this was a critical step, but I also set up the ePrint mobile printing
    11. I printed another configuration page, and could now see the following:
         Status: Connected
         Newtwork in Use: Wireless
         IP Address: 192.168.1.115
    12. I could now navigate back into the printer through my browser using that IP and was able to find and print to my printer wirelessly through my phone, but was still unable to print from my laptop wirelessly.
    13. I inserted the original install CD, held my breath and clicked install. Holding your breath here is optional.
    14. It asked how I wanted to connect, and as before I choose wirelessly. This time instead of asking me to connect the USB, it FOUND my printer on the network! I selected it, clicked continue and everything successfully installed!
Everything is now back to normal! I can use my printer wirelessly once again. PLEASE let me know if anyone needs more clarification on the above steps, or if something doesn't work for you because there is no other solution out there. Trust me, I spent HOURS AND HOURS looking. I hope this helps some of you!
    Cheers,
    Kirk
