My Z10 is dead.

Hello, I was looking at my browser today and my screen slowly went black. The battery was well charged. Now as I got home I plugged it into my charger (thinking it was dead battery) nothing.
I have not had the phone a year, I pulled the battery and kept the charger in, getting the red light for a brief moment. What gives?
I hold down the power button and I still get nothing but black screen.

Nothing? I am not at all impressed with my first Blackberry experience.

  • My Z10 is dead after latest OS update

    Hi,
I bought my Z10 in June 2013 at Reliance Digital Shop of Gurgaon and it was working fine after i switched using BB Link but 3 days ago I updated the OS with latest offering and then first my password keeper stop working and then from yesterday it stalled with BB logo on screen, i found no solution but only to reload the OS and I did it. Again the password keeper stoped working and asking the password again and again>> today again it stalled with BB logo and I tried to reload the OS again but this time it shows an error message and my Z10 is dead no responses at all.
Please help if at all anything is there the fun part is I am in Japan now and I have to send this stupid phone to India by EMS to get the warranty offer if anything they offer.
This will be my last BB unfortunately and what I guess even 1 billion US$ can't save RIM.
    Ciao

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
That is the first I've heard of this issue. You may need to reload the OS. Instructions are in the link below. However, you should probably give your carrier a call and ask to be escalated to BlackBerry Technical Support.

If it's still stuck then you could try an autoload instead, a good write up on how to do it is here.

  • Help! My Z10 is dead!

This afternoon, my Z10 turned off, and won't turn on.  It's been in the charger since then (about 3 hours) and none of the lights will come on, and the screen won't boot up.  Acts like the battery is dead, but I'm not able to even get the dim "charge battery" icon to come on (and I was at 60% charge less than an hour before I discovered it was dead.  Any troubleshooting ideas?  I will be checking in with Verizon tomorrow, but I was hoping someone might have an idea or two tonight.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall chargerLeave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesRemove the batteryWait 15 minutesInsert the batteryWait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesThis has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If it fails, try again but increase the step 4 wait time to 2 hours, and perhaps as long as 4-5 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happensObtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happensThe results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "known good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Z10 completely dead

My Z10 froze last night (as it has done several times in the couple of weeks I have had it).  I pressed the power button so I could chose to Restart option.  When I hit the Restart the phone went dead.  It won't even take a charge (although the battery was almost full when this happened).  When I plug it in to charge it the light doesn't even come on to show it's charging.  This thing is dead to the world.

Summit if needed try the os reload process outlined here. Good luck.

  • After newest update on Sat March 9 my Z10 went dead

Just opened up my new Z10. While trying to update it with a Mac and just after downloading the Link application, the download of the update never ended and suddenly an error message came out saying that the phone was disconnected and a red light flashing from the phone.
I charged it several hours. No luck.
Took out the battery and sim for a couple of minutes, several times. No luck
Re connected to the Link app and did restore and a green light came up (short happiness) and after some 20 seconds an error message saying no new update and back to the red light.
Can anybody help me? Thanks a million.

    Hey duchir,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Follow the steps below to bring your BlackBerry Z10 back to life:
Ensure that BlackBerry Link is installed on the PC or Mac OS
Ensure the computer has an internet connection.
    Launch the BlackBerry Link Software.
Note: A backup of the BlackBerry device should be tried before a reload.
Turn off the BlackBerry device. Make sure there are no flashing LEDs and that the LCD is not still being lit by the backlight. If there are any flashing LEDs, hold the power button for 15 seconds until the LEDs stop.
Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer.
When prompted with Cannot communicate with device, click Restore and then click yes allow the update to be downloaded and installed on the BlackBerry device.
If the restore button is not seen press the vertical dots in the lower right corner of BlackBerry Link and select disconnected device.  Highlight the disconnected device you are working with and attempt steps 4 to 6 again.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Dead/fully completely bricked z10?

My z10 battery ran dead the other day and won't revive at all - same symptoms as this post (no logo/no comp recognition/nothing) - My Z10 is dead...
I've tried all various reset methods - tried reloading os (comp doesn't recognize device is connected/link doesn't recognize device/internet explorer method doesn't work either), have bought a new battery/ls1 charger kit, used oem chargers etc.., battery pulls etc.... I do not get anything on the screen -
the only sign the device gets any power is if:
:battery is removed then the device is plugged in - red light will come on for approx 45-60 secs then go off (both with battery out/reinserted)
:if I hold down power button etc.. to do a reset - the red light will flash twice after 10 secs then nothing.
Again, no recognition by comp/link(doesn't recognize as a usb drive - and yes the cable is fine also), nothing on screen whatsoever (no logo/battery/loading screen etc...)
I'm willing to try anything that might work in the next 24-36 hrs as I love the ph - but given that the z10 has basically been discontinued (the charger was stupid hard to track down in store) I won't be looking to replace it and it will prob have been my last bb ph. Any suggestions would be appreciated! thanks john

  • Z10 dead: red light blinks

My Z10 is dead. I was checking messages while the screen has become black and then the red lights has start blinking. It blinks 1-4. I've tried a battery pull, but it's dead. Sometimes, randomly, appears 'blackberry' on the screen, but the phone stucks on it. The pc doesn't recognize the Z10. Thank you for your help.

I tried the step by step procedure however the software won't update.  Th screen shows
"Software update encountered an error".  A connection to the device could not be established.
However, the BB Link screen shows that BBZ10 is connected.
    Is there still hope?
    Thanks!

  • Z10 will not start up went dead

My  z10 was fully charged and used it in the morning. A while later my phone was totally dead. It will not start up. I have pulled the battery and sim card and still nothing. Even put it on a charger and will not turn on. A couple days before this I had just uploaded the newest software. Also a couple of days ago I got a blue screen and also the phone has been rebooting itself for the last few days. Can anyone help me? Or is my phone garbage?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Depending on your BB10 OS level, this could be a known bug that has been cured in later versions. I recommend you check your OS level and if you are not on 10.2.1.3247 that you immediately update to it via AutoLoader
