  • My Creative Zen Froze and I Can't Res

After recharging my creative zen, i turned it back on and it just froze with the last song played. I can't hear the song playing, it says that it's playing. None of the buttons work. When i try to use the touch pad, I can hear the scrolling noise but nothing's happening.
I tried to go into the rescue mode from that tutorial but it didn't work. Nothing would show it and I tried many times too.
Please help me, I just bought this awhile ago.

You should be able to enter the Rescue mode. Ensure that the Play button is press and hold down. Do not release the Play button until told so. Press the Reset button using a pin/small object. Release the Reset button only. The player should be able to boot in Rescue mode and only now do you release the Play button. If you have enter the mode, choose Cleanup option first and see if it hel

  • Zen Micro frozen with the word the "Creative" stuck on the scr

Yesterday, whil listening to music, my Zen froze up (understand, I just bought this a week ago). So. I tried to shut it off. Nothing. So. I took the battery out. When I put it back in, the word "Creative" stays stuck on my screen. I've tried taking the battery back out, putting it back in. Still the same thing. So. I tried hocking it back up to my computer. It doesn't even acknowledge the device. Nothing is working. What should I do?

    Brenda,
Can you try getting the player into Recovery Mode? If it can't do that either, it's possible there is a hardware problem with the player (contact Customer Support for assistance). If you can get into Recovery Mode, try the Clean Up first.

  • Help! Zen Micro stops in the middle of rebuilding- missing half of mus

My Zen froze a few days ago. I went to reset it like I always do, but this time when it was rebuilding, it stopped about half way through.. starting making this clicking noise and then went back to the now playing screen. But now i am missing like half of my music because it won't rebuild for some reason. I am also not able to add music from my computer to it anymore. Every time I turn it off and then turn it back on it starts rebuilding but never finishes. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice? Please help!!
    Thank you!?

I think it might be. Is that fixable?
I also forgot to mention that when I hook it up to my computer it isn't says that it isn't there. It still charges but other than that it's like it's not even connected.

  • Zen V Plus 2gb - Space prob

    Hello guys,
Saturday I bought a Zen V Plus 2gb and I installed the software, loaded my Zen and tried to fill it with music.
But suddenly (by about 800mb ~ 80 songs) my Zen froze. I used the reset button and tried to fill it again. My 80 songs were still on it. But my computer didn't recognized it anymore. So I formated my Zen and I upgraded it with new firmware.
Then I filled it again - and it froze again at 800mb and my pc couldn't recognize it anymore, too.
I don't think that it is normal. What can I do? My Zen got 2gb free space but I only can use about 2/5 of it because it freezes. There is no notification like "The disc space is full", it just freezes and I have to format my Zen to use it again.
Without formating I can't fill it with my pc or with the pc of my father. So it can't be a problem of a computer. Even the record function doesn't work. Is my Zen damaged, or is it normal that I can use only 800mb of my 2gb Zen?!
I hope that someone could help me and I excuse me for my bad English :-)
    Bye,
    Lumpi

The st?8GB Zen V Plus I?bought also had this same problem. It would allow me to add?only about 7GB of music before it would freeze and even cleaning up the links from the recovery mode menu would cause a freeze. I called Creative and told them I had read that someone else in this message board?wrote about?the same problem - a "faulty" flash dri've. Creative said they hadn't heard about it and recommended that I return it to where I bought it from and simply replace it. That's what I did and my 2nd 8GB V Plus has been working great.

  • Zen Micro iss

My problem is that my computer won't recognize my micro when I try to connect it with the zen micro media explorer or the creative removable disk manager.
But it does sync with WMP0 and the free trial of Napster to go that I have. I have many songs that I ripped from CD's and downloaded from Napster on it right now as proof.
    My firmware version is 2.20.05
Will upgrading fix this problem? (I never had to upgrade like it said to for Napster, so I don't know.)
Also, I did an experiment with battery life...Letting the battery run out from being fully charged and doing nothing at all with it, it lasted 8 hours. When I use it though, I doubt I even get 5 hours. Would the firmware help this?

The exact same thing has happened to me twice.
With my first Creative Zen Micro it worked beautifully till I installed the firmware Napster told me to. After that my computer did not recognise the device and only recognised it on Napster or as an MTP Device
Then the Zen froze on the first "Creative" screen when you start it up so I got a replacement.
Now I have a new Zen Micro and the same thing has happened, it is not recognised by the computer, because of the Napster firmware.
    This is really annoying.
My mum and sister both have Zen Micros and their computer failed to recognise theirs, they too used Napster.
So I have come to a conclusion that the fault is with the Napster Firmware.
I will now re-install my software and see if that works.
I don't like installing firmware as it takes ages to put all the music back on.
I have downloaded all the possible firmware.

