My z10 simply just stopped working.

One day my z10 froze. I removed the battery. It has never come on again. Can someone help?

Ok, you have been quite clear in all of your steps/ options. I am clear in my understanding of it as well. It does not work refers to all of the steps and their various permutations. It also refers to known good electicity supply, known good charger, known good cable and....previously known good bb that is now not working.
Sir/ madam, if you have any suggestions further than what you have provided I would be grateful to receive/try them. If not, please do not make this experience as frustrating as the fact that my phone is still not coming on. Thank you for your time.

  • My iPod 5th Generation charger just stopped working??

Both my mother and I have iPod 5's and we've only had them maybe 6 months. I've never had any problems with the charger I have which is the white regular one that came with the iPod when I bought it. Today, when I got home from school, I tried to charge my iPod, but it simply wouldn't charge with the wall adapter. I then tried to plug it in to the computer and it still wouldn't work. I then thought it was the charger, so I tried my spare charger, yet it refused to work as well. I also tried it on my mothers iPod and it would not work either. The cables are not broken, I have just used them today. Also we thought it could have been the wall adapter and we used the standard white one by Apple, yet when we plugged it into the wall it said it was not compatible. I don't understand why they would just stop working out of nowhere, when nothing has been done to render them from working.

  • Help?  My BT Wireless just stopped working (BT Mouse is OK)

Normally the wireless keyboard that came with the iMac (intel) is reliable, its about 4 yrs old now
but today - it just stopped working?
Although it shows (menu) as being connected (BT) and Batteries are at 100%,  I can no longer get
keyboard output... and this applies to any running application.
Its not been dropped or mistreated - its just stopped working. I have restarted the iMac but to no avail.
I am using the older USB Keyboard as a stop gap.
    My queries are;
         1. Has this keyboard just simply worn out or developed an internal fault ??
         2. Has anyone else experienced this or had similar problems ??
         3. Is there some way I can check the integrity of the BT or the Keyboards communications with the iMac ?
All help to solving this problem - will be most appreciated
Running Mac OSX 10.9.4 on Intel iMac (2CD) 8GB RAM

    Hi Barry.
    Thanks for your response.....
As mentioned I did restart the iMac which I believe also resets the PR (chime) during that  process.
However I will try specifically zapping the PR - several times like the old days and Mac OS 9.
    and come back to you

iPhoto just stopped working. It loads pictures, but then goes into rainbow wheel forever. Then I try to force quit it, and then the whole Mac hangs up (had to power cycle it to get it back). I am using OS 10.5.8, and when I run software update, it assures me I have up to date software. I have not added any photos since the last time I used it, probably less than a month ago. What gives?

Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • DHCP just stopped working !?

Hi, I have Macbook Air SSD running Leopard 10.5.2 (9C7010). Boot ROM version MBA11.00BB.B03
It would appear that in the middle of the day, DHCP just stopped working. It doesn't matter whether wireless or connecting via the USB ethernet adaptor. If I want to get network connectivity, I have to manually assign the right IP address, router address, subnet mask and DNS addresses.
While I was travelling from UK to India this weekend, DHCP just stopped working - default "Automatic" network location.
It worked at home, it worked from the BA airport lounge.
When I arrived at hotel in India, I could not connect. Network Prefs reported a locally assigned IP address. I contacted their IT dept and got static IP address, router address, DNS addresses, and then everything was fine again.
In the office in India, no joy again with DHCP and it reported locally assigned IP address. Again, when I got static IP/router/DNS from our IT helpdesk, everything was fine.
Now I returned home, and it's just the same. DHCP not working, but if I assign a static IP address on my own home 10.x.x.x subnet and manually tell it the gateway address and DNS servers, everything is fine again.
I have rebooted quite a few times. I didn't install any new software or change any settings - it seems to have simply stopped working on the plane between UK and India !
Anyone else had DHCP problems like this ? Or have any idea how to get it working again ?
    Cheers
    The Baron.

Just got back from the Apple Genius Bar.
They booted my MBA from a separate boot disk, and the DHCP worked fine. That proved it was a software settings fault rather than a hardware fault.
They then tried deleting all the Locations from network setup, and adding a brand new fresh one. Sadly that had no luck.
They then advised me to try an archive/install of OS X from the original media. If the archive/install doesn't work, they said to come back to the Genius Bar with the install media and they will book a longer appointment
When I got home, I first created my own boot disk on a spare USB hard drive, and confirmed that if I boot my MBA from this fresh installation, the DHCP works just fine. So I am hopeful about the archive/install.
I am trying it now. If I have any luck, I will let you know. Also how painful it is copying over previous user settings, applications and so on.

