I've had to return a Sleek becuase of dust too. It doesn't matter how many new Zen Sleek's you get, they'll all get dust under the screen. When I got my second one, the FIRST thing I did was wrap the whole thing (except for the headphone socket and usb sockets and the touchpad) in clear tape. I find you can still use it perfectly and the tape really isn't noticeable unless you look closely. This is probably the best thing to do. Canned air didn't work for me. I've only found dust speck under the screen since getting my new player and it's because of the tape.
One of the truly useful accessories lacking for Creative products are protecti've skins. People shouldn't have to resort to covering their player with tape.

  • How do I get dust out from under the scre

I have a Zen Sleek and there is vey noticable dust under the screen. It's very annoying. It may have gotten in through the edges of the screen. I've searched the forums, and people are talking about this "canned air." Where can I get it'sMessage Edited by Ryche on 03-2-200602:53 PM

I had the same problem. Used can of compressed Air, and it did nothing more than scatter the dust all over the screen as opposed to the corner it was in. I even was able to peal back the screen front a little to get the straw from the canned air under the screen. Still did nothing. This is the 2nd played Ive had with this issue, the st player was exchanged due to this issue. I would also like to point out that I called creative tech support and they supposedly have no knowledge of this issue, although on every single review site you look the sleek up on, that is the most common complaint. I'll also add that I sell these devices where I work and Ive heard some customer feedback, and they too have the same complaint. Any ways Ive searched far and wide and it seems the only other solution I have is to rip off the screen shield and clean the LCD directly. Now if I was to do that I'm then presented with the issue of getting it back on without glue damaging the LCD. I know this is a long rant but if there is any one who actually read this whole thing and has some advice, please let me know. Thank you very Much

  • Dust under the zen Touch'es scr

I was wondering, whether I could make Creative take a look at my player, because there is dust under the screen. I mean, could this be a warrenty service issue? I asked already Creative customer support in Germany ( e-Mail), but it will take longer because of the weekend and some fests in the beginning of the next week, so I hope I could get some hints hier too. I has been 45 days since I have it and it is getting more and more. It is quite annoying to look at it. I do not want to experiment removing it alone, as I could damage the player and void the warranty; what is more important is that I would like to have a permanent protection against dust.
By the way is this normal? I did not observe any dust under other peoples' players. Nobody is posting smth aboout it, so I presume it is just me.
    Thank you

    Plam mk
Here are some links for you its not just you. As you are in Deutschland I would suggest that you may want to return it to the shop you bought it from and ask for a replacement if you feel it is excessi've.
(that is far more straightforward than dealing with a manufacturer) As for protecting it from dust I intend to buy a unit in the next couple of weeks so I would be interested too in preventing this problem.

  • Did any buy a 4th generation iPad with speck(s) of dust under the screen?

Purchased my first iPad at a local apple store on launch day, noticed a speck of dust under the screen. Had it exchanged and then found another speck of dust under the screen once again. Went back and wanted another exchange, apple store employees were nice enough to allow me to open two additional iPad. I did a thorough check of each and noticed dust under the screen on both. Wasn't allowed to open anymore iPads so, I was given the option to exchange mine or return it. I decided to keep mine as there was only one speck of dust under the screen. Has this happened to anyone so far?

I wanted to upgrade to the iPad 4th generation as well.  I have been through four (4) of them.  ALL FOUR (4) had readily visible dust under the glass.  Three were from the Apple store here in Santa Barbara, and one was from the Apple store in Santa Monica.....so not all from the exact same shipment, although possible all came from the same batch at the factory.
There is fine white dust all offer the interior packaging materials when you open these up....which is not a problem....but then there is always a speck or two of white dust UNDER the glass.  This is totally unacceptable for a high-end product that costs $700+ from accompany that goes on and on about how exceptionally high their quality control standards are.
The Apple store staff have been fantastic to deal with throughout this.  It is proof Apple stands behind their products and claims of high quality.  However, the fact that four out of four brand new iPads had the same defect (immediately seen by two techs at the Apple Store in every case) indicates the standards are sliding...at least at the factory.
The fact that I received four out of four iPads with this defect doesn't mean I am unlucky....it likely indicates that thousands of these shipped to North America...or at least California....have this defect.  I just noticed it.
And anyone who says "that's just how all iPads are" is wrong.  I am typing this post on my iPad Generation 3 that came out of the box with no dust under the glass.
This is a major quality control issue with the new iPad 4 and Apple needs to address it.

  • I have a problem with dust on the monitor (iMac 27).

I have a problem with dust on the monitor (iMac 27). it appeared after half a year of use (in a clean room is not dusty). Replaced by a matrix of times under warranty. But after a while, again, there were shortcomings in the upper corners of the matrix. The guarantee is no longer valid. Am I entitled to free replacement of the matrix or the display?

Re: I have a 27" iMac that has developed smudges at top left and right of the screen.  Of course it has just gone out of warranty. Anyone had a similar problem or found a solution?

  • Dust under the LCD cover, sticky/non-responsive keyboard..

