Mysql connection mac-server 2003

Hi there,
Recently I bought my first Mac(book). I'm running MySQL on a local server
and with my PC I can connect without a problem to localhost in the MySQL
Connection box.
On my Mac I can't get this done. Tried several things like the IP adress,
servername etc. and am realy stuck. Anybody here has a solution?
Greetings,
Henk

Not many of us have 2003, so pardon if our answers miss the mark...
OS X tries to use your OS X username/password, so do you have an account set up on 2003 with that username?
You do know that you will need a different driver for network printing to the Deskjet? The HP-provided driver (including pre-installed on OS X) is written to use USB only.

  • Cannot connect to Server 2003 with firewall on

A few days ago I could no longer connect to a Windows 2003 server via SMB using my MacBook at work.
After a bit of trial and error (I've probably mucked up something in Directory Access) I decided to turn off the MacBook's firewall. Now I can connect.
I don't think anything was changed on the server; I could ping it, but got an error that "some data in ... could not be read or written. (Error code -36)" when I tried to connect a server volume.
What ports do I need to allow in the firewall to connect a SMB volume? Or is there another problem? I don't really want to have to leave the firewall off.

    Mike,
Can you give us more information abou the issue.
what do you get from the browser, what is the ASDM version?
Is the IP of the PC allow to access the ASDM? from the CLI do  "show run http"

  • Unable to connect Windows server 2003 to windows 2012

Hi, I am using Windows server 2012 R2 as DC, server 2012 R2 as Member server with DHCP role and another serer 2003 ENT as Dhcp server.
I am trying fail-over on server 2012 and server 2003. but when I am trying to authorize the DHCP on server 2003 its stating that it cannot contact DC. Where I checked DC its working fine. Server 2003 is able to ping dc with name and IP as well.
    Thanks in advance...

I do believe the technology for failover DHCP is different in 2012R2 and 2003.
    In Windows Server 2003 -
"To host the DHCP server on a Windows Failover Cluster, the DHCP database needs to be hosted on a shared storage accessible to both nodes of a cluster in addition to the deployment of the cluster itself. DHCP servers running on each node of the
cluster operate on the same DHCP database hosted on the shared storage..."
    In Windows Server 2012 -
The servers does not need to have a central DB, they make use of a replication technique to ensure both DBs are kept constant and up to date.

  • PHP/MySQL connection / testing server maybe?

Problem - I'm unable to connect to a PHP database. I'm
working right now with tutorials from the DW CS3 Bible by Lowery,
but haven't been able to connect at all. And I wasted weeks trying
the same thing with an ASP connection.
The error message I'm getting now is '405 Method not Allowed'
when working through the connection dialog. I thought PHP/MySQL was
supposed to be easier & better than ASP/Access?
In going through the site setup, instructions for setting up
the site's testing server say 'click test to verify the connection'
but there's no button to click. What am I missing?
Is there some kind of easy test script I can attempt, as with
asp? Problem there was that I could do the 'timetest' sample, but
    nothing else.
I have gone through setting permissions and creating IUSR_my
computer name as a user - they seemd to work fine, but I still
    can't connect.
Thanks anyone, and everyone - my first post regarding
connection problems was on 8/22 and I feel like I have gotten
    nowhere.

  • Can't connect windows server 2003 with domain account

I have installed an agent on windows 2003 server successfully but I cannot add domain account as a preferred credential to connect to windows. My OMS is 11g running on RHEL 5 and I am trying to deploy sql server plugin to windows 2003 server. I could deploy the plugin with the same domain account to windows 2008 without any error but for some reason, but I cannot use the same domain account on windows 2003. This domain account is part of administrator group on both 2003 & 2008 servers so I don't know what I need to do different for 2003. Please help me. Thank you.

Can you provide some more details and/or screenshots?
I'm not sure exactly what you mean here: "I cannot add domain account as a preferred credential to connect to windows"
Are you in the Agent preferred credentials page? What is the error?

  • Connecting to Server 2003 via Ethernet vs Routher/Airport Express on PB-G4

A co-worker at the non-profit arts group where I volunteer can connect her Powerbook G4 to our Dell server and get to network drives via Ethernet fine. Also has access to Net finee via Safari through server to cable modem. When connected to the lINKSYS wireless router to the server, the network drives are not available. A Dell laptop works fine in this configuration. What is causing Finder not to see the Dell Server network drives when connected via the router, but to see them when connected via E'net??

Thanks, but one of my questions is related to what it says in the documentation as follows:
"When the base stations receive power and a network connection over the WAN port, the USB port is disabled. You can connect the Ethernet LAN port to a computer or other Ethernet device, but power does not travel to the Ethernet LAN port. "
So if my set up is as I describe is my USB port disabled? (does my network connection receive power/connection over the WAN or the LAN?

  • All 30 minutes my Macs (iMac/Snow Leopard, MacMini/Lion) are loosing the connection to the Windows Servers (2 Networks: Home with Home Server 2011 (Server 2008) and Office with Home Server V1 (Server 2003)).

