MySql on Vista

Has anyone managed to successfully install MySql on Vista
Ultimate?
I simply cannot get the services to start.
Had no problems with XP.
Thanks!

  • OT: Vista & mySQL/Apache

    Good day.
    Vista Ultimate, CS3 & mySQL/PHP.
I have just put Vista on my PC and had difficulty installing
    mySQL on
Vista. (It doesn't complete and leaves me frustrated.)
I use mySQL & PHP to develop & work on our Family's
    mySQL database.
Now, can I skip mySQL and install Apache server on my
    machine. Will it do
the same as mySQL and will I be able to run PHPmyAdmin?
Thank you for your help so long.

I did as per your suggestion and found nothing. Nothing is
    using any
    ports for network connected programs.

  • OT: ASP on Vista Ultimate IIS 7

    Hi there.
Vista Ultimate, IIS 7 and DW CS3.
I have just moved form XP Prof SP2 to Vista Ultimate and have
    finished
adding IIS 7 to Vista and installed DW CS3 on my machine.
The very first time I wanted to run default.asp by hitting
    F12 after
synchronising to my testing server on my localhost, I got
    this error:
Server Error in Application "Default Web Site"
HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found
Description: The page you are requesting cannot be served
    because of the
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) map policy that
    is
configured on the Web server. The page you requested has a
    file name
extension that is not recognized, and is not allowed.
    Error Code: 0x80070032
    As I am NOT a programmer and don;t know IIS 7, I really don't
    have any
idea where to start looking for.
I have created the site in DW and said that the testing
    server is on:
    http://localhost/mysite
All the files were cached without any problems. The moment I
    hit F12 to
view the default.asp in IE 7, I got the message above.
I will really appreciate it if someone can help pointing me
    to some
setup instructions. (I still have to setup PHP & mySQL on
    Vista Ultimate
    and hope I am successfull.)
    Thanx for your help.

ASP is not installed on IIS7. You need to do that.

  • Vista and mysql

    Hi
took a few days but finally up and running on a new system
    with vista
    ultimate.
Ok I reinstated everything but now when I try tocreate a
    database connection
    I get the following error
your php server does not have the mysql module loaded or
you can't use the mysql_(p) functions
Some hints would be appreciated I'm using IIS7 and when I run
    the phpinfo
command it is displayed in local host. The php ini has mysql
    and mysqli un
commented together with gd2 and xsl. Could'nt find the
    multi-byte string
extension in the ini file- could this be the problem?
    thanks
    Ian

    Was this issue resolved?
I have the same problem now. DW was working fine the one day and the next when I started it it had this connection problem.
I am testing on my local PC. My sites is at http://localhost/
All my connection are working because if I go to http://localhost/index.php I can see my site and if I go to http://localhost/register.php I can even register a new user. It will include the new user details in the data base and everything is working fine. So there is nothing wrong with the connection.
In DW I do have http://localhost/ on the Local Info screen. As I said, all was working fine on the current setup the one day and the next day it did not want to work.
Seems like a very common problem.
I want to buy CS4 and surely hope that the problem has been fixed by now.

  • Vista and MYSQL ODBC

Administrative Tools, Data Sources (ODBC) to add the new

  • OT:  MySQL for Flex/CF on Vista

Hi, I can't seem to install MySQL 5.0.27 on Vista for use
with Flex/CF. To install Flex and CF, I was able to move my CD
files onto the desktop and run in compatibility mode for XP/SP2 and
the Run as Administrator...a little finicky but it worked.
I can't do that with MySQL (msi installer) and when I try to
do the compatibility and/or run as admin thing, neither option is
available. I get through the basic install, then it won't run the
configuration; from there, it just plain doesn't work.
I read you need to have Visual Studio with SP1 so I jumped
through them hoops (dumb!) but even that didn't work. I do,
however, now have a whole bunch of MS Express software including
    MSSQL and Vis Studio Web...sigh...
Vista came bundled with my Dell (no option to configure with
XP Pro). I have available here XP Home and XP 64 (it's a Core 2 Duo
machine and my server was running XP 64 till I upgraded to Server
2003 SBS). My entire reason for this computer is Flex/CF
Development to be moved over to my server when the time is right.
Would starting over with XP Home or XP 64 be a better option? If I
had XP Pro, it would be a no-brainer...
Any suggestions, or knowledge as to whether MySQL will work
with this OS, or if I should reformat for XP Home or XP 64?

