MySAP PLM DMS

I would like to understand how to configure Web DMS. Do we need to download any software like we do for Easy DMS? Basically I would like to understand how to access the doucments created in R/3 using Web DMS.
thanks

WebDocuments is a BSP application provided by SAP from 4.7 onwards.  To configure WebDocuments, go to SPRO
Cross-Application Components -> Document Management -> Set Up WebDocuments(BSP)
Here you make additional settings for the document types that you want to access through WebDocuments.
The BSP application is 'CVAW_ENTIRE'.

  • MySAP PLM

In all the presentations that are present in service.sap.com related to mySAP PLM it talks about Quality Management using mySAP PLM, Life cycle data management and life cycle process management. Under Life cycle data management we have Document management system, change management system, variant configuration etc. I am a certified PP consultant. As per my knowledge the above mentioned components under Life-cycle data management already exist in SAP R/3 Logistics. Also Quality Management exists in SAP R/3. I would like to understand how mySAP PLM DMS system or mySAP Quality management differ from SAP R/3 DMS and SAP R/3 Quality Management.
Also there is a mention of engineering work bench and IPPE (Integrated product and process engineering) under Life-Cycle data management. As I mentioned earlier EWB and IPPE are very much part of R/3 Logistics. Now I would like to understand if these components of SAP R/3 come under the purview of mySAP PLM even though they exist under R/3 or there are differences.I would also like to understand the components that exist in mySAP PLM apart from cFolders & cProjects.

    Hi,
You are quite right about the fact that almost all PLM components already existed in SAP R/3.
When SAP divided its solution in different blocks (SCM, CRM, SRM and PLM), some of these blocks included other software than SAP R/3 (APO, CRM...), and MySAP PLM is the only one based mainly on SAP R/3.
I see it as a functionnal presentation of existing components.
Now when I give the PLM100 training, I explain that the material, document, BOM... are part of the PLM funcionnalities, but technically parts of SAP R/3.
now : what is in PLM and not in R/3? as you said, mainly cProject, cFolder. EH&S used to be in PLM only, as well as the CAD interface.
    Hope it helps
    Regards

  • SAP PLM DMS Connector - Read Only

Using SAP PLM DMS Connector can I upload documnents into repositories configured for DMS?
I read the documentation and it looks like a read only connector.

Installation of mysap PLM integration - For AutoDesk / Auto CAD from Cideon Software
(SAP AutoCAD integration using CAD Desktop)
Is it comes along with SAP Inst or
do we need to get licence to use from Cideon Software.

    Hi,
    for clarification:
The AutoCAD-SAP Integration is a SAP product, developed by CIDEON Software together with SAP.
So it is an SAP pricelist product, it has to be purchased from SAP. Consulting services are typically done by CIDEON.

  • Netwearver WAS version 640 of the content server for PLM DMS

    Hi,
We have SAP R/3 4.7 version & have implemented PLM-DMS with content server on WAS620.We are contemplating to use distributed content server for our requirement. Has anyone used multiple content servers? if so, could you please share your experiences.
Also, if anyone has anyone upgraded the content server to version 640, i would like you to share your experiences with me.
    Thanks,
    Viji
    [email protected]

    Sap R/3 4.6C - CS630 (patch-lvl15)
We do not use SapDB or MaxDB to store the document on the content server, we store the documents directly in the file system.
Our Content servers run on win2003 servers.
In my company we've currently got 15 different content servers in 10 countries.
We've got one content server and one cache server at each location for one SAP system. One physical server has 2 content servers and 1 cache server. One for our SAP production system and one for our SAP Quality test system. They use the same cache server (first we created 2 cache servers, but it was not possible for SAP to destuingish between the two, so both cache servers got used by both SAP systems)
We have also implemented a couple of add-ons:
    1. Conversion and viewserver (by Seal AG). conversion server converts office documents to pdf when documents are released. Currently use only 2 conversion servers, planning to increase when the volume gets larger.
Viewserver adds stamps on pdf-files when you view or print a document.
    2. Document Distribution Manager (by CENIT AG). Makes it easy to schedule prefill of cache. Also possible to move documents from one storage category to another. And Rules for transfering documents from one site to another can be made (Ex. "not allowed to move files larger than 20 MB between <certain> sites")
Perhaps I could be of assistance?
BUT, anyway, the reason I post this is because I have problems upgrading my CS630 (lvl15) to CS640 (lvl6).
Asked SAP via an OSS, and they said it was like a regular patching (stop webservice, copy *.dll files, and restart webservice). But when I try this, I can't get contact with the content server via CSADMIN in SAP. I get "HTTP error: 500 Internal Server Error"

  • MySAP PLM + java 7 rev67 + OSX 10.9.5 : problem upload/Download

    Hello,
I'm user from MySAP PLM on Safari or Firefox on Mac with OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks). Last Java version.
I have to upload/download files but the window to choose direction doesn't appears.
When I click on upload or download button, the window opens. But after, when I click on the button "Select files" nothing appears (see file attached).
My first question is : is it possible to upload/download somethings from a Mac ? (from a PC, it works).
Second : if yes, what settings should I set up ?
    Thank you for your help.

This discussion thread belongs to the Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM) space. Generically speaking Safari support is somewhat restricted. In order to analyze the situation any further, please share the version of your SAP system, especially SAP_BASIS including the SP level.

