Mysql syntax error

Hi, I am trying to run the following query with JDBC. It works perfectly when done through a normal mysql admin tool but not with JDBC
Apparently the error is on the last line. Do you guys know why?

  • MySQL syntax error with TestStand 4.0 database logging

    I had been using MS Access database to log results which worked fine but the access database is too limited. Switched to MySql. Database works fine and I can query it from Visual C++ and was able to create all my result tables fine from TestStand.
    I get a syntax error when actually trying to log results and it has to do with either a missing quote or and extra quote, I can't quite tell. I thought I saw a post on this somewhere but can't find it now. Here is the complaint from TestStand:

    You can't see it here but the string is truncated after the word VALUES. The next line starts with the odd number.

    Sure. There were two bugs in the ini file that contains the default TS schemas (I think it was Default_Database_Options.ini or like that...).
    Anyway the table description for STEP_NUMERICLIMIT had for it's command line INSERT INTO MEAS_NUMERICLIMIT. I guess TestStand looked at that and said hmm I better create that table too. Then later down the page when you try to create MEAS_NUMERICLIMIT it says the table already exists even though it is empty. The generate SQL button builds a bad file and then the database viewer creates a bad database. I would have to go into MySql and drop the database. I had to save the schema under a custom name, edit it read it back in, generate a new SQL file, but then it would still fail validation because the ini files don't get updated until you exit TestStand. So basically I did this process 3 times before I got it right.
    It's wasn't a big deal but it's amazing how a little thing can cause a lot of work.
    The second bug, I'm not certain was initially in the file or somehow got set on the fly. There was a random int statement at the very end of the SQL table description for UUT_RESULT. It was also in the schema INI file. Since the int had no name and occurred in a odd place, it created a syntax error in MySql. Same fix as above.
    But like I said it's working great now. I like this approach because I serve it to the net with Apache and parse the database with simple PHP scripts.

    I have another question. Just to refresh I am using DWCS3 with MAMP on my MBP Leopard 10.5.6.
    I have created a form with the form wizard and a Transitional <!DOCTYPE>
    I have added the php validation code pages 481 to 485 The Essential Guide to Dreamweaver.
    I saved it and uploaded it to the testing server clicked the "insert form" button,and  I got;

    The MySQL version I am using is 5.0.37. I have gone over and over the code and I can't find what is wrong with it.
    Also for the username column, I am now getting a message;
    'Unknown column'  'ella1' in 'where clause'
    I have researched it on the web and possible answers are that my columns are misspelled, the column doesn't exist or username is not in the query.
    I have checked all of these and I really can't see the problem, but there obviously is one.
    Please can someone help.

    I can't seem to locate the syntax error in this MySQL query.  Coldfusion says there an error in my sql syntax.  Here is the query.  Anyone have any clues on this?

    To troubleshoot, run this:

    If it runs successfully, keep adding bits and pieces until it crashes.  Then you'll know what made it crash.
    Also enable debugging so you can see the sql that gets generated from your code.   That's often useful.

    I have an online application I would like to use transactions to either commit all db updates or none at all. The code I have created is as follows, not only am I getting a syntax error on lines 5 and 16, but quite frankly I am unsure the code will actually do what I want. Please let me know if you see the syntax errors and could explain them to me.

    If you would like to help me figure out if this code will actually work for what I want the following describes the situation.
    Main idea: business location managers submit requests for maintenance at their center. Requests can be added anywhere in the priority list (1=highest priority). They can also change the priority of a request at any time.
    Previously I have been using php to control a loop of mysql update queries (yikes, I know now, 2 sql statements could do the trick) and lately we have been experiencing duplicate priorities, and other problems that seem to be most likely linked to the updating of priorities of multiple items.
    Ex: moving priority item 6 to priority 1 requires 1 update query for the current 6th priority item, but a second query (or loop of several more since I was very new to sql statements at time of development 2 years ago) to update the other priorities.
    Thus the desire for the transaction method.
    Again, thanks in advance for any help on this issue.
    P.S. - I am using MySQL workbench to write this and that's where I get the errors.

  • PreparedStatment creating Syntax Error.

    The poblem is in the first prepared statment if I enter the value straight into the statement string everying works fine. However, when I use a ? for placeholder and then supply the same sting value i would have entered in the statement string I get a sytax error.

    In which case it'll be that Access has a different date format to MySQL, and you're trying to push the string "'25-Apr-12 10:55 PM" into Access, which it's not understanding. To get around this, you need to treat your variable as a true date/time object, rather than a formatted string.
    CFQueryParams should be used on absolutely every database platform, they'll stop your website being vulnerable to SQL Injection attacks for one, which at the moment you're wide open to. Replace your query with something like this:

    The QueryParams will handle the data types for you, and should pass values around more safely and with fewer issues. Assuming you just want to store the current date and time you don't even need to get ColdFusion involved, as databases have their own functions for this. I believe Access' version is simply NOW(), so I've put that in your query.
    Give the above a go.

