My Z61t cover lid is not smooth anymore

Hello everyone! I don't know how prevalent is this amongst us Z series with titanium lid owners, but it appears my Z61t cover lid is not smooth anymore:

Did anyone else experience this and if so, did anyone tried to get it replaced with Lenovo?

corrosion isn't the correct term used by service.   titanium is one of the most corrosion-resistent metals.   the lid in your your photo shows looks like oxidation to me.
your lid is a titanium alloy -- it's not pure titanium.   the oxidation and discoloration you see could be caused by certain chemical cleaners, your environment, or even from handling.
i had a titanium alloy case for a palm Vx about 7~8 years ago and it discolored much like your photo.   i never thought anything of it and actually liked how it looked.
if lenovo singapore is willing to give you a replacement then you might as well get it.   however, just know that your replacement might discolor, too.

    I'm having the exact same problem. Typing is very slow and lags behind as I type along. This along with the clamshell mode not working anymore with my external monitor, and I'm rolling back to 10.5.1 right now. Time to see how a timemachine full restore works...
    This is the first apple update that has had this many problems for me. Maybe we're isolated cases, but if these types of problems are widespread, then somebody over at apple QA should be in hot water right now. This type of thing really kills customer satisfaction and loyalty...

  • Jagged lines, not smooth anymore lines, uneven lines after editing

    I am using a Mac, photoshop CS5
    I created a path with Curves with the pen tool.
    filled it in with a color light blue.
    than I use the paint bucket to change it to dark blue.
    This is when the curved lines become jagged, not smooth, uneven.
    any solutions?

    R_Kelley is correct in that the root of your problem is transparent pixels being filled.
    There are two very fast and easy ways to change the fill of an object without using the paint bucket tool.
    1) The first, as PECourtejoie recommended, is to add a fill layer. Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color... should bring up a dialogue box like the one below. Just make sure to have your shape layer selected before you do this, and check the "Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask" option.
    This option allows you to go back and change the color of the fill layer by double clicking on the clipping mask icon (the left box in the screenshot above).
    2) The second option is to add a color overlay Layer Style to your object. Just go to Layer > Layer Style > Color Overlay... This color overlay can be changed later by opening up the same dialogue box.

  • 10.6.8 update - progress bar not smooth anymore :s

    Basically, after updating to 10.6.8 on my Macbook Air when I move a file over my Local Network over Wifi the progress bar jerks in increments now and doesnt smoothly increase.  I hopw Im explaining it well but it moves then stops for a few seconds, moves then stops for a few seconds.  Its not consistently moving.  It is also say 20 secs slower over a 2.5gb file than my Mini is using the 10.6.7 OS. 
    Any ideas anyone?

    Looking into this a little more, it seems that this is not wifi related as it does the same thing moving files to and from my external drive via usb.
    Could this be due to the new TRIM system with SSD's on 10.6.8 and the way it accessing the drive when moving/copying?
    Noone else get this on the Macbook Air 13inch 2010 128GB SSD drive?

  • Gradient is suddenly not smooth anymore

    Hi, I recently noticed a problem when drawing gradients: The transition from black to became non-smooth.
    I'm using Photoshop elements 10 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system.
    The main installations I did lately were a Win7 upgrade to SP1 and a Photoshop CS6 trial version installation (and following the problem, Photoshop CC trial verison as well). I suspect the problem stems from one of these installations.
    I can confirm that the problem is local to Photoshop (all versions). When copying and pasting the image between either Photoshop version and Paint.Net interchangeably, the problem does not occur in Paint.Net (no matter which application created the source image).
    I attached a screenshot of how the output looks in Photoshop and Paint.Net side-by-side.
    The gradient looks bad at 100% or any other zoom level. Moreover, I tried creating images with various DPI resolutions (72, 100, 150, 200, 300) - it's all the same (and when I copy any of these images to Paint.Net it's as smooth as it gets).
    Notes:
    My screen resolution is set to 32-bit (True Color).
    My graphic video card is nVidia GTX 260 (it's been around, but still works a.o.k.)Following the problem I updated the drivers to the latest version (but it didn't help).
    According to suggested solutions out there, I tried almost every combination of Edit > Preferences > Performance > Advanced Settings:
    Enable/Disable "Use Graphics Processor"
    Drawing Mode: Basic / Normal / Advanced
    All the checkboxes (including 30 bit display, etc.)
    I also tried creating 8/16 bit images (and 32 bit images, but it's not possible to apply a grayscale gradient to this type of image).
    This problem is originally related to not getting smooth transitions when drawing with my wacom tablet along with pen-pressure flow preset, but I found it easier to explain the issue through gradients.
    Photoshop Elements 10 was working great earlier - this problem came out of nowhere (and I wish it would go back there).
    Ideas are highly appreciated (except for re-installing the OS).
    Hope someone could help - I'm searching for a solution for three days in a row already (searching for gradient band/banding/rings/etc. didn't yield a solution).