  • Creative Zen Mirco 8gb fro

    Hi
My creative zen froze about a month or two ago .. and i've been trying to get it to work... when the battery dies i plug it into the computer.. it charges but the computer doesnt detect the player so theres no way i can update firmware or anything to fix my freezing problem. The way it happened was while i was walking it changed to another song and then just froze there... so i took the battery out to turn it off thinking it would be ok, but from then on when its charged i turn it on and it freezes at the creative screen. I've come on the forums before to see how other people fixed their problems, yet all the ways they fixed their problems requires you to connect the mp3 to the computer. Also ii've tried to do that clean up that doesnt work either... please give me some suggestions or with a soultion thank you.

Check out the thread "Say Goodbye to My Little Friend (Zen Micro)?" located on this message board at http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=36568?for a fix that has helped quite a few people with your problem.Message Edited by Whatatay on 02-20-2007:03 AM

  • Zen is frozen, Reset doess nothing, recovery tool only updates firmware,

When I power up my zen it is frozen at the beginning of a song.
The only button that works is the power button.
    reset does nothing
Downloading the rcovery tool, only updates firmware
the internal tool does not work, when I hold down Play/pause during boot, then release,
the zen goes straight to the frozen song.
I had tried to install and Audible.com book
Is that what did me in?
    how do I fix this.
    PS
Not pleased that the only support is email,
I sent 2 emails yesterday, and have yet to hear anything.
    Thanks for helping!

I do not think that the Audible book download is to blame, because I use my ZENs also for Audible books.
When I first started to use my ZEN I also found that it froze on me, but then I took to carrying a paper clip with me and whenever the ZEN froze I just pushed the end of the paper clip into the little hole and the player would work again. Have you tried that yet?
I must say that my player seems to have recovered from this little hiccup and is not freezing up any more so that I do not have to use a paper clip.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra has no power, no

I was uploading new software for a Zen extra, and got the wrong firmware (ZenXtraP4SAudible_PCFW_LB_2_0_03.exe). I started the upgrade and the zen froze at a reboot point. I reset the unit, and now it does not give any indication of having any power (battery fully charged and ac adapter plugged in and working).
When I tried to restart the firmware update, I get a message that the zen is not connected. Can this machine be saved?
    Jimfred

If you leave the player for several weeks with a discharged battery it can either (a) damage the battery beyond repair or (b) cause the battery voltage to drop so low that it won't be recharged. For the latter situation there's advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net on what to do. But BEWARE that in certain situations Lithium Ion batteries can catch on fire or explode.

  • My Zen Micro won't Start Up!!!!!!! (Please answ

My zen froze on me when i was playing a song
So i removed the battery and restarted it but
It never goes past the "Creative Screen" and it makes a funny noise
Can someone please Help me out!!!!

One possible thing to still try is to let the ZM sit idle for 24 hours (or, in the case of the one that won't shut down, you have to make it lose the whole battery until it goes dead), meaning until the normal standby is off so that the ZM doesn't remember the last song played anymore and where it left off. That way, the OS is really started new when you switch the ZM on, it MAY make a difference.
Else ... contact support and have your player sent in.
Weird ... we are getting an aweful lot of really screwed ZMs recently here in the forum ... for many different reasons, but still ...
btw, could you two post here what firmware you were using at the time of breakdown?
    Cheers,
    Jan.

  • ZEN Vision M 3GB is Docked but not syncing

I recently had a problem when the ZEN froze and the batery draineed, I went to recharge it and found that the computer did not sync with the player.
The docking station is working and the screen is saying it is docked, is there a fix from create to fix this problem.

I have a similar problem with my Zen, it used to sync just fine but my main computer won't recognize it at all and the player doesn't go into sync mode no matter which USB port I use and on my old laptop it used to sync fine but I gave it to my kids and removed Media Player/Organizer from it and when reinstalled it the Zen goes into sync mode but the computer/software doesn't recognize it. I'm able to transfer files to my player using my new laptop which has Windows 7 on it using Media Explorer but it doesn't seem to allow me to add or remove songs to my playlists.

