MY ZEN V PLUS HAS FROZE HEL

HI EVERYONE,? I SURE HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME!! I? love my little player and take very good care of it . But this morning when i went to turn it on it started up ok? then it got to the zen vplus screen then it froze. i tried to turn it off but it wouldn't power down so, i? hit the reset button and that did the trick. But it froze up again. i tried ot connect it to windows to see if i could undo it that way but my computer said that there is no device. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

See the 'Recovery Mode' sticky at the top of the forum.
Try 'Clean Up' first.
Then, if that doesn't work try 'Format'. **THIS WILL REMOVE ALL CONTENT FROM YOUR PLAYER**
Finally try reloading the firmware. Get a copy via the 'Support' link at the top of the page.
EDIT: If you haven't got the content on your player backed up, try updating the firmware first, then do the format.Message Edited by daytona955 on 06-4-2007:4 PM

Hi can someone please help me, my v plus display has a horizontal line across the screen and it really ruins everything. Can this still be fixes? Would anyone know this problem or had the same experience?

I have had similar bugs. If your player is still in warranty, your best bet would be to contact the store of purchase or Creative, explain your problem and ask for a replacement.

OK.
What happens when you connect the USB to a PC?
Do you see a dim blue light fading up & down behind the Play & Back buttons (it's very dim & hard to see in daylight)?
If you see blue light, but the screen is black, leave the USB connected for an hour, and make sure that your PC does not go into standby. Then check the player again.
(I'm wondering if the PC went into some sort of power saving mode, and left the player to completely discharge its battery...)
Also:
Is the PC a laptop?
What version of Windows are you using?
What version of Windows Media Player is installed?
Did you install the Creative SW that came on the CD?

• Creative Zen V Plus Backli

Sup all!?I really hope it'ss not defecti've but for the past week it seems to be losing its display power (most likely called the Backlight). It's almost to the point to where I can't even see the display. The Backlight seems to be burning out (If possible). I reset it 4 times and it'ss still real dim.
?I checked the contrast and it'ss at 00%. I even tried moving it up and down but as soon as I take it down from 00% I can't see it at all. It says in the online V troubleshooting to go to system/Backlight and then adjust it. Well My Zen V plus has the system folder and then a folder called player settings and that?s where I find the contrast but no where does it have a backlight setting.
I?m disappointed since I just got it for Christmas and I only use it at bedtime. The battery is still holding a good charge (So I think anyhow). I?ve charged it full a couple of time of the PC to try to get the backlight problem fixed but no go. The play/pause and the back button still seem to be lighting up just as strong as when I got it. No scratches or marks of any type on the LCD screen, like I said though it'ss been treated good. I?ve never taken it out of the house and the only time I use it is at bed time.
Thanks for any help.

• Zen Stone Plus Speaker. Browse music without starting the first song in the next fold

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure what I want is possible.
I've had this player for about a?week now and I believe I could browse to the folders while listening to a song. For some reason when I do that now the player?start playing the first song of every folder when I browse through it.
I'm starting to doubt if I remember it right that it was possible to browse through while listening to a song before?
I tried playing with the setting and even did the recovery tool thing to put the player back at the setting it came with. But it didn't work.
Anyone know if this is posible, and how?
Thanks.