  • Airport just stopped working

    Hi Everyone,
I hopw someone has some info that might help.
I have a MacBook and PC (yuck). Both just stopped working with my Airport Extreme, and when I tried plugging the ethernet cable directly into both, nothing happened. No data was transferring.
I called my cable company and they were able to get my PC working, directly connected, but not the MacBook.
When the ethernet cable is plugged directly into the MacBook, nothing happens...no lights showing it's connected to the computer. When I connect the ethernet cable to the Airport, everything lights up, showing a connection, but I can't get the data to transfer from Airport to MacBook (or PC for that matter).
Right now, I'm hijacking someone else's wireless signal in my condo...don't really know who. So, I know my Airport card is working properly.
The tech at Brighthouse cable saod something about earthlink customers having trouble recently because of something that earthlink downloaded to them, where IP addresses wouldn't renew. I never downloaded anything, is this possible?
I'm really stumped, and frustrated because I can't connect, and it's not feasible for me to hardwire in due to the location of my cable modem. Plus, that only works with the crappy PC, and I don't want to use that.
Please, someone help...I'm desperate...and at a loss for what the problem could be!
    Thank you!!!!
EDIT: I just powered up my old iBook G4, and it won't connect to my base station either
EDIT X2: I should probably add what I have already tried...I have (several times) unplugged the cable modem and Airport base station. Used Airport set up to re-set it (again, several times).

    Ok MCOJerry,
    Here's the scoop.
My friend called and gave me the story much like you described. Almost identical in fact.
He had called TimeWarner, who didn't come to any resolution and then referred him to Earthlink, washing their hands in the process.
A over seas tech support then spend a couple of hours, then made a call back with another tech. who also spent significant time on the phone. This time the tech reconfigured OSX a couple of times. Set up alternate location profiles, changed the DNS settings etc.
They re-assigned the IP address and forced the cable modem to init. the MAC address list. They also disconnected the Airport Extreme (the square version) connected the mac directly to the modem and forced a manual set of IP settings.
They got the mac to work with this last configuration, but of course the rest of the machines were out of luck as was the network printer.
All in all he spent six hours on the phone.
When I got 'the call' I had him give me some preliminary network stats and then had him reconnect the Airport Extreme. This yielded a dead internet connection.
So as I wrote earlier, I went over there armed with a boat load of tools & cables.
I reconfigured the mac to a normal & stable automatic type configuration. I also reset the the Airport buy pressing the reset button for 5sec. Then set up a new configuration. I made sure that the latest update was applied to the Airport extreme.
Then I logged on to the cable modem. Don't mis-understand, I did not log on to the internet through the modem. I logged on to the modem's internal web server. checked some logs and ran a couple of tests.
Then I found the problem. The real problem: The signal power level from the point of demarcation (at the pole) was so low as to be useless. Eliminating the Airport Extreme, simply removed a level of complication in the system. It also may have removed some spurious RF that may have been introduced into the network. It did not result in a resolution to the real problem.
The cable line needs to be physically repaired. Either a wet connection or a frayed shield or the line needs a booster. But the problem, which looked like a Airport extreme issue is in fact a bad cable line.
I do have him up and running on the Airport Extreme at this moment by eliminating all extraneous length from his cable line within the house. The cable modem is now located in the basement where the cable enters the house. I have an single ethernet cable running from there to the Airport Extreme. I pulled all the other electrical items from this particular power line branch (This specific circuit.) This is all temporary until the cable guy/gal arrives to fix the problem.
I hope this may help you in your trouble resolution.
    -Alan

  • One day, my bookmarks tabs just stopped working. I only have 12 pages bookmarked, why is not working anymore? I can't click the star, or manually do it.

It used to work, but now when I go to click the star, it turns yellow for about half a second, but won't click and bookmark it. I cannot bookmark it manually under the tab either, it simply does not click--no option comes up, and nothing is saved. I didn't turn anything off, it just stopped working, randomly.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Hi, i have an IPod Touch 4g. One of the earphones just stops working after while,no matter how many times i replace them. What do i do?

Hi, i bought my IPod 4G about 7 months ago. After about a mont of buying them, one the earphones just stopped working which became extremely annoying..so i bought a new set of earphones and they worked well for about 5/6 months and then one of them stopped working as well. About 2 weeks ago, i bought a new set of earphones and now the right earphone of that has stopped working as well. The thing is, the earphone doesnt just stop working on my IPod, it also stops working on my laptop...and now i am very confused as to where the problem lies. I can't keep buying headphones every other week cos that is just too expensive and i dont know if the problem lies with my IPod or what! The same thing is happening to my sister's IPod as they were purchased at the same time. What do we do??

This previous discussion discusses the same if not similar problem.

