Myphone (My iphone) refuses to sync up.

First problem I'm running vista. Okay, here is what happens. I plug in my iphone and itunes sees it. When I do anything to sync to it itunes, it crashes and windows informs that “itunes has stopped working.” I get a system tray icon that leads me to believe my DEP has stopped it from doing something. I've done a few full reinstall of everything and multiple system restarts. Is there a way I can narrow down on the culprit? I've read that a web cam can cause things like that, how can I find out? Or better yet, how can I sync my iphone?
and thanks everyone!

Whe I tried to sync today iTunes came up with the message "The iPhone … cannot be synced. You do not have the privilege to make changes" and iPhoto with the message "The iPhoto library is on a locked volume. Reopen iPhoto when you have read/write access, or reopen iPhoto with the Option key held down to choose another library". Rebooting the Mac and resetting the iPhone failed to solve the problem.

  • Iphone refuses to sync to my laptop

I recently have come across that I am unable to sync my iphone to my laptop. It used to work perfectly and then bam it refuses to work. I just got a new harddrive put into my laptop about a month ago, so I'm unsure if that is causing the problem. I also can not sync wirelessly, due to the lack of bluetooth on my lappy. What do I do?

In that case, repair your original iPhoto library:
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and repair the library.
If that does not help, quit iPhoto, back up your iPhoto Library, and remove the iPod Photo cache, if there is such a folder, see:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
If all fails, back up the iPhoto Library and rebuild it as described by Old Toad:
Re: iPhoto has crashed on a number of occasions, but on 2 occasions also seems to delete several events, including the one I'm editing. When I go to reimport the last event, it shows them as already there. But I can't find them.

  • TS2529 Iphone refuses to sync from latest backup...?

The music on my phone stopped working besides select purchased songs and my notes, bookmarks and reading list were also deleted recently so I decided to restore my phone in a bet that it would help. It did in that way, but refused to restore from my latest backup and now will only sync with an old backup from a month ago... I just want my photos, etc back.

Try placing your iPhone into recovery mode. If successful, this will require restoring your iPhone with iTunes.

  • IPhone refuses to sync(via itunes)/install apps(via appstore iPhone)

    Hello everybody,
a week ago I recieved an Iphone (3G) that seemed broken, it didn't even start.
Well after some tries I managed to get it working (updated it to 3.0 now).
The problem now is that it won't sync properly... after a song or 6 it freezes. I tried an other pc (no macs in my house :/) and both the pc's had a 2.0 usb port.
I don't think this sync problem is related to the usb port because if I tried to dowload and install some apps from the app store, it begins downloading (OK), but then when it's installing that freezes too. After restarting my Iphone the app logo is gone too. And how could that be related to any usb ports? Maybe it's a combination of problems, I don't know.
I tried finding an solution, but it seems no one had those problems combined.
Ow yeah this is what I already tried:
    -Other pc
    -Other usb pot
    -Other usb cable
-Reïnstall Itunes (8.1/8.2 beta/8.2 all tried them)
    -Reset Phone
    -Restore Phone (both pc's)
-Restore Phone in DFU (both pc's)
-Sync in little amounts (works sometimes, but this still isn't normall)
-Trying to sync iphone running on diffent firmware
If you have questions about my situation, just post them.
Someone who experienced this? Does someone know a solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Yoda

Unlucky enough for me, I think it's possibility 2 :/ My iPhone/Itunes still crash while syncing after reauthorizing my iTunes account.
I have maybe another possible cause of this problem though. The back-up file which I used to reload my info on this iPhone was from a 16Gb iPhone... This is a 8Gb iPhone. Is it possible that that's causing syncing problems?
But I'll probably have to take it to the store, only downside is that I'll lose my phone for about 4 weeks because the service in Belgium suck for the iPhone.
Anyways thanks merryone for your response.

