My zen Micro 6 GB won't l

Hey people I've just bought a zen micro 6gb and I was so happy with it.
When I came home I just followed all the instructions and everything did just work. I put some music on it after I charged the battery and all was just fine.
Now, after listening a few hours my battery is empty. I connected it with my computer, but my pc doesn't recognize it. I have searched all over the forums for answers, but I can't fix it.
Also, I can't use recovery mode since it only says "Low battery" in my screen when I want to turn the player on.

Im, getting the same problem with my 5GB zen micro I plug it intot he computer and it dings twice and then wen I go onto zen micro media explore says nothing is connected

  • Zen micro photo won't start & not detected anym

hello!?my zen micro photo started acting weirdly lately: even when the player's battery was fully charged, the player would shut itself down automatically a second or two after being turned on. i managed to access the recovery options and do a cleanup, but the problem was not solved. after, it started telling me that the battery was empty even after being charged for hours on my computer. (and the battery is only a year old or so). then?a few hours later, it even failed to turn on at all, and has stayed like that since. i could at least access the recovery console, so i tried formatting the dri've, but there was no improvement. i then tried to use the recovery utility found on your website, which updated the firmware to version 2.3 however, there was no difference, and the player still doesn't work. finally, my computer won't even detect the player anymore (although i have made no changes to the computer's configuration), and it won't even charge it, since it is not detected. (the player doesn't show any sign when it is plugged) so now, all i can get from the mp3 player is a "low battery" warning, and only when i try to access the recovery console (otherwise, nothing happens). any ideas?thank you !

just an update:i tried the "caveman repair method" (http://forums.creative.com/creativel...cending&page=3)and it ... worked... partially...at least the player now boots, although only to display a low battery warning...BUT as soon as i plug it to my computer, it crashesand i already tried the rear usb ports, no better, as well as 3 different computers, no improvment neithersooooo... anything else?maybe roasting it next time would help lol

  • Zen Micro Keys won't work after uploading tra

Monday night I downloaded all the firmware onto my new Zen micro and when I did that Napster finally let me start transferring all my music back to it. Everything seemed hunky dory so I went to bed while I waited for 200ish songs to transfer over. When I got up yesterday morning and turned on the Zen, Napster recognized that there were tracks on it, but none of the buttons worked. I couldn't flip through the menus or see anything except the main screen. So I left work early so that I could call Creative's customer service line before they closed. Basically the guy talked me through re-downloading the firmware back onto the Zen and then Ta-Da! all my playlists showed back up and I could flip through the menus and play the music. But he suggested I remove all the tracks and re-load them in case any of them had bug (but my though was....shouldn't re-downloading all the firmware DELETE all the tracks in the first place?) But whatever. I re-transfer all the tracks over to it and went to the movies. When I got home....same thing as Monday. Napster's recognizing that indeed, there are tracks on the Zen, but I can't navigate through any of it's menus and the keypad acts like it's broken. Keep in mind, I just pulled this **bleep**er out of the box MONDAY NIGHT.

Keys not working can't be related to Napster.
Run through the advice in the "My Zen is not behaving properly, won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" section of the FAQ post.
If this doesn't help the player is faulty.

  • Zen Micro Photo won't Start

    Hi,
I have a Zen Micro Photo and it won't start up. The creative screen comes on and that is it. I have tried getting into the recovery screen by taking the battery out and replacing it while holding the power button on. That works and I can select any option but when I select say format, a screen comes up saying formatting but nothing happens.
I have also tried to push the reset button with a pin but it doesn?t seem to do anything at all.
The item is over 2 months old so I cannot return it under warrantee. I would appreciate any help.

I have tried to down load the latest version of the software (ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe) from the creative web site but when I run it, it says that the player is not connected even though it is. I have even tried to run?the program?while the player is in recovery mode but still nothing. Is there a way of forcing the computer to see it's

  • Autoplay error. Please help- my(Zen Micro) software won't lo

I have a 5GB Zen Micro and when I try to install my software I get the "Utility for Windows AutoPlay screen has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message.
I'm running XP and have updated Quicktime (that did the trick last time).
Can anyone help? I'm sorry, I did try to go through the FAQ but I didn't see anything and I'm trying to feed my kid and pack for a trip.
    Thanks!
    Melly

I don't think so but I can't check right now-- I'm on a different computer.
I had the software installed and had to delete it to make space for something. Now I wish I'd never touched it!