  • Sap Content server Direct Browser Access - docGet

We use SAP Content Server for DMS doc storage. Docs are stored without digital signing.
I am looking to access dms original files directly via web browser using the "docGet" command.
    My url looks as shown:
    http://pswdf009:1080/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?docGet&pVersion=0045&contRep=K1&docId=361A524A3ECB5459E0000800099245EC
When I call the url, browser does not seem to be able to read the file type of the server response. An "open/save" dialog appears and when "open" is selected a subsequent dialog appears asking which application to use to open the file. Once the correct application is chosen, the document is displayed correctly.
Is there some way to instruct the browser the content-type is application/pdf?
Will CSAdmin parameter changes have any impact?
The browser is Internet Explorer 6.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Roger,
you may of course find an answer here.
But mySAP PLM DMS is not a focus topic here (besides maybe connecting it into the SAP Portal and KM). Thus, you may be better off using a contact or a message to PLM.

  • SAP Content Server HTTP Interface ignores secKey

    Hello.
I try to implement an own Content Server with the help of this url: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/DE/f5/9561f5f3b111d1955b0000e82deb58/frameset.htm
The problem is, if try to test these functions on the SAP CS, secKey will always be ignored. The parameters 'docProt', 'security' and 'Protection' are set to on.
The function 'putCert ' also does not work and always show the error 'security.cpp(615): SsfVerfiyError 12'.
    Thanks for the help.
    Best Regards
    René

    Hi Alexander,
SAP KM always has to access on the architecture level where the document object model is defined. There is no generic repository manager (the connectory from KM to xy) for ArchiveLink or SAP Content Server.
Repository managers access e.g. on the level of mySAp PLM DMS for which one of these connectors is available.

  • Difference between KM & KW

Can anyone please tell me what is the exact difference between knowledge management & knowledge warehouse in SAP?

Knowledge Management (KM) is the Java-based platform for Knowledge and Content Management that is topic of this forum here. It is part of SAP NetWeaver and technically resides on the portal server.
Its architectural core piece the Repository Framework offers the possibility to integrate various other document repositories such as file servers, Web servers, WebDAV servers, Lotus databases, mySAP PLM DMS, and more.
On top of its own database and the integrated repositories, KM offers a common set of highly configurable services and a common user interface.
Knowledge Warehouse (KW) is SAP's solution for the creation, management and distribution of documentation, training materials, and manuals, i.e. anything that can be displayed to end users in a book-like structure. Practical examples of KW use within SAP are the transaction help in your SAP system, the content on the SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com, or the SAP training materials you get at SAP's training centres.
For more information on KW, go to http://service.sap.com/kw.
KW is an ABAP-based solution. Similar to mySAP PLM DMS it uses the ABAP-based document storage architecture of KPro and SAP Content Server. It has no direct technical relation to the SAP Enterprise Portal, but belongs to the Web AS ABAP. KW offers nothing similar to the integration capabilities of KM's repository framework. Speaking the other way around, KW could be integrated into KM as a repository.
    Hope that helps...

  • DMS integration with PP and PS.

    Hi SAP PLM experts,
I would like to know how mySAP PLM's DMS module  is integrated with PS and PP module.
Any small scenario with T codes and configuration help is highly appriciated.
If you guyz have any documents/materials for this question, please mail the same to sudhu03 at gmail dot com.
    Thanks in advance,
    S.Achar.

It is only through the object linkwhich you provide.
In the business perpective, we attach the contract documents, design drawings and other doucuments to the project for ready referance.
You can create the DIR directly from PS transaction or you can create it in DMS and attach it to the Project.
We do have the red lining to identify teh changes reqd in the document.

  • DMS Portal integration

    hi Gurus,
We are in the process of integrating DMS with Portal.
we need to build a Portal screen where in a User would be able to load some documents directly on to DMS.
We have incorporated the mySAP ERP DMS Connector for KM.
we feel something is missing out in our configuration steps.
has any one done this configiration, your help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    kris

Check Business package of DMS Connector, you can download it from SAP Service Market Place and you'll have to install it on to Portal Server. Once successfully installed you will find DMSRM in Repository Managers. There you need to create repository and also maintain System to Access R/3 from Portal.
Finally as per the variant created in SAP R/3 DMS CV04N you'll able to see the folders and DMS Documents.

    Hi All,
I am BW consultant.Interested in PLM .Could you please tell about PLM and if I want learn PLM what shall i do? This module comes under functional or technical?
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

    Hi Rakesh,
There are different tracktion for PLM in SAP
    1. <b>Product Data Management</b>
which covers Material Management, Bill of Material, Document Managment System, Classification System, Variant Configurations, CAD Interfaces. etc.
Most of the Industries will be using these cross application components for their Engineering Departments.
    2. <b>Program Management</b>
Where Entire Program is capture i.e. From Customer Enquirry to the Order execution and till Dispatch.
Here again Project System, CFolder, CProjects, DMS, MM, BOM, Workflow etc can be a part of the PLM
    3. <b>Asset LifeCylce Management</b>
This is used in different Scenarios where companies wants to trace there assets
    or lifecycle of their assets.
Project Systems and DMS will be mostly involved.
    4.<b> Quality Managment</b>
Strictly Speaking PLM Products are used in R& D Department, Engineering Department, Design & Drafting Departments of the Companies/organizations,
Where they try to modify their existing Products, try to Design as per the customer requirements, Try to launch new Product by doing R & D works.
PLM is Mostly used in these Departments of the Organizations
