MyDAQ USB unknown device

Hey,
there are a few posts on this topic, but none of the mentioned fixes solved my problem. Especially this thread http://forums.ni.com/t5/Academic-Hardware-Products-ELVIS/myDAQ-recognized-as-USB-flash-firmware/td-p... describes a quite similar problem, but the workarounds won't help.
My device (myDAQ) worked a few days ago. No mayor (as far as I remember) changes were made neither on the system (Windows 7 / 32bit) nor on the device itself. Teh device also works fine with other computers.
Now, it is only recognized by windows as "Unknown Device" (in the Device Manager).

Though, it doesn't matter which USB-Port on the Laptop (Lenove ThinkPad T420) I use.
In the NI MAX, the device completly doesn't occur:

As I mentioned I tried all the things mentioned in the thread from above, but with none success.
I also tried the NI Troubleshooting-Thingie:

I tried like four diffrent myDAQ-driver versions: (9.1.1f, 9.1.2, 9.5.5, 9.7.5 (perhaps I miss something here, I might lost track..))
all with the same result in the Troubleshooting-Thingie.
Here are some further system information of my computer and installed NI-Programms on the state I know the device worked once: (deinstalled LABVIEW- took quite long- and newly installed LABVIEW from CD):

Hey loik,
I'm glad to hear you were able to get it working.  Do you know if you were using the USB cable that came with the myDAQ?
I remember I use a (super cheap) 3rd party usb cable with the myDAQ and it didn't fit quite right.  It connected and powered the board but the myDAQ would not enumerate in Windows.  Switching to a better USB cable solved that problem for me.

  • Unknown device - ipod nano fine - problem with windows xp and usb root hub

Greetings all. I've seen this question come up over and over again and have been working on it following previous posts and posts on microsoft and hp sites for a couple of days now.
First off - the ipod nano is fine. Works on my son's computer well.
When I plug it into my 6 months new HP Pavilion laptop it says: 'found new hardware' and goes through the process of installing it, says it's been installed, but then shows 'unknown device'. In Device Manager it tells me there are no drivers installed, but when I try to follow the other instructions on this forum to update the drive to USB mass storage device (usbstor.inf), it tells me the best driver is installed and won't do it.
Many seem to have this problem with devices other than the iPod on Windows service pack 2 so I went to the Microsoft forums and they seem just as puzzled. I've updated all my Windows & HP software to the latest possible versions. The problem is definitely in the USB. Once, when I uninstalled the USB device and then rebooted the computer with my iPod still plugged into the port, it found my iPod, correctly identified it, and for a blissful moment I thought everything was fine! Then it reinstalled the USB drivers and made a comment to the effect that I should move the iPod to a USB 2.0 port for more effective operation and the iPod disappeared again.
I have 3 USB ports on my laptop, all are USB 2.0 and all 3 have the same problem.
I've tried all the stuff people have already said on here...does anyone have any NEW ideas? I'm hesitant to take it in for service because it seems to be a software problem that should be fixable.
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry about the long post.

This isn't a solution, but it's something I just tried and it may provide someone additional clues about's going on. I too think this is some sort of USB problem.
I have 6 USB ports. Two of them are USB 2.0. Since I applied the 03-23 update my computer hasn't recognized my nano at all. I would connect my nano and I couldn't get it to show up in My Computer, in iTunes, or on the far right side of the Start taskbar.
I just tried plugging my nano into the first USB port of my USB 2.0 pair and left the second 2.0 port empty. I then rebooted with the nano attached. Viola - I get a "Found New Hardware Apple iPod USB Device" message. My nano is now flashing "Do Not Disconnect." A small removeable storage icon with green arrow now shows on the far right side of the Start taskbar. If I click on it (like you're going to eject it) the note displayed says "Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device - Drive (F:)".
If I go into My Computer, "Removeable Disk (F:)" now shows there. However, if I try to follow Trevor's instructions in another post to "go into My Computer with iPod connected, right click it, wait till the right click menu comes up (could take a few minutes); click Format, . . ." I'm stuck. I do the right click, watch the hour glass and wait for the Format menu to come up but it never does. Eventually the hour glass just goes away. No message, no Format menu. The waiting hour glass just goes away.
My computer isn't as new as yours, but like you I am completely current on maintenance.
I'm going to keep trying . . . If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

