My Zen Nano Plus player wont switch on anym

When i try to switch on the player it does not operate (it also is no longer registered when I connect it to the computer). I've actually had two players for which this has happened...is there anything I can do or is it fully broken?
Cheers

You could try connecting the player to your PC in Recovery Mode - see the post in the sticky threads for how to do this.
When you manage to get it connected in this way reload the firmware and hopefully it will work again.

  • 1GB Zen Nano Plus player stuck in Radio mo

I have a GB Zen Nano Plus player. I use it every day, have since I got it 2 yrs ago. It has the radio feature. I switched it to radio the other morning and now it won't switch back to my mp3 music. When I push in the scroller to go to the menu, it takes me to the Radio menu and locks up. Won't scroll up, won't scroll down, can't up or down the volume, can't even turn it off... I have to remove the battery for it to quit. I have no clue what's going on. I connected it to my computer and formatted it....didn't help. Went here online and got the firmware update drivers....didn't help. I can still load music onto and play it while it's hooked to my desktop, but I can't use it any other way than radio when I'm using it solo. Any ideas?

Make sure to reflash the firmware in recovery mode (see instructions on Creative's support website), and also let the updater format the data area. If that doesn't work it's probably a hardware failure, I'm afraid...

  • Does Zen Nano Plus player is discontinued produ

Does Zen Nano Plus player is discontinued product and?will no available anymore?
Message Edited by STREAM on -08-200709:03 AM

In the end, the choice is really yours. Personally, I would stay clear of discontinued products because it would normally mean that something new is coming up. However it does not necessary mean that the new models would have the same features as the old. What I believe is that the Zen Stone Plus is a sort of a replacement for the Zen Nano Plus.

  • My Creative Zen Nano Plus doesn't switch

First when I purchased this Mp3-player it worked quite well, but when I tried to change battery when the old one was empty, it didn't work anymore. I can't switch it on. I wonder if it's because of that I tried different battery than the one I get with this Mp3-player when I first purchased it's Does anyone know can I use Philips batteries or must it be duracell? Or does my mp3 player have some kind of different problem? I even tried to call those numbers which gives information about Creative products, but no one answered.Maybe I'll try to call 'em later.

They must have been talking about a different player such as the Zen Micro which does recharge via the USB port.

  • Creative Zen Nano Plus Firmware Problem, AGAIN! (PeeBee HEL

    Hi all,
I am new here and have read all the posts and FAQ's but couldn't solve my problem. Actually there is a post http://forums.creative.com/creativel...d=68923#M07024 which tells exactly my problem. Have tried the solution but didn't solve it.
So I am here asking again.
I bought a zen nano plus GB and downloaded the latest firmware(ZenNanoPlus_PCFW_LF__0_03.exe) and the latest mass storage driver (MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe). When I put the player in recovery mode as the firmware is detecting devices the player takes it self out of recovery mode and back in mass storage mode how do i stop it from down that?
I am trying to update it because my player doesn't play wma files :angry:I have tried PeeBee's solution but it didn't work. I have taken the battery out, reconnected it and it is recognized in recovery mode. I run the firmware and the computer plays a sound, the icon of connection appears in the nano's lcd and it is out of recovery mode. Then firmware program tells me that the 'device state is not set' and after that the message 'put into recovery mode before updating firmware' Aaaaaarrrrrghhhh!
I'm also running windows XP SP2
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you in advance

    Hello-
I had a similar situation develop. Did your error message say, "Media state not initialized?" Here is what the creative support site says:
If you receive a message "Media State is not initialized ..." while updating firmware for a MuVo or Zen Nano Plus player, it will be necessary to install the Player Recovery Device driver and then update the firmware.
. Download the latest driver if you have not done so. You can download it from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads, and file name is MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe.
    2. Install the latest driver by double clicking on the file name.
    3. Unplug the player from a computer if it is plugged.
    4. Remove the battery from the player (except Zen Zeeon which has a built-in battery).
    5. Press and hold the Play button while connecting the player to the USB port.
    6. Continue to hold the Play button for about 0 seconds after connecting your player is connected to the USB port.
    7. Keep on holding the Play button till Windows displays the Find New Hardware dialog box.
    8. If this is the first time a player is installed as Player Recovery Device, Windows will find a Player Recovery Device (or USB Device), and prompt you for drivers. Click on No, and select "Do not search. I will choose the driver to install". Windows will install the drivers automatically.
    9. Double click on the latest firmware upgrade file that you have downloaded previously, and follow the instructions on the screen.
    0. Format the player if you are prompted to do so.
It is recommended that you stop your player properly before physically disconnect it from your PC.
To stop your player in Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows ME
Click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Taskbar, click Safely remove USB mass Storage device, and disconnect your play when you are prompted to do so.
To stop your player in Windows 98SE
Make sure that the icon below appears on the LCD screen again for at least fi've seconds before disconnecting your player.
Now, I did all of the above and still got the error. What solved the problem finally was to connect (using the above method - remove the battery - hold the switch, etc) to a DIFFERENT USB port. Then all worked well, and the firmware transferred. Don't ask me how or why.
    Good luck.