  • Sharing files between a Windows Vista Business edition and a Mac osx 10.6.6

Is there reliable information somewhere about how to share files from a Windows Vista business edition pc to a Mac osx 10.6.6?  I have googled instructions and followed the steps and still could not have sharing to happen between the Vista pc and the Mac.  These are the steps I have performed, I have made sure that
o Both the Vista pc and the Mac have the same user account/password.
o The firewall from the Vista side allows file and printer sharing in the exceptions.
o Enabled sharing with a few directories on the Vista pc.
o Changed the security policy on the Vista pc to "LM and NTLM - use NTLMV2 session security if negotiated".
o On the Mac System Preferences > Sharing selected File sharing.
On the Windows Vista pc, if I click the Start menu and then Network, the Mac does not appear.  On the Mac, from the Finder menu if I click Go > Connect to server and request a connection to the IP address of that Vista pc, I get an error, "Connection Failed"  (could not find pc or not available at this time).
    What else do I need?

That was a great tutorial / walk through.
In fact, I would say that was far easier than the entrophy route (which is good) as you can see exactly what you are doing rather than relying on an installer which has often failed in the past for me, and then just suddenly worked for no apparent reason!
Just two things to improve it for other users, and they are really VERY minor... From previous experience, I knew where to find the php.ini.default file, but you don't let people know where to find that, and the links to the MySQL downloads were broken. I guess that is because the file names have changed or because I am coming at it from a different country. I got a message stating: 'That file does not exist on our download mirrors.'
Thanks for doing that, I really appreciate you (and the likes of David Powers) taking the time to set these tutorials up for others to use.

