Myblackberry tips 'setup personal email" situation getting out of control

I would like to draw any ones attention who can do something helpful about this unfolding situation in the `setup personal email` tip area of myblackberry, users are becoming increasingly disgruntled simply because they can not setup their personal email..
Primary reasons i see for this:
No Data allowance on their phone plan
BIS not registered
BIS holds incorrect IMEI/PIN
BIS holds stale account information
ServiceBooks not correct
BES enabled handset
== shed load of confusion for less technical users
Users are going to these tips in the first place when things are going wrong, they need to be here on this forum but the link is not that obvious on blackberry.com
these 6 issues are driving users crazy just take a look.. I have endevoured to help but I am not a great teacher..and the posting capability of the tips area is useless... and in fairness the original tip is totally useless to people in this scenarios.

  • Cannot setup personal email; missing icons and setup options

OK, I just recieved a used (although wiped) Blackberry Curve 8310. I'm super frustrated with trying to set up my personal email address. I'm college educated and pretty intelligent, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get my Gmail account to run directly from my **bleep** smartphone, without having to resort to Google's Gmail app.
I've tried to follow a lot of the online documentation, the user manual, etc., but the contents of my phone deviate from that of the intructions. For example, Google's instructions for setting up IMAP on your Blackberry instruct you to go into the Blackberry Setup >> Personal Email Setup. Personal Email Setup does not exist on my Blackberry, only the option to set up enterprise email. Fail.
Blackberry's own site instructs the user to either click on the Email Setup icon on the home screen (don't have said icon) or run the setup wizard and select "I want to create or add an email address" (no such option exists in the setup wizard, just an option that reads "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.") Fail x2.
Further, I've set up my Gmail account through the Blackberry site, but apparently that didn't do much of anything. Fail x3. I've also then sent "service books" to my device in desparation. Fail x4.
I've also gone into Advanced Options >> Host Routing Table >> Register Now, and I've waited over an hour to something... anything good to happen. Again, I've been disappointed. Fail x5.
I'm running the Blackberry OS 4.5. I'd like just like the ability to use native, basic email.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
As per the above, you likely do not have an adequate data plan from your carrier. Contact them to find out about gaining a data plan from them that will enable the Personal Email option on that screen. Or -- if you indeed already are setup by your company for Enterprise email, it may be that they restrict the use of personal email accounts on corporate BBs.
    Good luck!

This happens to me regularly on ubuntu 14.04 with a Dell e7440 ever since I got it.  Looks like a software bug.  I'd be happy to help debug any way possible? (past arch user)
Specifically, I'd describe the behavior as the cursor jumping around incredibly quickly while randomly clicking the middle button, resulting in spammed pastes.  Clicking the middle button myself usually gets it unstuck.  The touchpad is disabled, and I use an external mouse at work with no problem.

  • Help needed: can not setup personal email account

I just got a new BB8900 without a data plan.  I tried to setup my gmail account througn setup wizard-> email setup, but in this window,I only see the option of " i want to usa a work email with blackberry Enterprise server", but I don't see" I want to create or add an email address".
I am not sure whether I did somthing wrong when I first turn on the phone, but now I don't know how to setup a personal account.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To be able to use integrated emails, internet, and other things, you need The Blackberry Data Plan...even a generic data plan does not give you everything. Without any data plan, well...
If you want services, you should contact your carrier to enable the services that you desire.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Brand new Galaxy III S - Cannot setup Yahoo email - 80201: Getting Token Failed Error

I got my brand new phone; logged in/set-up account with gmail.
I added my corporate email just fine.
Adding a yahoo email I get the following error: 80201: Getting Token Failed Error
    I've tried over wi-fi and on 4G.
Also, it doesn't matter what email and password I put in - same error.
Note: I had a Galaxy S previously with Yahoo email - this isn't the first time I've configured an account.

Same issue cannot create email accounts using the Email app - 80201: Getting Token Failed Error with Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail. Any Verizon support people here? Can you help?

  • PERSONAL EMAIL not getting to device

This all started yesterday when App World wasn't recognizing my password which I KNOW was correct - even reset it like 4 times. THe phone didn't even trigger the security swipe after the 10th attempt like it was supposed to. I had to do a security swipe twice to be able to get into App world. I restored and  I set everything back up. I noticed my email account was gone so I set it back up. When clicking the envelope icon it opens the mail box. I noticed I wasn't getting any new emails so I tried sending one. Said "Messenging Services are not set up" blah blah and took me to teh Wizard where there was my email account setup already setup. I have been on the phone with ATT for probably 3 hours and they can't fix it. All the things, rebooting by taking out the battery, powering down, deleteing the eamil on the phone, and/or on the BIS url and adding it back, sending the Service books, reregistering the phone - none of it worked. My email is through Comcast and was nothing overly difficult. It is configured as they show for pop3 mail. So I restored my old email messages from a backup that I had thankfully accidentally created yesterday morning. All old my emails are back, After setting up the email account AGAIN is has a little number 1 under the email account icon. I can SEND emails that arrive at destination and on my comcast account and in Outlook on my computer, but don't make it to my phone as incomig messages. ANd the outgoing take a LOOOOOONNNG time and have to be resent but finally go. I am still not able to get incoming email to the phone. I am HOURS AND HOURS into this and very frustrated. They told me to call Blackberry>
    Has anyone had

I've been careful to make sure I was sending private messages and I'm sure that happened since they are not showing up on this community site. But to make sure, I just now went to the private message link you gave me previously and posted a new message. After I clicked the blue Send button, I got the message: "Your private message has been sent." This new message is now listed with my previous private messages and they are all showing "Not Yet Read."  In my last message, I gave them the domain name and IP address that is getting blocked.