  • IPhone refuses to sync

All of a sudden, when I sync with iTunes, my phone will just display that it is charging, not syncing, and I can use the phone freely.
On iTunes, it gets up to the backup stage but just stops in the beginning of it. If you cancel the backup, it goes to install a new application and gets about a quarter of the way through.
So far I've only tried a full reboot on phone and computer.

I am also getting the same issue
When i connect my iphone i get the message "Sync In Progress" On both the iPhone and in iTunes, however after about 20 seconds the iphone's screen goes to the normal Charging screen, i then get the apple in the iTunes screen, but in devices im getting the sync icon spinning next to the iphone.
Im using 2.0.2 and itunes 7.7.1 on 10.5.4
    *EDIT*
Ok i disabled automatic sync when iphone is connected, disconnted the phone, quit/relunched itunes, connected iphone and clicked on sync, seems to be syncing now, the iphones screen still says Sync in Progress after 5 mins. Will report back with results.

  • IPhone refuse to sync some of my .mp4 files

I have made some mp4 video clips using iMovie. Most of them could sync to my iPhone with no problem.
However, my iPhone reject some of them with a message saying: "xyz.mp4 is not copied to the iPhone because it cannot be played" or something like that.
I have made many mp4 files over the years from DV source, I couldn't remember if I changed the resolution, codec, fps choices differently in some of them.
How can I find out why the iPhone is rejecting some of my mp4 files? They were all created using iMovie 5.
I assume iMovie 8 would have a preset preference settings optimized for iPhone or YouTube etc. When I use iMovie 5, I have to hand pick some of the setting values without knowing whether they will make a difference at the target device in terms of the video quality.

If you do a Ctrl-I in iTunes and look at the summary you can tell what the various parameters are.
In general the rule of thumb is:
    1) No more than 640 (height can vary depending on widescreen, but no more than 480)
    2) Data rate not greater than 1500 (and it's far better to err on the lower side -- even rates approaching this can sometimes not play).
I encode all my stuff at around 1000 total data rate, and it plays fine even on the 38" screen using component inputs from the iPhone. If you have stuff that exceeds this you can right click and "Convert to iPod" in iTunes and that should clear it up.

  • My iPhone refuses to sync with iTunes, please help?

I think I've done everything I've seen online so far. That is to say, I've uninstalled iTunes, downloaded the newest version, switched up USB ports, restarted iPhone and computer... I really don't know what else to do. I'm new to the apple world and loving it aside from this issue. I have Windows Vista, I hope that isn't a problem for the software. I can't upgrade that, unfortunately.
My dad says I need to back my phone up but I can't, of course... so I would really appreciate some tips! It's making me nervous about the backing up thing and anxious what with the dangerous lack of music on my phone!

It's not that I'm nervous /to/ back my phone up, I'm just nervous that if I don't, something bad may happen to it. lol
And iTunes isn't giving me any error code, it's just not responding to the iPhone 4 at all. it doesn't detect it and so I can't sync :/

  • ITunes/iPhone refusing to sync some content

I got a new MacMini to replace and old Powerbook. I moved the library over, ran iTunes which updated it. It didnt require me to reeastablish the iphone/itunes link. I thought everything was good for a while.
I created a new playlist and set it to sync. It syncs the list name, but not the songs. Removed the playlist, synced, re-added with a different name, synced, same outcome.
Wiped out iTunes library on Mini, then it made me reestablish the iphone/itunes link, then synced, it removed all songs and playlists from iPhone as expected. Added all songs back to iTunes library and rebuilt newly named playlists. synced. All playlist names synced, but still i have two that wont sync the actual songs.
The playlists show songs in iTunes. Both are smart playlists which are set to sync one or two genres each. The lists that work are also smart lists.
    How can I fix this?
My thoughts (please advise if it sounds right):
    1) Restore iPhone to factory.
    2) Wipe out iTunes library on Mini.
    3) Import my songs to iTunes and recreate the playlists.
    4) Setup iphone/itunes link and sync.