  • Issues with Flex3 and CF8 on Windows Vista

Sorry for the whine, however I feel it necessary to get a few
issues I've found with Flex3 on a Vista Laptop working with CF8
that I've not seen documented elsewhere.
    Environment:
Sony Laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 3 GB Ram.
Running CF 8 Standard Edition, along with mySQL 5.x and
access to a SQL Server instance on another machine on the same
    local network.
What I am trying to do:
    A) learn flex, my background is CF with over 8 years of
experience along with Flash AS2 along the way.
    B) put together a hello world app.
    C) use the flex/cf application wizard to build a simple
master/detail set of selection/edit screens for one table of a
database that I used recently on a CF8 project. To see how much
better the UI really is on Flex and whether I could use it to retro
fit that old application to have a better UI using flex3.
    Issues.
My mini-application is set up initially in the folder
c:/inetpub/wwwroot/mydirectory, but it does not work.
Reason is that when run, it cannot access the flex2gateway on
the url that the wizard puts into the app. which is
    http://localhost/mydirectory/flex2gateway...
    Details:
flex2gateway does not work on a subdirectory URL on the
    default web site.
    If I access
    http://localhost/flex2gateway/
I get a blank screen (as expected) meaning that the flex2gatweway
    is working.
    If I access
    http://localhost/mysubdirectory/flex2gateway/
    I get a 404.0 error (not found)
Now, I beleive this is supposed to work, something must be
wrong with one of the xml file setups. But I cannot find any
    documentation for it.
Initially the flex2gateway did not work at all. I did the web
connector thing with CF batch file and that got it working, but
only on the base directory, not the subdirectory.
So, to get around this issue, Luckily Vista with IE7 allows
more than one website.. I create a whole new website that is
    accessed using
    http://192.168.1.73:81/
I set this website up in the folder c:/localhost/mydirectory.
The flex project is called mydirectory
So we come to issue 2.
Given the above Issue number 1, I have further frustration
because when the Flex/Cold Fusion Application wizard builds the
various mxml files it insists on prefixing all of the remote object
    calls with 'mydirectory.'
    e.g "mydirectory.components.cfgenerated.mycfc"
Now, given that the web root is also the base of the project,
    this will not work.
    What actually works is: "components.cfgenerated.mycfc"
There seems to be no way I can configure the project when
building it to get around this issue. The only way |I can fix this
is to manually edit all the mxml files after the wizard is
finished. I also have to doctor the project setup for similar
reasons. It wants all of the urls to be:
    http://192.168.1.73:81/mydirectory/bin/main.html
    instead of
    http://192.168.1.73:81/bin/main.html
So obviously the wizard is not set up to handle applications
that are based right at the web root, even though this is the only
    place that the flex2gateway can work. <snafu I guess>
    Issue 3:
I find that the flex/Cf application wizard is set up to build
pages based upon a certain narrowly defined way of constructing the
source database tables. In particular it wants every table to have
its own unique numeric id for each row, and can't handle a string
for the primary key and have the primary key editable as well.
Seems inflexible if you ask me. The main problem is that the
preconditions on the table structure that the wizard can work with
are poorly defined and documented. You obviously had to go to the
same school of database design and the same class as the Adobe
developers to think in the same way.
Given that this tool is supposed to be a help to new users of
Flex and AS3 and it is supposed to be a productivity aid, perhaps I
should not be surprised to have had to spend over a week getting to
grips with the wizard and learning its tricks just to get it to
build a mind numbingly simple mini app of my own that works when
run. Sorry Adobe, but you get a F minus on your report card for
this one, particularly on the really bad documentation. Just as bad
for the coding complexity of the solution to seemingly simple
    application concept.
    Cheers,
    Bryn Parrott

    Hi,
Which version of RDP client you are using for your client?
Does more user login at same period of time?
As you have commented that after sticking the user can’t able to login in RDCB server, here I can suggest you to check the setting of connection broker. Also you can check that you have place the proper location path of UPD while configuring in collection configuration
wizard. You can take a look at below article foe virtual desktop configuration.
Deploying Virtual Desktops with Windows Server 2012
Are you trying to use same UPD for different collection then also it might happens to occur your issue. The fact of UPD is User profile disks are for a single collection only. A user connecting to two different collections will have two separate profiles. If
you want to synchronize settings, refer to Microsoft User Experience Virtualization. Go through this article for more understanding related to UPD.

    Hope it helps!

  • Listener error with dg4odbc and mysql

    Hi all,
First of all, sorry for my English, I'm learning :-)
I'm trying to create a dblink from oracle to mysql, but for now this seems impossible. I have read lots of manuals and post, but no way. I can connect to remote mysql server with "isql my_portal", so, unixodbc and the mysql driver for odbc are working in the server.
The oracle database 10.2 is installed in a Red Hat 64 bits server. Due to hsodbc for 10.2 is only for 32bit i installed the gateway version for 11g without problems (no errors showed, so...) But I have always the same error: "TNS-12541: TNS:no listener dg4odbc" But my configuration seems correct. Can anyone find the error in my config? Thank you