  • Setup personal email on 8707g

    Hi
I have an "old" blackberry 8707g from my previous work and I got it unlocked.
I 'm trying to add my personal hotmail account but when I go into  email set -up the only choice I have is
1- I want to use a work email account with a blackberry Enterprise server
2-I want to skip email set up
What is the way around this?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Fans on my Quad get out of control

This is the second the fans in my quade start spinning irregularly. I put my computer to sleep and the fans started spinning really fast and made lots of noise. None of the buttons or keys would wake up the computer. What is causing this?

    Hi there.
When fans spin-up fast it usually means your system is having trouble with something & the fans will spin fast as a default.
Have you added anything new to your system, or even something a bit out of date - old drivers etc?
Have you tried all of the standard maintenance stuff, permissions, daily/weekly/monthly scripts, single user mode (fsck), PRAM reset, PMU Reset, open firmware reset etc? If you have try your Apple Hardware Test CD or invest in Disk Warrior or Tech Tool to analyze your system.
You could try booting from a different volume/drive like the Install CD (dunno if you can sleep a Mac on Install CD though) to see if its your copy of OSX or your Mac's Hardware. Or even boot in Safe mode (hold shift Key at boot) to start-up on just a basic system.
    Hope some of this helps.

  • Can't get personal email set up...never had this problem on BB before.

Hi, I have a new personal email address @zenbe.com that I desperately want to add to the email accounts on my bb. For some reason, though, this one is proving especially difficult. Each time I try the setup and it fails, I get an email to the account (accessed from my laptop) with the subject 'blackberry internet services instructions for configuring an email account', and I'm doing everything it says to do! I've never had this problem before--have been a bb user for years. I also tried to log on and do it manually from my laptop but either the server is down or it isn't accepting my information. When I enter my email address & password (or not, tried both ways) and press enter/next, it does nothing. Tried from mozilla, explorer, and google chrome. I'm not sure what the problem is but I'm super frustrated.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

looks like its supposed to be either imap.zenbe.com or pop.zenbe.com
have you gone the manual way and enter those servers in?
    do you get an error?
have called tmobile to get access through my.t-mobile.com and tried from there?

    Hi StuNYC,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? Take a look at the article below, it provides suggestions that will resolve most issues that  cause an alert like that to appear in when starting the Mail app.

  • Accidentally deleted the Applications folder and Personal Email Setup icon

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8320.  I managed to delete my Applications folder, and also managed to delete the "Personal Email Set Up" icon from the BlackBerry Setup folder.  I don't have a backup of my device that I can restore from (stupid, I know).
My wife also has an 8320, so I took a backup of her device--she still has the things that were deleted from mine--and I'm trying to restore them using the Advanced restore feature of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, but I don't know what to restore to get these things back.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Whew. Thanks for the response.  You rock!  (I also book marked that page for future use. They should tell you about that gem...)
I originally set them up on the Blackberry itself via the setup wizard (email setup step).
Note- At first I went to the link on my laptop and it didn't work (entered my PIN and IMEI#s and got an error saying I could not access the my device via an HTML browser).  So go via device it you have this problem.

  • Storm 9530 Personal Email Setup Option not there

I recently just bought an unlocked Blackberry Storm 9530. I am new to the Blackberry OS. I put in my SIM card and texting and calling works fine. I am trying to use my Yahoo email on the device but I cannot configure it. When I go into Email Setup, there is no option for "I want to create or add an email address" but only "I want to use a work email account with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server". I don't have an Activation code so I am look for the option to add a personal email. The problem is that it is not there to select. What should I do?

You need a specific BlackBerry data plan on legacy devices. If you do have it, then for some reason you didn't get the service books. If you don't, then once you add it you will receive the service books and then have the capability to set up Internet email.
Contact your mobile service provider. Either add the BlackBerry plan if you need it or else have your service provider check your account if you are supposed to have the plan already.  And your provider can resend service books if that is what is needed.

  • Don't Have Personal Email Setup Option

When I go to to "Email Setup" in the "Setup Wizard" on my 8100 Pearl, I only have one email type option that says "I want to us a work email account with Blackerry Enterprise Server".   I don't get the option of selecting the "Blackberry Internet Service Email Options" which is the option I want so I can use my personal email Pop3 type email.

    Dear Sir,

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

  • I have a personal email calendar kept on Outlook, I also have an Exchange calender on outlook.  I want to sync both calendars with my Iphone 5 /6.1.2  but ITunes only sees the exchange calendar. How can I get Itunes to see both calendars

I have a personal email calendar kept on Outlook 2010, I also have an Exchange calender on Outlook.  I want to sync both calendars with my Iphone 5 / 6.1.2  but ITunes only sees the exchange calendar.
How can I get Itunes to see both calendars?

    Hi,
you don't need MobileMe or anything fancy. I personally sync my Outlook calendar and my Outlook address book with three computers (two at the office and one at home)and besides I run Office 2003 on one, Office 2007 on the other and Office 2010 on the third, so it can't get more complicated than that, but it works 100%.
First sync Outlook with iTunes on one computer, having done that when you try to sync it to another machine, iTunes will recognize that it is synced with another computer and ask you if you want to merge the data, say yes, That's all there is to it.
It does not work for music as you rightly say but as far as Calendars and Contacts are concerned it's flawless and transparent.
If you hit a snag talk back to me.
    Cheers.
