MySQL on Sol.7 x86

Hi there,
Has anyone compiled MySQL on Sol.7 x86?
When I try that, I failed at configuration phase, I got the zero size of "char" error, and MySQL suggested me
to check "libm.a" and I've found it's right there, "/lib" and "/usr/lib"
So what caused the "zero size of char" error?
(The GCC I used is 2.95.2)
Thanks for any help!

After some troubleshooting and a bit of luck, the problem is the following:
The December update KB3008923 (Cumulative Update for IE December 2014) was causing the problem on IE9.
The update released on January 2015 KB3025945 is fixing the issue.
This is not an update available through WSUS so you have to look for it at
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com.
There is a bit more information, the problem is recurring but I did not found which task was causing the error so it was not only the installation that was causing the problem. After installing the KB3008923, the problem was present on any x86 Windows 7
computer running any version of configMgr agent (tested on 2012 SP1 and 2012 R2).
After installing the January update, the problem is gone.

  • Booting from alternate disk in Sol 10 x86 1/06

    Hey all--
I'm trying to set up a mirrored root filesystem on an x86 box with two IDE disks. It's running solaris 10 1/06. I've done this plenty of times on sparc boxes, but only once on an x86 box and after the metaroot, I had to edit bootenv.rc to point back to the "first" disk to get it to boot. That was with an older Solaris 10 release.
I'm reading what I think is conflicting information from the SVM doc in the Solaris 10 book at docs.sun.com, various blog entries ( like this one from Mr Jelinek -- http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/jerrysblog?entry=solaris_volume_manager_x86_root ) and I'm confused now.
My main question is, do I need to manually put bootblocks on the second drive? My disks appear to have identical x86 partitioning as well as Solaris partitioning, and don't contain the now-deprecated x86 boot partition.
Page 126 of the current (12/05) SVM manual says:
You must specify slice 2 of the disk as the device, and slice 2 must comprise the
    entire disk.
    # installboot /usr/platform/i86pc/lib/fs/ufs/pboot \
/usr/platform/i86pc/lib/fs/ufs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0s2but.. pboot appears to be missing in the latest Solaris 10 release.
So does anyone know what the current situation is? Do you need to put bootblocks on the second disk in the latest Solaris 10? And if so, how? :) thanks!

    bad 12/05 SVM manual..bad! :)
If I had done the RTFM thing like one is supposed to, I would have seen this bit of information:
    # man installboot
The installboot utility is a SPARC only program. It  is  not
supported   on   the    architecture.    users   should  use
installgrub(1M) instead.I assume "the architecture" here could be better written as "the x86 architecture" :)
and of course, this makes sense, since the Sol 10 x86 1/06 release clearly boots with GRUB. I suppose I should also get my learn on for the other binaries:
    # man -k grub
bootadm         bootadm (1m)    - manage bootability of GRUB-enabled operating system
grub            grub (5)        - GRand Unified Bootloader software on Solaris
installgrub     installgrub (1m)    - install GRUB in a disk partition or a floppyI'll confirm boot-ability later today when I take the machine into the lab. But I think I'm on the right track.
This is a great forum and I've learned a lot by reading it. many thanks to all the posters!

  • Sol 10 X86 with Qlogic 1280 controller

Sol 10 X86 installation problem: System has two internal disks, 1 quantum SCSI 6 gb, which was UNconnected. One Seagate 18 GB SCSI from Qlogic 1280 controller with Sol 9 installed. Disconnected Seagate to play with the old Quantum drive. Problem was the Qlogic controller driver. Installation failed after numerous attempts. I finally decided to install Sol 9 on Quantum and try an upgrade. Sol 9 succeeded but 10 failed, still due to the 1280 driver, which is downloaded from Qlogic and installed to a diskette with dd. Tried downloading the driver again to see if there was an upgrade. The product is discontinued. The driver is for up to Sol 9.
Finally gave up and decided to make the Quantum drive non bootable and try to incorporate it into the Sol 9 installation on the Seagate disk with DiskSuite. Ran fdisk and deleted the boot partition on the Quantum. Reconnected Seagate drive and booted with both drives powered up. System failed to boot at all. Now my primary drive is trashed somehow. I went through another Sol 9 installation on Seagate, using the preserve data option. Still wouldn't boot as of last night. Gotta love this.

  • Sol 10 x86 not recognizing hard disk

    Hi,
I am trying to install Sol 10 x86 V 6/06 on a HP DL585. I am installing from a CD. When it is time to install the software , I get an error, found no disks . These are 72Gb disks. The hardware is supported under hcl. Are there any extra drivers I need for the install cd to recognize

Either the HDD is dead or the connection cable is faulty.  Take out the HDD and place it in an enclosure and connect it to the MBP via USB.  The start the MBP with the OPTION key held down.  If the external HDD is recognized, click on it and se if it boots the MBP.  If it does, then it is the cable that is the problem.  Otherwise the problem lies with the HDD.
    Ciao.