• Zen Stone Plus Firmware Wishl

I have a Zen Stone Plus 4GB and I think it's a really nice and sexy device, but is lacking a bit on the software side. With just a few small firmware modifications, I think Creative could make it a much greater player.
I'm starting a wishlist for a future firmware. The list is sorted by priority, with the (imo) most important item on top. If you have any additions, please post them and I'll include them into the list.
I hope Creative's developers will have a look at this list and implement these suggestions!
Improve music browser speed
Problem: Browsing through the folders feels very slow, and often it even misses button presses so I have to press left or right twice to go to the previous / next item. This is most likely because the player starts playing the first track in the folder automatically, which slows down the user interface.
Suggested solution: I suggest the ability to turn off auto-play in the file browser.
Avoid embarrassing situations
Problem: Usually I turn on the player before plugging in the headphones. The player realizes that the headphones aren't yet plugged in and plays back music over the speaker, which isn't desirable when I'm in a lecture that isn't over yet.
Suggested solution: Make auto-play on turn-on an option or add an option to not enable the speaker when the headphones aren't plugged in.
Quick Hold
Problem: I want to put the player into my pocket and want to quickly turn on the hold feature. For this, I need to press: Menu, Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Right, Menu.
Suggested solution: Add "enable lock" as an option for the "My Shortcut" button.
Quicker turn on
Problem: When I turn on the player, I have to hold down the menu button for 4 - 0 seconds (it seems to be random) before the display even lights up.
Suggested solution: Make it turn on after one second.
Pocket usability
Problem: I'm listening to music with the player in my pocket. I want to skip forward to the next track. I press the forward button, but nothing happens the first time, because the first button press disables the screensaver. I press it again and it skips to the next track.
Suggested solution: Make it skip to the next track when the forward button is pressed the first time.

Tag support: the ability to select music by album/artist/track instead of folders
Display always on option - i know its to help save battery life but sometimes it would be helpful if the display stayed on

• Creative Zen V Plus Prob

Hello guys, I have a problem which I have no idea how to resolve.
Usually when I rip CD's from Windows Media Player I copy and paste it into my players?library and the album art shows on my Zen V Plus when I play a song from that particular album. However recently, when I try to copy and paste an album?I get the message:
Pictures transferred to this folder cannot be viewed on your player.
Do you want to transfer 'AlbumArtSmall.jpg" to the pictures folder for proper viewing on your player?
I have no idea why this has happened. I have tried changing settings but nothing is working. Can anyone tell me whats wrong and how I can resolve this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Rich,?Just for your information, have tried loading firmware - and it has had no effect. Basically, the Zen V Plus has a fault - which Creative seem unwilling to recognise. In my case, as I bought in the UK from Amazon I am legally entitled to a full refund under our Return of Goods Act. It seems that in the States they don't have such a recourse to law - which frankly astounds me. Goods should not break down within such a short period from date of purchase!

• Zen V plus not recognised by computer and rebuilds library every time it is switched on

My zen V plus has been working ok but just yesterday it stopped being recognised by my computer. It also rebuilds the library every time I switch it on. I wonder if I may have disconnected it prematurely when it was docked and transferring data. I have reset it but no difference. Any suggestions please.

My ZenV plus finally gave up the ghost. Blank screen and wont power up also wont reset . This was a great little player and I got them for the kids too so went and bought myself a new Zev Style 100. I have downloaded the Setup but whereas the V was ajoy to manage on line ( so simple) I cant see how to create and manage playlists with the style . can anyone help? There also seems to be a way of creating playlists on the player itself but so far I have managed to type in and create a playlist title but cant fathom out how to transfer songs into it.
this is all very frustrating . HELP!!

• Zen Nano PLUS - Firmware Broke My Ze

Please help me .
I have read through countless threads here looking for the answer on what to do when...
...your Zen Nano Plus is passed warranty, you install the latest firmware, and your player is no longer readable by your USB ports.
Before I tried upgrading the firmware it would detect it as what it was -- a Zen Nano Plus. Now, however, I plug it in and I don't even get a notification that Windows detects it even so much as a generic device.
Everyone says: Revert back to an older version of firmware.
Question: HOW DO I ACCOMPLISH THIS WHEN ) I CAN'T TURN MY PLAYER ON AND 2) IT IS NOT BEING READ WHEN I PLUG IT IN?
Sorry about the caps, but I feel Creative is about to let me down after all these years. Did I waste money on this thing or is there an actual solution that works?
My friend's dad had this exact same problem. He took it back and exchanged it for another Zen Nano Plus and it did the same thing agan.
Thanks in advance.
PS - Thanks to Creative for being acti've in these forums and trying to help their customers who have given Creative their hard earned money that they earned working at a job.