  • Zen Micro 5GB Won't Turn On Using The Switc

Hi had my Zen Micro 5GB since xmas 05 and never had a problem until 2 weeks ago when my headphone jack came loose and my sound became absolutely rubbish. Found a guide on the internet and fixed the problem by soldering the joins. Now works fine. But however jus 20mins ago i uploaded some new songs to it using the Creative organizer, no problems. Unplugged after transfer completed. I listened for about 5-0 mins and then turned it off. Came back and it now does not turn on at all using the switch!!!!. The only possible way to turn it on is to use the USB cable which is frustrating when your at school or out and about. Is there any possible way to fix my problem? If so any help will be grateful?Thanks?Ben?30th March 2007 - Just taken apart the power switch, and found a small rectangular shaped clip (with 2 indented grooves in v-shapes). Has his clip got a perticular place to go and if so where?Any help would be grateful? Thanks BenMessage Edited by BenBarber77 on 03-30-200709:29 AM

Try going into Recovery Mode first, and try the options there.
Try Clean Up first. If the player still works on the PC (ie you can access it there), then you could try Reload OS aswell, and then load a firmware onto the player from the PC. Otherwise it does sound like it's faulty, there is not much I can advise other than speaking to Customer Support about a possible repair.

  • Zen Micro battery won't charge, can't turn on MP3 pla

    Hey guys,
I;ve bought a Creative Zen Micro 5GB, 3 weeks ago and it was working GREAT...until now. I was using it one night until the battery completely drained off and the Zen Micro turned off by itself. The icon "LOW BATTERY" flashed for a few seconds and the unit basically shuts down.
I tried to plug-in the USB 2.0 cable provided by Creative into a PC USB 2.0 port
. the MP3 player wouldn't start up. The blue light glowed, followed up by the intro 'Creative' screen and then it died off. That happens everytime i plugged the unit into a USB port.
    2. On the upper right screen on the unit, it showed that power is supplied by the USB port (battery + electric symbol flashing), but the battery wouldn't charge up and I can't turn it on either
    My questions are:
    a) Since the battery is dead flat, wont the unit still run/function normally if its plugged to a PC USB2.0 port?
    b) Why does my Zen Micro die off a few seconds after it's been plugged on to USB?
    c) Can't the PC USB power supply charge up my MP3 player battlery?
    Please help,
    Cheers.

  • Zen Micro - music won't trans

I have 355 songs on my Zen Micro and it says I have 55 MB space. I deleted about 0 songs and the free space didn't change at all... I think there's something wrong. ?
When I try to transfer music to my Zen Micro in Creative Media Source it doesn't work, it rips the song from the CD but when it comes to Writing it it just says Error: Unable to create file.
I looked through old topics and couldn't find this problem. Help!!
    thanks a lot,
    sam.

Did you try to delete the song with the Micro itself? You probably just deleted it from the Now Playing playlist, not from the unit itself. You have to navigate directly to the song (By going Artist->Album->Song) first and then select delete to truly erase the file.
I find that the best and easiest way to manage the music on my Micro is through the desktop software (Creative Media Explorer, WMP, or Notmad). The Micro's user interface is great for all types of playback, but blows for things like tag editing, playlist creation, or file maintinence.

  • Zen Micro 5GB, Won't turn o

    Hey guys,
I bought a zen micro 5GB back in June of 05, its obviously past the 60 day warrenty and im trying to advoid a $20 session which might not even solve my issue....
A week ago the player stopped turning off. I am able to turn it on with the power tab, play music, charge it, everything its supposed to except power it off. The only way for me to do so is to take out the battery casuing me to rebuild my library constantly.
Does anyone have a makeshift fix for this? Does anyone have a similar problem and can give me insight as to what creative can do and how much it will cost? Any other ideas?
I called support and they will not give me an estimate unless i pay the $20 phone session charge...
I still have the orig box, receipts, and information that came with the product. There is little to no wear on it as i ONLY use it to upload music from my pc then play it on a personal stereo system i have in the house.

  • 4.2gigs on my Zen micro and won't let me put any more

I have put 4.2 gigs worth of mp3s on my Zen Micro but when I try to add any more I am informed that the destination dri've is full! Why?
I am using the playsforall firmware etc etc so I can drag and drop directly from my hard dri've.
Is this the reason? Is there any way I can get my full 5 gigs of space? I don't want any of the other features on the zen, I don't want to record audio etc etc, just put my mp3s on there. Also How can I tell how much space on my zen has actually been used? I tried right click on the device -> properties but it doesn't tell me.
    suggestions?

You might want to try a disk cleanup, and format is also available from Rescue Mode. To access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro, remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position, reinsert the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
Note that the tracks will take up more space than their collecti've size, which is the nature of disk systems. But I'm not sure what space they will take up, and the cluster size on the Creative player.

  • Zen Micro 5g Won't get past Start Up Screen--He

After searching other messages, I've seen a lot of people with this same problem--player will turn on but will not load past "Creative" screen. Yet most people have been able to atleast get to the Recovery screen.
I have not been able to load into Recovery, so I can't clean up, reboot, format, or even update my firmware at all. It's only 2+ months old, so I'm within my warranty, and I suppose most people are going to tell me to send it back. But this problem really bothers me and I'm questioning whether I should even take a chance on another one, seeing as how this problem seems at the very least mildly common. What are my options at this point? Anyone have any other suggestions for trying to recover the Micro I have right now?