    Hallo,
    Hello,
I run the office and at home each a Microsoft Home Server. In both networks, in addition to various Windows computers, a Mac is available.
The particular "configuration" is as follows:
    - Apple MacMini (Late 2011, as HTPC) with Lion via wifi via AVM Fritzbox 7390 to Microsoft Windows Home Server 2011 (Windows Server 2008).
    - Apple iMac (Late 2010, desktop PC) with Snow Leopard by Lan on AVM Fritzbox 7270 on Microsoft Windows Home Server V1 (Windows Server 2003)
All operating systems on current conditions with all patches and updates.
The Fritz boxes running with the latest firmware
    Now to the problem:
Both Macs are loosing every 30 minutes the contact to the server. The connection is "re-"established about 1-2 minutes later. On MacMini (HTPC), the film or music is stopped for the above period. Thereafter, the film / music goes on. With the iMac (workstation) a document loaded from the server can no longer be saved or printed.
The MacMini has shown this phenomenon directly in connection with the WHS. However, the iMac has been working about 1.5 years with no problems. This problem only occurs for about 6-9 months
Because of different WHS and OS X versions are affected and also different Fritz boxes are used and it seems to be a general problem in the interplay Windows / OS X to be present.
When the iMac is the exact date of disconnection does not occur.
With the Mac Mini, the time can however be determined relatively easily. From the Event Viewer on Windows Server is unfortunately no clear error image. At the particular time but appeared relatively often, but not always (!) In Windows Security Logs the error 4625 (Failed to log on an account) on. This would indicate a rights issue.
Searching for a solution (so far unsuccessfully, unfortunately), I stumbled over the problem of the Server Infrastructure License Services (silsvc) in Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials (every 30 min!). Maybe a connection?

Hi, and thank you for your reply!
My reason for not posting this in the server forum is that I suspect it is a clien issue. All my other clients connect happily to the server which leads me to believe the server is configured correctly.
Only my the two MacBook Pro's are having problems.

  • How can I connect 10.4 Mac to Windows Small Business Server 2003?

I have seen some other discussions touching on this topic and have tried the various solutions but am getting nowhere. I can't connect my iBook, which is running Tiger, to our office's server, a Windows Small Business Server 2003. I am the only Mac user and as a Mac devotee actually spent my own hard cash for the iBook. (I work for a non-profit with low funds.) Previously, when our office had a different server and I had Panther, I could access the server. Then it was purely an academic exercise, since I had no need to access the shared files. Now I have a project that requires this, and I am stumped. Our part-time IT consultant is also stumped. We have tried a lot of the suggestions from other posts, to no avail. I suggested to the IT guy that there could be a problem regarding the encryption of my password, and I think he tried that. We have tried various versions of the domain name. The server comes up in the list when I follow the "go--connect to server--browse" path, but we come up empty. We've gotten error message -36, a message that we are trying to connect an alias to something that can't be found, and a message that we don't have enough information to go any further (something like that). I am writing from my eMac at home, so I can't reconstruct the situation right now. I have found in my extensive internet search that Thursby has something called ADmitMac that is pretty expensive software ($119 for one person) that I could install on the iBook and could help me access the Windows Small Business Server 2003 without doing anything else to the server. Does anyone know if that would that work? Any suggestions would be so appreciated!

I have specific errors listed below:
Actually, I have been encountering similar problems.  I have an end user who wants to connect to an SBS 2003 server, and can not connect/use RWW because the Active X will not work, cannot use the VPN in PPTP mode because Windows 8 disallows the connection
("Error 942: The connection could not be established because the authentication method used by your connection profile is not permitted for use by an access policy configured on the RAS/VPN server."), and cannot use an L2TP VPN connection because it requires
a certificate "Error 766: A certificate could not be found. Connections that use the L2TP protocol over IPSEC require the installation of a machine certificate, also known as a computer certificate.".  I attempted to utilize the SBS Connection Tool downloaded
from RWW, but it fails with a proxy error ("Unable to execute custom script (Configure proxy settings for IE). Required file could be missing." - likely due to the PPTP tunnel it tries to use). I went so far as to install the Enterprise CA on the server, installed
    the Hotfix
(KB922706) so that the website could be accessed from Vista and above, and installed the requested certificate.  The VPN fails to connect after
it times out and fails to negotiate a connection.  This last one is "Error 789: L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer
encountered a processing error during the initial negotiations with the remote computer."
I have screenshots to share if anyone cares to see.  I really just get the feeling that Microsoft is trying to kill SBS 2003 by ingoring it into oblivion.
The VPN works fine with Windows 7 clients by the way.