  • The iPhone cannot be synced. The disk could not be read or written to.

+The iPhone cannot be synced. The disk could not be read or written to.+
That's the message I get when I sync my iPhone now after flawless syncing since the second day they came on sale. I restarted, I repaired permissions. The iPhone is only half full. I have tried a couple of different usb to iPhone chords. After trouble shooting I have found that if I don't sync iPhoto it syncs everything else just fine. I have deleted the iPhoto prefs. I have reinstalled iLife. I have reinstalled iTunes and deleted the iTunes prefs. I have gotten a brand new iPhone from the Apple store. I have backed up and deleted every photo in iPhoto and it still gets the error message.
    Starting to get frustrated.

Unfortunately, I'm an Outlook junkie, and I need to sync my iPhone (1st Gen) with Outlook. I had no problems under XP. I even synced my device to Vista Business running out of Boot Camp and via Fusion.
When I upgraded to Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 (freshly installed) my iPhone refused to sync anything but my Contacts, Calendar, and Bookmarks. It didn't matter whether I was running under Fusion or natively via Boot Camp -- I would get a variety of errors, but mostly "the disk could not be read or written to" wtih the occassional "unknown error" thrown in to make my life even more miserable.
It would occasionally sync an audio or video file, but 99 times out of 100 it would die in the middle of the sync, trash something on the phone, and force me to restore it.
Restoration, though, was not possible under Windows. I would try repeatedly to restore the phone from Vista, with no success. In fact, I tried to install the updated 2.0 firmware last week, which "bricked" the phone for about 4 hours. The only way that I could restore the device was under OS X. Naturally, the error returned the first time I tried to sync on Windows again.
I was almost to the point of declaring the iPhone toasted, smashing the overpriced little trinket that's caused me so much agony into iPieces and then dropping it into an envelope and mailing it to Steve J. with a letter stating that a $600.00+ "revoltionary internet device" shouldn't croak 1 year after purchase.
    <RANT>
I mean think about it -- getting bent over on pricing 2 months after purchase, Apple releasing a 3G version barely one year later (and for significantly lower price than the original) and having to sign a 2 year contract with the baby Satan that is AT&T isn't exactly what I would call a GOOD experience. Not to mention the activation fiasco, etc.
    </RANT>
At any rate, all the Windows jokes aside, I believe I've finally solved my problem and it may help the others having this same problem on dual-core or hyperthreading processors.
With iTunes running, go to the Task Manager, select the Processes tab and find the iTunes processes (AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe, iTunes.exe, and iTunesHelper.exe). Right-click on each and select "Set Affinity..." from the context menu.
In the "Processor Affinity" dialog, you should see both CPU 0 and CPU 1 checked, which is the default. UN-CHECK CPU 1, so that only CPU 0 is checked, then click "OK".
You may need to retstart iTunes and/or the services, but I didn't need to do that (and technically, you shouldn't have to do that).
Try your sync again. I'm syncing flawlessly again after that little tweak. Perhaps this is something odd about iTunes under Windows on multi-core or hyperthreading processors (read: race condition or something similar)?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will continue to work, otherwise I go the smash-and-mail-to-Steve route.

  • IPhone will not sync with my current iCal events

With all the latest Mac and iPhone software, my iPhone refuses to sync with my Mac's calendar events. Old calendars keep showing up on my iPhone that aren't valid anymore. I have tried everything in iTunes' UI: restoring, resetting, replacing, etc. The only thing I can remember doing was renaming a calendar in iCal but then I named it back. After that is when I think the problem started. Even after resetting my iPhone and not restoring it from a backup, it still picks up calendar events that just aren't visible in iCal. What is going on?

As a first step, deselect syncing your calendars via your iPhone sync preferences, and select Apple at the lower right.
Disconnect your iPhone and quit iTunes.
Launch the iSync application and go to iSync Preferences.
    Select Reset Sync History.
Quit iSync and then restart your Mac.
Try selecting sync your calendars via your iPhone sync preferences, select Apple and then sync.
If this doesn't work, I would try exporting or backing up your iCal data and then deleting all calendars. Import your iCal data from the backup and try syncing again.