I found a solution to the hanging on the creative logo screen. I saw numerous posts saying that all you could do is send it back to the company, then I found this one:
    Hi All,
My zen has been down for the last week, hangs up on creative screen. I took the battery out and was able to get to the recovery mode but "disc scan" would not do anything(in limbo) and "reboot "met with the same result, nothing. If you want to talk to anyone at creative and are past your 6 month warranty window you have to pay $20 for the phone call. Well I decided to take matters into my own hands and spent yesterday morning researching old threads about this problem. I kept finding an uncommon fix. When you hold your power button on and replace you battery and the recovery screen starts up you wrap on the back with your knuckle, in my case I hit my zen face down sharply on my dresser. To my amazement the "Doobie Brothers" started playing and I have'nt had any problems yet. Evidently these systems have a hard dri've that hangs up. It may not work for you but it cured my glitch.
    Steve C.
It worked for me, but only after four or fi've tries. Good Luck!<IMG height=6 src="http://forums.americas.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-very-happy.gif" width=6 border=0>

  • Zen Micro Photo won't charge, start, or be recogni

    Hello board,
Yes, this is my first post, and yes I came here because I had a problem.
I did read the FAQ and have done a forum search, but didn't find this particular problem, so I hope you all can help...
My ZMP is about 3 months old. Yesterday I left it on and the battery died.
So I plugged it into my computer overnight. This morning it still won't turn on.
Now at work, I've plugged it into this this computer, tried all the different USB ports, removed and reinserted the battery, and basically done every obvious thing possible to get this to charge or even turn on. It will not.
The edge doesn't pulse, and the computer doesn't recognize that its attached.
So, now I'm at a total loss. Is the player busted? Is this an easy fix?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    ~Aaron

dropitdancen wrote:Would buying a new battery work? Im not all pro at this so dont take my word for this, correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt buying a new battery help? I mean your at a clean slate for one so nothing should go wrong with the battery part of your player- two im not sure if the battery can actually "die" i've heard that once it dies its dead for good-But that may be a rumor.
Ordinarily the person should be under warranty, so shouldn't have to buy a battery to resolve the issue.

  • Zen Micro M Won't Charge, Need Advice

I got a Creative Zen M from my dad for my birthday the other day, and I can't get it to do anything.
Its not charging or showing its connected to my computer. I kept getting a warning that said I was plugging in a high speed device to a lot speed USB port, so I ran out and bought a Belkin 2.0 Hi-Speed USB card for $30 thinking this would fix all my problems, but it hasn't.
I read some people here saying that after its fully charged, then it will show its connected. So I left it hooked up to my computer from 8:00pm last night to 0:30am today, and it still hasn't charged anymore then the sli'ver it came with. It will turn on and let me look through menus, etc., but it keeps giving me a low battery warning.
The lightening bolt is flashing and everything, and I don't understand why it shows its charging, because its not.
I'm at a complete lost here, and upset that I put in a 2.0 USB card, and its still not working.
How do I get this to charge?
I don't want my dad to know its not working, as he would be very upset that I'm having trouble even being able to turn my birthday present on.
I have a Dell, running Windows XP Pro V. 2002. Intel Pentium 4, 2.800 Ghz, .00 GB of RAM, with 2.0 Hi-Speed USB port. I've connected both an Ipod, and a Samsung mp3 player with no issues what so ever. And the USB card I installed does work, as I tested it on transfering from a digital camera.

    CHO53N,
Does your XP have at least service pack (best to get service pack 2). Also, try changing the player to the Removable Disk mode and see if it will charge through that way.

  • I can't get my zen micro to be recogni

we wiped the hard dri've a reccently and i installed the firmware, but it won't recognize my zen micro so i can't play the songs that are currently on my mp3 player. i called creative but he said i extended my days to ask for help so he wouldn't really help me, but he said to install everything and i did(creative mediasource organizer, creative mediasource audio converter, and creative mediasource player)but in the player section, where it normally lists PC music library, music store, my computer, and zen micro, it won't say zen micro. i'm not making myself very clear. umm, basically it won't get my songs from the mp3 player to the computer(it's plugged in) and i'm leaving the country soon, so i really need my music(i can't add music to it either) so please help me! ASAP!

  • Zen Micro - Not licensed to p

WTF does this mean? It says the above as well as the need to sync to PC...
I've had for one month now with no problems... I use napster, which i pay for, to DL songs. What happened? I can't play any songs.

So does that mean if I stop using Napster at some point to transfer songs onto my zen micro, I won't be able to listen to the songs I already transfered? Because I used the 30 day free trial that came with the zen and now I am paying for napster but if I stop using it, I won't be able to play these songs anymore? Ugh scarey!!
