My Zen Micro froze and just won't W

I've seen posts about this same problem, but I found no solution
My problem: While I was listening to a song, it suddenly stopped. I tried to press the play button over and over again but it would not play. The entire touch pad didn't work. I couldn't turn it off either. I took out the battery and placed it back in. Once I put the battery in, a screen comes up as "CREATIVE" and freezes right there. I go to the recovery menu, but none of the options helped. I would try to scan it, but the box would just say "Scanning disc..." and will not change. Finally my battery would just die. I tried to hook up the USB cord and start up the Zen Micro program, but it doesn't work. The program won't even come up. My Zen also makes a strange sound when I put the battery in.
I e-mailed Creative earlier today, hopefully I'll get a response soon.
Does anyone know what I can do? I've read some replies people have made to others who had similar problems, but I'm not quite sure how to follow their directions. If anyone can help me, please try to make the directions really easy to follow.
Thanks.

If none of the options in Recovery Mode help, then it sounds like there's a problem with the player. Customer Support should be able to help you in that case.

  • I tried to update the software for my iPhone 4S. It froze, and now won't turn off, or on, or sync.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

I tried to update the software for my iPhone 4S, 16 GB to the most recent version (8.1?).  I don't know what I was updating from, because I can't access that, but it was whatever was installed on it (I got it about a year ago, so probably 6.something).
It froze, and now won't turn off, or on, or sync with my macbook plus, which is what I have always sync'd it to.  (I backed it up and sync'd it right before I tried to update the software.)
Since it originally froze almost 3 hours ago, it shows a white screen with the apple on it and a line underneath.  When I try to sync with my laptop, it says it needs me to enter a passcode on the phone, which I can't enter because the screen is frozen.  So I'm unable to access the iPhone portion of iTunes.
I have tried to turn it off, with no luck.  I have tried rebooting my laptop and syncing, but I still get the same result.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I really wanted to wait to update the software, but I was having internet connectivity issues for the past 3 weeks, and Sprint suggested updating the phone's software.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • Zen micro connection and firmware prob

so i have a zen micro and i'm having a problem with it. originally it froze on the creative screen after working fine the last time i turned it on, so i took the battery out and did a clean up and that didnt work so i reformatted it. now it doesnt freeze anymore but when i turn it on it says firmware problem and goes straight to recovery mode. so i tried to hook it up to my computer but my computer doesnt reconize that it is there. i've never had this happen before. i tried hooking it up to another computer that i had never used the player with and it prompted me to install a driver or something but i did not have a cd or the software to install it. i dont think i ever installed any drivers or anything when i originally used the micro on my computer, i just put music on it through windows media player. if anyone has any suggestions please help

    i have the same problem

  • Zen Micro: Bricked or just lame, you dec

    Hi all,
I have a zen micro which i flashed to the old .0 non MTP firmware to have support with winamp. Anyway i decided i wanted MTP support so i tried to flash it and it got stuck on a stage "Please reboot device". I decided to switch it off myself by removing battery and it went on but i felt like it wasnt set up properly.
Anyway i went on to boot into the bootloader and select reload firmware however it went for like second then stopped and said load new firmware.
I plugged it into my PC and both of the creative apps say :Your Player is not connected, please connect ur player.
So i rolled back to wmp0 and no result, it stilll comes up as a MTP device. I think im boned.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks
    Julius

Can you mention if you're charging through the AC adaptor (on a wall plug) or through USB from a computer? AC adaptor is better (faster).
What you're describing (totally drained in one night, after switching off with or 2 bars on battery indicator) is at the least unusual, and may indicate malfunction.
Now, if you have some time left before the deadline until which you can exchange in the store, then I suggest you just test this some more. Then you can make an informed decision.
Charge the battery fully (at least 4 hours on AC adaptor). Afterwards, start playing random songs (preferably MP3 constant bitrate 28 kbps) continuously. See if you get ? 2 hours playing time. (without EX, without Smart Volume, without fast forward, ... ). That'll tell you how the battery performs on playing.
Then for the apparent draining, you'll have to just collect some more experience.
It may be that the battery indicator is just not calibrated correctly yet, because it's the first days of use. For calibrating, it's good to FULLY discharge and recharge the battery. On normal use, a Lithium-Ion battery will li've longer when recharged often (so not fully discharged at every use). But for battery indicator calibration, you want to discharge the battery fully let's say once per month or so. (see www.batteryuni'versity.com)
    good luck.

  • Zen micro problem it just says creative all the t

i am the owner of a zen mirco and ever since it went dead and i charged it it just says the creative logo on it

go through the recovery mode of the Zen Micro. Take the battery out, hold the power button, while holding the power button put the battery back in and then recovery mode should pop up. Look it up in the support section if u still need help after that.