    Hello,
I've been trying to find information on this.
I purchased this phone, outright, from Bell when they finally started selling it a couple of weeks ago.  Since then, the phone has aquired a large amount of dust under the LCD cover (and continues to do so).  The keys sometimes "stick" or feel like they cannot be pushed down (but are registering).
I contacted my carrier, Bell, over the phone and the CSR told me to go into a local Bell store to get it checked out.
I went to my local Bell store and a worker there told me that I can't get it exchanged and that I should just open the phone myself to clean out the dust and check the keyboard.
    Is this right?
They're telling me to void the warranty on this brand new phone regarding problems I'm having with it.  Does anyone have any tips on what I should do about this?
My previous phone (which was a Pearl 8130 that I had for 3 years) didn't collect any dust under the LCD screen and had no keyboard issues.

your warranty and support is through your carrier you need to be firm and explain it better to them your issue. You should not have dust on the LCD so soon with a new device (unless it is damaged) as for sticky keys, i never had a sticky key with the hundreds of devices we have unless some one spilled something on it. If it is a factory defect, again you have to get this taken care of with your carrier and they are the first line in warranty support.
    Good Luck.

  • Dust under the screen....

Does anyone know if you can have apple remove the dust under the screen if you are under warranty? Like will they service the iphone for that? And if they do, do you know if they will completely replace the iphone, or will they just remove the screen and fix it?
    Thanks

Roaminggnome is right, it's a case by case basis, but as long as you have not abused the phone, it's more than likely you can get a replacement, but don't quote me on that. They will replace the phone if they decide to--they don't do cosmetic work. So, what I'm saying simply is--maybe, maybe not--make an appointment with a Genius at an Apple Store to see. If they will, they'll give you another iPhone.

  • Dust Under the Screen and Case Cracks

    Hey guys,
I am the proud owner of an iPhone 3G S, and love the thing to pieces. I've had it for 8 months now, however over the past few weeks, I have become slightly disappointed with it.
Firstly, a small crack appeared above the 'Silent On/Off' switch, which I don't understand how it appeared as the phone has never been dropped or bumped. It's only very tiny, but I'm a perfectionist and not particularly happy about the fact it has appeared by itself. I treat my phone like royalty.
Then today, I realised a tiny white fleck on the screen when running an app. At first, I thought it might have been a dead pixel, but it turns out that it's a fleck of dust under the screen. How did it get there?! And it's not the only fleck either. When I turned the screen off, there appears to be at least 3 or 4 tiny flecks. They aren't obtrusive to the screen, but annoy me as, like I said before, I'm a perfectionist.
Am I still within warranty at 8 months? And if I am, would Apple replace my iPhone if I was to return it? It was purchased from O2, so would I return it to them, or Apple directly?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I finally took my device to the Apple Store today. Due to having dust beneath the screen, as well as the crack, it meant they replaced the whole unit, rather than just the screen, which they would have done in the event of just dust.
If anyone else has any issues, I'd highly recommend taking it to a Genius Bar. The staff were so helpful, and no questions were asked really.
    Well done Apple

  • New iPad with dust under screen

So I just got a brand new today. Boot up the gorgeous screen, go through the setup, reach a white screen and...
Nice big old piece of dust dead center on the screen. Tried cleaning it and rubbing it to no avail.
I know Apple is usually pretty good with sending you a replacement but should I expect a long wait for my brand new iPad I received today. Should I expect to wait 2-3 weeks for a new iPad or does apple usually expedite issues like this?

I've also had way too many instances of dust under the screen. I've probably looked at at least 7 new iPads now and each one had dust under the screen (and the only that didn't have dust had a cluster of dead pixels!). After the first instance I made sure to open each new one in the Apple store and the sales associate or genius bar member with me each time agreed that there was foreign material under the screen and that I shouldn't accept the problem if it bothers me (which it does considering how much money I'm spending on the iPad). I currently don't have a new iPad because I'm sick of buying and returning them and a genius bar member suggested I wait a few weeks to see if the manufacturing is improved (he didn't have any inside knowledge suggesting Apple would be tweaking the manufacturing but just suggested it could happen if Apple discovers that dust under the screen is an issue).
All of my issues were with the 64gb Verizon model. Are people experiencing dust problems with other models as well?

  • New iPad..dust under the glass screen ?????

After buying the new iPad 32GB 4G from your branch here in Saudi Arabia, I was shocked to discover some dust under the glass screen. When I returned to the showroom, they refused to replace it and claimed that it is normal for all iPad products to leak in dust and is not a damage in the unit. I believe it is not acceptable at all for a SAR 3000+ devise to allow dust to come into its internal chipsets (with all the damage this might cause). I am sending this as a complaint against the local reseller with request of immediate replacement.
    Please advise

Same problem on my 9320 Blackberry Device (left side, USB plug). It's very annoying, moreover there were no bump that could cause the problem, and there are more and more dust under the screen. Is there anything I can do ? Or can I send it to repairment ?

  • Can I get my iPad cleaned from dust under the screen at the Apple Store?

I have an iPad that I have purchased early last year. My warranty on the iPad is up and I have realized there is dust under the screen. There is a newly built Apple Store at a mall in my city. I am wondering if I could visit the store and request a technician to open my iPad and clean the screen, if it's possible they can do that. If I can, will there be a fee? If not, what other things can I do?

No, they will not be able to clean it at the store. They will likely only be able to offer a replacement at a substantial cost (if that). Based on what you have described, unless you are far wealthier than me, you get to live with it.