  • USB Ports - Mass Storage Devices - Unknown Device

    Model: Satellite A135-S2276
    OS: Vista
I recently tried plugging in my media card reader that I've had for several years now and has worked many dozens of times.   Windows responded with an 'Unknown Device'  response.  I thought this was odd, so I changed and tried each USB port.  To no avail the device wasn't recognized.  I tried it in another computer and it worked fine.
I began to try two other mass storage devices that I know used to work, up until recently, on the laptop.  Both now are 'Unknown Devices'.   I now have a strong feeling that someting was wrong with windows vista.  So I search around and find methods to force the driver (inf) cache to reset which should reload any corrupted drivers.   Tried many methods, nothing worked, same results.  I saw that Vista Service Pack 2 just came out, I installed that hoping that it would fix.  Nope.
I gave up on it being a software issue after I did a fresh reinstall of the OS and with the base OS with no other software installed same results.
Is there a way to diagnose if the USB is malfunctioning from a hardware standpoint?  Is it possible the USB, even thought windows recognizes it, is dead on the motherobard?  If so, how do I get this fixed?  Motherboard replacement?
    Help!!

It sounds like it is working enough that it can recognize that soemthign is plugged into it.
You say you did a fresh install of Windows.  Did you use the recovery disk or a retail Windows copy.  If oyu didn't use the recovery disk then maybe you are missing a driver.  Best woudl be to use the recovery disk.  If a USB mouse doesn't work after that then the hardware has an issue.  Assuming the BIOS is OK.

  • HP G60-630US Notebook - Webcam is unknown device + USB device not recognized pop ups [update]

My webcam and everything was working fine last night. I even used my webcam on the new yahoo I had installed a few days before. When I got up this morning and turned on my laptop, I kept getting pop ups every 3 minutes stating USB device not recognized despite not having anything plugged. I check out device manager and see an unknown device and Imaging Devices missing. When I try to go into youcam, it tells me that the cam isn't detected.
My laptop is  HP G60-630US Notebook PC, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.
There were no changes made last night. Although after all this I tried removing all of the usb and rebooting, but nothing worked. I am still getting the frequent pop ups. PLEASE any help would be appreciated.
Update: I just ran the Bios update and instead of unknown device, it says USB composite device
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Try this
Use device manager to manually install the webcam driver, Open Device Manager, right click on the unknown image device and select "Update Driver" then "Browse my computer for driver software", then "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" then click the "Have Disk" button, then click the "browse" button, browse to "C:\Windows\inf" folder and find "usbvideo.inf" and select it , then hit OK, drivers should load.

  • Iphone 4s is an "unknown device" and iphone 4 works just fine on my USB Hub.

Okay so for as long as I can remember I sync my iphone 4 using my belkin powered usb hub and all works just fine.  Now, since I have had my iphone 4S, my computer will not recognize the device when using my usb hub.  It works just fine when pluged directly into a usb on the computer itself.  Why does 4 work but 4s does not?  Any tips for me to try?  Says something like unknown device or not recognized in a little popup in my system tray when I connect it.  Thanks.
    Win 7 64-bit
    Erik

I found I was able to get around it too in a different way.  I found if you disable the usb hub device in device manager, plug in your iphone or ipad while it is disabled, then enable the usb hub in device manager it works fine.  So I actually ended up writing a little script with an icon on my desktop that I just double click when I connect the iphone and it quickly disables and reenables it for me. I am still not exactly happy with this solution either.

  • Creative Zen 8Gb-Unknown Device!