  • Problems installing Sol 10 x86 on Compaq Harware

Please Help! I am a newbie to Solaris and I am trying to understand some of these postings in this thread. I am trying to install Sol 10 on a Compaq DL360 with dual proc 1.26 MHZ and 3 GB RAM. It has an imbeded 5i array controller with two 36 GB drives attached set up as RAID 0.
I have downloaded the Sol 8 UTI disk for the controller and seem to be able to successfully add the driver for installation. Note: I renamed the directory from Sol_28 to Sol_210 as instructed earlier in this thread. I get a warning message after loading the driver that says :
Solaris could not detect a primary disk.....
However, the system has detected a disk controller without a driver, and assumes that the following disk maps to the primary disk:
    /pic@0,0/pcie11,4040@1/cmdk@0,0:a
Choose continue to confirm the Solaris bootpath of the primary disk.
    I press F2 to continue.
I continue with setup and choose Interactive text console. It boots the kernel then I get some memory resource overlap warnings but setup continues. Then I get two warnings that read...
Warning: /pci@0,0 /pcie11,4040@1/sd@0,0 (sd1): Request Sense couldn't get sense data
    and
    Warning:/pci@0,0/pcie11,4040@1/sd@0,0 (sd1): Sychronize cache command failed (5)
    Setup continues...
I choose language as English and get same two warnings again. Setup continues. I enter network config info, and set root password then continue. Then installation starts and I get this error...
One or more disks are found, but one of the following problems exist:
    Hardware Failure
Unformatted diskThen I push f2_ok and I get kicked out to shell.
What am I missing? Did I miss something? I tried this on another machine, a Compaq Proliant 800 with a 4200 controller with same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: I tried yet another version of solaris as i found out that theres a bug in the 64-bit kernel on update 4 for alot of new processors. Solaris 10 x86 update 7 did the trick! :). Installed right away on a standard 'Solaris 10 (64 bit)' VM. I still find it strange that the most recent version of solaris 10 fails to even start the installation.

  • Cannot find download for DS 5.2 P4 or P6 for Sol 10, x86

Can someone get me a URL that allows me to download the Directory Server v5.2 p6?
I gather that I need to download v5.2 P4 and patch to P6, but I can't even get the install package for P4! Every time I do I get transferred to the "Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition / Get the Software" page. No matter what options I select (p4/p6, pkg/zip, Sol 8/10) I end up at a download page that says it can't find the Sun Download Manager s/w (which I can't install due to a lack of admin rights on my laptop) and which doesn't have any other links to transfer any s/w package.
Can some kind soul either direct me to a link that really DOES have the software, or detail the clicks from the DS 5.2 EE page that will get me to the same.
    Yours frustratedly,

  • File sys/tsol/label.h not found, can not compile sendmail on Sol-10 x86

I am building sendmail 8.14.2 on Solaris 10 on an Intel machine and encountered this error.
File <rpc/rpc.h> is including the file <sys/tsol/label.h>
but there is no sys/tsol directory.
The file <sys/tsol/label.h> and the directory <sys/tsol/> are on
Sparc Sol 10 and belong to the SUNWhea package.
The Intel machine has the SUNWhea package completely installed
but the <sys/tsol> directory or the files are not part of that package.
What package do I need to install on the Intel machine?

insert CD 1 or the DVD into your machine and boot it upThanks!
The machine is not physically near me, so
are there options using DVD / CD image files?
    (a) Like mounting the image as a disk (lofiadm etc)? or
    (b) mounting the images on another Sol 10 machine,
exporting from there using nfs etc?
    Thanks
    Added later:
I logged onto the sunsolve site using my email address,
the same login I used to download CD image of the OS.
When I tried to download the patch cluster it told me:
    SunSolve Patch Access
You have encountered the following error(s) or warning(s):
o This download is only available to users with a valid Sun Service Plan associated to their SunSolve user account
o Please click the Edit Account link to update your sunsolve contract number
Also, I located this document on Sun's site: Solaris 10 : Network based installation,
so I think I'll get the information to upgrade in it.
    Thanks again.

  • 3c589 & pcelx on Sol 10 x86

...another problem with NIC's on x86:
according to pcelx(7D), 3c589C is supported by this driver under pcic, but prtconf doesn't show
any children under the controller. I've also tried:
    1. 3c589D, it's not recognized as well.
    2. pctc driver, although I got it to compile and eventually load (this driver requires "cs" which no longer ships with Sol10, so I've used the driver from Sol8), no luck.
    3. initpcic driver (along with the all the steps from README ;), again, the driver loaded, but none of the 3com Etherlink III cards were being recognized by the system.
However, both cards work w/out issues on RH AS4-beta (2.6.5 kernel) which is installed on the same labtop (IBM T20).
Any suggestions, besides spending $$ @ http://www.lynnsoft.com, are appreciated.