  • Zen MicroPhoto frozen, inopera

    Hi folks,
I am a proud owner of a Zen Vision M which I got last Christmas. I have always been pleased with it, though I wish I had gotten a screen protector, since its pretty banged up at this point.
However, my post is in regards to my wife's MP3 player, the aforementioned Zen MicroPhoto. Today, as she was walking to the train, her Zen froze up really randomly while playing an mp3 that I have on my Zen player (Pharoahe Monch's Desire). Upon looking at the Mp3 player and the website here at creative.com, we decided to run the rescue mode/reboot screen and scan the hard dri've for corrupted files by removing the battery, putting it back in and reseting the player to get to the rescue screen, where we'd hit the scan button to scan all the songs.
We pressed the button to scan the player for bad files. 2 hours later, it still was showing the same screen, saying that it was scanning. Panicking at this point, we took out the battery again, and this time tried straight rebooting. The mp3 player got to the creative screen and stopped there. It had frozen showing the creative logo.
Finally, my wife decides to reformat it while I frantically searched the forums, and the 'formatting' message is frozen on the rescue mode screen.
We do have receipts and proofs of purchase, but we'd like to see if there is any way to fix this problem at this point. I have a feeling its a hard dri've problem, since when the player is in the BIOS state (rescue screen), it has trouble whenever it accesses the player's hard dri've itself.
Is this a hardware problem? Software? Corrupted files? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks alot in advance.

So far Ive ben waiting for the battery to completely charge. Now that its charged im doing the "Disk Cleanup" and its been sitting on "Scan Disk"? for about 30 minutes. I forsee doom in the path of my zen.
If the cleanup doesent work I will do the "Formatt"witch destroy's my thousands of songs... good thing they are all backed up on my comp...
If the formatt doesent work... I guess its just... dead... seeing as Ive droped it, I cant get a new one on the warrenty. Now I guess its my little 200$ paper weight. ?:robotmad:

  • Does Zen Vision break do

I am really intrested in buying either a iPod Video 30gb or a Zen Vision 30gb, and right now Zen seems to be the one I'll buy. One thing worries me though. I have a friend that bought this Mp3 player and it broke down for her like in one week. Then she got a completly new one, and the same thing with that one. Then she got sick and tired of it and bought an iPod Video wich has worked without a problem. Also I read on these forums that others have simmular problems with their machines. I just don't want to buy a Mp3 that breaks down one week after I buy it. What should I do? Are my suspections right or is this just something that happens to a few? Thanks =)MaVeN

As far as blackop says, its true. Every MP3 player "breaks down", there is just the rate of problems. In this case, i would say buy a Zen because Ipod has MANY MANY problems, but also of course MANY MANY PEOPLE who never experienced them. On the other hand, Zen has problems too, My Zen froze once, makes a extremely scary sound once or another, and today I figured out that my Zen shuts itself off! So obviously my Zen has a few bugs to work out, so there is a chance that yours will be the same. NO MP3 doesnt break down. Amongest the ZEN problems is freezing. The ipod, however, has problems with screens, pads, controlls, settings, earphones, and even accesories. However, one can also argue that a lot more people has an Ipod, so its inevitable that Ipod has more problems. What I suggest you is buy a Zen, but be mentally prepared for potential break-downs.

  • Reformatting-Zen Micro gets st

I have had to start my Zen Mirco in safety mode as it will not start up I have tried the disk cleanup, restore, reformat but it just seems to get stuck at the point after. It does nothing so then I have to reboot it in safe mode and then the same thing. How can I get past this? Also I keep getting that error when I plug it in to my pc that it does not recognize my Zen. I do have all the latest firmware and drivers installed which it was working fine until my Zen froze up. Anyone have any suggestions? I think I have gotten this thing to properly work for a total of 3 days now since I got it 2 weeks ago.

As it's a recent purchase, if you bought it from a local shop you might want to return it there. Even with an Internet retailer you can find out first how long it will take to return it via them. Via Creative it should take approximately 2 weeks, once they receive it.

  • Creative Zen Micro(Original) Firmwar

Alright, well I've had this product for about 2-3 years now. It's worked until this point, I wanted to erase everything off of it. So I went into recovery mode. I accidently select reload firmware and now it's messed up. I've been looking around trying to download the firmware and putting it on there again. But, I open up the firmware upgrade. All it gives me "Your player is not connected, please connect your player". It is connected, just charging. I lost my cd. Don't know how to connect the player to my computer. Help?

    PhoniexBoy wrote:
The same thing happened to me, except my songs were starting to mess up and so went to the Creative thing for the Zen and reformatted my Zen micro photo 8 g. Well after that the zen froze up at the Creative logo, so i tried formatting again from the recovery menu, and it didnt do anything, after that I realized i hadnt updated my firmware since i got in in like 2006, and that may be the problem. If you know of anything to help, your kindness would be gratefully appreciated.
Does your computer recognize the player? Have you got it to go beyond the Creative screen. Did you do cleanup >reboot after formatting player. If not then do that. Don't even think about firmware update until the computer will recognize it. Firmware update for the player can ONLY be done a computer running Xp with WMP0. Your hardri've may be failing so firmware update won't help that. If the player won't finish the scan disk & rebuilding library after the cleanup >reboot then it's a clear sign of failing or failed hardri've.