  • Zen Micro questions and concer

Hello, I've had my Zen Micro 5gb for about 2 /2 months now and while some of these problems have been around for a while I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone else has these problems as well. First of all I have the new firmware ..0 installed it right after buying the player. Now for my concerns,
) I've noticed that I only get about 8ish hours of playback on a full charge (which is roughly about 2 hours to go from bar to full) volume between 0 and 5 and used for periods of usually an hour at a time. Most of the songs on the player are CD quality bit rate (28 is it's) and my question is, is this normal? The quoted time is up to 2 hours battery life.
    2) I have the idle shutoff time set to 5 min of inactivity and the sleep timer at 30 min. The problem that I've found and I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be, which seems strange if it is, is that when I turn on the power (and is where I want it to be so I don't adjust it at all) it shuts off after 5 minutes which I find annoying. But, I've also found that even if I move through some screens and change the song and set it back in my pocket, it still shuts off after 5 minutes, only when I adjust the volume (I still need to test this to make sure that that's what it is) does it play for the full 30 min.
    3) When the Micro starts up (while not on the 4hr standby there is?), so when it goes through the full Creative and Zen Micro screens at the startup there is a glitch where the "Zen Micro" screen stays on for up to a full 0 seconds and about 5 seconds into it there is a box halfway up the 'ZEN' where the letters don't show, I don't really know how else to explain it but I'll try "drawing it".

(It looks good writing it out, but alas the formatting doesn't seem to work posting it)
After about 5 seconds (it varies) it changes from the first to the second for about another 5 seconds. The only thing is, it does this every so often and is not consistent as to when it does it. The music starts playing while it's doing this as well. I'm also wondering if the Creative screen (without the copyright stuff) is supposed to last for a full 0 seconds like it seems to be now as that seems quite excessi've but I am not sure what the 'norm' is.
    4) I've had it freeze on the "Shutting down..." screen but taking the battery out and replacing it seems to fix that, as others have discussed.
If someone could fill me in on what's "normal" or not and your own experiences with this it would be greatly appreciate. Thank you in advance.Message Edited by Guildenstern87 on -06-2005 :57 PMMessage Edited by Guildenstern87 on -06-2005 :57 PM

. The 2 hours is based on using the player playing 28kbit/s MP3s continuously. Anything you do to the player in terms of frequent skipping of tracks, higher bit-rate tracks, downloading/uploading etc. will shorten the battery life. See the FAQ post for lots on this.
    2. Known bug.
    3. It just seems to be some innocuous screen write bug. It doesn't seem to do any harm other than look naff.
    4. Mine doesn't freeze on shutting down. Perhaps try a disk cleanup from rescue mode?

  • Zen Micro Freezing and recovery m

Hey folks,my zen micro is about two and a half years old and suddenly the other day it stopped responding and went into recovery mode. i hav clicked on clean up - nothing happens, format all - it freezes, reload fireware - it freezes and finally reboot - and i am brought right back where i started. When i?plugged it into my pc it became unstable and noticed that all my music had been deleted and the computer doesnt always recognise my zen. I downloaded a new fireware from this website and tryed to install it's but it wouldn't let me saying that there?was a program associated with the mp3 open and to close?the program?first and i dont know what that program is. this all just happened today, one day its working fine and the next i have lost everything. can anyone please give me advice. Thanks,Stephen

I have the Zen Vision M and I am having the exact same problem! I cannot fix my zen. And when I try to download the firmware from this site, the site does not recognize my zen!

  • Zen Micro Up and Died this morn

I purchased a Zen Micro 6GB player in mid-october, and this morning it was dead. The power switch would do nothing. Plugging it into a USB port would do nothing. Removing and replacing the battery would do nothing. I was able to exchange it for a new one at the store. However, I'm puzzled as to whether anything I did may have contributed to the demise of the player.
I applied the PTF firmware upgrade in order to take advantage of subscription services for Yahoo music. I had Windows 2000 running at home, and was running into the charging problem.
I had patched the headphones into the CD input of my stereo at home (using a headphone to L/R cable adapter), and while I was messing with the cables, discovered that my Tivo has usb ports. Obviously, the Tivo was not going to recognize the player, but I figured I might be able to use it to charge the player. I tried it out and it worked.
So, a couple times, I plugged my player into the stereo and the Tivo, and played music on my stereo while it charged. I had the player sitting on top of the TV, next to a shielded center speaker.
Last night I left it like that overnight, but in the morning, the unit would not turn on.
Now, I've come across the posting about putting the player in removable storage mode in order to charge it on the Windows 2000 computer (and I'm going to be upgrading to Windows XP in the next month or two), so I'm not going to try the above method of charging the new player. But, I just want to try to figure out whether anything I did would have killed it, in part as a caution to anyone else who might come up with this idea.

Perhaps charging via the TiVo, if it wasn't supplying the correct voltage and/or current. Hard to say for sure though.

  • Macbook Air froze and now won't properly restart.