IT WORKED!!
PeeBee you are the man for your post in this thread:
http://forums.creative.com/creativel...d=279272#M6263
All this is Creative's doing, though, for their lackluster support for their own product. In one thread they specifically say Zen Nano Plus has no recovery mode. Why does it take non-Creative staff such as yourself to call them out and help with these issues? My friend's dad had to take time out of his day to dri've back to Best Buy to exchange it (TWICE). If only Creative would administer care in their own product support then threads centered around Creative's MP3 players being beat down by their own firmware wouldn't have over a thousand thread views each by people looking for retribution for a piece of junk they think they wasted their money on.
Thank you, PeeBee. I, on the other hand, am investing in Apple next time due to lost faith, faith that has been religiously stood by since the beginning days of Dr. Sbaitso. If this thread gets deleted rather than replied to by a mod, admin, or Creative staff member then it means I'm right.

• New Mp3 Zen V Plus with Vi

My zen V PLUS has no firmware because it was curropted and wouldnt load... and it wont connect to my comptuter what do i do?

I have the same problem that Vista won't recognize my Zen Plus. I have tried every thing I could think of and nothing works. The recovery tool didn't work.
Vista won't even put up that disconnect icon in lower right. and Creative Media Organizer won't see the Zen Plus either.
I think Microsoft and Creative should get their products to working together...........but they are making money and we are wasting our time trying to get things we have paid for to work.
Does anyone at Creative know how this Zen Plus will ever work with Vista?
Should I listen to the Creative e-mail support and return my Zen Plus?

• Zen Nano Plus connection problems - SOLVED (1/2/06)

I recently bought the Nano Plus. On first installation everything worked fine. I decided to upgrade to the latest drivers and firmware via downloads from the Creative site. At some point during the firmware upgrade, everything seemed to hang. Eventually I had to halt the process, disconnect the player and reboot.
When I plugged the player back in, it is detected as a USB Mass Storage Device, but Windows Explorer and the Zen Nano Plus Media Explorer both claim that the device is not connected.
Here's what I have done so far:
)Uninstalled all drivers and Creative software, rebooted, reinstalled drivers/software, rebooted. When plugging the player in, a brief window pops up saying Zen Nano Plus has been detected. This is followed by USB Mass Storage Device being detected (this window stays up a lot longer, sometimes more than 5-0 minutes before disappearing).
2)Another uninstall/reinstall, but this time with a registry cleanup in between. Same result.
3)Tried installing installation cd on partner's laptop and plugging in the player. Absolutely everything works fine. So it's not my player. There must be something I still need to do on my desktop to get everything to work again.
4)Have also tried plugging into every USB outlet on the desktop. No change.
My system:
Windows XP (sp 2)
3.2 GHz
Intel 865 chipset
2 GB RAM
My Zen Nano Plus is currently running .0.03 firmware (latest).
On this desktop I am running the latest drivers (Creative Mass Storage Drivers .07.00.250)
When the player is plugged in, device manager shows no problems. Under Disk Dri'ves, Creative Zen Nano Plus USB Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2535.0). Under USB, USB Mass Storage Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2600.0).
I have tried manually updating these drivers to anything listed in the Creative folders upon installation, but it does not detect anything. When I check the drivers listed on the laptop that works with the player, these same driver details show up.
Any advice would be appreciated. I certainly would hate to only use my partner's laptop every time I want to update my music. I am also frustrated and puzzled as to why my player first worked on my desktop and now doesn't.Message Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2: AMMessage Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2:2 AM

lcvdw wrote:Can you tell me what I am supposed to see if it is connected properly?
With your player connected and View, Devices by Connection selected in Device Manager navigate through as follows:
Advanced Config and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
->Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
-->PCI Bus
You should then see a series of USB Host Controllers that you will have to click through in turn to find the one your player is connected to.
Underneath each controller should be a USB Hub, and then devices are listed beneath the hubs.
For my N200 I have USB Mass Storage Device, Creative MuVo N200 USB Device then Generic Volume.
Your entry should be similar but with Zen Nano Plus instead of N200.
While you're there, right-click on the entry for the hub attached to your player and select Properties. On the Power tab it will show how much current the port can supply and in the Attached Devices list it will show how much power the player needs. In my case the hub supplies 500mA and the player needs 00mA.