  • OT: Calling on Vista & Tablet users for help

    Hi there.
Vistia Ultimate (SP1 plus updates), Wacom Graphite 2 Tablet (latest software) and PS CS3.
Thank you so long for your help.
I have formatted my HDD, installed and activated all my software and still having huge problems. I also have Office 2007 installed.
It happens now that when I open Outlook, I het a VERY annoying message telling me the following:
"Microsoft Windows Search Protocol Host was closed". This message ONLY pops up when opening Outlook 2007 and while it is opened; NEVER when Outlook is closed.
I have Googled this message extensively as well as looking for answers on Microsoft's website. The closest I could get, was MS sending me a "Hotfix" saying the cause of this message is that Vista has some difficulty recognising for Outlook the hand writing from the tablet. Funny this is that I NEVER use my tablet for writing.
What I cannot understand, is that I have never had this message popping up in the ±12 months I have moved to Vista. I have started receiving this message after I had to replace my HDD and installed all the software that was on my old HDD. From what I can remember, the only thing I have done different to the initial installation, was that I installed SP1 from a VD and not from an online update. Can this be the reason?
I am really hoping for some direction from someone here who use a table together with Vista and Outlook 2007. I am on the brinck of dusting of my XP Professional case and install XP. I never had these kind of problems with XP.
    Sincere Reards,
    Deon

Leave IIS alone. Make Apache run on a different port (8080) -
    that is the
    usual one chosen.

  • PHP/MySQL Help Needed

I'm a beginner with this PHP/MySQL language, but I'm using
Dreamweaver CS3 to help things along. I've set up my database with
my host (using PHPmyAdmin) and put in a table with some fields.
Then I went into Dreamweaver and set up everything and it saw the
database name perfectly. Then I made a recordset and it saw the
fields just fine. I then made an input page to put the data into
the database and that went off without a hitch. I then made a basic
webpage with nothing but the call to display 2 of the fields in my
database (I did the test in dreamweaver and it saw all the data I
populated my database with perfectly). I then told it to preview in
Firefox and got a blank page... Ok I must have done something
wrong, so I put in some basic text just so I could see if even that
would show up correctly. Then I previewed in Firefox again and not
only did it show up, but the 2 fields showed up as well! Yea! So I
made some changes to the fields I wanted to show and again did a
Preview in Firefox. I was again treated to a blank page. Not even
my basic text was showing up. I went back to Dreamweaver and added
some more text... preview... works perfectly showing everything. I
refresh the page and it's blank. I close Firefox and preview again.
It's a blank page, but for the heck of it I decide to View Source
and lo and behold all the data is there. I close the source and try
reloading the page... blank. I'm at a loss. Any idea why this might
    be happening?

Sorry, I haven't tested anything on an Intel Mac yet. Testing
    everything
on Vista for my new Dreamweaver book has given me enough of a
    headache.
However, I'm pretty sure that my editor has an Intel Mac, and
    he
followed the instructions in "PHP Solutions" without any
    major hiccups.
(They're pretty much the same as in the Flash book.)
Isn't there a MySQL.prefPane icon in the MySQL installation
    package? I
have found that MySQL won't start automatically on 10.4 (it
    did on
10.3), but as long as you install the prefPane, you should be
    able to go
    in and start it manually.

  • DG4ODBC - MySQL in 11.2.0 or 11g XE

Hi - I've been struggling on and off for weeks with this - so fed up with ODBC connectivity!!!
4 years ago I was finally able to get heterogeneous connectivity on 10g/Windows to SQL Server using HSOLEDB but that's apparently not an option anymore as HSODBC/HSOLEDB are no longer supported in lieu of the transparent gateways. I've been through all forums/metalink/MOS for weeks and can't for the life of me get DG40DBC to work with MySQL. Have tried on our core server: x86_64 RHEL 5/10.2.0.3 Enterprise with Gateways 11g, a dev server: x86_64 RHEL 5/11g/11g XE x86_64, and now a Windows Vista x86 virtual machine (11g XE) as a test. XE 11g with HSODBC and Dg4ODBC 11g XE includes the dg4odbc binaries and should work, so I wasn't about to do a full 11g Ent install to test this.
My ODBC system DSN source works using the correct version of MyODBC.
My lsnrctl status shows the proper "UNKNOWN" like it always does...
TNSPING DG4ODBC shows a "TNS-12538: TNS:no such protocol adapter", which is replaced with "no listener" if I adjust my tnsnames.ora, so tnsnames should not be a problem.
I've tried adding dg4odbc to each the standard listener and a new separate listener with no luck in either case.
I've tried every combination of capitalization/case sensitivity troubleshooting in initdg4odbc.ora/listener.ora/tnsnames.ora/db link creation.
    All windows software firewalls/daykillers disabled.
There appear to be no trace logs no matter what log level I use in initdg4odbc.ora.
Selection from my db link always yields:
ORA-28545: error diagnosed by Net8 when connecting to an agent
Unable to retrieve text of NETWORK/NCR message 65535
    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from DG4ODBC
I've poured over everything from official documentation/forums/Donny B and nothing has helped. My end result is I need some kind of generic connectivity to MySQL from the Linux x86_64 10.2.0.3 Enterprise server but I can't get this going in ANY environment. Soooo fed up with this but I know this must be a simple fluke that someone can see by looking over my shoulder.... please? A solution, a solution. My kingdom for a solution.