  • IPhone 4 refuses to sync to iTunes

    I updated my iPhone 4 to the new iOS5 software today (Oct 12th, 2011) and all the new apps run perfectly. However I have two problems now;
    1. A good chunk of my album artwork did not sync onto my iPhone. I'm not missing any music, so I might have to manually fix this since I manually manage my music. (I have 593 songs but only 430 on my iTunes since I lost my library once and have to manually manage to avoid losing all the music on my phone).
    2. My iPhone now refuses to sync to iTunes! This is the bigger problem of the two. A pop up appears that says 'The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to start'.
My iTunes version is the latest version available, 10.5, which became available a day or two ago. My computer is an Hp that runs on windows vista. Please help!!

Just made one very simple move without having to restore iPhone or reinstall iTunes..
1st step:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 *Read 'in my case' in here first before following this link*
Follow that link to restart (or if necessary) reinstall your Apple mobile device support.
In my case, Leave iPhone connected all the way. I first exit iTunes. Then i stopped the Apple Mobile device support (by following a part on that link above in step 1) which Effectively made my iPhone undetectable on itunes but discoverable by windows as a 'camera device'. Then while device is still connected, i started the Apple mobile dev support again. Now i open itunes and there my iPhone re-appears.
2nd step: After your iphone re-appears on iTunes, press Sync and all is well...
P.S, Mine is iPhone 4 running on iOS 5, iTunes 10.5, Windows 7..

  • Contacts deleting by themselves and iPhone needs a full backup restore after refusing to sync with iTunes. - Pls Help!

I have had my new iPhone 5s since the middle of December 2013 and I really enjoy it, however, I'm finding the iOS a little unstable.
I backup often - whether to iCloud or to my iMac at my office or to my Acer Windows 7 based Notebook at home, and I have had to do a full backup restore of my phone software after it suddenly refused to sync with iTunes. The only option open to me was "Restore iPhone" which also is a nuisance and takes a little while if you have a lot of content on your phone. I've had to do this 3 times now and it's getting on my nerves!
Also, as I type this, my contacts are suddenly removing themselves from my phone book. I discovered this as I was going through my Whatsapp messages when I noticed a few numbers in my recent chats that didn't have names or contact pictures. When I scrolled to the top of the message, I noticed that the "add contact" detail was suddenly available. I immediately checked my phone book and noticed that those contacts are no longer available. A lot of my numbers are suddenly showing up like this within the last hour and I haven't changed any settings at all. I back up to my notebook and iCloud once a week. This problem is a first for me  as well.
I must point out that I never had these issues with my iPhone 3GS which was only becoming cumbersome due to its outdated OS and because of its processing speed.
Will I need to wait for the next IOS Update to solve this problem, or will I have to find an alternative solution?
Any advice you have to offer would be most welcome.

Simplify your question, will you? I have trouble in reading such a long English article.

  • ITunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone...the iPhone canceled the sync

My phone refuses to sync ANY contacts. When iTunesis performing the Sync process, it ends stating that "iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone "MyPhone" because the iPhone canceled the sync."
This happened originally when I was running OS 3.0. As a fix, I upgraded iTunes and then my iPhone to the latest versions - v9.0.1.8 and v3.1.2 respectively.
I just finished doing a "reset all content and settings" and still no dice. Unfortunately, this won't allow me to sync until after I restore a backup, so I'm sure I'm bringing corrupt data back into the phone.
I tried changing my contacts to sync to my Windows Address Book, instead of the GMail that I use. No luck.
HOW can I simply ERASE the contact database on my iPhone so I can get it to sync again?

    ...and an update.
I tried manually adding some contacts to the phone and they just don't save. The contact list stays empty.