  • Downloading a book on CD to my Zen Nano Plus mp3 pla

Does anyone know the best way to download a cd book to my Zen Nano plus Player?
    thanks
    pejid

I have a MuVo TX FM for audio books, but I imagine the procedure would be the same for your Zen Nano.
There may be faster/easier ways, but this is what I do:
I use the "Free CD Ripper" (http://koyotstar.free.fr) to rip the CDs to MP3 files on my computer. Each disk's files are stored in a separate folder. I use the book name and disk number for the album name (e.g. Book Title 0). Go to the configuration screen to set the file name to be Album - Track (%A - %N). I find ripping at 48Kbps is sufficient for my ear and it saves space. After that, I can just copy the folders to my player and listen. On my player everything is played in alphabetical order, so the above naming scheme works quite well.
As an improvement, you can use MP3 Book Helper (http://mp3bookhelper.sourceforge.net/) to rename the tracks from "Track 0" to include the book name, disk number and track: "Hobbit 0-05". On my player there is about 6 characters of space available for displaying the track name while playing and it is nice to easily see where you are in the book.
Finally, note that some Creative players have a 40 folder and 500 file limit on what they can detect/play. So you need to be careful not to overfill your player. It won't hurt it, but some files and folders won't be playable. To fully use the space available, you could use an MP3 Joiner to combine the files together in order to stay under the limit. At this point I haven't bothered with this step since I can still store two books without exceeding the limit.
    Good luck,
    Doug

I went ahead and updated it anyway. One little thing I noticed was now the volume only goes up to 25 like my Zen Touch instead of 40 or whatever that it did before. Same loudness, different numbers only. Other than that, I have not noticed anything different, but it seemed to work OK scrolling through a song with the old firmware. I did not, obviously, do a detailed comparison.

  • Zen Nano Plus Installation Er

Hi,Just bought a Zen Nano Plus player for my sons Christmas and have discovered that when I load the installation CD on my PC the following message appears:?The Windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product?I'm running Windows 98 SE on a Pentium 3 with 640MB of RAM and according to the minimum system requirements listed on the box this should be supported for the Nano plus. Any ideas?

Creative have changed the specs and now say you need XP to run anything!?This thread outlined how to install the software on Win 98 so should work for you on Win 98 SE. PB

It's getting harder to find devices that still work with old operating systems, but you could try installing this driver:
    Filename: MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe
This download contains an improved version of the drivers found on the Installation CDs for Creative MuVo?, MuVo USB2.0, MuVo TX FM, MuVo N200, MuVo V200, Zen? Neeon, Zen Nano Plus or Zen Nano players.
    Requirements:
    * Microsoft? Windows? XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition or Windows 98 Second Edition
    * Available USB port (version . or higher)
    * Creative MuVo, MuVo USB2.0, MuVo TX FM, MuVo N200, MuVo V200, Zen Nano, Zen Neeon or Zen Nano Plus player
    * To install the driver, do the following:
. Download the MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe file into your local hard disk.
    2. Connect the player to your computer.
    3. Double-click the driver file and follow the instructions on the screen.
Instead of using the Creative software on the CD, you could just use Windows Explorer to drag and drop you songs to your Nano Plus.

  • Zen Nano Plus wont play for more than 5 seconds at a ti

I recently bought a new Creative Zen Nano Plus and thought I was getting a good reliable product. It synced in WMP like it should but when I unplugged it from my computer and tried to listen to the songs it will boot up and start playing a song but then shut off 3 seconds later. I formatted it and updated the firmware and drivers on the player and my computer but it still wont play for more than a few seconds at a time. I tried changing the battery and leaving it plugged in but neither of the above worked. I would appreciate some help. Thanks.

Same issue with me - only mine won't even power on now...
I am waiting on reply from customer support...

  • Zen Nano Plus--Nothing happens when I try to rip from my cd player to the Zen Nano pl

Please HELP!! I just bought my Zen Nano Plus last week(st mp3 player I ever owned). I've tried to rip cds from my stereo to the Nano but nothing happens. The encoding bar appears but shows no progress. Could I be plugging the cord in the wrong place? I plugged it in where you would normally plug in headphones into the stereo. Any suggestions?

I did get the line in connector, however, the only place it fits into the stereo is where you would normally plug in the headphones and that's where I plugged it in. As I mentioned earlier, the status bar does not show any progress when I press the play button.