    What color profile are you using in the documents?
    Try this:
    1.  Go into your Preferences - Performance dialog
    2.  Click the [Advanced Settings...] button.
    3.  Choose the Basic drawing mode.
    4.  OK out and close Photoshop entirely.
    Now start Photoshop again and re-test.
    The above is based on Photoshop proper.  I'm not sure about Elements (been a while since I ran it), but the above change I described moves the color-management logic from the GPU into the CPU.  GPU-based color-management is inaccurate under some conditions. 
    Elements is closely related to Photoshop proper, so I posted it on the chance that this may help.

  • Dock animation is not smooth after updating recent update

    Hi everyone,
    I found that Dock animation (mouse move by) is not smooth anymore after I updated the most recently update (Thunderbolt, EFI recovery).
    Just like... the FPS down from 60 to 25 !!!
    Dose anyone have the same issue after the update?

    It was the display driver that was in the Thunderbolt update.  Original/stock Lion 10.7 has driver 7.0.6.  This works beautifully - MC animations smooth, browser scrolling fluid - in other words what you would expect from a $1200 laptop   I pulled the trigger and did a Command-R 'reinstall' which put the original driver back on.
    The TB update moved the driver to 7.0.8 and some folks are running 10.7.2 (beta ?) and it's driver is at 7.1.2.  So far - folks are reporting that all of these new drivers still have the choppiness
    To find out what driver is on your system, run this in a terminal:
    kextstat | egrep 'Intel.*Graphics'
    You shoud get something like below.  The number inside the parens is the driver version.

  • Scrolling not as smooth anymore

    Well I recently noticed that the scrolling isn't as smooth anymore. Especially in Mozilla Firefox the scrolling jerks a bit. It has become quite annoying. I did harddrive maintenance, cleared the cache, etc... and still the same thing happens.
    I believe it was ok before I updated to OS X 10.6.5.
    What to do?

  • After updating my iPod touch 3rd generation to IOS5 some default apps are not working (anymore)

    Hi,
    I updated my iPod touch 3g from IOS 4.x to IOS 5 last week and since then my iPod makes troublle!
    First of all, during the update I did not see any Problems. After the update, I mean the step where the data will be restored to the iPod, I synchronized some APPS at the same time, maybe that was a big mistake. My iPod makes hard resets many times in a loop until it frozes.
    So the only thing I could do here is pressing the home button and the power switch at the same time until it gets rebooted. The sync started again and it looked like everything runs fine.
    As I tried to use iMessage first time I realised the first Problem: I am unable to loginto iMessage with my Apple ID. My Apple ID runs fine, I can by Apps and so on. I also enabled iCloud to see that my Apple ID is ok. But logging into iMessage I put in my Apple credentials and Password, click on next, wait 3 seconds and the screen flips back. So this feature is not working.
    Next issue I see is that randomly my iPod hard resets itself. Even if I don't do anything with my iPod I can see that it resets itself, booting with the apple icon. This happens minimum three times a day... (Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV), Kern_INVALID_ADDRESSat 0x00000000)
    Today I tried YouTube, an internal Application which I cannot reinstall. It's not working anymore, starting YouTube says: Unable to connect to YouTube!
    I have no clue whats going on here because email and web is working fine.
    In my eyes I would like to reset the whole device to a state before running IOS5 and I would try the update again. But my Question is how to reinstall IOS5?
    If IOS5 will not run smoothly on my iPod, I would prefer to backref to iOS4x.
    Is there anyone who could help me out here?

    Found the rootcause. The battery was damaged and unable to have enough power to keep the device alive. After changing the device problem is solved.

    Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend when experiencing this issue. 
    Display has no backlight or dark screen
    Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
    Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
    While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
    If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.
    Display does not adjust brightness automatically
    The ambient light sensor brightens the display when using the iPhone in brightly lit environments, and dims the display in low light. To test this sensor, do the following:
    If the iPhone is in a protective case, remove it from the case. If there is a protective film on the display, remove the film.
    Verify that the Auto-Brightness setting (Settings > Brightness and Wallpaper) is set to ON, and that the Brightness level is set near the middle of the slider.
    Press the Home button to return to the Home screen and then press the Sleep/Wake button to lock the iPhone.
    In a bright environment, cover the top third of the iPhone to block the light, then press the Sleep/Wake button or the Home button to wake the phone. Slide the slider to unlock the phone.
    Notice the brightness of the screen and application icons; they should be somewhat dimmed.
    Remove the cover from the top of the display and in a few moments the display should get brighter.