    Hi,
    A couple of points.
    1. If you are using Dg4ODBC 11g then you need to be at at least RDBMS 10.2.0.4. If you are using 10.2.0.3 then you need to apply patch 5965763 to your RDBMS. For Windows this is included in the later patchsets.
    2. I got a copy of this update in a mail and it looks like you may have the incorrect format for your tnsnames.ora file. However, in the your post all the line spacings have been lost. So, can you make sure that the tnsnames.ora entry has at least 1 space before every line except for the first, for example -
    DG4ODBC =
    <space> (DESCRIPTION =
    <space> (ADDRESS_LIST =
    <space> (ADDRESS =
    <space> (PROTOCOL = TPC)
    <space> (HOST = localhost)
    <space> (PORT = 1521))
    <space> )
    <space> (CONNECT_DATA =
    <space> (SERVICE_NAME = DG4ODBC)
    <space> )
    <space> (HS = OK)
    <space> )
and the same for the listener.ora - after the first line of each section make sure there is at least one space.
If you are not getting any dg4odbc trace files it indicates that the gateway executable is not being started with could be a listener problem. Is there anything in the listener log to indicate a problem starting the gateway executable ?
If you still have problems then could you load your configuration files again but make sure all the spaces at the beginning of each line are preserved and the full output shown in SQLPLUS for a failing select ?
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hello All,
Is MySQL 5.0.77 (64 bit) compatible with unixODBC 2.2 (32-bit) on Linux 64-bit server ?
I am facing problem of inconsistent connection to MySQL through the unixODBC driver manager.

    Any help is appreciated...

Right where do I start...... I got the latest drivers installed, "What You Hear" was working for about oh four recordings then stopped and back to choppy recorded sound, I went through alll options and nada. So I downloaded Audacity to see if this was a problem with Wavelab and re-tried. Well same thing choppy sound and even rebooting did not help. So I will be taking EVERYTHING!!!!!! CREATIVE off my machine, if these idiots cannot be bothered to release drivers that work then I'm going elsewhere. My music creating will have to be put on hold, my 22m will still have to sit in it's box.
Creative you are all a bunch of ?$"?%$%" idiots period. You have ALWAYS (till now in my case anyway) had good drivers. Even though Windows 7 has been in RC for ages you (absolutely missed that boat, hell you didn't even get up to try to catch it) cannot be bothered to write drivers that work and your idiotic half cooked attempts at customer service to give your bread and butter (that's right your customers who keep you in business) solid drivers are an absolute joke. YOU CAN KISS MY SHINY METAL HINEY!!!!! (thanks Bender lol). I am going to my onboard drivers. Thanks Creative (the name "creative" is kind of contradiction in itself, you should look up the meaning of the word lol). Oh and I will be advising EVERYONe who thinks of upgrading to Windows7 to avoid Creative hardware.
    :angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:: angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::a ngry::angry:
Question for forum users: what is the best way to get rid of every bit of drivers?