  • Problem with Creative Zen Nano Plus 1 GB mp3 player please r

I bought zen nano plus? month ago and while i was transfering music into it it crashed ,? it looked like its no more readable so i disconected it from my pc , it needed format , i did format and tried to transfer some music again but the same problem appeared . I thought the memory card of the player is damaged and needs to be changed or repaired? , i gave it to customer support and after a few days they said they installed newer software version to the player , well i thought it will fix the problem . Once i got home i tried to transfer music and it crashed again , i couldnt even format it cause when i plug in the mp3 F: ( usb dri've ) does not respond. I gave the mp3 to customer support again , they filled up the mp3 with music six times and everything worked fine. But at home it still crashes while transfering , so i dont know what to think . On the packet where the mp3 was when i bought is written WORKS WITH WINDOWS VISTA ,?currently i have windows xp ,? can it be that i can only transfer music without prloblems with windows vista ? can it be that zen nano plus is created to use with windows vista ? Thanks for reading !

Did you install the driver on your PC? If not, then do it. Try reformatting the player as FAT. Next try tranferring a few folders full of mp3 files. Use windows explorer to drag and drop the folders? with files to the player. Now see if the player will play them.

  • Zen Nano Plus wont play mp3 fi

I cannot get my Nano Plus player to play mp3 files. I have reformatted the dri've but it still will not play them. This includes home-made mp3 files with no rights issues. When I transfer files to the Nano Plus and try to play them they simply will not start playing. Instead of the triangle "Play" icon, there is a solid square "Stop" icon in the display and the timer stays at 0:00. I have played some of these mp3 files in the past but none of them will play now.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,

  • Zen Nano Plus - Dead after 20 minu

Just received my player this morning. Connected and transferred a couple of albums via windows explorer. Disconnected and had a listen, sound was ok. Reconnected to add some more music. Paste operation froze windows explorer, safely remove hardware button did nothing and the only option was a hard reset. Now player wont switch on at all, not even a logo screen and pc doesn't recognize it so cannot reflash the firmware. Most disappointing.

Thanks for the tips shellshock. I spent quite some time yesterday trying to bring the player back to life to no avail, so its now winging its way back to Amazon.
    Basically it went something like:
: 8am. Grab parcel from postman and unwrap excitedly
2: Plug player into spare usb port, my 64 bit OS recognised it straight away as a 'Zen Nano Plus' so no additional driver install necessary which is just as well because there doesn't seem to be one for 64 bit versions of Windows
3: Open windows explorer and copy two folders across to player as with any UMS device (Supertramp and Erik Satie no less)
4: Unplug player, have a listen for a few minutes and farmiliarise with the menu operations and manual
5: Reconnect player to PC, which again recognizes it correctly
6: Attempt to copy and paste a further folder of mp3's to the player using windows explorer at which point onimously the hourglass mouse cursor indicates work in progress without any sign of a progress bar appearing to indicate files in transit (the player does however display a data transfer in progress animation
7: After a couple of minutes ctl-alt-del clearly indicates windows explorer (and hence the data transfer operation) have stopped responding (my pc it should be noted has a respectable spec, was built last summer is not crash prone for no reason)
8: Bollocks says I, this is not quite going to plan. Forcing the process closed via task manager and attempting to use the 'safely remove hardware' function in the system tray locks the computer up totally forcing a hard reset
9: The Nano in the meantime has stopped displaying the data transfer animation so I unplug it from the PC and power it down thinking 'oh well, hardware is known to crash occassionally, i'll need to recopy the files after a reboot no doubt'. Hah, I should be so lucky.
0: Nano now refuses to start full stop. Not even a logo. Removing and replacing batteries minutes later as recommended has no effect, holding down the power button for over a minute has no effect, different batteries have no effect
: The PC now seems to think the dead Nano is a 'STMP3500' (i'm guessing this is the chipset used by the player) and furthermore wants drivers to match. Downloading latest drivers from Creative is useless as they are only 32 bit and will not work with Windows XP 64bit, so the PC is now having none of the dead Nano
2: Attemping to activate the emergency reset by attaching the Nano to a USB port (various ports tried) whilst holding down the power button for 20 seconds or so (several times) proves futile as all my PC now wants is drivers for a goddam 'STMP3500'!
3: Latest firmware from Creative does run ok but totally fails to find the player
4: 3pm. Player is unceremoniously re-wrapped with curses into its packaging and marched to the post office for despatch to Amazon's returns department for a refund
My guess is that the failed data transfer managed to wipe or corrupt the player firmware. I'm sure all computer users are used to system crashes now and again, but they certainly wouldn't expect to have to buy new hardware each time it happened. Creative R&D department should maybe revisit the way the Nano's OS is written and protected.
After all that i'm still searching for a decent mp3 player but can find none to match the spec of the Nano at the price. Reviews of cheaper alternati'ves indicate poor battery life and questionable sound quality. Iri'ver T30 doesn't support UMS so thats a no go.
All in all a pretty negati've experience. Perhaps I was just unlucky, maybe once the refund comes through I might even give the Nano another shot, especially as the price has just dropped again by about 3 quid on Amazon......