  • Can't open a dng or raw file in cs5, just stops working. So many problems in cs5!

I totally feel for you. Just upgraded from cs4 to cs5 and it was the  biggest mistake i ever made. It will probably end my livelihood as a  photographer since EVERY time i open a raw file it crashes photoshop,  makes it freeze up after i have adjuted the file in camera raw then I  hit open; i get a few bars then it just stops working.
Even got  tech help, which helped when i was on the phone with them. The next day  the problem came back even when I danced the same jig that I did when I  had the guy on the phone - he had me move a raw file on to the desktop  rather than take open from my hard drive, then I was able to open it, so  we came to the conclusion that my drive was corrupt. I had the same  information backed up on a brand new hard drive so we compared files  from the each drive against the other. The files from the new drive  opened successfully. Yesterday. Now Photoshop cs5 doesn't open any raw  or dng files at all from anywhere so it can only be a problem with  photoshop. We thought we had the problem solved but we did not. This  never happened on CS4 unless i was trying to open 30 or more raw files,  and even then it gave me a warning that it had no more ram, it didn't  just lock up and do nothing. I'm at my wit's end. Even though there are a  lot of great new things in cs5, they aren't very useful if you can't  use the product to do the simplest thing.

    1) Install the Photoshop 12.0.1 update
    2) Install the latest ACR update.
If problems continue after that, then there probably is something wrong with your system.

  • My ipod classic got wet back in August.. it seemed to work fine for about a month, but recently is not working at all..screen appeared to get cloudy and then it just stopped working. thanks.

my ipod classic got wet back in August.. it seemed to work fine for about a month, but recently is not working at all..screen appeared to get cloudy and then it just stopped working. thanks.

    Most likely, water damage.
You can try putting your iPod in a tupperware, half filled (maybe half inch) with rice grains, close the cover for about a week.
If you have done this, as soon as it got wet, higher chances of success, now looks like the water moisture is getting to the LCD screen.
Then you can always bring it to Apple Genius bar, for a an overhaul. (may cost you half the price of a new iPod classic.)

  • My lock button doesn't work. It didn't break, it just stopped working

Ok. So apparently during a workout outside, my brand new, month old iPhone 4S decides it wants to workout too. So I brought it to my workout, put it in a backpack, and set the bag down as I normally do. The dew on the grass that morning apparently casused enough condensation to trigger my litmus paper, and now my brnad new iPhone has no warranty, hence my question here. I have been searching for a week or 2 now on information for this, and can find nothing. Apple will do nothing but tellme they can replace the phone for $200 but then won't wanswer questions about the issue itself, and I seem to be the only iPhone owner in the world with this problem, so it's nowhere on the intarwebz.
So my lock button, up top, on the shoulder, stopped working. It didn't break, it didn't get stuck down, it just stopped working. Like, the screen flashed (go to wake the phone up, it didn't wake up, so I pressed the button again, and it flashed on and then off again real quick, like normally would). Hit it again, nothing. Hit the Home button, woke up. Played with phone, etc, went to put to sleep...... nothing. Hit the button multiple times, nothing. Button still clicks down and functions as the button itself should, but no sleep or wake. The button only actually does what it's supposed to do when I hard reset, or the phone is off and I'm turning it on. I can't take a screenshoot of the phone, and every now and then my phone will be just sitting on the table or wherever, and it will wake up, the "Slide to Close" bar pops up, and then 15 seconds later, goes back to bed.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and what should I look at fixing inside? I have not taken this one apart yet as I don't have the tools anymore, waiting on them to get here, but I figure Apple has screwed me on my warranty, so I'm just going to fix it myself. Never had this specific issue before, so I'm not really sure what the **** is messed up until I can take a look inside. Any help until then would be wonderful. Sorry for the long back story, and thanks for looking.

Your problem is rare from the symptoms you describe. Most lose the click function, yours still has it. Yours functions sporadically or only for certain functions. Maybe it is liquid damage causing this. Maybe it will dry and be OK.
While waiting for your Pentalobe Screwdriver, try a Firmware Restore with iTunes. See if this helps. If you still decide to procede, the first step inside should be to carefully disconnect the battery at its connector. Also all the screws inside are different sizes, except for some of the Screen screws, so keep them well sorted.

2nd Gen Time Capsule - will not power up - just stopped working all of a sudden - I have tried other power outlets - I have tried pressing the reset button - no light

The power supply is shot. But that it lasted even this long is the wonder.. not that it died.
    The TC runs too hot..
Look on ebay for "Time Capsule power supply"
You can get a replacement and fix it although the economics are not so good.. it is probably time for a new TC.
If you can DIY it is really only a few dollars worth of capacitors that go bad.