Creative Zen 8Gb-Unknown Device!? Player: Creative Zen 8gb
    Firmware Version: .20.02e
OS: Win XP with Service Pack 3 (Unknown Origin)
    Windows Media Player: Version .0.572.545
    Motherboard: ASUS P5Q PRO
My problem is that when I connect the player to my computer it is recognized as a Unknown Device and listed as Unknown Device in the Uni'versal Serial Bus Controller of Device Manager.
There is no yellow triangle, there is no section for Portable Devices. It simply registers as Unknown Device.
There is no apparent way to synch with the device. It does not show up in Creative Media Explorer, Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player.
The Original Creative CD installation package does not detect it.
The newest Creative XP installation package from official website does not detect it.
The newest Creative firmware installation package from official website does not detect it.
I have tried several USB slots from front and back (am using back mostly) and short black USB cable (0s long) as well as another USB cable. All USB ports are 2.0.
The player charges normally when connected to the computer and works perfectly for listening to music etc.
Help please! Im poor as hell and will go insane without this player :/

When I connect the Zen, that is where the change happens in the Device Manager trees. It is not recognised as Creative Zen, Portable Device or even a device with a yellow exclamation triangle.
In other words, when I plug in the player, that is how it is represented in the Device Manager trees. As an Unknown Device in the USB controller section.
For your information I have tried this player on 3 other systems.
    Laptop A with Win XP/Service Pack 3/WMP
    Laptop B with Win XP/Service Pack 3/WMP 0
    Laptop C with Windows 7
    RESULT IS ALWAYS SAME.
    UNKNOWN DEVICE!
The player works fine in and of itself and charges normally when plugged.
Please confirm what are the system requirements for Firmware Version: .20.02e which is the currently installed version on my Creative Zen 8GB

  • Mydaq usb connection - lost immediately

    Hello,
I just recieved a mydaq, and am having troubles getting it connected. The process I followed, was install the supplied software (labview, NI-Elvis, NI-mydaq drivers), and then plugged in the usb mydaq. It is found quickly, finds driver successfully, and then immediately disconnects. The blue light on the unit stays lit as long as the USB is plugged in.
After unplugging, and replugging in the unit, I hear an audible sound from windows 7 confirming a new device has been connected (same sound as when plugging in a USB drive), and within 3 seconds, another sound is heard, (same sound as when unplugging usb drive).
When I load the ELVIS application, and try to take a DMM measurement, under the Device dropdown box, it says No supported devices. But, when I plug in the myDAQ, "No Supported Devices" changes to "myDAQ1....." for a brief second. So, it looks like its being found, but loses connection immediately.
I may have a defective unit, but unsure. Does anyone have any recommendations on making the DAQ maintain a usb connection

    HI,
Just  to  let  you know  of  my experience. I  had  the  same problem as you . It  kept loosing connection  and  making  a sound every time it lost  connection, very frustrating.
The  fault  was my own making . I used a USB cable  that was not  the  original and was longer  than  original.
    Works fine  now

Need help finding out what happened to my phone and what I can do. After trying to update my iPhone 3GS to IOS 5 my phone will no longer work and is an unknown device to any computer. It is like it wiped out everything on the iPhone and has no hardware or data on it. At the end of the download and update of IOS 5 it said there was an error during the process and gave me no option but to push ok and know phone is not working. What was the error number?  That would be very useful since the following gives actions for various errors.

I have read the previous articles and tried the solutions but I continue to get the result "Windows has determined that the driver software is up to date" I continue to get the error noise when I plug the USB in and the Device manager continues to say "Unknown Device" It seems others are having this problem, how do I fix this?

I am having the same trouble with mine, and I can say that it isn't iTunes, I plugged my brothers iPod Nano in and it worked like a charm, but when I plugged my iPod Classic 160g in all it says is it is an "unknown divice". It isn't Vista either as the same thing happens on XP Pro as well, so all I can think of is it is a error on the Classic itself. I just wish someone can help out so that I can use my ipod!!!! Come on Apple!!!! Solve this problem!!!!