    the subject of EWS in conjunction with Lync 2013 has been discussed a lot here .
    However, I could not find here any solution for my problem and I'm (almost) at my end.
    Following scenario - 1 x Lync 2013 BE server, 1 x Lync 2013 Edge server, 1 x reverse proxy (IIS ARR). This Lync 2013 deployment
    was installed about two months ago and integrated into existing IT landscape. Everything worked wonderfully - desktop and mobile clients were able to connect from inside and outside our organization, EMS was deployed to both desktop and mobile clients.
    After that there are no any configuration changes made on Lync server, and yesterday, shortly before an important presentation
    I've found, that EWS is not deployed anymore on all desktop clients. Mobile clients, however, continue to function smoothly.
    I have tried the following: restart Lync and reverse proxy servers - without success, Lync Connectivity Analyzer shows all
    green (internal and external), all relevant tests with Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer were passed, also analysis using Wireshark brought nothing.
    I must to say that a week ago I installed SP3 for Exchange 2010 - can it may be because? Also appears more
    times a day the following error message in Event Viewer on the back-end server (language of operation system is German):

    The issue may cause by the Network Service account that the Lync Storage Service uses does not have access to the private key in used by the oAuth certificate. Please do with the following steps:
    Open MMC and add the “Certificates” Snap-in (Local Computer)
    Open Personal | Certificates and find the the Certificate being used for OAuth (use the Lync “Get-CsCertificate -Type OAuthTokenIssuer” cmdlet to find the serial number of the OAuth certificate).
    Right-click | “All Tasks” | “Manage Private Keys”
    Add Permissions for “Network Service” account (the defaults Full control and Read).
    Please also check registry key on client computer.
    If the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ Office\15.0\Lync \[User SMTP Address]\Autodiscovery registry key does not exist on the user’s workstation, then it likely means that one of the following failures
    have occurred:
    Lync was unable to locate a valid DNS A record or SRV record for the Autodiscover site
    Certificate assigned to Autodiscover site is not trusted by the Lync workstation

  • T430 gap between cover lid and palmrest

    I own a T430. Recently I noticed that the gap between the cover lid and palmrest is getting bigger and bigger (from 1mm to now 5mm, see attached photo of the comparison between T430 and T420). I have sent it in the a local Lenovo service center and they said the reset everything and it still looks the same. I know this does not affect the functionailty of the laptop but it is really bothering me to see the gap grows bigger and bigger. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Thanks in advance.

    since the last update Adobe Muse is not working anymore for me. The sites open normally but then the Master Pages don't load properly and it freezes all the time.

    1. What is the size of your .muse file?
    2 Try to duplicate the .muse file, open it, and try to reduce child pages, and see if you get some improvement.
    3. Do you have asset on Network drive, if yes, add these asset to local drive and then use them, see if that helps.
    4. Are you using Mac/Windows?
    Please let me know these details, and I will try to investigate.

  • Java Web Start Application surprisedly does not start anymore based on new JRE1.7.0_45

    Hi everyone,
    we have to maintain a self-developed Java Application which is running based on JRE1.5.0_51 (x64). Our recent client machines have JRE1.7.0_40 (x64 too) installed in addition to the mentioned (and needed) JRE1.5.0_51 (x64).
    Everything was fine up to the point where we tried to install the newest JRE1.7.0_45 (x64) as the new version for doing the web start magic. The result is that our application (which is/was unchanged!) does not launch anymore. The strange thing is that we do not get any StackTrace, Exception or something else like this.
    The startup process simply hangs :-(
    Nothing has changed (application itself, firewall, network settings, hardware) apart from the new JRE version. It's reproducible at will. If I install JRE1.7.0_40 (x64) the application starts, if I install JRE1.7.0_45 (x64) the application hangs.
    I can say for sure, that in both cases (*_40 AND *_45) Web Start is able to do the synchronizing job and to launch the application base on the correct JRE1.5.0_51 (x64).
    My guess is that in case of an installed JRE1.7.0_45 (x64), the application hangs when it tries to connect to the database (Oracle 11g) via JDBC.
    I found a little hint in the Web Start Console. Therefore I had to switch the trace level of the console to 3 (which includes security, network and basic)
    In case of an installed JRE1.7.0_40 (x64) - which leads to a running application - I will receive the following output:

    These last "network:" log entries will never stop. This will lead to an infinite loop which results in a great memory leak. I have to kill the process via windows task manager in order to get rid of it.
    Does someone out there has the same problem? Are there any new additional security issues which prevent my client to establish the database connection on port 1521?
    Any other ideas?

    Resolution: We still were not able to solve this issue! The only way to get out of this is to install the JRE1.5 as the x64 variant. In this case no switching from 64-bit to 32-bit is needed and everything is on track again.
    But this is still strange and unexplainable :-(