  • Beginner: Getting syntax error on WHERE clause in SELECT

    I'm very new to php and mySQL.  Am using DW master/detail to generate to basic code I need.  One thing I need to do is modify a select statement in the master to include a WHERE clause to limit the selection to a particular value in one field.
    I'm getting a syntax error with the WHERE clause I'm adding to the map select statement.
    This is the portion of the error message showing the error location:
    'WHERE Group='Community' LIMIT 0, 10'
    The php that generated the select is:
    $query_maps = "SELECT * FROM tblmaps ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq";
    $query_limit_maps = sprintf("%s WHERE Group='%s' LIMIT %d, %d", $query_maps, $selectGroup, $startRow_maps, $maxRows_maps);
    This approach to creating the select statement is from the code generated for the master page.  It adds the LIMIT clause.  All I did was add the "WHERE Group='%s' and the $selectGroup variable which comes from earlier code.  You can see that the $selectGroup variable is equal to the "Community: group.
    I've scanned the web to see what syntax error I might be making but haven't found anything that explains it.
    The full resolved select statement is:
    SELECT * FROM tblmaps ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq WHERE Group='Community' LIMIT 0,10
    What am I not seeing?

    Here's the error message I'm getting:
    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Group='Community' ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq LIMIT 0, 10' at line 1
    The full select (from a debugging ECHO I inserted) is:
    SELECT * FROM tblmaps WHERE Group='Community' ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq LIMIT 0, 10
    Note that when I take the WHERE clause out, there is no syntax error.

    I'm trying to put in labview an SQL query on joined tables.
    As example I take a DB for storing the data of 2on2 basketball games, whose tables are
    matches(matchId,teamA,teamB)
    teams(teamId,PlayerAname,PlayerBname,Nationality)
    nationalities(NatId,natName)
    To get a result table with the match number and the player names along with their nationality I use this query on MySQL (which works on the command line interface)

    Am I mistanking something in using the JOIN statements, or the aliases?

    Sounds like a prime candidate for a subVI. You don't have to use it every time, but it probably would help for cases where you do want to put the SQL query directly in code.
    Incidentally, if you're doing joins, you might consider using views, as that allows you to hide the details of the interactions of the tables in the DB itself.

  • MySQL query error

    Hi all,
    The query is "SELECT * FROM tblPages t WHERE t.SiteID=1000 AND t.DisplayModule = 'on' and t.Deleted = 'N' order by t.navorder"
    When i execute the above query using JDBC i get the following Exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: Syntax error or access violation, message from server: "You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'BY t.navorder' at line 1"
    but when i execute the same query at the command prompt it works without any problem.
    I am using MySQL 4.1 database

    Hi I am receiving a syntax error: invalid quantifier ++ $orderNum;s*?> when adding two variables in the recordset (query) dialog box. I get the error when clicking OK.

    That's a completely separate issue. The error message is telling you that you have not defined the testing server correctly in the Site Definition dialog box.
    The Host directory field and URL prefix should both point to the same place, in other words, the root of your website. Host directory is the physical path, while URL prefix is the address you would put in a browser address bar.
    Select Site > Manage Sites. Select the name of the site, and click the Edit button. In the Site Definition dialog box, select the Advanced tab, and then choose Testing server from the Category list on the left.
    Depending on how your remote login works, Host directory should probably be public_html or just /. Use the same value as in the Remote server part of the Site Definition dialog box. The URL prefix should be http://gaylehansen.aisites.com/.

    We have recompiled our Weblogic 8.1 product on Weblogic 9.2, and while re-deploying
    our EJBs one of our CMP beans curiously and unusually failed to deploy. The failure to deploy

    When we turn off use-select-for-update, the offending code is no longer
    generated and the EJB deploys, but we need and depend on this feature being enabled, so simply
    leaving this off is not a viable solution.

    Dreamweaver will not produce such a mess when using column names which comply with the MySQL Naming Conventions and don´t contain (often quite problematic) hyphen characters.
    That said, you´ll be on the safe side when renaming your columns by using underscores instead, example:

    Several other web developers have told me that they entirely abandoned DW CS* series and moved on to other IDE's rather than try to fix the problem.
    Dreamweaver is certainly not a "perfect" PHP development IDE, but other IDEs (I use Komodo or Aptana at times and like them a lot...) aren´t perfect either. This may seem strange, but IMO Dreamweaver did do the - sort of - right thing by not letting the user get away with using such problematic characters, and that´s what those other IDEs I work with regretfully don´t pay attention to.
