My yahoo email won't open in firefox and it will in internet explorer. this is been happening for about a week now, spiratically

About a week ago my firefox won't open my email everytime I click on the link. A link comes up to open quick view, but that isn't what I want and I'm not sure it works either. I have tested with internet explorer and it opens fine.

You don't have to disable any addons or extentions!!!You guys are not going to believe this I figured out the problem it's really dumb...ok here goes the attachment uploader loads seperate so I got to thinking it's a popup so I went to options content and under block pop ups there is an option exceptions click on that and in the box type firefox.com and hit allow pow its fixed!!!!! :-)

About 50% of the time Firefox is extremely slow loading any google scripts/search, all other scripts/search load quickly. Been happening for about a month now.

A month or so ago FF starting taking forever to load any page using Google scripts, also Google search. Not always, about half the time, the other half the time FF works fine. Can go on and off like this three or four times a day. No discernible pattern. Pages without Google scripts and other search engines (Bing, Yahoo) always load fine with FF, only Google doesn't. Even while FF is slooowwwly loading Google scripts/searches, Chrome and IE load the same scripts and searches quickly with no problems. WTF?

I had this problem, I checked my add-ons one by one as suggested and it was the Avast online security add-on slowing me down on Google. Disabled it and FF works ok.
No idea why the avast add-on would do that? Still using the full version of avast but not the add-on.

Spry menu works in Firefox and Safari, but not Internet Explorer

I designed my school website in CS4 and CS5. The left spry menu bar appears correctly in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer the gray background and buttons do not appear. You can only see the text and when you scroll over the text, it disappears even though when you click on it, the link does appear. The website is http://ml.chinookschools.org. I created the site on a mac and I am hosting it on a mac mini server on my network at school. I am a beginner with Dreamweaver and I'm not sure if someone can help me with this, but I would sure be appreciative for any help offered. Here is the source code for the main template page:

You are not using the latest Spry files
The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
Then, if you have a look near the bottom of SpryMenuBarVertical.css you will see that the white background colour has been specified for IE as in
@media screen, projection
    ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
    display: inline;
    f\loat: left;
    background: #FFF;
Change the value to #CCC and it will have fixed that part of the problem.
When you upgrade to the later version of Spry, make sure to keep a copy of the CSS file as a reference to modifying the new CSS file.

Gmail won't open in Firefox (and I've already reset it and deleted prefs.js)

Gmail won't open in Firefox. I get this error:
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
Steps I've taken:
1) Reset Firefox preferences
2) Deleted prefs.js

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the <i>cookies.sqlite</i> file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Suddenly, email won't open on Comcast home page even though internet is connect.

I am having some sort of a problem (3 days now) with Safari. I have MAC 10.5.8 and Safari 5.0.6. I have my internet services through Comcast and use them as my home page after opening up Safari. I can connect, browse, and open up web sites, however I cannot open up my email (which is most important to me for receiving my bills for paying online). I receive the following when I click on my email icon:

Underneath the email icon, I also sometimes receive the following message:

I don't know anything about the above messages.
Comcast has worked with me the past two days and says it is not on their end. I just installed Firefox and I am able to access my email, so it must be some problem with Safari. I don't like to use Firefox, would like my Safari back.

Have you tried to update your Safari to 5.1. I have OSX 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1. I don't know if you can update to 5.1 with 10.5, but if you can, you probably should. I use Comcast and the email page is my home page and don't have any problems accessing my email on either Safari or Firefox. The update may be what you need.

Numbers won't open but pages and keynote will

Hi,
I brought iWork as a download (serial number sent by email which I have misplaced!) and was working fine until about 1 month ago. I can still use Pages and Keynote fine, but Numbers won't open. I click the icon on my dock but it just comes up with a transparent ? over the icon instead of opening.
Anything I can do?

(2) the OP's problem is not related to Keynote (with no S) which behave flawlessly (as well as Pages) on his machine but it's a Numbers one. It's logical as he asked in a Numbers dedicated forum.

My Itunes hasn't been able to open for months, the first time it happened was about the time my Internet explorer stopped working for no reason and my msn messenger won't connect either. Could these be linked I have a had a few I.T. keen people look at it with no solution... I have tried removing and reinstalling Itunes and msn Messenger but nothing has worked. When I click on it, it just won't open... any ideas?

(1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005
installed on the PC?
(2) try launching your QuickTime. does it:
(a) launch perfectly fine?
(b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so,
what does it say?)
(c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could
you describe it for us?)
(3) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and
click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch
itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes
tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it

I can no longer open a blank new tab by clicking on the +on the far right of my tabs. And I cannot open a new tab using CTRL T either. This has been happening since your last firefox update!

Prior to one of recent upgrades in late September, I was able to open a new tab but using the + on the right unused tab. This does absolutely nothing now. I have even tried the CTRL T function and it does not work either.

Why do pdf files from some web sites download as aspx files, which I can't open from Firefox but I can in Internet Explorer?

I have tried downloading files which are supposed to be pdf but they download as aspx files. This doesn't happen if I use Internet Explorer and other pdfs from the same web site download without a problem.

To make a long story short, the server can send a preferred file name but isn't always programmed to do so. IE sniffs the beginning of the file and may override what is sent by the server; Firefox does not.
You can manually change the file extension when you save it (if you have Firefox set to ask you where to save) or you can rename it after it is saved.

Webpages load slowly in Firefox (about 5 minutes or longer for most pages) but load instantly in Internet Explorer. This has been happening for the last few upgrades, but years ago never used to be a problem. What could it be?

I don't think it's every webpage, but most of them, and all pages open instantly in Internet Explorer but Firefox takes minutes to open a page and just sits there with a white screen while it's loading.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). For about a week now, Firefox will not start unless I re-install it, then it works for about a day and does the same thing. I have gone through all of the fixes

I am on the current Firefox version. I am running Windows 7 Professional with all current updates, and I run McAfee. As stated, I have tried all of the possible fixes your site discusses and have made sure McAfee is setup to allow Firefox full access. I am not sure what to do. Doing a reinstall fixes it for 12 to 24 hours. There is no message, just does not start and there does not seem to be a process running.

I have Firefox set as my default browser, and I have Display PDF in Browser checked in Preferences in Acrobat. What am I doing wrong? I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro.

MIght be helpful to disable Adobe plugin by going to Adobe Reader's Preferences -> Internet and unchecking "Display PDF in browser using".
Then dump the atrocious bloated Reader.

*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