  • Mac G5 10.4 connecting to Windows Server 2003 finder windows NOT refreshing

We are not seeing finder contents refresh when connecting to Windows 2003 servers. We are running 10.4.5. This was supposedly "fixed" in 10.4 but we haven't seen it work yet. Who do we contact for support on this? I've tried using "Contextual Menu" which didn't work, and also tried "Finder Sync" which also didn't work. The only thing that did work was Path Finder. Path Finder did provide an auto-refresh but I don't like Path Finder and we won't buy it.
Who do we contact at Apple about this? Or does anyone have any experience like this?

Copy it, open Script Editor and save it as an executable application in your Utilities folder. Now put shortcuts to it in your Dock or your Sidebar or whereever. When you run it, the front most windows in the Finder will be refreshed to its most current state from disk.

  • Mac OS X 10.10.2 connection to Windows Server 2003 R2 very slo

    Hi,
I am currently running OS X 10.10.2 on my MacBook Pro and I connect to a local server at my work periodically by using the connect to server function in Finder. I type in the server ip address and am able to connect to the appropriate drive without any problems. The problem comes in when I go to open files and sometimes folders from the server. It can take up to a minute or more to open a simple .png file that is only 8 mb in size. Trying to open larger files causes the applications to freeze and I eventually have to force close the applications. Even transferring the files from the server to my desktop is extremely slow. I was wondering if there was any way to fix this problem (either on the MacBook side or the Windows side).
The server is currently running Windows Server 2003 R2 (I plan on updating it, but in the meantime...) and the person who set the server up is no longer available to be contacted for questions. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi cani89,
Firstly, this policy has three values that you can set. Which one do you use, Negotiate, RDP or SSL?
In addition, we need the log file for further research.

  • Can't connect to Small Business Server 2003 via Active Directory

I have done lots of searching, both in these forums and the wider internet, and cannot find a solution to my specific problem.
I am trying to connect my G5 (10.3.9) to a Windows network. We have a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 with Active Directory. The PCs have no problem using this, and I can connect to shares setup on the server via AFP.
But I am having problems when I try to configure the AD plug-in in Directory Access on the Mac. When I click 'Bind', I enter the Server's Administrator username & password and when I click 'OK', it gets to Step 3 of 5 "Verifying Credentials". It ticks away at this step for about 30 seconds, then comes up with error message saying "Invalid user name and password combination."
I have tried other users with admin privileges, but they don't work either. I know the usernames and passwords aren't invalid, because I created them. I have tried fiddling around with other settings in the AD setup, but nothing gets any further.
Without any other 3rd party software (that's my final option), is there something I need to check/change, either on the Mac or the server, to make this Mac to authenticate via AD? Please help!

Hi Andbrowny, thanks for your response.
Your advice didn't really help my Active Directory problem (AD doesn't require SMB does it?), but it gave me some progress on my SMB problem. I can connect via AFP, but previously when I tried to connect via SMB, it kept coming up with the error "Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct".
Now, after changing the policies on the server, I get an error -43 message saying "The operation could not be completed because one or more required items cannot be found."
So now I have two problems! SMB is not finding something it needs, and Active Directory is not "verifying credentials".
Actually, I have three problems: When I am connected via AFP, filenames over 31 characters long are truncated on the server, and I can't copy long filenames onto the server without renaming them. I have read that SMB would fix this to a degree (256 characters for the complete file path), but is there anything (a protocol or software) that allows long filenames to be read/written with ease?
Side note: The server is not 100% configured, the bloke installing it still has some work to do, but Active Directory works for all the XP machines, and I can connect to each XP workstation with SMB.

  • Mac OS X Server on Windows Domain with Server 2003 DC

    Hello,
I work for a school based in Leicester and we have a full windows environment (server 2003) running about 300 XP machines and 22 macs connected to Active directory using a piece od software called Admit Mac.
Recently I went over to another school and to see there mac setup and how easy it is to image machines, subsequently we purchased a mac mini and installed MAC OS X Server on it. I want to be about to use this sever with Apple remote for the 20 macs we have by joining it to are domain and pulling the machines through using AD for Imaging etc.
Can this be done easily and what's your experience on the best way to go about doing it?
Any help would be fantastic partially if someone out there has done it!!

    Hi
+. . . pulling the machines through using AD for Imaging etc.+
Not sure what you mean by this? Creating images similar to RIS files (on the mac platform they're called nbis) can only be done using the System Image Utility. You can use the application itself if you want or an admin mac with the Server Admin Tools installed. AFAIK the application can only be run on the mac platform.
I doubt if nbis can be 'served' by your DC either if this is what you meant?
You might get a clearer idea if you read the documentation:

  • Problems with the shared files of Windows Server 2003 and Mac

    Hi Sam*
    Welcome Back to Apple Discussions!
A couple of questions, do you have any PC's connecting to the shares okay?
The Security tab on a folder lists all the users and their access level.
The Sharing tab lists all the "sharing" permissions to a given directory.
I usually always set this to Everyone and Full. I control access with the Security tab.
The default setting for W2003 with shared directories is to have the sharing permissions set to read only.
    This is easy to overlook.
If this is not your situation, please provide more info.
    Thank you.