• Zen V Plus, froz

Hey I left my zen v plus, 4 gig, connected to my computer for the whole night because I didn't want to wait for all my songs to download before I went to bed. Anyway, in the morning I disconnected it and started checking out my new song lists to see how things worked out. Everything worked fine untill I went in this folder and then tried to go back to the main menu. Now the screen is frozen, i've tried to power it off and it doesn't work. I also tried to reconnect it to the usb to see if i could control it from the computer or something but when i opened up the zen v plus application for browsing the media it told me that the v plus wasn't connect. I left the thing at home, hoping it dies down and then i can recharge or something but i'm thinking i might have to get a replacement. Has anyone had this problem to? Any suggestions??Also, what is the best procedure to disconnect it from your computer?Message Edited by sniahcire on -27-200606:39 AM

Did _you_ try fixing your buggy firmware so that your customers don't have to reboot their mp3 players? My kids just got Zen V players and they have hung several times in the past two weeks.
How about providing some useful information:
. How do we find out what firmware version we have?
2. What firmware versions have the hang bug?
3. When can we expect working software?

• Creative Zen Nano Plus Firmware Problem, AGAIN! (PeeBee HEL

Hi all,
I am new here and have read all the posts and FAQ's but couldn't solve my problem. Actually there is a post http://forums.creative.com/creativel...d=68923#M07024 which tells exactly my problem. Have tried the solution but didn't solve it.
So I am here asking again.
I bought a zen nano plus GB and downloaded the latest firmware(ZenNanoPlus_PCFW_LF__0_03.exe) and the latest mass storage driver (MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe). When I put the player in recovery mode as the firmware is detecting devices the player takes it self out of recovery mode and back in mass storage mode how do i stop it from down that?
I am trying to update it because my player doesn't play wma files :angry:I have tried PeeBee's solution but it didn't work. I have taken the battery out, reconnected it and it is recognized in recovery mode. I run the firmware and the computer plays a sound, the icon of connection appears in the nano's lcd and it is out of recovery mode. Then firmware program tells me that the 'device state is not set' and after that the message 'put into recovery mode before updating firmware' Aaaaaarrrrrghhhh!
I'm also running windows XP SP2
Can anyone help me?
Thank you in advance

Hello-
I had a similar situation develop. Did your error message say, "Media state not initialized?" Here is what the creative support site says:
If you receive a message "Media State is not initialized ..." while updating firmware for a MuVo or Zen Nano Plus player, it will be necessary to install the Player Recovery Device driver and then update the firmware.
. Download the latest driver if you have not done so. You can download it from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads, and file name is MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe.
2. Install the latest driver by double clicking on the file name.
3. Unplug the player from a computer if it is plugged.
4. Remove the battery from the player (except Zen Zeeon which has a built-in battery).
5. Press and hold the Play button while connecting the player to the USB port.
6. Continue to hold the Play button for about 0 seconds after connecting your player is connected to the USB port.
7. Keep on holding the Play button till Windows displays the Find New Hardware dialog box.
8. If this is the first time a player is installed as Player Recovery Device, Windows will find a Player Recovery Device (or USB Device), and prompt you for drivers. Click on No, and select "Do not search. I will choose the driver to install". Windows will install the drivers automatically.
9. Double click on the latest firmware upgrade file that you have downloaded previously, and follow the instructions on the screen.
0. Format the player if you are prompted to do so.
It is recommended that you stop your player properly before physically disconnect it from your PC.
To stop your player in Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows ME
Click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Taskbar, click Safely remove USB mass Storage device, and disconnect your play when you are prompted to do so.
To stop your player in Windows 98SE
Make sure that the icon below appears on the LCD screen again for at least fi've seconds before disconnecting your player.
Now, I did all of the above and still got the error. What solved the problem finally was to connect (using the above method - remove the battery - hold the switch, etc) to a DIFFERENT USB port. Then all worked well, and the firmware transferred. Don't ask me how or why.
Good luck.