    Xi Graphics PCMCIA patch
Additional PC Card (PCMCIA) adapter support for Solaris 6, 7 and 8 x86. This package tries to work around a problem in the Solaris bus enumerator boot code. While it detects that a PCMCIA bridge is present, it does not properly initialize the bridge, and therefore it is not available when the system boots. What this package does is to force the bridge into an ISA only mode so that the bridge is usable after boot. Of course this means that CardBus cards cannot be used with this package. This package does not provide support for any of the Solaris Card specific drivers, so if your card is not on the Solaris HCL, it still will not work with this patch.
So could u share the solve process in detail?
    Thanks.

  • Gui problem in sol 10 x86

    Hi
I have installed solaris 10 x86 in my pc having lg monitor standard monitor 2.54 celeron processor , installation was smooth with no problem , after booting iam not able to get gui it is out of range frenquency error in the monitor ,but iam able to work in cli
will any body to how resolve it
    With rgds
    Tarun

The trick is to edit your xorg.conf file to only
include the frequencies your monitor can support.
Simply comment out the odd ones you know don't seem
right. To be on the safe side I would set it to
800x600 60hz just to get it up and then adjust as
needed. This is exactly my problem also. However, being a newbie to Unix, I am at a loss for where Xorg.conf resides. I also don't seem to have Xsun at the location in the previous message.
    Any ideas? Thanks, Tony

  • Sol 9 x86 AMD installation

Hey all. I'm in a rut career wise and decided to get certified w/Solaris. I ordered the x86 version, and I'm running into problems already.
When using CD1 or the installation CD, I get the same following error:
    config error - missing controller?
    filesystem not mounted
    configuration assistant exited prematurely
then it continues and asks me to choose which installation method i would like to use. when choosing the interactive, i get the following error message:
    could not load drivers for
root filesystem could not be loaded
the root filesystem error is something along those lines, i didn't write it down. after that, it just tells me to press a key, and my system reboots. My system config is as follows:
    AMD 1600 processor
    ECS K7S5A mobo
    512 PC2100 DDR RAM
3 IDE drives - 2 40gigs, 1 60gig (60gig is blank, trying to install Solaris here, it's the primary master)
Currently running a few operating systems (does that matter?)
i cannot figure out what to do from here. i've checked the docs on Suns site, and i can't find a fix. i find lots of stuff about patches, etc...but i can't patch a cd now can i. i hope someone can help, i've been at it all day and starting to get a little frustrated. =] thanks for your time.

This is probably the "pci function #5" problem for SIS chipsets.
Apparently you can work around the problem by creating a custom
DCA floppy diskette and installing/replacing a fixed ata.bef file on
    that floppy:

  • Sol 9 x86 EA now = full version upgrade later?

    Hi,
Can anyone confirm that the $20 Solaris 9 intel purchase now, will entitle the buyer to upgrades/patches/etc once Sol 9 moves out of Early Access?
This afternoon somebody mentioned this to me, but I would like a second (weightier) opinion.
In short, if I purchase Sol 9 for $20 now, and the production version comes out next week/month/year, will I have to pay for that too (as if i hadn't purchased this one) or will there be some upgrade-path-type of option.
    Thanks,
    Vafa.

  • PC Cards, Laptop and Sol 9/x86

    Hello,
I am looking for information on using a PCMCIA Card on a Compaq Laptop (Presario 1247) running Solaris 8 or 9.
My current setup is using Solaris 8 on that laptop with a 3COM 3C589D. In order for it to work, I bought some drivers from the folks at Lynsoft.com. But I want to put Solaris 9 on this laptop and want to find a NIC card that does not need a driver and is recognized by the kernel upon installation/boot time (just like some of the Intel PCI-NIC cards are seen as iprb0). Is there a PCMCIA card that I can get to accomplish this goal?

Take a look at the HCL...this one is valid for S9 also.

  • Oracle 10g client on Sol 10 x86

Hi. I apologize if this topic has been covered before.
I'm trying to install the 10g client on solaris 10x86. When I run the installer with ignoreSysPreqs, the OUI gui is distorted and the text is unreadable. This is a vanilla 10 install with no patches applied as of yet. I don' t want to just presume that this is a bug so I'll assume it's an isolated issue. Can anyone suggest anything?

The patches that are mentioned as requirements in the database installation guide are quite old and should all be included in the latest releases (u9 and u10), so you should be able to install oracle without access to OS support and patches. But I still want to strongly advise against this (for production). If you don't have a support subscription you may also not have a license to run solaris (you can download the software for free, but are only allowed to use it for 90 days) and even if it is possible to install and run Oracle right now, there might be a time when (db) support asks you to install certain OS patches.
So if this is for a proof of concept only, go ahead, but if you want to run this in production, better get support and licensing.

  • SIMS server can install on Sol 8 x86 or not?

I tried it...I solve the ldap installation and some patch problem...

And the script finally said it can not found the Message Store configuration file...
What can I do? Is that because I am installing it on Solaris 8?

Looks like SIMS 4.0 is for Solaris 2.6 and Solaris 7. I believe the product has migrated to iPlanet Messaging Server 5.x. You may want to post a query in the iPlanet forum. http://supportforum.sun.com/iplanet/