I was watching a video today on my Macbook Air on iTunes. It has been working properly.
It suddenly froze and the escape key did not work. I forced a shut down.
When I tried to power it up again, it appears to start-- the apple glows on the front cover, etc. But instead of a boot, all that happens is that a small magnifying glass appeared in the upper right corner of an otherwise black screen. Hitting escape caused a "please wait" cursor to appear, but when it disappeared, nothing else happened.
I can't seem to shut it all the way down now, only make it sleep. None of the key combinations work. When it unsleeps, I'm back to the black screen with the magnifying glass.
No spills, no nothing. Any ideas? I have the idea if I could make it shut down properly it might resolve itself, but this could be just wishful thinking. Could this be a display issue?
    Thanks.

    OS10.6

    Hey Cheryl,
Within the MacBook Air users guide, I found a section that should be able to help you out starting on page 41. I copied the relevant information below, and you can find the full user guide here:
    MacBook Air User Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/MacBook_Air_Users_Guide.pdf
If your MacBook Air freezes during startup, or you see a flashing question mark, or the display is dark and the sleep indicator light is glowing steadily (not in sleep) The flashing question mark usually means that the computer can’t find the system software on the hard disk or on any disks attached to the computer.
Wait a few seconds. If the computer still doesn’t start up, shut it down by pressing and holding the power button for about 8 to 10 seconds. Disconnect all external peripherals and try restarting by pressing the power button while holding down the Option key. When your computer starts up, click the hard disk icon, and then click the right arrow. After the computer starts up, open System Preferences and click Startup Disk. Select a local Mac OS X System folder.
If that doesn’t work, try using Disk Utility to repair the disk. For more information, see “Using Disk Utility” on page 49.
If your MacBook Air doesn’t turn on or start up
Try the following suggestions in order until your computer turns on:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged into the computer and into a functioning power outlet. Be sure to use the 45W MagSafe Power Adapter that came with your MacBook Air. If the power adapter stops charging and you don’t see the indicator light on the power adapter turn on when you plug in the power cord, try unplugging and replugging the power cord to reseat it.
Check whether the battery needs to be recharged. If the light on the power adapter glows amber, the battery is charging. See “Running Your MacBook Air on Battery Power” on page 34.
If the problem persists, return the computer to its factory settings by pressing the left Shift key, left Option (alt) key, left Control key, and the power button simultaneously for five seconds.
Press and release the power button and immediately hold down the Command, Option, P, and R keys simultaneously until you hear the startup sound a second time. This resets the parameter RAM (PRAM).
If you still can’t start up your MacBook Air, see “Learning More, Service, and Support” on page 53 for information about contacting Apple for service.
    Hope that helps,
    David

  • I was restoring my Ipone  4s and it froze and just has a black screen with apple logo on, I can't do anything with it

I Updated the new Iso 8 when it came out. I lost my wifi connections so tried to update phone to the latest version of ISO and it kept saying connection lost and couldn't download. I was doing this via iTunes because I had no wifi. So I decided to restore my phone, it went through the process and then just froze with black screen and apple logo. iTunes won't find  it now. What can I do, argh

Go to this Apple support page. Scroll down to the bottom and follow the steps to put your device into Recovery mode.

  • Zen Micro organizer and Zen touch physical s

Well, I just bought a zen xtra and went through hell with it so i had to take it back and now im a little weary about getting ANY MP3 player, but i've decided im going to give it another try.
i have a few simple questions:
the organizer on the micro is very appealing to me (im amazingly disorganized), the way the site describes it makes it sound like i could pull up my organizer in the middle of class and put something like "paper due Feb22." Yet it also says that outlook is required. So do i have to be at home synced up with outlook to use my organizer or can i add/remove things in the middle of nowhere?
Also, how large is the 20gb zen touch compared to the 30gb zen xtra? i dont mean storage, im talking about physical dimensions. according to the specs the touch is slightly smaller than the xtra, but i was wondering if its shape made much of a difference
how well does the FM tuner work on the micro? can the micro be hooked up to a stereo that has an mp3 input? how much space does the voice recorder use on the micro? say i recorded a 45 minute lecture, would that be almost a gigabyte?
thanks for all your help guys!

The Zen Touch is not as big as it looks. The pictures are very decieving.
Syncing the Micro with Outlook is very easy using the sync manager. You cannot add new entries on the player itself (I don't see how you could easily even if the option was there), they'll have to be added into Outlook first.
The FM tuner on the Micro is not bad, it uses the headphones as an antenna. Reception highly depends on the area you li've in. Haven't tried voice recording yet, so can't comment on that. But a little extra is the ability to record from the FM radio.

  • IPhone froze and now won't turn on

Hello, my iPhone 3 froze so I unplugged my charger and let it die. When I woke up the next morning it was off, so I shrugged it off and brought it to school to keep it safe. When I came home and went to charge it, the battery low sign didn't pop up and it seemed like it won't charge or turn on.  My lock/off button is broken so that didn't work, and I tried around seven different chargers. Does anyone have a solution?

if the power button doesnt work not a lot of options to turn it on with or do a reset apple will do a out of warranty replace for 149$
